Alberta bishops use ‘ecclesiastical authority’ to ban communion on tongue out of COVID fears

August 12, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – Citing “ecclesiastical authority” to “regulate rights in view of the common good,” the Catholic Bishops of Alberta’s largest dioceses have “temporarily” banned the reception of Holy Communion on the tongue as part of their coronavirus safety measures. The ban comes even though the Catholic Church states clearly in Redemptionis Sacramentum that a Catholic “always has the right to receive Holy Communion on the tongue.”

The ban on communion on the tongue comes as part of the Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton and Catholic Diocese of Calgary’s “Guidelines for the Reintroduction of the Public Celebration of Holy Mass.” These were published in late May to comply with the Alberta government's Guidance for Places of Worship.

The guidelines were developed by Archbishop Richard Smith of Edmonton and Bishop William McGrattan of Calgary.

A section in the bishops' guidelines titled “Distribution of Holy Communion” states clearly that “Holy Communion may only be received in the hand.”

The guidelines refer to Redemptionis Sacramentum, which gives the faithful the right to receive on the tongue but then cites “ecclesiastical authority” from the church’s Code of Canon Law to regulate such a right.

“Holy Communion may only be received in the hand. A small table will be placed next to the priest, on which is to be placed a corporal and a bottle of sanitizer. If, during Holy Communion, a priest feels that his hand has touched the hands of a communicant, he must immediately pause, place the ciborium on the corporal, sanitize his hands, and then continue to distribute the Eucharist,” says the guidelines

“Acknowledging that receiving Communion on the tongue is a right of all the faithful (Redemptionis Sacramentum, n. 92), nevertheless ecclesiastical authority is to regulate rights in view of the common good (can. 223, §2). In the present circumstances, Communion will not be distributed on the tongue. This is a temporary measure to be reviewed on an on-going basis in the light of developing medical advice.”

The Code of Canon Law 223-1 states, “In exercising their rights, the Christian faithful, both as individuals and gathered together in associations, must take into account the common good of the Church, the rights of others, and their own duties toward others.”

Canon 223-2 says, “In view of the common good, ecclesiastical authority can direct the exercise of rights which are proper to the Christian faithful.”

In a recent episode of The John-Henry Westen Show, Dr. Peter Kwasniewski argued that a bishop “abuses” his authority when he denies the faithful the right to receive Holy Communion on the tongue.

“They’re supposed to uphold Canon law, and Canon law is really clear that the faithful have the right to receive communion on the tongue. That's it,” Kwasniewski told Westen.

“Communion in the hand is an exception. It's what's called an indult. It is a permission,” adding, “I think what this coronavirus is bringing out is a real crisis in the faith of the bishops, in the real presence of Our Lord and in the reverence and adoration we owe him.”

Kwasniewski told Westen during the show that “there's a very heightened awareness” early on in the Church regarding the “awesomeness of the Sacrament.”

“In fact, it's this growing sense of reverence that leads the church over time progressively to restrict and finally to abolish communion in the hands. Except, of course, for the clergy … but for the laity, by the time you reach the year 1000 … communion in the mouth is universal … what we're dealing with here is, in my opinion, a clear example of organic development,” Kwasniewski told Westen.

In a blog post titled “5 reasons why Catholics should only receive Holy Communion on the tongue,” Westen cited Canonist Cathy Caridi, who stated that a bishop can “absolutely not” refuse communion on the tongue due to coronavirus safety measures.

“It’s astonishing that in quite a number of different parts of the world, diocesan bishops (and in some cases, parish priests acting on their own initiative) have made public declarations that in order to prevent the spread of the virus, the faithful are henceforth forbidden to receive Holy Communion on the tongue, and must receive It in the hand.  Quite apart from the fact that no medical officials have suggested this be done as a precaution—because there is no scientific evidence that distributing Communion to people on the hand is any more germ-free than distribution on the tongue—the Church’s laws on this matter are not subject to change by any cleric at the local level,” wrote Caridi in a “Canon Law Made Easy” blog post, in response to a question from someone asking if a Bishop can decree communion in the hand “only.”

In her blog post, Caridi wrote that “Historians cannot pinpoint the moment in time when the Catholic Church formally adopted the practice of distributing the Body of Christ to the faithful on the tongue, but it definitely began in the early centuries of Christianity.”

She added that the Sacred Congregation for Divine Worship issued the instruction Memoriale Domini in 1969, which “raised the possibility of permitting, in certain areas of the world, the reception of Communion in the hand.”

She noted that Memoriale Domini “did not grant the entire Catholic Church permission for the distribution of Communion in the hand,” but that it instead allowed Conferences of Bishops to decide whether they “even wished to introduce this practice in their territories.”

Bishop Athanasius Schneider said at the 2020 virtual Rome Life Forum hosted by Voice of the Family that the pope should ban Communion in the hand.

“The Pope should also forbid the practice of Communion in the hand, for the Church cannot continue unpunished to treat the Holy of Holies in the little sacred Host in such a minimalistic and unsafe manner,” Schneider said.

LifeSiteNews reached out to the Calgary diocese for comment regarding the bishop's order for not allowing communion on the tongue.

Fr. Wilbert Chin Jon, Moderator of the Curia for the Diocese of Calgary, responded to LifeSiteNews by only confirming that Calgary has the same rules in place as Edmonton.

“The guidelines are from the Alberta bishops,” Chin Jon said.

One parish in Calgary, however, is allowed to continue giving Holy Communion on the tongue. St. John’s, under the direction of a different bishop, is continuing with its practice of Holy Communion “at the altar rail upon the tongue.”

"Bishop Lopes has requested that St. John’s take careful account of the protocols issued by the Bishops of Alberta and so we will be working in harmony with the circulated safety measures,” St. John’s website stated.

“There will be deviations where they relate to our specific circumstances as a parish of the Ordinariate … our Bishop has asked us to retain the current practice of receiving Holy Communion at St. John’s which is normally received at the altar rail upon the tongue. Our celebrating priest cleanses his hands between each communicant (or household) and each person (or household) approaches the altar rails individually at the instruction of the usher. The altar rails are also cleansed between each individual or household."

St. John’s is a traditional Roman Catholic parish of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter, in full communion with Rome, which was created by the Vatican in 2012 “for people nurtured in the Anglican tradition who wish to become Catholic.”

According to their website, parishes and communities in the Ordinariates are “fully Roman Catholic, but retain elements of Anglican traditions in their liturgy, hospitality and ministries.” They are also under their own bishop.

Provinces across Canada began to reopen churches for public worship with crowd limits and health restrictions in May and June.

In their initial phase of allowing places of worship to reopen in May, the Alberta government first only allowed up to 50 worshippers to be present.

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney later announced in June Phase 2 of the province’s post-coronavirus relaunch. Kenney said that as part of Phase 2, churches in Alberta along with all other places of worship will be allowed to fully reopen with no limits on congregation size as long as social distancing and health protocols measures were still in place.

Despite being able to operate without limits, most Catholic churches in Alberta have imposed size limits, and Mass-goers must pre-register to attend.

In churches in the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Edmonton, the distribution of Holy Communion is done with single-use disposable wooden spoons. They are burnt after use and then “properly disposed after usage” according to the Eparchy’s “Re-Opening of Churches and the Resumption of Public Liturgical Services guidelines.”

The Archdiocese of Winnipeg has a similar policy in place for the distribution of Holy Communion as Calgary and Edmonton, stating that it “is to be distributed only on the hand of each communicant with great care not to make physical contact.”

In the province of Saskatchewan, the Diocese of Saskatoon, which makes up the northern part of the province, allows for communion on the tongue under certain conditions.

Their coronavirus directives for the resumption of Mass state that if wishing to receive on the tongue, they must be the last in line, and after responding ‘Amen,’ they are asked to open their mouth “widely and extend their tongue far enough so that the Sacred Host can be placed on the tongue. This is to prevent the host from falling and in order for the priest to avoid any contact with the communicant.”

The priest is to then “disinfect between communicants with the exception of those receiving from the same household.”

The Archdiocese of Vancouver’s coronavirus guidelines state that the “faithful have the right to receive Communion in the hand or on the tongue.”

Similar to the guidelines from the Saskatoon diocese, Vancouver’s note that if one is wishing to receive on the tongue one must be the last in line, and that it is recommended that “the minister purify his fingers and use hand sanitizer after each person who receives on the tongue.

Govt is using masks and vaccines as ‘tools of control’: rising Canadian political star Sloan

The Conservative leadership hopeful blasted mandatory vaccines, masks, and govt-imposed COVID restrictions.

PETITION: No to mandatory vaccination for the coronavirus! Sign the petition here.

August 12, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – Conservative leadership hopeful Derek Sloan came out blasting government-imposed COVID-19 restrictions as “overreach,” saying masks and vaccines have “become tools of control” and not “enhancers of health.”

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) made the statement in an email message sent to his followers on Monday titled “Is Trudeau gearing up to impose mandatory vaccines?”

“Too many people in power have had a taste of greater power and are now embracing the idea of ruling over us, rather than governing,” Sloan wrote. “In the hands of such people, things like masks and vaccines become tools of control, not enhancers of health.”

Sloan went on to say that “now more than ever” is the time to “speak out against government overreach that uses this public health crisis as a cover to ‘temporarily’ remove liberties that will never be restored.”

