URGENT PETITION: Tell the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade! Sign the petition here.

BETHESDA, Maryland, August 13, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – Shortly after daybreak on the Memorial of St. Clare, August 11, Father Antonio Maria, C.F.R., celebrated a Mass for life in a shopping center parking lot adjacent to late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart’s facility in Bethesda, Maryland. Carhart is one of only a few abortionists in the U.S. who is willing to abort babies through all nine months of pregnancy – right up until birth.

In May, Carhart aborted two children at 25 weeks of gestation – a time when babies are routinely viable outside of the womb. Their mothers, according to an eyewitness and reported by Operation Rescue, suffered life-threatening injuries that required emergency surgery and hospitalization and resulted in permanent physical impairment. Missy Smith, a decades-long pro-life advocate, has spoken to both women and their families. She confirmed initial reports that one woman can never bear children again and the other has had several operations to repair internal physical damage.

Carhart, according to Operation Rescue records, has caused 22 serious injuries and one patient death at his two abortion facilities in Maryland and Bellevue, Nebraska, since 2012. Eight complaints have been filed against him with the Maryland Board of Physicians, but no disciplinary action has been taken. After the two recent botched abortions, Operation Rescue sent a letter on June 8 to U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar seeking an investigation into Carhart’s practice.

In his homily, Father Antonio, a Franciscan Friar of the Renewal, spoke about the miracles of St. Clare, a disciple of St. Francis of Assisi, attributed to her devotion to the Holy Eucharist and a life of austerity and penance. She was credited with saving the lives of the citizens of Assisi twice, when the city was besieged by Saracens. The priest presented St. Clare as “an example of the power of faith and devotion to the Holy Eucharist.”

At the end of Mass, Father Antonio led the two dozen attendees in a silent Eucharistic Procession around the property where the abortion facility is located. He then blessed the congregation and the abortion facility with the Eucharist. The service ended with the congregation singing “Immaculate Mary,” a hymn of praise to the Blessed Mother.

This was the 11th Mass and first Eucharistic Procession near this abortion facility. The Masses have been offered by various priests. When Carhart was located in Germantown, before moving to Bethesda, a Mass was said each Saturday morning for several years in an office next door to his abortion center. Dick Retta, who leads a prayer vigil each Monday year-around in front of Carhart’s facility, said, “With prayer, witness, and persistent activity by the pro-life community, the abortionist left Germantown. Hopefully, he soon will leave Bethesda.”

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 13, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) — The Democratic National Convention next week will prominently feature some of its high-profile LGBT members, including homosexual former presidential contender Pete Buttigieg of Indiana, and Virginia’s Daniel Roem, now known as “Danica,” the first “transgendered” state representative in U.S. history.

Buttigieg has been handed a prime-time slot for his speech on Tuesday, while Roem’s role at the convention has not yet been announced.

Joe Biden will officially accept his nomination as the party’s presidential candidate in a speech to be delivered on Thursday evening, the final night of the convention.

“Vice President Biden very clearly sees that LGBT people are part of the fabric, and they will be part of the fabric of the convention,” Joe Solmonese, CEO of the 2020 Democratic National Convention, told the Washington Blade. “We’re asking lots of people to participate in all sorts of different ways.”

Before taking the reins of the 2020 Democratic National Convention, Solmonese, who is himself gay, was president of the powerful Washington, D.C. LGBT lobbying organization the Human Rights Campaign.

At the Democrats’ 2016 national convention held in Philadelphia, more than 11 percent of the delegates identified as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender.

While there are no reports as to the number of LGBT delegates participating in this year’s convention, Pennsylvania’s delegation alone includes a reported 27 LGBT members.

Homosexuals and transgenders are a ‘cornerstone of the Democratic Party’

Brendan Welch, communications director for the Pennsylvania Democratic Party, told Philadelphia Gay News that the LGBT community is  a “cornerstone of the Democratic Party.”

“We must actively uplift LGBTQ+ voices if we are to achieve the America that Democrats stand for: justice, equity and opportunity for all people, regardless of race, gender identity, or who you love,” Welch wrote in an email to PGN.

“We welcome all of our LGBTQ+ delegates with open arms and look forward to electing Democrats who will fight for you — in both the nation’s capital and the state capital,” he added.

