But irresponsible sexual expression also extracts a fortune in health care costs, and we never see the same kind of unequivocal condemnation. Now, a column in the New York Times seems to advocate surrender to sexual irresponsibility in the AIDS fight: Rather than promote responsible sexuality, Donald G. The left is trying to prove the GOP to be “anti-science.” As part of that effort, Amanda Marcotte, writing in Salon, makes another in the ongoing attempts among liberal media types to disprove the truth of Marco Rubio’s assertion that human life begins at fertilization—-which is what Rubio meant when using the popular term, “conception.” And just as the others, she actually undermines the very meaning of “science” that she purports to defend. Last week Politico released the results of a poll of likely voters in competitive states and congressional districts. The results of their questions about abortion were interesting. Nineteen percent stated that they favored abortion on demand while only 11 percent favored banning abortion in all circumstances. The remainder favored two other categories where abortion would remain legal with some limits in place. These results were consistent with a body of survey data on abortion. Children as young as nine are to be prescribed drugs which delay the onset of puberty as the first step towards a sex change operation (Mail on Sunday and Daily Telegraph). Doctors at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust said a trial of the treatment on ‘gender dysphoria’ patients aged 12 to 14 had been successful and it could now be offered even earlier. At a Liberal fundraiser last November, Justin Trudeau took questions from the audience. A supporter asked which country’s administration he most admired. Trudeau’s response was shocking and made news headlines:  There is a level of admiration I actually have for China because their basic dictatorship is allowing them to actually turn their economy around on a dime (emphasis added). In America, we tend to support more religious freedom than less. And after last week's Supreme Court decision to allow prayer at public meetings, Catholics and other Christians rejoiced. Edmonton Archbishop Richard Smith’s strong, blunt criticism of Liberal Party leader Justin Trudeau’s outrageous announcement that pro-life candidates will no longer be permitted to run for the Liberal Party is a welcome change from the usual silence of Canada’s bishops on almost all such developments. I really hope many pro-life Canadians thank Archbishop Smith for speaking out and encourage him to continue to publicly hold Canadian Catholic politicians accountable for their anti-life and anti-family pronouncements, votes and other actions. I had just started to climb the steps on Parliament Hill in Ottawa yesterday to speak to our editor-in-chief, John-Henry Westen, who was taking photos of the speakers.