In the email, Sloan referred to the fact that in June the federal government under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau placed an order for 37 million sets of syringes along with bandages and disinfecting wipes from the Canadian branch of the medical company Becton Dickinson.

In late July, the federal government ordered 38 million more syringes.

On August 5, the Canadian government signed COVID-19 vaccine deals with Pfizer and Moderna for their respective mRNA-based coronavirus vaccines.

In the email, Sloan suggested that the federal government ordered so many syringes because they might be planning on “mandating” a coronavirus vaccine.

“But if a COVID-19 vaccine is produced, is the Liberal government planning on mandating it? Is that why those syringes were ordered?” Sloan wrote.

“Whether or not the Liberal government is planning on making a COVID-19 vaccine mandatory is a very serious question we need to start asking. … By the end of October, when delivery is promised, Canada will have enough syringes to give every Canadian two doses of something, and it isn’t hard to imagine what they are anticipating that might be.”

The Trudeau government announced in May that Health Canada approved the Chinese-made coronavirus vaccine Ad5-nCoV to be used in human clinical trials in Canada. However, Ad5-nCoV has yet to be used in human trials in Canada, as its shipment has been hindered due to Chinese customs delaying its delivery to Canada. Ad5-nCoV was co-developed by the Beijing Institute of Biotechnology and the Chinese firm CanSino Biologics Inc. (CanSinoBIO)

On May 12, Canada’s National Research Council (NRC) announced a collaboration with CanSinoBIO to test and develop Ad5-nCoV in Canada.

LifeSiteNews reported at the time that the vaccine candidate Ad5-nCoV uses the HEK293 cell line, which is made from fetal cells harvested from an aborted baby decades ago.

As for the Pfizer and Moderna mRNA-based vaccine candidates, according to the John Paul II Medical Research Institute, mRNA vaccines “do not use cells. They are free from using aborted fetal cells.”

“However, mRNA vaccines are unproven, to date, in creating a successful FDA-approved vaccine.”

In the August 10 email, Sloan quoted Canada Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry Navdeep Bains, who said recently that “with regards to making it mandatory/keeping it voluntarily (sic), that’s something that we’ll closely work with Dr. Tam and Minister Hajdu on, to determine when we get to that stage how to proceed.”

Bains made the vaccination comment on August 5 at the press conference announcing the Canadian government's new deals with Pfizer and Moderna.

Sloan wrote that Bains' words were “not reassuring words.”

Sloan said in early July that if elected prime minister he would introduce a law that would ban provinces from forcing “vaccinations on their residents, including children.”

He made the comment in response to New Brunswick provincial Bill 11, which would have effectively mandated kids to be vaccinated to attend public schools by removing religious and philosophical vaccine exemptions from existing law, leaving only a medical exemption with doctor approval as the only opt-out.

That bill was defeated in late June as lawmakers rejected the removal of “non-medical” religious and philosophical vaccine exemptions.

Only Ontario and New Brunswick have made certain vaccines mandatory via legislation, with some non-medical exemptions allowed, for children to attend public schools.

In the province of British Columbia, parents now must provide their child’s immunization records for their kids to be enrolled in public and private schools.

Vaccines are not mandatory in Canada as each province is responsible for their healthcare delivery.

In July, LifeSiteNews reached out to Sloan for comment regarding how he would accomplish amending the Canada Health Act so that he could keep his promise to ban provinces from forcing vaccines on residents.

Sloan replied by saying that his government would use the Canada Health Act to make sure that the provinces and municipal agencies they fund never force any type of vaccine on Canadians.

“I oppose any mandatory vaccinations on the Canadian public, both for a future COVID vaccine and for vaccines in general … that is why a Sloan government will use the Canada Health Act to ensure that provinces and the municipal agencies they fund never do this,” Sloan told LifeSiteNews.

Sloan is the only CPC leadership candidate who has come out against the idea of “any” mandatory vaccinations and has made media headlines for being an outspoken pro-life and pro-family voice among the CPC leadership candidates.

Dr. Leslyn Lewis is the only other candidate who identifies as pro-family and pro-life, with former MP Peter MacKay and MP Erin O’Toole identifying as pro-abortion.

Both Sloan and Lewis told LifeSiteNews that they oppose COVID-19 vaccines made from an aborted fetal cell line from decades ago.

In the CPC English leaders debate, Sloan said his fellow candidates would “agree with him” that “it’s not right” that Canada has no laws protecting babies from abortion.

This is not the first time Sloan has taken a strong stand against mandatory vaccinations. In May, he said in an email that he is “100 percent against a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination.”

In the August 10 email, Sloan also reiterated his opposition to mandating masks in Canada, and said he remains “100 percent vigilant against the erosion of Canadian civil liberties.”

The CPC leadership race is being held by mail-in ballot. It will conclude August 21.

PETITION: Tell the FDA to reverse its opposition to Hydroxychloroquine and help save lives  Sign petition here.

August 12, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) — There is a growing number of independent, well respected, and non–politically motivated medical experts who say hydroxychloroquine is a safe and helpful antidote to the coronavirus.

So why is the U.S. Food and Drug Administration stopping something that appears to be an all-around net-positive drug? Why is it that the FDA always seems to be inherently opposed to medical freedom and what establishment voices consider “alternative” treatments?

It’s not conspiratorial to suspect that companies that stand to make tens of billions of dollars in profits from the sale of COVID-19 vaccines would want to bury a cheap, safe, and widely available treatment for the virus.

Pharmaceutical companies spend millions of dollars lobbying Congress and the White House every election cycle. We’re seeing this play out right now with the way the coronavirus vaccine is being touted by the likes of Bill and Melinda Gates. Others are saying a vaccine should be mandatory for all Americans going forward.

Since being published less than two weeks ago, LifeSite’s petition calling on the FDA to reverse its opposition to hydroxychloroquine as a possible treatment for COVID-19 has garnered over 20,000 signatures.

This cheap, cost-effective, anti-malaria drug has long been touted as a safe treatment to the Chinese coronavirus by many medical professionals, most especially by the now social media–censored America’s Frontline Doctors group.

This truth-telling organization gathered at its “White Coat Summit” in Washington, D.C. last month, but Google, Facebook, and YouTube effectively erased their viral videos from the internet within hours. LifeSite published a petition calling on these tech tyrants to reinstate the Frontline Doctors’ videos, but so far, Big Tech has not listened to our demands. If you want to join the chorus of 80,000 people who have already added their names to that letter, click here.

In the end, it doesn’t matter if the motivation behind the FDA’s opposition to hydroxychloroquine as a possible cure for COVID-19 is based on partisan politics, the influence of pharmaceuticals, or just bad science. What matters is that Americans and people around the world are dying unnecessarily, and we need to correct this terrible decision immediately.

Please SIGN our petition demanding that the FDA stop its politically motivated, anti-scientific opposition to hydroxychloroquine. Add your name to the petition by clicking here.

As we saw by the grotesque censorship of the Frontline Doctors’ “White Coat Summit” last week, Big Tech has swallowed the political lie, hook, line, and sinker and is now in a full-blown virtue-signaling campaign of censorship against hydroxychloroquine.

Please sign our petition right now. It will be delivered to the Food and Drug Administration and President Trump at the White House as soon as possible. There is no time to waste!

PETITION: Support pastors fighting against oppressive state mandates! Sign the petition here.

August 12, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – Amid ongoing tensions over California’s efforts to quash religious assembly across most of the state, one district attorney says he will not enforce Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom’s executive order on churches in his jurisdiction.

Newsom has banned indoor religious services (along with various types of secular gatherings) in 29 counties representing 80 percent of the state’s population in the name of containing the spread of COVID-19. Numerous churches have defied the order, including Grace Community Church of Sun Valley, Cornerstone Church of Fresno, Destiny Christian Church of Rocklin, and Harvest Rock Church of Pasadena.

In Los Angeles, conflict over the order has intensified to the point that Democrat Mayor Eric Garcetti has ordered that power and water be shut off to buildings where “selfish and irresponsible” gatherings continue to take place.

San Luis Obispo County District Attorney Dan Dow, however, is taking the opposite approach, he told CBN News.

"I strongly feel that it would be against the interest of justice for us to punish criminally citizens choosing to worship God or whatever religion they have at a time when we are going through a pandemic," Dow said. "I mean, if anything, we need people to spend more time in their faith seeking help from the Almighty to answer this coronavirus and to protect our communities and our nation.”

San Luis Obispo County is not among the counties Newsom ordered to close but is on a state watch list due to a rise in coronavirus cases officials blame on an "increase in certain community sector perception that the pandemic is not serious."

“When officials restrict church attendance to a certain number, they attempt to impose a restriction that in principle makes it impossible for the saints to gather as the church,” declared Pastor John MacArthur and the elders of California’s Grace Community Church. “When officials mandate distancing, they attempt to impose a restriction that in principle makes it impossible to experience the close communion between believers that is commanded in Romans 16:16, 1 Corinthians 16:20, 2 Corinthians 13:12, and 1 Thessalonians 5:26. In all those spheres, we must submit to our Lord.”

Across the world, many secular authorities have heavily restricted the right to religious assembly over COVID-19, from in-person gathering to singing to the distribution of Holy Communion, even in some cases banning people from gathering in parking lots and worshipping from within their individual cars.