Pro-LGBT platform to be approved

In advance of the convention, delegates are now in the process of voting on the party’s revised platform which is expected to be ratified next week.

Troubling planks in the proposed platform include a call for Congress to push through the so-called “Equality Act”; ensuring that gay, lesbian, and transgender individuals can adopt or foster children; guaranteeing transgender students “access to facilities based on their gender identity”; banning, under the misnomer “conversion therapy,” professional counseling for those with unwanted same-sex attraction and gender dysphoria; and ensuring that transgender and non-binary people “can procure official government identification documents that accurately reflect their gender identity.”

The proposed platform is the first to recognize a categories of people who claim to be gender non-conforming and non-binary.

In a section titled “Protecting LGBTQ+ Rights,” the 2020 Democratic Party Platform states:

Democrats applaud this year’s U.S. Supreme Court decision that made clear that employment discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity violates the law, but we know we still have work to do to ensure LGBTQ+ people are treated equally under the law and in our society. We will fight to enact the Equality Act and at last outlaw discrimination against LGBTQ+ people in housing, public accommodations, access to credit, education, jury service, and federal programs. We will work to ensure LGBTQ+ people are not discriminated against when seeking to adopt or foster children, protect LGBTQ+ children from bullying and assault, and guarantee transgender students’ access to facilities based on their gender identity. Democrats will ensure federally funded programs for older adults are inclusive for LGBTQ+ seniors.

Recognizing that LGBTQ+ youth and adults suffer from significant health disparities, including mental health and substance use disorders, Democrats will expand mental health and suicide prevention services, and ban harmful “conversion therapy” practices. We will ensure that all transgender and non-binary people can procure official government identification documents that accurately reflect their gender identity. We will stop employment discrimination in the federal government, and will restore full implementation of President Obama’s executive order prohibiting discrimination by federal contractors on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.

Democrats are committed to ending the homelessness crisis, including among LGBTQ+ youth. We will fight to end violence against transgender Americans and particularly against Black transgender women, who are disproportionately victims of assault and homicide, and will prioritize the investigation of hate crimes against transgender and non-binary people.

The convention, which The New York Times has described as a “star-studded Zoom call” because the speakers will be offering their remarks from remote locations due to Wuhan virus restrictions, will run from Monday, August 17 through Thursday, August 20.

Other primetime keynote speakers include Michelle Obama on Monday, Jill Biden on Tuesday, and Barack Obama on Wednesday.

US bishop warns faithful to ‘be awake’ to ‘anti-Catholic’ Kamala Harris

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 13, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) — Bishop Joseph Stirckland sent out a tweet suggesting that Joe Biden’s running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris, reminds him of former Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, who famously called conservatives “deplorables,” at the height of her 2016 campaign.

“Catholics take note....reminds me of another candidate calling us ‘the deplorables’....we need to be awake to this.....Kamala’s Anti-Catholic Assault Previews Her Potential Administration,” wrote Bishop Strickland.

The Tyler, Texas bishop, a stalwart defender of human life and protector of the Catholic faith, was calling attention to an article published in the The Federalist titled, “Kamala Harris’s Anti-Catholic Assault Previews What Would Happen in Her Administration.”

“Vice President Joe Biden has just picked as his running mate Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), a woman who believes Catholicism is an extreme set of views that should disqualify someone from public office,” wrote Paulina Enck, who went on to substantiate her well founded claim.

Harris “demonstrated shocking anti-Catholic bigotry in the confirmation hearings of Judge Brian Buescher,” recounted Enck. Harris cited his membership in the “all-male society” the Knights of Columbus and its stances against abortion and same-sex “marriage” as grounds for rejecting Buescher for a federal district court in Nebraska.

“Ms. Harris’s embrace of religious intolerance is especially significant because in two years she could be the next U.S. President,” wrote the Wall Street Journal’s Editorial Board at the time. “What does it say about today’s Democrats that no one in the party of Al Smith and JFK sees fit to rebuke her?”

Since the announcement of Harris as Biden’s V.P. pick earlier this week, pro-life leaders have sounded the alarm about her extreme position on abortion.

David Daleiden, head of the pro-life investigative group Center for Medical Progress, wrote that from his firsthand experience, he considers Harris the “greatest threat to First Amendment civil rights our country has ever seen.”

