Be an Uncle Tom for life

Our culture of abortion, and the bondage it has created, is crying out for heroes like Uncle Tom. We need more that will bravely stand up to an unjust system that denies the humanity of God’s creation.

‘Playful’ Irish LGBT-positive play teaches 7-year-olds to bend gender

An Irish theater company has created a pro-LGBT play specifically geared towards youngsters ages 7-13 with the goal of remolding a child’s conception of the human person as either male or female.  Titled “Aunty Ben,” the play tells the story of a nine-year-old primary student named Tracey who one day brings her school friends home to meet her exciting and fun-loving “Aunty Ben,” only to have the friends react negatively as they encounter a biological male decked-out in women’s clothing. As the story progresses, Tracey’s friends learn to overcome their negativity toward “Aunty Ben.” “Tracey loves her Aunty Ben. It […]

Two timely quotes from St. John Paul II on his feast day

In an address during the 1976 Eucharistic Congress in Philadelphia for the bicentennial celebration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Cardinal Karol Wojtyla said: We are now standing in the face of the greatest historical confrontation humanity has ever experienced. I do not think that the wide circle of the American Society, or the whole wide circle of the Christian Community realize this fully. We are now facing the final confrontation between the Church and the anti-church, between the gospel and the anti-gospel, between Christ and the antichrist. The confrontation lies within the plans of Divine Providence. It […]

Advice columnist: Abortion is ‘the most righteous of causes’

What’s a pro-abortion activist to do when her husband’s grandparents are “very Catholic” and pro-life? That’s the question one woman asked when she wrote to The Jewish Daily Forward's Seesaw advice column seeking guidance on how to convince her husband's grandparents to support abortion-on-demand. “I am Jewish and a longtime pro-choice activist who is married to a half-Jewish, half-Catholic man,” wrote the anonymous activist. “He was raised more Jewish than Catholic, because his Catholic dad wasn’t really into the faith. His grandparents, on the other hand, are still very Catholic and therefore very anti-abortion. I have long desired to have […]

Want birth control without the cancer? Try Natural Family Planning (video)

Remember Natural Family Planning (NFP)? It's the old-timey thing the Catholic Church tells people to do if they want to space out their children, which has largely been abandoned in today's culture of debauchery and contraceptives. In a new video, however, the Population Research Institute points to how NFP provides more benefits than contraceptives, with none of the health effects and none of the financial costs. Best of all, of course, it encourages a couple to come closer — not have artificial separation between themselves during the unitive sexual act. Population Research Institute president Steven Mosher told LifeSiteNews that “our […]

Same-sex ‘marriages’ to begin Friday in Alaska unless court takes action

Same-sex “marriages” will begin taking place in Alaska by tomorrow, unless the Supreme Court intervenes. On Wednesday, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals “stayed” a decision that overturned the state law, which was approved by voters in 1998. The Circuit Court's decision temporarily halts a decision by U.S. District Court Judge Timothy Burgess that the state's law is unconstitutional. The stay will end Friday at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time, unless the Supreme Court extends it. Last week, the Court stayed a decision in Idaho that overturned that state's marriage law. However, the Court has also decided to not hear same-sex […]

California churches fight back against law forcing them to cover abortion

Seven California churches have filed a civil rights complaint with the federal Department of Health & Human Services, saying that a new interpretation of California law would violate both federal and state law by requiring insurance coverage for all abortions. In a letter dated August 22 to president of Anthem Blue Cross in California, Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) Director Shelley Rouillard wrote that some of the insurance companies' “contracts contain language that may discriminate against women by limiting or excluding coverage for termination of pregnancies.” According to Rouillard, California law “requires the provision of basic health care services,” […]

Was this the most pro-life television show of the year?

The pro-life cause garnered some assistance from an unlikely source over the weekend with a broadcast of the cult hit sci-fi show Doctor Who. Catholic Vote (CV) reviewed of the October 4, “Kill the Moon,” episode of the longtime BBC series, calling it the most pro-life Doctor Who ever. “'Kill the Moon' was a thoroughly pro-life story,” CV says, “yet it was effective. It did not preach or caricature. The dialogue sizzled. It was riveting, morally serious, and often fun.” Doctor Who and his companions for this episode, Clara and Courtney, land on the moon in the year 2049 to investigate changes in its physics […]

Megadonors meet behind closed doors to convince GOP to support gay ‘marriage’

Billionaire donor Paul Singer held a secret, closed doors meeting with other megadonors to promote same-sex “marriage” within the Republican Party. The Washington Blade reported that Singer and a number of wealthy donors, politicians, and the head of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) met on Thursday to discuss how to swing the GOP in favor of redefining marriage. Relying on four anonymous sources, the Blade found that HRC president Chad Griffin, a Democratic operative, was expected to speak at the event. Prominent Republicans are expected to be in attendance, including former Bush administration Solicitor General Ted Olson, who has led […]

48 family experts urge pope and bishops to combat divorce, porn, abortion and ‘gender ideology’

A group of 48 theologians, psychologists, social workers, counselors, lawyers, and other experts have written an open letter urging the pope and bishops about to attend the Vatican’s Extraordinary Synod on the Family to defend the family and the sanctity of life against secularist attacks. Rampant divorce, contraception, unmarried cohabitation, and pornography, with an ever-shrinking knowledge of the moral law among ordinary people, are the issues most pressing against the institution of marriage, the scholars argue. They have asked the pope to encourage parishes to work to “restore legal provisions that protect marriage as a conjugal union of one man […]

Violence increases against street preacher after authorities ask people to monitor his sermons

In June this year, police in a small town in Somerset advised local shop keepers and the general public to use their mobile phones to record evidence against a local Christian street preacher “if they think he is making offensive remarks,” including remarks against homosexual activity. According to the preacher, Michael Overd, the result has been not only charges being pressed against him by the Crown Prosecution Service for his preaching, but an increase of violent assaults and verbal abuse against him and his friends. “I’d advise people that if they’re offended to record any incident on their mobile phone […]