Court axes ‘Save James’ ruling, mom who wants gender ‘transition’ for 8-yr-old regains decision rights

The order, issued without a proper hearing, allows mother Anne Georgulas power over her son James' medical decisions – and apparently forces James' father to pay for pro-trans counseling that costs $5,000 a month.

PETITION: Support Dad and Texas Governor’s bid to save 8-year-old boy from being ‘turned’ into girl #ProtectJamesYounger! Sign the petition here.

August 12, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – Yesterday, a Dallas judge took away Jeffrey Younger’s say in his son James’ medical, psychological, and psychiatric care, giving that power to James’ mother, who wants to “transition” him into a “girl.” After receiving national attention in October 2019, the bitter parental dispute had ultimately resulted in both parents getting a say in decisions regarding James and his twin, Jude; this ruling effectively reverses that.

James Younger’s mother, Dr. Anne Georgulas, will now be able to enroll the eight-year-old in school as a “girl” named “Luna” and subject him to transgender medical procedures.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz, Governor Greg Abbott, Attorney General Ken Paxton, and many others commented on the case last year as the #SaveJamesYounger hashtag blew up on Twitter.

Yesterday’s ruling effectively reverses Judge Kim Cooks’ October order. After almost a week in court, in October Cooks had granted both parents, Mr. Younger and his ex-wife Dr. Georgulas, a say in medical, psychological, and psychiatric decisions for James and Jude. If the parents could not agree, a court-appointed parenting coordinator would be the tie-breaker. Now, Georgulas – who supports subjecting James to a gender “transition” – will be in charge of those decisions. Georgulas is not even James and Jude’s biological mother; she and her now-ex-husband used an egg donor to conceive the boys via in-vitro fertilization.

Additionally, Judge Cooks had granted the father, Jeffery Younger, 50-50 custody if he attended family counseling with his twin boys and Georgulas. This 50-50 possession was set to begin by January 2020 or June 2020 “as the counselor determines it is appropriate.”

Mr. Younger was especially concerned about medical, psychological, and psychiatric decision making as medical records indicated James had been referred to a local gender “transition” clinic and Georgulas was looking to start the process of medically “transitioning” James into a “girl.”

But in October, Judge Kim Cooks’ ruling found that Georgulas was overly affirming in instances when James supposedly showed a desire to be a girl, including taking him to LGBTQ parades, buying him dresses and fake hair, and enrolling him in kindergarten as a “girl” named “Luna.”

Mr. Younger claims that James does not show any signs of wanting to be a girl when he is with James. He shared with the court that he initially allowed James to wear dresses and girls’ clothing at his home until he found the girls’ clothing in his trash one morning.

Since then, Georgulas’ attorneys have challenged Cooks’ ruling. They filed multiple motions requesting Georgulas be granted additional rights and exclusive decision-making abilities for the boys.

Yesterday, Judge Mary Brown, who was appointed to the case in January, granted Georgulas’ requests to force Mr. Younger to pay for counseling for James and Jude and attend family counseling. Mr. Younger previously objected to both of these requests as he was not allowed a say in the selection of the boys’ counselor or the family counselor.

The “Save James” Facebook page, run by individuals who support Mr. Younger’s cause, claims counseling will cost Mr. Younger $5,000 a month, in addition to a $10,000 retainer required by the counselor. Court documents do not specify the cost for counseling or the retainer.

According to the “Save James” Facebook page, Judge Brown’s order will also allow Georgulas to enroll James in school as “Luna.” Court documents indicate that Younger wanted to pull the boys out of school in favor of homeschooling.

Judge Brown’s ruling came without the hearing that was scheduled to take place yesterday. There was no explanation why Judge Brown issued her order without the proper hearing.

According to the “Save James” Facebook page, there is “a special evidentiary hearing is scheduled for September,” to review the current orders.

Pro-life leaders urge Trump FDA to ban abortion pill: ‘imminent hazard to public health’

URGENT PETITION: Tell the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade! Sign the petition here.

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 12, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – As the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) goes to court to prevent the abortion pill RU-486 from being distributed without an in-person medical consultation, two prominent pro-life figures are making the case for federal health officials to pull the drug from the market entirely.

Earlier this year, the FDA restricted abortionists from dispensing the pill without seeing their patients in-person on the grounds that “to ensure that: (1) at the time of dispensing, the patient has the opportunity to receive counseling about the risk of serious complications associated with Mifeprex and what to do should they arise; and (2) there is no delay in the patient receiving their Mifeprex prescription, which could increase the risks of serious bleeding or infection.”

Left-wing groups have challenged the measure, which is currently pending in federal court. On Wednesday, Live Action president Lila Rose and the Charlotte Lozier Institute’s professor Michael New published an op-ed in the Washington Examiner “demanding the removal of this deadly drug from the U.S. market.”

“In addition to the more than 3.7 million children legally killed by the abortion pill, there is a significant body of research showing that chemical abortions pose serious health risks to women,” Rose and New argued. “For instance, a 2015 study that appeared in Obstetrics and Gynecology analyzed comprehensive data from Medicaid billing records in California. It found that chemical abortions result in a complication rate four times higher than that of first-trimester surgical abortions. The risk of a major complication with a chemical abortion was nearly twice as high as the risk of a major complication with a first-trimester surgical abortion. Additionally, a 2009 study of over 42,000 women from Finland found that 20 percent of women who obtained chemical abortions experienced an ‘adverse event’ afterward.”

The piece goes on to detail a Live Action-commissioned survey that found evidence that misinformation is driving public support for RU-486, and that public opinion would significantly change if given the facts, even among those who said they were “unsure” or “pro-choice” on abortion.

“Forty-five percent of people initially thought the abortion pill should be available,” the piece states. “Participants then watched a video that informed viewers of how the abortion pill works to end pregnancy, explaining that during a chemical abortion, a woman will experience heavy bleeding and likely encounter the remains of her baby. After the video, a plurality opposed the abortion pill, and net approval of the abortion pill regimen fell by 17 percentage points.”

The op-ed complements a letter sent least month to FDA commissioner Stephen Hahn, signed by 23 pro-life leaders including Rose, the American Association of Pro-Life OB/GYNs’ Donna Harrison, the Radiance Foundation’s Ryan Bomberger and the Center for Medical Progress’s David Daleiden.

“According to the Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the abortion pill poses a four-times higher risk of complication than surgical abortion in the first trimester,” the letter says. “Despite these risks, the abortion industry has, for years, sought the total removal of all safety protocols and has even encouraged illegal means to circumvent REMS” (Risk Evaluation Mitigation Strategy requirements).

“For these reasons, we urge you to pull the abortion pill from the U.S. market immediately and declare it an imminent hazard to the public health under 21 CFR § 2.5,” the letter concluded. “We also encourage your continued efforts to stop the illegal trafficking of black market abortion pills into US commerce, and to fight back against the abortion industry’s radical push to overturn REMS in the courts.”

URGENT PETITION: Tell the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade! Sign the petition here.

August 12, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – The pro-life movement has strong opinions about former Vice President Joe Biden’s selection of California Sen. Kamala Harris to be his running mate, arguing that it brings the pro-abortion absolutism of the Democrat presidential ticket into sharper focus.

Biden made the announcement Tuesday, calling Harris a “fearless fighter for the little guy, and one of the country’s finest public servants.” Both have endorsed plans to enshrine effectively unlimited abortion-on-demand into federal law, which would use the federal Justice Department to tie the hands of states that try to enact even modest pro-life restrictions.

David Daleiden, head of the pro-life investigative group Center for Medical Progress, wrote that from his firsthand experience, he considered Harris the “greatest threat to First Amendment civil rights our country has ever seen”:

During her time as Attorney General of California, Harris played a key role in defending Planned Parenthood over its sale of aborted baby parts (which violated multiple federal laws, according to undercover video of abortion industry personnel). Most of the footage was taken in California, yet Harris announced she would investigate CMP journalists rather than Planned Parenthood, and went on to raid Daleiden’s home while accepting the abortion giant’s donations for her Senate run.

Numerous pro-life organizations called on Harris to resign over the apparent conflict of interest, and Daleiden’s attorneys cited leaked emails that showed Harris’ office coordinating with Planned Parenthood to draft legislation to criminalize undercover investigations like CMP’s.

In May, Daleiden filed a lawsuit against Harris, Planned Parenthood, and California Attorney General Xavier Becerra for a “brazen, unprecedented, and ongoing conspiracy to selectively use California’s video recording laws as a political weapon to silence disfavored speech.”

Many prominent pro-life figures had much to say about Harris’s record, as well:

“For Americans who vote pro-life first the choice is clear for November, if they check the record,” Students for Life president Kristan Hawkins said. “Sen. Kamala Harris has already proved that she will use any legal authority available to her to target pro-life Americans, and, in plans announced during her Presidential run, she was direct in saying she wanted more power.”

“Kamala Harris has been bought and paid for by Planned Parenthood, which wields incredible political power on the left,” Operation Rescue president Troy Newman said. “Whatever Planned Parenthood says, goes in the Democrat Party. Harris was Planned Parenthood’s pick.”

Harris “believes that no one should be allowed to be appointed to the court or any administrative government post who ever belonged to a religious institution, organization, club, school, or denomination that views abortion, homosexual practice, or transgenderism as sin,” noted Houston Baptist University theology professor Robert A. J. Gagnon. “How can any Christian vote for such a person or even fail to cast an effective vote to stop her election?”