During her time as attorney general of California, Harris played a key role in defending Planned Parenthood over its sale of aborted baby parts (which violated multiple federal laws, according to undercover video of abortion industry personnel).

Last year, Harris unveiled a plan to essentially force pro-life states to seek permission from the federal government before pro-life laws can take effect.

The announcement of her proposal, titled the “Reproductive Rights Act,” said “Harris will require, for the first time, that states and localities with a history of violating Roe v. Wade obtain approval from her Department of Justice before any abortion law or practice can take effect.”

The Susan B. Anthony List has noted Harris’s troubling Senate voting record, displaying her radical views on abortion and her determination to protect it, saying she twice “blocked Senate vote to protect babies born alive during abortion; Unveiled a plan to prevent pro-life states from passing pro-life laws; and voted to force taxpayers to pay for abortions.”

“A vote for Biden/Harris is a vote for child abuse (cross-sex puberty blockers, mutilation surgery), mandatory Drag Queen Story Hour and ‘transgender’ speech rules, and abortion,” wrote Houston Baptist University theology professor Robert A.J. Gagnon in a Facebook post.  “In short, an all-out assault on the youngest in our society and the marginalization and persecution of parents and other adults who come to their defense. Don’t be foolish.”

“It is not just anti-Catholic bigotry. She believes that no one should be allowed to be appointed to the court or any administrative government post who ever belonged to a religious institution, organization, club, school, or denomination that views abortion, homosexual practice, or transgenderism as sin,” said Gagnon in a separate Facebook post. “How can any Christian vote for such a person or even fail to cast an effective vote to stop her election?”

On Monday, Bishop Strickland also commented on the high stakes of the upcoming election:

“85 PRAYING DAYS...until the election. Please pray for hearts to turn to God & choose candidates who promote....the sanctity of life, the Christian moral code, the sanctity of marriage & family, parental choice for educating their children & uphold basic freedoms for every person.”

German govt authorities supported pedophile network for decades, study reveals

The pedophile ringleader has had a huge influence on the 'sex education' curricula now increasingly used throughout day care centers and schools in Germany.

BERLIN, August 13, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) — For decades, government agencies tolerated and supported the systematic sexual abuse of foster children across Germany by pedophiles, a recently published study found.

Positions on “sex education” advocated by one the key enablers of these cases of pedophilia, professor of social education Helmut Kentler, are still part of today’s “sexual pedagogy of diversity,” which is used by an increasing number of day care centers and schools.

Among other things, Kentler had said, “Sexually satisfied children ... are best protected against sexual seduction and sexual assault.” Regarding sexual relationships between children and adults, he said, “If such relationships are not discriminated against by the surroundings, the more the older one feels responsible for the younger one, the more positive consequences for personality development can be expected.”

In one case in Berlin, foster parent Fritz H. was able to sexually abuse and rape at least nine children in the span of more than three decades. “The boys, often only six or seven years old, were placed with him by Berlin youth welfare offices, and H. was protected by the pedagogy professor Helmut Kentler, who was highly regarded by the [local] Senate administration,” reported German newspaper Berliner Zeitung.

“Despite a previous conviction for child abuse, the youth welfare offices repeatedly chose Fritz H. as foster parent,” the newspaper continued. “And despite sometimes extreme warning signs, they left the children with him for years. The first foster children arrived at the beginning of the 1970s, the last ones did not leave the foster home until 2003 as young adults.”

The recent study prepared by the university of Hildesheim explained that in the files on the youth welfare offices in question, there were “many weak and strong signals” that should have led to removing Fritz H. from the foster care system.

“More than 50 specialists from various disciplines and training were involved in the case management. The young people who lived in the foster home are hardly heard in the file. Likewise, serious circumstances — such as the death of a young man — remain unexplained in the file, etc.”

How does Kentler come into play?

“Helmut Kentler massively defended the Fritz H. foster home and used and employed his power as an expert and professor of social pedagogy to shield this foster home from possible interventions or controls.”

PETITION: Hold UN accountable for babies killed by sex-selection abortion! Sign the petition here.

The employees of the youth welfare office simply followed Kentler’s interpretation of what happened at the foster home. Not only that, but the study also emphasized that even today, the description of what happened often followed the terminology and framing of Kentler himself.