Gagnon added that a “vote for Biden/Harris is a vote for child abuse (cross-sex puberty blockers, mutilation surgery), mandatory Drag Queen Story Hour and “transgender” speech rules, and abortion; in short, an all-out assault on the youngest in our society and the marginalization and persecution of parents and other adults who come to their defense. Don’t be foolish.”

As a Senate candidate, Harris bragged about forcing religiously-owned companies and pro-life pregnancy centers to violate their consciences. During Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings, Harris tried to get him to call the Obergefell ruling that forced states to recognize same-sex “marriage” one of the “great moments in the history of the Supreme Court.” In December 2018, she suggested Trump judicial nominee Brian Buescher’s membership in the Catholic fraternal organization Knights of Columbus was problematic because of its pro-life, pro-marriage stances.

In addition to their shared support of abortion-on-demand, both Biden and Harris have positioned themselves as firm allies of the LGBT lobby, from Biden’s support of writing transgenderism into federal nondiscrimination law to Harris pandering to LGBT audiences by declaring her gender pronouns.

PETITION: Urge Catholic bishops to refuse Holy Communion to pro-abortion Biden! Sign the petition here.

UNITED STATES, August 12, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – Pro-abortion former Vice President and 2020 Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has released another campaign video touting his supposed Catholic faith and friendship with Pope Francis.

The short video released last week shows Biden and Pope Francis smiling and greeting each other, while a voiceover of Biden speaks about an occasion when the two men met at the Vatican.

Biden goes on to praise Pope Francis and identify his presidential campaign with the values displayed in Francis’ pontificate.

Biden says that he met a group of nuns after leaving his meeting with Pope Francis. To Biden, the nuns “epitomize everything Pope Francis talked about in his homily and what he stands for.”

Biden identified what Pope Francis stands for as “generosity to other people,” “reaching out,” and “making it a point to understand that we are our brother’s keeper.”

“We are our brother’s keeper,” Biden says. “We have an obligation. I think that’s the way, the only way, we’re going to make the world better and safer.”

Last month, Biden promised if elected president, he will reinstate the Obama administration’s birth control mandate forcing Catholic nuns to participate in the provision of contraception.

Earlier this year Biden released another campaign video featuring Pope Francis in which Biden says that he goes to Mass and says the rosary and that faith is what has helped him through the most difficult moments in his life.

Biden has made taxpayer-funded abortion on demand and enshrining into law the many demands of the LGBT lobby a key part of his 2020 presidential platform.

He has said that if he wins the election, he will direct the Justice Department to “do everything in its power” to block state laws that place any restriction on abortion, including parental notification requirements, ultrasound laws, and waiting periods.

After the outbreak of the coronavirus crisis, when restrictions were placed on various medical services, Biden said abortion is an “essential health care service” and that it is necessary “to ensure that women have access to all health services during this crisis.”

In June Planned Parenthood, the world’s largest abortion business, endorsed Biden for president and later that month Biden affirmed his support of abortion “under any circumstance.” Last month, Biden promised to restore domestic and overseas funding to the abortion industry, and undo the Trump administration’s efforts not to finance abortions with federal money. Yesterday he announced vehemently pro-abortion Sen. Kamala Harris of California as his partner on the Democrat presidential ticket.

During her time as Attorney General of California, Harris played a key role in defending Planned Parenthood over its sale of aborted baby parts (which violated multiple federal laws, according to undercover video of abortion industry personnel). Most of the footage was taken in California, yet Harris announced she would investigate the Center for Medical Progress (CMP) journalists rather than Planned Parenthood, and went on to raid the home of CMP head David Daleiden while accepting the abortion giant’s donations for her Senate run.

“By selecting a running mate who is staunchly pro-abortion and anti-religious liberty, Joe Biden has once again made it clear that his self-styled ‘Catholic identity’ is something which can be cast aside whenever it's politically expedient,” commented Brian Burch, president of CatholicVote. “Like Joe Biden himself, Kamala Harris favors radical abortion policies including late-term abortion paid for by taxpayers, as well as forcing Catholic religious orders like the Little Sisters of the Poor to provide abortion drugs in their healthcare plans.”

Burch added, “In November 2018, Harris ruthlessly criticized Brian Buescher, a Catholic federal district court nominee from Nebraska, about his affiliation with the Knights of Columbus. It is clear that a Biden-Harris ticket threatens the values Catholics in this country hold most dear.”

Earlier this year, Biden said on social media that “transgender equality is the civil rights issue of our time.”

As vice president, the first “wedding” Biden officiated was between two men.

Last month several well-known U.S. Catholics priests said that because of Biden’s pro-abortion stance and LGBT activism that Catholics cannot support him.

But last year, Biden told a PBS interviewer that Pope Francis gives him Communion, after a Catholic priest followed Church law and denied him Communion because of his public support for abortion.

Pope Franics has never publicly criticized Biden, but last year compared Trump’s border security to the Berlin Wall that divided communist East Germany from freedom in the West. In December, Pope Francis appeared to draw a comparison between Herod and Trump.

In February 2016, during the Republican presidential primaries, Pope Francis commented on Trump while on the papal plane returning from Mexico.

“A person who only thinks about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian,” he said, according to a transcript of his remarks. In the same press scrum, Pope Francis said that he would not comment on Italy’s same-sex civil union legislation “because the Pope is for everybody and he can’t insert himself in the specific internal politics of a country.”

PETITION: Demand Planned Parenthood return $80M improperly taken from coronavirus emergency fund! Sign the petition here.

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 12, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler of Georgia is leading Republican lawmakers in seeking answers from the federal government on two high-profile scandals of the abortion industry: Planned Parenthood’s sale of organs from aborted babies, and its more recent collection of millions of dollars meant for emergency relief to small businesses.

Last month, the U.S. Treasury Department and Small Business Administration (SBA) revealed that the federal Paycheck Protection Program, (PPP), created by the $2 trillion CARES Act legislation enacted this spring, had given six-figure or higher loans to no less than 43 Planned Parenthood affiliates across the country. Taken together, Planned Parenthood affiliates received somewhere between $65.8 million and $135 million from PPP.

The PPP has already notified the improper recipients in the abortion industry and elsewhere that they need to return the money, and now a group of 29 Republican senators wants to know how the money went out in the first place.

“Statements made by Planned Parenthood suggest that the submissions were done with prior knowledge that the organizations were not eligible for the PPP loans,” reads the first letter, dated August 6 and addressed to Brian Miller, Treasury’s Special Inspector General for Pandemic Recovery. “We ask that you investigate how these affiliates were able to obtain PPP loans despite their ineligibility under the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) affiliation rules, whether any Planned Parenthood affiliates knowingly provided false information in their PPP loan applications, and to what extent the parent organization, Planned Parenthood for America (PPFA), was involved in the application process for said loans.”

The second letter, signed by 28 Republicans and addressed to Attorney General William Barr and FBI Director Chris Wray, requests an update on any federal investigation of Planned Parenthood over the notorious baby-parts scandal first exposed in 2015.

That year, undercover journalists with the Center for Medical Progress (CMP) caught numerous abortion industry figures on video discussing their fetal organ harvesting practices, in the process seemingly admitting to several federal crimes related to profiting off human tissue and altering abortion procedures for reasons other than the mother’s health.

“We urge you to investigate not only the extent to which Planned Parenthood was involved in the sale of fetal tissue, but also the disturbing descriptions by Planned Parenthood workers of infants born alive who were left to die or killed through organ harvesting,” the letter says.

Interest in the scandal reignited in June 2020 when CMP released footage from the sworn testimony of officials from the original investigation. In that footage, they admit that they were aware of babies having been born alive, and suggested that they were murdered soon after.

CMP’s original bombshell exposé of Planned Parenthood occurred late into former President Barack Obama’s second term, so naturally the abortion giant didn’t have to worry about a federal investigation. Pro-lifers were hopeful things would change when President Donald Trump took over, and late in 2017 the Trump administration requested documents from the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee’s review of the case.

No charges were ever brought, however, nor has the administration updated the public on any follow-up actions.

Loeffler’s letter follows a similar request made last year, when 67 members of Congress wrote a letter to Barr and Wray seeking an update on the investigation, including why no actions have been taken yet. Neither the FBI nor the Justice Department has updated the public on the state of the investigation since.

Eric Metaxas: Riots spurred by Cultural Marxists could destroy America

Eric Metaxas insists that Americans are going to have to 'fight very hard' to keep their country this year.

August 12, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) — Although the riots are dying out across the country, rioters in Portland are still going strong and recently started burning Bibles. Conservative author, speaker, and radio host Eric Metaxas says that in a way, this is good because it exposes the true values of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) and Antifa movements.

“I’m very glad they’re burning Bibles because we can see very clearly what the agenda is behind the BLM/ANTIFA movement. These people are cultural Marxists,” Metaxas says.

In this week’s episode of The Van Maren Show, Metaxas and Van Maren discuss the riots, cultural Marxism, and how America is “on the brink now of losing everything.”

Watch the full episode:

Metaxas is a prolific author and speaker. Notably, he was the keynote speaker at the 2012 National Prayer Breakfast. Metaxas has received numerous awards and much acclaim for his writings and speeches.

Van Maren and Metaxas begin by speaking about the BLM and Antifa riots and the cultural Marxism being pushed by both of these movements. A big issue with cultural Marxism is that because they do not believe in God, they don’t believe a human being is made in the image of God. Therefore, “crushing human beings for what you call the greater good is perfectly fine.”

Not only is this belief directly opposed to the sanctity of the unborn, but it is opposed to the sanctity of any human life. If we don’t understand the foundational principles guiding these movements, we risk entering “the brave new world.” Metaxas encourages listeners to fight these movements with “everything we have, including, obviously, prayer.”

Benjamin Franklin, when asked about the type of government created by the Constitution, replied that it was a republic, but only if you [the people] can keep it. America was founded on the principle that people are moral — maybe not religious per se, but virtuous, moral people.

“You don’t need to be a Christian yourself, but you need to understand the virtue and the faith that have made all of this possible will continue to keep it possible. And if it goes away, people cease to govern themselves,” Metaxas shares with listeners.

Metaxas points out that we have ceased to teach Americans to be virtuous and moral, and we have ceased to teach them our history to understand the importance of virtues and morals — a bad combination.

When history isn’t taught, one side starts to take over and control the historical narrative. Van Maren and Metaxas agree that it is important for people to learn about the heroes of history and what motivated them, not just the villains.

Metaxas encourages listeners to read his books, Seven Men and Seven Women, about people who were heroes, mainly motivated by their faith, to do the right thing at the right time.

Listen to the full episode:

When asked about the next few months, Metaxas replied, “The people of the United States of America are going to have to fight very hard.”

He sees this as an existential crisis facing Americans and calls listeners to learn about the first two existential crises faced by Americans: Paul Revere’s ride and the battles at Lexington and Concord and Lincoln and the Civil War.

If we can turn to the strength presented by Americans during those times, we can gird ourselves to survive this current crisis. This will be a hard election, but we must not lose hope; we must fight. Metaxas quotes Lincoln: “We’re the last best hope of Earth.”

US bishop tells Catholic flock they’re obliged to return to Sunday Mass

The South Dakota bishop is thought to be the first in U.S. to reinstate Sunday Mass obligation.

PETITION: Urge Catholic bishops to refuse Holy Communion to pro-abortion Biden! Sign the petition here.

SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota, August 11, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) — A South Dakota bishop is changing his COVID-related order dispensing Catholics from their obligation to attend Sunday Mass, citing “pastoral concern for the souls entrusted to my spiritual care.”

Bishop Donald DeGrood announced in an August 10 pastoral letter that effective next Sunday, the dispensation will “apply only to those at increased risk for severe illness and those responsible for their care.”

DeGrood was consecrated bishop of Sioux Falls, a diocese east of the Missouri River with some 124 parishes and more than 120,000 baptized members, on February 13, 2020 — a day before he turned 55, and a month before the coronavirus crisis slammed the United States.

As the country locked down, all Catholic dioceses canceled public Masses while the bishops simultaneously granted the faithful a dispensation from their Sunday Mass obligation.

Bishop DeGrood’s diocese resumed public Masses on May 15, and he appears to be the first American prelate to significantly modify his Sunday Mass dispensation.

His pastoral letter also includes notably lenient measures for celebrating Mass and gives parish priests wide discretion on their implementation.

According to DeGrood’s directives, masks are not mandated, Holy Communion can be received on the tongue, holy water may be restored in receptacles, priests and deacons are not to wear masks when distributing Holy Communion, pre-registration for Mass is no longer to be requested, the sign of the peace and passing the collection basket are discouraged, and the practice of “prudent and reasonable” social distancing and hygiene is encouraged.

DeGrood wrote that he has been “praying and monitoring the situation” and that the rates of infection and numbers of people who became significantly ill from the virus have not been as widespread or significant in the diocese “as it had been projected when the general dispensation was granted.”

As of August 10, “of the 44 counties in our diocese, seven have no active cases, 22 have one to 10 active cases, and 15 have 11 or more active cases. Thanks be to God, the hospitals within our state have not suffered an overwhelming surge as was initially feared,” DeGrood said.

Moreover, at that time, “63 people are hospitalized with a COVID-19 diagnosis out of a total of 1,146 known active cases,” and these “account for 3 percent of the total hospital bed capacity, 3 percent of intensive care unit bed capacity, and 5 percent of ventilator capacity for the state,” he said.

“After receiving clarity through prayer, consultation with clergy and others, and in light of this data, effective on August 17, 2020, I am changing the dispensation to apply only to those at increased risk for severe illness, and those responsible for their care,” the bishop stated.

“It is important for all in the diocese to know that this modification is made out of pastoral concern for the souls entrusted to my spiritual care.”

DeGrood also reiterated why Catholics are obliged to attend Mass on Sunday, noting that the Catholic faith “teaches us so beautifully” through the Catechism of the Catholic Church that the “Sunday celebration of the Lord’s Day and his Eucharist is at the heart of the Church’s life” (CCC 2179).

According to the Catechism, the “celebration of Sunday observes the moral commandment inscribed by nature in the human heart to render to God an outward, visible, public, and regular worship ‘as a sign of his universal beneficence to all’. Sunday worship fulfills the moral command of the Old Covenant, taking up its rhythm and spirit in the weekly celebration of the Creator and Redeemer of his people, p. 2176,” DeGrood said.

“What material food produces in our bodily life, Holy Communion wonderfully achieves in our spiritual life,” the bishop said.

For those Catholics “not at increased risk of severe illness, the Church has long recognized circumstances in which the faithful may be excused from Mass attendance even without a dispensation from the bishop,” DeGrood noted.

In the case of the coronavirus crisis, “morally justifiable reasons for not attending Sunday Mass may include regular contact with a person with increased risk; recent, prolonged contact with a symptomatic person; or a significant emotional response from fear of contracting COVID-19,” he said.

A footnote cites South Dakota’s Department of Health Guidelines definition of “prolonged contact” as “having been within six feet of another individual for 15 minutes or longer.”

For Catholics who want “to avoid attending Sunday Mass in person due to significant fear or some other serious reason, the Church teaches us that we must carefully discern whether the fear is morally justifiable, or whether such fear is inordinate (not reasonable) and, therefore, not based on a prudent examination of reality,” wrote the bishop.

“But it is essential that these serious questions are discerned in prayer and that the decisions are made in good faith, based upon objective data.”

Another footnote specifies that for “the purposes of the canonical dispensation herein, ‘those at increased risk for severe illness’ is exclusive to those aged 65 and older and those with the following medical conditions: cancer; chronic kidney disease; chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; immunocompromised state (weakened immune system) from solid organ transplant; obesity (body mass index of 30 or higher); serious heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, or cardiomyopathies; sickle cell disease; and type 2 diabetes mellitus.”

Bishop DeGrood’s letter can be read here.

Teacher complains online learning lets parents see ‘what happens’ at ‘gender/sexuality’ lessons

The Philadelphia teacher fretted that parents' ability to look in on their kids' classes will make it harder to 'encourage vulnerability' and will 'damage' 'honest conversations' with students.

PETITION: Support school choice and call on the U.S. Senate to pass the SCHOOL Act! Sign the petition here.

PHILADELPHIA, August 11, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) — A teacher within the school district of Philadelphia is lamenting the increased chance of parental oversight if classes are taught online amid the coronavirus crisis — especially when it comes to so-called sex education.

“I am most intrigued by the damage that ‘helicopter/snowplow’ parents can do in honest conversations about gender/sexuality,” the teacher said.

The teacher, Matthew R. Kay, works for Philadelphia’s Science Leadership Academy. In 2018, he published his book Not Light, but Fire: How to Lead Meaningful Race Conversations in the Classroom.

While his tweets are private, one Twitter user posted a screenshot of his thread of complaints.

“So, this fall, virtual class discussions will have many potential spectators — parents, siblings, etc. — in the same room,” Kay began. “We’ll never be quite sure who is overhearing the discourse. What does this do for our equity/inclusion work?”

“How much have students depended on the (somewhat) secure barriers of our physical classrooms to encourage vulnerability? How many of us have installed some version of ‘what happens here stays here’ to help this?”

Kay then went on to mention “honest conversations about gender/sexuality” as an issue where parents who are involved in their children’s education would be unhelpful.

Kay admitted that “‘conservative’ parents are my chief concern” but said “that the damage can come from the left too. If we are engaged in the messy work of destabilizing a kids [sic] racism or homophobia or transphobia — how much do we want their classmates’ parents piling on?”

The Family Research Council (FRC) in May released a publication on “Sex Education in Public Schools” outlining how “sex ed programs push the limits on what is appropriate, both in terms of the material presented to students and the age at which it is presented.” Often, parents are unaware that these things are happening at school.

According to the publication, “[p]arents have two main concerns about sex ed to-day: That it sexualizes children and that it is load-ed with LGBTQ indoctrination.”

“Even if parents identify problematic lessons in sex ed and manage to opt their kids out, that won’t protect them from sex propaganda elsewhere in school, sometimes where they least expect it,” Cathy Ruse, the author of the publication, pointed out.

Sometimes, parents are intentionally deceived about what their children are taught at school. Parents in Fairfax County, Virginia are told that an abstinence lesson will talk about “the benefits of abstaining from sexual activity until marriage.” However, as Ruse found out, “the word ‘marriage’ never appears anywhere in the lesson!”