“When these days, people often talk about the ‘experiment’ or the ‘janitors’ and look for the ‘senate official,’ they often follow Helmuts Kentler’s interpretation and leave the way of speaking and the interpretation of how the connections are discussed up to him,” the authors wrote.

“This review owes to the persons affected the advice to break up this way of speaking,” they added. “Now, at last, Helmut Kentler should be deprived of the power to determine the language of coming to terms with the situation and the design of the connections as well as the scope of his power in these.”

While the scope of the study was limited to Berlin, the authors pointed out that “child endangerment” is likely to have taken place across the country. The state of Berlin, as well as its district youth welfare offices, were responsible for numerous foster homes “not only in ... Berlin, but in the whole of Germany, where they were then taken over by local youth welfare offices. These are foster homes led by single men or community homes for youth, led by single men.”

Hedwig von Beverfoerde, founder of pro-family organization “Demo für Alle,” acknowledged the evil of Kentler’s network across Germany. At the same time, she told LifeSiteNews that “the criminal ‘Kentler experiment’ cannot be separated from Kentler’s sex education research. Helmut Kentler’s ‘emancipatory sex education’ is historically and in its pedagogical approach compromised as pedophile.”

She then explained how what is called the “sexual education of diversity,” which is taught in countless daycare centers and schools, is “based on this approach — to the psychological detriment of our children. A comprehensive awareness campaign about Kentler, his large network in politics and research, and his influence on pedagogy is therefore absolutely necessary.”

“Demo für Alle” already exposed Uwe Sielert, one of Kentler’s students. Sielert adopted Kentler’s understanding of “the child as a sexual being,” as well as his idea of the liberation of sexual energies, and added gender ideology. Sielert’s ideas are influencing the German Federal Center for Health Education, a government agency.

“A major offensive is underway with the aim of providing our children with the poisonous brew of ‘sex education of diversity,’ Beverfoerde said. “To this end, the curricula and guidelines for sex education are gradually being ‘updated’ in all federal states and opportunities are being created to have external sex educators appear in schools and even in daycare centers.”

“We must finally stop the dangerous sex-ideological virus of Helmut Kentler, which has infected our children for decades!” she added. “The most important thing is to create publicity. The public debate about their goals and their machinations is something the actors of sexual diversity fear like the devil fears holy water.”

Even though Helmut Kentler’s ideas extend to daycare centers and schools today, a lot of research remains to be done on what happened in those three decades for the early 1970s until the early 2000s in Berlin.

More than 1,000 files in Berlin have not yet been studied, reported Berliner Zeitung.

The Berlin senator responsible for education, Social Democrat Sandra Scheeres, talked about financial reparations, as well as cooperating with other government agencies across the country.

“But open a thousand files? Focus on the role of the administration itself and perhaps also of the Berlin parties in this network? Scheeres said nothing about that,” the newspaper commented.

Pilgrimage through France in the shape of M for Mary stops in Paris for national feast day

In the middle of a 2,000-kilometer (1,243-mile) trek through the country, the Assumption will be celebrated with Mass, prayers and a consecration on August 15 in Paris.

PRAYER PLEDGE: Rally around the daily Rosary to stop the coronavirus! Sign the petition here.

August 13, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – On France’s traditional national feast day – not the revolutionary July 14 Bastille Day but the Catholic feast of the Assumption of Our Lady on August 15 – a remarkable 2,000-kilometer (1,243-mile) Marian pilgrimage will make a stop at the Basilica of Montmartre in Paris, where Archbishop Michel Aupetit will celebrate Mass and consecrate France to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary while a special “grand prayer” is said for France.

Public processions and prayers for the homeland are nothing new in France on August 15 since Louis the XIII announced in December 1637 that he would consecrate his land to the Virgin Mary if an heir was born to his wife, Queen Anne of Austria, who had remained without child during 23 years of their marriage. The Queen realized she was pregnant in February 1638; on the 10th of that month, Louis the XIIIth made his vow of consecration with the approval of the Parliament of Paris, presenting his “person,” his “State,” his “country,” and all his subjects to Our Lady of the Assumption.

He also promised to elevate a new main altar in the Cathedral of Notre Dame of Paris, but he died prematurely five years later. This promise was kept more than 60 years later by his son, Louis the XIV.