In any case, students are not simply taught how sexual intercourse works, focusing on the biology of it. Instead, pre-pubescent children in Austin, Texas, for instance, are encouraged “to consider ‘vaginal intercourse,’ ‘oral intercourse,’ and ‘anal intercourse.’”

“Schools in Indiana actually send teens shopping for condoms, with a worksheet to fill out comparing brands, prices, lubrication, and whether or not they are comfortable shopping in the store.”

Additionally, the term “consent” is no longer used exclusively “to equip kids to resist committing, or being a victim of, sexual assault.” Rather, “[t]he ‘consent’ movement seems less about avoiding assault and more about promoting sex and sexual rights.”

Sex education is sometimes used to promote abortion, with children being encouraged to keep even the killing of a baby secret from their parents.

“In California, schools have partnered with Planned Parenthood and the American Civil Liberties Union to instruct students on how to get secret abortions without telling their parents, according to a video released by the California organization Our Watch.”

Even some Democrats are tiring of COVID-19 tyranny

August 12, 2020 (American Thinker) — One of the things that struck me recently was how many stories involved people pushing back. They're pushing back against the Black Lives Matter narrative, they're pushing back against cancel culture, and they're pushing back against the Wuhan virus lockdown. In other words, after being beaten around the head for a few months, Americans are beginning to remember that they're a free people in a constitutionally run nation. They're finally getting mad as hell, and they're not going to take it anymore (as Michael Walsh noted almost a month ago).

Everyone's been noticing that America's blue-state governors have some bizarre ideas about how the lockdowns they've imposed are supposed to work. Big stores get to stay open; small stores with fewer customers are shut down. Marijuana shops are open; hairstylists are shut down. Left-leaning mass rallies with thousands of people are good; going to the beach is bad. Funerals for famous criminals and politicians can be packed; funerals and church services for ordinary people are dangerous. The only standard seems to be what best serves the state's coffers, the politicians' wallets, and the Democrats' need for theater.

People are chafing to return to ordinary life. They need to get out of their houses and back to their jobs. And they need to return to their familiar, uplifting rituals. My favorite report from Thursday involved an enterprising church that held a service in a Walmart:

Meanwhile, in San Mateo County, part of true, blue coastal California (it gave Hillary Clinton 75.67% of its votes), Scott Morrow, the county health officer, put out a public statement that effectively said he was done with Governor Newsom's insane shutdown mandates:

I wish to apologize to all the businesses that were closed this week. I am not supportive of these actions and, for San Mateo County, I believe they are misdirected and will cause more harm than good. This action is a bit like looking for your lost keys under a streetlight even though you lost them miles away. If you have read my previous statements, you know I put great import on balance. We have to minimize spread while not destroying everything else in the process. I watch the news and I certainly get alarmed by some of what's going on in the country, and even in our state. But I have to make the best decisions and recommendations based on our data which reflects the situation in our community. Our numbers indicate we are in a relatively stable state in regards to the spread of the virus. For those who want to drive the spread to zero, this is simply not possible. Even with the very restrictive measures put into place in the Spring, we could only drive the Re at that time to about 0.9. The best point estimate we currently have for Re is about 0.98. Our Re has also been slowly dropping for at least 4 weeks. The Re (which can be calculated in a number of ways) is a forecast subject to all the vagaries of forecasts, but the Re trend downward is an encouraging sign. Over the last few weeks, our hospitalizations are stable and/or decreasing. Recently, our deaths have been low. Even with the current data meltdown at the State related to the counting of new cases, I remain of the same opinion.

Read the rest of his anti-shutdown manifesto here.

Actress Gina Carano, a former MMA fighter and part of the Star Wars film franchise, refused to back down when the woke crowd went after her for a tweet suggesting that it's time to stand up to the mob. For her tweet, she used the famous photo of August Landmesser, who, in 1936, was the only man in a mob of Nazis refusing to give the Nazi salute:

Many thought Carano was tweeting in honor of Jonathan Isaacs, the 23-year-old on the Orlando Magic NBA team who refused to kneel during the National Anthem:

The poor kid later tore his ACL, at which point an ESPN radio host asked, is it "funny the guy who refused to kneel immediately blew out his knee?" In the face of that cruelty, many understood Carano's tweet to be a show of encouragement. No wonder the leftist trolls went after Carano:

True to her MMA background, Carano didn't apologize; she doubled down:

And if you're not convinced that the worm is turning, look at the nice Blue Lives Matter (i.e., pro-police) mask that Tiger Woods wore at the PGA Championship:

Americans are rediscovering themselves and just in time. For every person who fights back in a just cause, another ten people find their courage. This hokey movie scene from 1940 makes just that point:

Satanic temple offers ‘religious abortion ritual’ to affirm mother killing her child

The Satanic Temple is appealing to the Religious Freedom Restoration Act to assert its religious right to facilitate abortions unburdened by state restrictions.

August 12, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) — For some time now, the Satanic Temple — headquartered in Salem, Massachusetts due to the witch trial connection — has been campaigning for abortion. Back in June, I wrote in this space that “Lucien Greaves, their creepy-looking leader, has turned his organization into a military vehicle of the culture war,” and he responded on Twitter to the effect that he was pleased with this characterization. The Satanic Temple has been attempting to utilize religious liberty laws in its favor, demanding equal access to schools for Satanism and claiming that restricting abortion violates its members’ religious freedom.

The Satanic Temple is now upping its game, launching a campaign titled “Satanic Abortions Are Protected by Religious Liberty Laws.” Abortion, their website states, is a Satanic religious practice:

“In accordance with the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), first trimester abortions are now exempt from unnecessary regulations for all individuals practicing The Satanic Temple’s religious bortion ritual.”

To promote the campaign, the Temple has launched a raffle to raise $100,000 for abortion “rights,” with first prize being a free abortion. (Second place is a Zoom meet-and-greet with Satanic Temple co-founder Lucien Greaves; last-place prizes consist of various swag with the slogan “Thyself Is Thy Master.”)

Follow Jonathon van Maren on Facebook

The Satanic Temple is going even farther in its campaign for unrestricted abortion by officially declaring abortion a formal “Satanic Abortion Ritual”:

The Satanic abortion ritual provides spiritual comfort and affirms bodily autonomy, self-worth, and freedom from coercive forces with the affirmation of TST’s Seven Tenets. The ritual is not intended to convince a person to have an abortion. Instead, it sanctifies the abortion process by instilling confidence and protecting bodily rights when undergoing the safe and scientific procedure.

Laws that violate the Satanic right to kill one’s offspring in the womb include mandatory waiting periods, counseling prior to abortion, compulsory burial of fetal remains, required reading materials, listening to the baby’s heartbeat, and any other practice designed to dissuade a woman or otherwise remind her of her baby’s life and humanity. All of this is to conform to what they refer to as their “Personal Affirmation” mantra: “By my body, my blood, By my will it is done.” No mention is made of the blood of the child, which is what is being shed during an abortion.

The Satanic Temple even provides specific mantras to chant or repeat during each type of abortion. Here, for example, is the suggestion for medical abortions:

Immediately before taking the medication(s) to terminate your pregnancy, look at your reflection to be reminded of your personhood and responsibility to yourself. Focus on your intent, take deep breaths, and make yourself comfortable. When ready, read the Third Tenet aloud to begin the ritual. After swallowing the medication(s), take another deep breath and recite the Fifth Tenet. After you have passed the embryo, return to your reflection, and recite the personal affirmation. Feel doubts dissipating and your confidence growing as you have just undertaken a decision that affirms your autonomy and free will. The religious abortion ritual is now complete.

Satanists claim they do not literally believe in the existence of Satan, but rather admire him as “a symbol of the Eternal Rebel in opposition to arbitrary authority, forever defending personal sovereignty even in the face of insurmountable odds.” In short, if they thought he did exist, they’d be fans. In the meantime, they appear to have an uncanny sense of what practices he approves of and throw themselves into supporting those practices with everything at their disposal.

Their claims that they support “scientific evidence” is ridiculous. Presumably, Temple attendees have not as of yet had the privilege of viewing National Geographic’s In the Womb.

Jonathon’s new podcast, The Van Maren Show, is dedicated to telling the stories of the pro-life and pro-family movement. In this episode, Jonathon interviews  Eric Metaxas, a conservative author, speaker, and radio host, about rioters’ new habit of burning Bibles. The two go on to discuss the riots, cultural Marxism, and how America is “on the brink now of losing everything.” You can subscribe here and listen to the episode below:

August 12, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, in a meditation delivered at the recent annual meeting of the staff of LifeSiteNews, described how important the Kingship of Christ is and how it has been undermined in society, under the influence of Masonic forces. But also in the Church, he added, the papal monarchy and with it the Kingship of Christ have been undermined since the Second Vatican Council.

“And when Paul VI deposed the triple royal diadem with an ostentatious gesture,” the Italian prelate explained in his meditation (see full text below), “as if he was renouncing the sacred vicarious Monarchy, he also removed the Crown from Our Lord, confining His Kingship to a merely eschatological sphere.” As a proof for this diminishment of the Social Kingship of Christ – also within the Church – Viganò points to the fact that the Liturgy of the Feast of Christ the King has been moved to the end of the liturgical year, thereby giving it a more eschatological meaning and less of a meaning in our daily lives.