The text of his vow is still read during public processions on August 15 – a national holiday – in more traditional circles, even though its official character was abolished by the French Revolution and again by Louis-Philippe in 1831 after a short revival during the restoration of the monarchy.

The dramatic fire of Notre Dame de Paris last year led to the impossibility of holding the national procession in Paris in 2019. With the cathedral still closed to the public, a group of Catholics decided that something was needed to replace the beloved tradition of publicly honoring the Mother of God on the day of her feast as Patroness of France.

They decided to organize an unprecedented series of events that would draw an “M for Mary” over France. Two statues of Our Lady of France (“Notre Dame de France”) would be pulled through country roads by a horse and carriage in two symmetrical routes: a western route leading from Lourdes at the foot of the Pyrénées to Pontmain in Normandy, and then south-eastward to Pellevoisin, and an eastern route from La Salette in the Alps to the Rue du Bac in Paris and then to the southwest, also to reach Pellevoisin.

Lourdes, Pontmain, La Salette, the Rue du Bac (the Miraculous Medal), and Pellevoisin are all shrines marking apparitions of Our Lady in France in the 19th century that were approved by the Church. In Pellevoisin, in 1876 the Virgin Mary appeared 12 times to a 32-year-old woman, Estelle Faguet, who had been gravely ill for 12 years and was contagious with tuberculosis, bringing her healing through her intercession with her Divine Son. Seven times, she asked the seer: “Publish my glory.”

The “M de Marie” pilgrimage was to have started at the beginning of May, the month of Mary. Because COVID-19 restrictions to public worship were only lifted on May 25, the launching of the long road trips was postponed until June 1 – which happened to be the 40th anniversary of St. John Paul II’s famous challenge from the forecourt of Reims cathedral: “France, eldest daughter of the Church, are you faithful to the promises of your baptism? Are you faithful to the Alliance with eternal Wisdom?” It was also the first day the sanctuary of Lourdes was reopened to the public.

Since June 1, the two horse-drawn carriages have slowly followed the “M”-shaped itinerary planned by the organizers, covering 10 to 15 km stages, followed by many pilgrims on foot for one or several days and stopping in local parishes and shrines where festivities welcoming the statue of Our Lady, processions, vespers, Masses, and night-long Eucharistic adorations take place.

Supported by some 30 bishops and with the help of hundreds of volunteers and members of Marian associations that have been active for many years in France, the pilgrimage is attracting thousands of followers on the ground, and many others have joined virtually via internet or Radio Maria.

While the “eastern” statue of Notre Dame de France reached the Paris region on August 11, the western part of the pilgrimage stopped in Pontmain on August 10 and 11 with special prayers for the “conversion of France.”

The voyage will continue, lasting 104 days before reaching Pellevoisin on September 12, on the feast of the Holy Name of Mary. That feast was extended to the whole Church by Pope Innocent XI in 1683 in gratitude for the victory of John Sobiewski over the Turks in Vienna when the Ottoman Empire was trying to capture Europe by land.

The pilgrimage officially ends after a day of prayer and celebration at Pellevoisin on Sunday, September 13.

In a short video presentation about the event, its organizers underscore that in the context of the COVID-19 crisis, the pilgrims of Our Lady are especially asking her to liberate France from the pandemic “as she has done so often before during our past.” But they also want to be “missionaries, ambassadors of Christ,” and to rediscover “the beautiful spiritual history of France” by rediscovering the messages of Our Lady and the beautiful chapels and churches everywhere in the country.

The video concluded: “On the evening of August 15th, she will go up to the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and so we will go to Jesus through Mary, following the spirituality of Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort that is guiding us throughout this pilgrimage.”

German parents face jail if they don’t confine COVID-suspected children in their own rooms

Some local governments are ordering kids not to eat with their family members.

August 13, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – Local government authorities in Germany have threatened parents whose children are suspected of having contracted the coronavirus with fines and jail time when they don’t isolate their children in their own rooms.

According to a report released by German newspaper Die Welt, some local government agencies even ordered the children not to eat with other family members.

“Your child must avoid contact with other household members in the household by ensuring that there is a separation in time and space,” one letter read. “No meals together. Your child should preferably be alone in a room separate from other household members.”

Parents of children as young as age three received similar letters.