In the first part of his reflection, which Archbishop Viganò delivered via telephone to some 40 members of the LifeSiteNews team during our annual meeting on August 6, he referred to the Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord of that day. Referring to the scriptural passage speaking on this event, as well as other scriptural passages, the Italian prelate then established the Kingship of Christ over mankind. He explicitly chose this topic for his meditation for LifeSite, “because I believe that in a certain way the focal point of our and your commitment as Catholics may be summarized in it; not only in private and family life but also and above all in social and political life.”

With it, the prelate reminded us that all mankind is called to follow Christ and His Commandments, or, as the Our Father prayer says, “Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Viganò therefore called upon us to “revive our faith in the Universal Kingship of Our Divine Savior,” and he later added that “it is not possible to question the regal character of the work of Jesus Christ. He is King.”

After establishing and reminding us of these crucial facts, Archbishop Viganò went on to describe our current situation. “The fury of the Enemy, who hates the human race,” he expounded, “is unleashed primarily against the doctrine of the Kingship of Christ, because that Kingship is united in the Person of Our Lord, True God and True Man. The secularism of the nineteenth century, fueled by Freemasonry, has succeeded in reorganizing itself into an even more perverse ideology, since it has extended the denial of the royal rights of the Redeemer not only to civil society but also to the Body of the Church.”

That is to say, not only has the Kingship of Christ been increasingly denied in civil society, but also in the Catholic Church. Here, Viganò pointed to the Second Vatican Council which he argued undermined, by weakening the principle of papal monarchy (that is, by strengthening the aspect of collegiality) also the Kingship of Christ, since the Pope is the vicar of Christ on earth.

Stated the prelate:

This attack was consummated with the renunciation by the Papacy of the very concept of this vicarious Kingship of the Roman Pontiff, thereby bringing into the very heart of the Church the demands for democracy and parliamentarianism which had already been used to undermine nations and the authority of rulers. The Second Vatican Council greatly weakened the papal monarchy as a consequence of the implicit denial of the Divine Kingship of the Eternal High Priest, and by doing so inflicted a masterful blow against the institution which until then had stood as a wall of defense against the secularization of Christian society.

By weakening the  “sovereignty of the Vicar,” the “sovereign rights of Christ over His Mystical Body” were weakened. Here, Archbishop Viganò refers to an important and symbolic act by Pope Paul VI on November 13, 1964, when the Pope removed his papal crown from his head and placed it on the altar, in front of 2,000 bishops. As an Aleteia article states: “Following a Mass, attended by 2,000 bishops, the pope rose from his chair and solemnly placed his tiara on the altar. According to news accounts at the time, Pope Paul VI was said to have been moved to make the gesture by discussions of world poverty during meetings of the Ecumenical Council Vatican II.”

Archbishop Viganò, in his meditations, commented on this event as follows: “And when Paul VI deposed the triple royal diadem with an ostentatious gesture, as if he was renouncing the sacred vicarious Monarchy, he also removed the Crown from Our Lord, confining His Kingship to a merely eschatological sphere. The proof of this is the significant changes made to the Liturgy of the Feast of Christ the King and its transfer to the end of the liturgical year.”

The prelate then also reflected upon the question as to whether the Council Fathers were aware that “they in fact ousted Our Lord Jesus Christ, stripping him of the Crown of his social Kingship?” This act, however, had grave consequences. In Viganò's eyes, “the Authority conferred by Our Lord on the Prince of the Apostles has substantially disappeared.” Instead of speaking authoritatively and infallibly, the post-conciliar popes rather chose to speak “in favor of pastorality that created the conditions for equivocal formulations that are strongly suspected of heresy if not bluntly heretical.”

The Italian archbishop and former papal nuncio of Washington, D.C. concluded: “We therefore find ourselves not only besieged in the civil sphere, in which for centuries dark forces have refused the gentle yoke of Christ and imposed the hateful tyranny of apostasy and sin on the nations; but also in the religious sphere, in which the Authority demolishes itself and denies that the Divine King should also reign over the Church, her Pastors and her faithful.”

The consequence of this abandonment of the social Kingship of Christ is, according to Viganò, tyranny: “Also in this case, the sweet yoke of Christ is replaced by the hateful tyranny of the Innovators, who with an authoritarianism not dissimilar to that of their secular counterparts impose a new doctrine, a new morality, and a new liturgy in which the only mention of the Kingship of Our Lord is considered as an awkward legacy from another religion, another Church.”

This new church can be characterized by “clergy who give scandal to the faithful by their reprehensible moral conduct, spreading heresy from the pulpits, favoring idolatry by celebrating the pachamama and the worship of Mother Earth in the name of an eccologism of a clearly Masonic matrix,” he added.

But Archbishop Viganò does not leave us with these distressing insights; on the contrary, he stated, “we have the joy and honor of rebuilding.” There is “a new generation of laity and priests” who are “participating with zeal in this work of reconstruction of the Church for the salvation of souls.” They allow themselves, weak and humble as they are, to be “used by God as docile instruments in his hands.” With our humility and docility, the prelate explained, we may counter those who “rebel against the King in a delusion of omnipotence, uttering their own non serviam.” Here, Our Lady will be at our side. Viganò went on to say that “there can be no Kingship of Christ without the sweet and maternal Queenship of Mary.”

Below is the full text of Viganò’s remarks.

TE ADORET ORBIS SUBDITUS

O ter beata civitas
cui rite Christus imperat,
quae jussa pergit exsequi
edicta mundo caelitus!

Thrice happy city, basking fair
beneath His royal sway,
where at the mandates from His throne
all hearts with joy obey!

Jesus took Peter, James, and his brother John and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them; his face shine like the sun and his clothes became white as light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, conversing with him. Then Peter said to Jesus in reply, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud cast a shadow over them, then from the cloud came a voice that said: “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to him.” When the disciples heard this, they felt prostrate and were very much afraid. But Jesus came and touched them, saying: “Rise, and do not be afraid.” And when the disciples raised their eyes, they saw no one else but Jesus alone. As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus charged them, “Do not tell the vision to anyone until the Son of man has been raised from the dead” (Mt 17: 1-9).

Permit me, dear friends, to share with you some reflections on the Kingship of Our Lord Jesus Christ, manifested in the Transfiguration that we celebrate today, after other significant episodes of the earthly life of the Lord: from the Angels over the Cave of Bethlehem to the Adoration of the Magi to His Baptism in the Jordan River.

I have chosen this theme because I believe that in a certain way the focal point of our and your commitment as Catholics may be summarized in it; not only in private and family life but also and above all in social and political life.

First of all, let us revive our faith in the Universal Kingship of Our Divine Savior.

He is truly the Universal King, that is, he possesses absolute Sovereignty over all creation, over the human race, over all people, even over those who are outside his fold, the Holy Catholic, Apostolic, Roman Church.

Each person is truly a creature of God. Every person owes his entire being to Him, both in his nature as a whole and in each of the individual parts that compose it: body, soul, faculties, intelligence, will, and senses. The actions of these faculties, as well as the actions of all the organs of the body, are gifts of God, whose dominion extends to all of his goods as fruits of His ineffable liberality. The simple consideration of the fact that no one chooses or can choose the family to which he belongs on earth is sufficient to convince us of this fundamental truth of our existence.

From this it follows that Our Lord God is the Sovereign of all men, both considered individually and also united in social groups, since the fact that they form various communities does not mean that they lose their condition as creatures. In fact, the very existence of civil society obeys the designs of God, who made human nature to be social. Thus all people, all nations, from the most primitive to the most civilized, from the very smallest to the superpowers, are all subjected to the Divine Sovereignty and, in and of themselves, have the obligation to recognize this sweet celestial Dominion.

THE KINGSHIP OF JESUS CHRIST

As the Sacred Scriptures frequently attest, God has conferred this Sovereignty on his Only-Begotten Son.

Saint Paul affirms, in a general way, that God made his Son “heir of all things” (Heb 1:2). Saint John, for his part, confirms the thought of the Apostle of the Gentiles in many passages of his Gospel: for example, when he recalls that “the Father does not judge anyone, but He has given all judgment to His Son” (Jn 5:22). The prerogative of administering justice belongs, in fact, to the king, and whoever possesses it does so because he is invested with sovereign power.

This Universal Kingship that the Son has inherited from his Father should not be understood only as the eternal inheritance through which, in his Divine Nature, He has received all of the attributes that make him equal and consubstantial to the First Person of the Most Holy Trinity, in the unity of the Divine Essence.

This Kingship is also attributed in a special way to Jesus Christ inasmuch as he is truly man, the Mediator between heaven and earth. In fact, the mission of the Word Incarnate is precisely the establishment on earth of the Kingdom of God. We observe that the expressions of Sacred Scripture relative to the Kingship of Jesus Christ refer, without a shadow of a doubt, to his condition as man.