In the city of Bruchsal, dozens of fourth graders were sent home to quarantine. Parents were asked to have their children, who are mostly around nine years old, wear a face covering at home when in contact with family members. City officials even threatened to take away the children from their families and place them in a special institution for the duration of the quarantine should parents refuse to comply.

Several pro-family organizations criticized the local governments for their reactions and infringement of parental rights.

Hedwig von Beverfoerde, the founder of “Demo für Alle” and leader of pro-family demonstrations in Germany, told LifeSiteNews that public health authorities threatening “to take children away from the family by coercive measures and to take them into state custody takes your breath away!”

“Such measures exceed every measure and are otherwise known from totalitarian states, such as, at one point, Nazi Germany, East Germany, China or North Korea,” she said.

Beverfoerde also commented on the restrictions placed upon ordinary citizens amid the coronavirus crisis. “Many of our government’s coronavirus measures are completely disproportionate and illogical, given the small number of people seriously ill with COVID-19, let alone those who died from it,” she said.

“Some federal states, for example, introduced compulsory masks for children in school lessons,” she pointed out. “This is not only unnecessary, but also dangerous from a medical point of view and prevents normal teaching.”

Instead of forcing children to wear face coverings, Beverfoerde advocated for homeschooling as a viable alternative.

“The government could make good use of the current situation and transform rigid compulsory schooling into modern compulsory education, allowing homeschooling by parents,” she explained. “In this way, the education of our children could continue to be guaranteed – without expensive and complex measures for the schools, which contribute nothing to the protection of our children anyway.”

Homeschooling in Germany has been illegal since the time of the Nazis. Families who attempt to homeschool are routinely fined, and even ripped apart, with children being placed under the care of government agencies. Some families have moved to foreign countries, including the United States, to educate their children at home.

Beverfoerde lamented “a general distrust towards parents in our society, although they usually know and love their children.”

“In many German youth welfare offices, this distrust also exists,” she emphasized. “In 2018 alone, over 52,000 minors were taken from their families. Among them were numerous obvious mistakes, with absurd reasons given, such as that the bond between mother and child was too close.”

Regarding the letters sent to parents of children who are suspected of carrying the coronavirus, a spokeswoman for the city of Offenbach said, “A possible fine must first be threatened as a possible legal consequence in order to be able to determine it if necessary.”

However, in concrete situations, not all of the local government’s demands might be followed, she admitted, saying that details will be determined during the first conversation between government agencies and the family in question.

The organization “Familien in der Krise” (Families in Crisis), which was founded in response to the coronavirus outbreak in Germany, commented that “it is good that at least in the talks the needs of the children are taken into account, but we demand legal security for the families affected.”

“The physical and psychological needs of the children must already be in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child when the legally binding administrative act is adopted and must be given priority,” the organization added.

The German Association for the Protection of Children (Deutscher Kinderschutzbund), a lobby organization for children, called the isolation of children from their parents “a form of psychological violence.”

“The German Association for the Protection of Children considers these measures to be disproportionate and unacceptable,” the statement continued. “The threat of being taken out and placed in an isolation ward … also causes lasting insecurity for families. Certainly, measures must be taken to contain the pandemic. But this can also be regulated by including the entire household, or at least one parent with custody, in the quarantine measures.”

US bishop takes flak for tweet about Biden’s Catholicism and draws response from Fr. James Martin

Pope Pius XII wrote in a 1943 encyclical that baptized Catholics, such as the Democrat presidential candidate, 'who are divided in faith or government cannot be living in the unity of such a Body.'

August 13, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) — An American bishop sparked a heated Twitter debate over what constitutes a Catholic when he sarcastically implied this week that Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden isn’t one.

Bishop Thomas Tobin of Providence, Rhode Island, was also hammered on Twitter with ad hominem attacks after he posted this Tuesday:

Tobin’s tweet followed Biden announcement that his running mate is far-left California Senator Kamala Harris, known for her abortion extremism and close relationship with Planned Parenthood.

Biden, also endorsed by Planned Parenthood, is likewise known for abandoning any pro-life views he once held (he dropped his support of the Hyde Amendment banning federal funding for most abortions in June 2019) and adopting policies that directly conflict with Catholic teaching.