He is presented to the world as the Son of King David, for whom he comes to inherit the Throne of his Father, extended to the ends of the earth and made eternal, without a count of years. Thus it was that the Archangel Gabriel announced the dignity of the Son of Mary: “You shall bear a Son, and you shall name Him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of David, his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever and his kingdom shall have no end” (Lk 1:31-33). And, furthermore, the Magi who came from the East to adore him seek him as a King: “Where is the newborn King of the Jews?” they ask Herod, on their arrival in Jerusalem (Mt 2:2). The mission that the Eternal Father entrusts to the Son in the mystery of the Incarnation is to establish a Kingdom on earth, the Kingdom of Heaven. Through the establishment of this Kingdom, the ineffable Charity with which God has loved men from all eternity, mercifully drawing them to Himself, becomes concrete: “Dilexi te, ideo attraxite, miserans”. “I have loved thee with an everlasting love, therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee.” (Jer 31:3)

Jesus consecrates his public life to the proclamation and establishment of his Kingdom, at times referred to as the Kingdom of God and at others as the Kingdom of Heaven. Following the Eastern practice, Our Lord makes use of fascinating parables in order to inculcate the idea and the nature of this Kingdom that he has come to establish. His miracles aim to convince the people that his Kingdom has already come; it is found in the midst of the people. “Si in digito Dei eiicio daemonia, profecto pérvenit in vos regnum Dei” – “If it is by the finger of God that I cast out demons, then the Kingdom of God is upon you” (Lk 11:20).

The constitution of his Kingdom so absorbed his mission that the apostasy of his enemies took advantage of this idea to justify the accusation raised against him before Pilate’s tribunal: “Si hunc dimittis, non es amicus Caesaris” – “If you release him, you are not a friend of Caesar.” They cried out to Pontius Pilate: “Everyone who makes himself king opposes Caesar” (Jn 19:12). Validating the opinion of his enemies, Jesus Christ confirms to the Roman governor that He is truly a King: “You say: I am a king” (Jn 18:37).

A KING IN A TRUE SENSE

It is not possible to question the regal character of the work of Jesus Christ. He is King.

Our faith, however, requires that we understand well the scope and meaning of the Royalty of the Divine Redeemer. Pius XI immediately excludes the metaphorical sense by which we call “king” and “kingly” whatever is excellent in a human way of being or acting. No: Jesus Christ is not king in this metaphorical sense. He is King in the proper sense of the word. In Sacred Scripture, Jesus appears exercising royal prerogatives of sovereign government, dictating laws and ordering punishments against transgressors. In the famous Sermon on the Mount, we may say that the Savior promulgated the Law of his Kingdom. As a true Sovereign, He requires obedience to His laws under pain of nothing less than eternal condemnation. And also in the scene of the Judgment, which announces the end of the world, when the Son of God will come to administer His judgment to the living and the dead: “The Son of Man will come in his glory [...] and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats [...]. Then the King will say to those on his right: “Come, you who are blessed by my Father [...]. Then He will say to those on his left: “Depart from me, you accursed, into the everlasting fire [...]. And these will go off to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life” (Mt 25:31 ff.). A sentence that is both sweet and terrible. Sweet for the good, because of the unparalleled excellence of the prize that awaits them; terrible and frightening for the wicked, because of the terrifying judgment to which they are condemned for eternity.

A consideration of this sort is sufficient in order to realize how it is of the highest importance for people to identify rightly where the Kingdom of Jesus Christ is here on earth, because belonging or not belonging to it decides our eternal destiny. We have said “here on earth” since man merits the reward or punishment for the afterlife in this world. On earth, therefore, men ought to enter and become part of this ineffable Kingdom of God, which is both temporal and eternal, because it is formed in this world and flowers forth fully in heaven.

THE PRESENT SITUATION

The fury of the Enemy, who hates the human race, is unleashed primarily against the doctrine of the Kingship of Christ, because that Kingship is united in the Person of Our Lord, True God and True Man. The secularism of the nineteenth century, fueled by Freemasonry, has succeeded in reorganizing itself into an even more perverse ideology, since it has extended the denial of the royal rights of the Redeemer not only to civil society but also to the Body of the Church.

The sovereignty of the Vicar was diminished, and this was progressively followed by the denial of the sovereign rights of Christ over His Mystical Body. And when Paul VI deposed the triple royal diadem with an ostentatious gesture, as if he was renouncing the sacred vicarious Monarchy, he also removed the Crown from Our Lord, confining His Kingship to a merely eschatological sphere. The proof of this is the significant changes made to the Liturgy of the Feast of Christ the King and its transfer to the end of the liturgical year.

The purpose of the Feast, namely the celebration of the social Kingship of Christ, also illuminates its place in the calendar. In the Traditional Liturgy it was assigned to the last Sunday of October, so that the Feast of All Saints, who reign by participation, would be preceded by the Feast of Christ, who reigns by his own right. With the liturgical reform approved by Paul VI in 1969, the Feast of Christ the King was moved to the last Sunday of the Liturgical Year, erasing the social dimension of the Kingship of Christ and relegating him to the merely spiritual and eschatological dimension.

Did all these Council Fathers, who voted for Dignitatis Humanae and proclaimed religious freedom with Paul VI, realize that they in fact ousted Our Lord Jesus Christ, stripping him of the Crown of his social Kingship? Did they understand that they had very concretely dethroned Our Lord Jesus Christ from the throne of his divine Kingship over us and over the whole world? Did they understand that, making themselves the spokesmen of apostate nations, they made these execrable blasphemies ascend towards His Throne: “We do not want this man to be our king” (Lk 19:14); “We have no king but Caesar” (Jn 19:15)? But He, faced with that confused rumor of senseless men, withdrew his Spirit from them.

For those who are not blinded by bias, it is impossible not to see the perverse intention to downsize the Feast instituted by Pius XI and the doctrine expressed by it. Having dethroned Christ not only from society but also from the Church was the greatest crime with which the Hierarchy could have been stained, failing in its role as the custodian of the Savior’s teaching. As an inevitable consequence of this betrayal, the Authority conferred by Our Lord on the Prince of the Apostles has substantially disappeared. We have had confirmation of this ever since the edict of Vatican II, when the infallible authority of the Roman Pontiff was deliberately excluded in favor of a pastorality that created the conditions for equivocal formulations that are strongly suspected of heresy if not bluntly heretical. We therefore find ourselves not only besieged in the civil sphere, in which for centuries dark forces have refused the gentle yoke of Christ and imposed the hateful tyranny of apostasy and sin on the nations; but also in the religious sphere, in which the Authority demolishes itself and denies that the Divine King should also reign over the Church, her Pastors and her faithful. Also in this case, the sweet yoke of Christ is replaced by the hateful tyranny of the Innovators, who with an authoritarianism not dissimilar to that of their secular counterparts impose a new doctrine, a new morality, and a new liturgy in which the only mention of the Kingship of Our Lord is considered as an awkward legacy from another religion, another Church. As Saint Paul said: “God is sending them a deceiving power so that they may believe the lie” (2 Thess 2:11).

It is therefore not surprising to see that, just as in the secular world judges subvert justice by condemning the innocent and acquitting the guilty, rulers abuse their power and tyrannize citizens, doctors violate the Hippocratic oath by making themselves accomplices of those who want to spread disease and transform the sick into chronic patients, and teachers do not teach love of knowledge but cultivate ignorance in and ideological manipulation of their students, so also in the heart of the Bride of Christ there are Cardinals, Bishops, and clergy who give scandal to the faithful by their reprehensible moral conduct, spreading heresy from the pulpits, favoring idolatry by celebrating the pachamama and the worship of Mother Earth in the name of an ecologism of a clearly Masonic matrix that is perfectly in accord with the plan of dissolution intended by globalism. “This is your hour, the hour of darkness” (Lk 22:53). The kathèkon wouldseem to have disappeared, if we did not have the certainty of the promises of Our Savior, Lord of the world, of history, and of the Church herself.

CONCLUSION

And yet, while they destroy, we have the joy and honor of rebuilding. And there is a still greater happiness: a new generation of laity and priests are participating with zeal in this work of reconstruction of the Church for the salvation of souls, and they do so well aware of their own weaknesses and miseries, but also allowing themselves to be used by God as docile instruments in his hands: helpful hands, strong hands, the hands of the Almighty. Our fragility highlights the fact that this is the Lord’s work even more, especially where this human fragility is accompanied by humility.

This humility ought to lead us to instaurare omnia in Christo, beginning from the heart of the Faith, which is the official prayer of the Church. Let us return to the Liturgy in which Our Lord is recognized in his absolute Primacy, to the worship that the Innovators adulterated precisely out of hatred for the Divine Majesty in order to proudly exalt the creature by humiliating the Creator, claiming the right to rebel against the King in a delusion of omnipotence, uttering their own non serviam against the adoration that is owed to the Lord.

Our life is a war: Sacred Scripture reminds us of this. But it is a war in which “sub Christi Regis vexillis militare gloriamur,” (Postcommunio Missae Christi Regis) and in which we have at our disposal very powerful spiritual weapons, a deployment of angelic forces before which no earthly or infernal stronghold has any power.

If Our Lord is King by hereditary right (since he is of royal lineage), by divine right (in virtue of the hypostatic union), and by right of conquest (having redeemed us by his Sacrifice on the Cross), we must not forget that, in the plans of Divine Providence, this Divine Sovereign has at his side as Our Lady and Queen, His own August Mother, Mary Most Holy. There can be no Kingship of Christ without the sweet and maternal Queenship of Mary, whom Saint Louis Marie Grignon de Montfort reminds us is our Mediatrix before her Son’s Majestic Throne, where she stands as a Queen interceding before the King.

The premise of the triumph of the Divine King in society and in nations is that He already reigns in our hearts, our souls, and our families. May Christ also reign in us, and His Most Holy Mother along with him. Adveniat regnum tuum: adveniat per Mariam.

Marana Tha, Veni Domine Iesu ! Oh come Lord Jesus!