Biden declared during the coronavirus crisis that abortion is an “essential healthcare service,” and promised that if he wins the election, he will direct the Justice Department to “do everything in its power” to block state laws that place any restriction on abortion, including parental notification requirements, ultrasound laws, and waiting periods.

Moreover, Biden supports the killing of the elderly, disabled, and medically vulnerable through euthanasia and assisted suicide, has personally conducted “gay weddings,” endorses the overtly marxist Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement that seeks to disrupt the nuclear family, his “environmental policies are built on the population control principles of abortion and contraception in direct opposition to the teaching of Pope Francis on the environment,” and he has vowed to resurrect Obama-era policies that would force the Little Sisters of the Poor to violate their religious beliefs and provide contraceptives and abortifacients to their employees, as LifeSite’s Doug Mainwaring reported last month.

Nevertheless, Biden is leaning heavily on his Catholicism in his presidential run, releasing a campaign video last week that highlights his apparent friendship with Pope Francis and the values they allegedly share, as well as his admiration for nuns, who taught him.

Pope Francis also was featured in a video Biden’s campaign released earlier this year in which the Democratic candidate says he goes to Mass, prays the rosary and that faith is what has helped him through the most difficult moments in his life.

Given the stakes, Tobin’s tweet evidently touched a nerve and in the ensuing debate LGBT advocate Fr. James Martin argued, as did many, that Biden is a Catholic by virtue of his baptism.

However, one participant brought up a papal document that seems to tilt the argument heavily in Tobin’s favor.

Catholic website One Peter Five tweeted a quote from Pope Pius XII’s 1943 encyclical Mystici corporis christi, or The Mystical Body of Christ:

The paragraph reads:

22. Actually only those are to be included as members of the Church who have been baptized and profess the true faith, and who have not been so unfortunate as to separate themselves from the unity of the Body, or been excluded by legitimate authority for grave faults committed. “For in one spirit” says the Apostle, “were we all baptized into one Body, whether Jews or Gentiles, whether bond or free.” As therefore in the true Christian community there is only one Body, one Spirit, one Lord, and one Baptism, so there can be only one faith. And therefore, if a man refuses to hear the Church, let him be considered -- so the Lord commands -- as a heathen and a publican. It follows that those who are divided in faith or government cannot be living in the unity of such a Body, nor can they be living the life of its one Divine Spirit.

Popular priest Fr. Dwight Longenecker also made his view clear, tweeting:

Many opposed to Tobin’s view simply attacked him by bringing up his 2018 admission that as auxiliary bishop of Pittsburgh in 1992 and 1996 he “became aware of incidents of sexual abuse when they were reported to the diocese,” but did not report them as this was not his area of responsibility, or opined that if a Catholic prelate was going to get into politics, the Church should pay taxes.

US professor: ‘Psychoactive pill’ should be covertly administered to ensure lockdown compliance

PETITION: No to government and corporate penalties for refusing COVID-19 vaccine! Sign the petition here.

MICHIGAN, August 13, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – In an article so shocking it at first reads like satire, an ethics professor at Western Michigan University advocated for the promotion of psychoactive “morality pills” in order to alter the behavior of those skeptical of lockdown regulations, suggesting that such drugs could be made compulsory or administered secretly via the water supply.

The article was published earlier this week in The Conversation, a news site focusing on content “sourced from the academic and research community” and supported by universities from around the world. The Conversation lists a number of U.K. universities as its “founding partners.” In the article, Parker Crutchfield argues that “[w]hen someone chooses not to follow public health guidelines around the coronavirus, they’re defecting from the public good” and that such “defectors” require chemical “moral enhancement” substances to help them “reason about what the right thing to do is.”

“To me, it seems the problem of coronavirus defectors could be solved by moral enhancement: like receiving a vaccine to beef up your immune system, people could take a substance to boost their cooperative, pro-social behavior. Could a psychoactive pill be the solution to the pandemic?” Crutchfield writes.

“It’s a far-out proposal that’s bound to be controversial,” he concedes, but nevertheless is one Crutchfield believes “is worth at least considering, given the importance of social cooperation in the struggle to get COVID-19 under control.”

Crutchfield says that one challenge in implementing such a system is that “the defectors who need moral enhancement are also the least likely to sign up for it.”

“As some have argued, a solution would be to make moral enhancement compulsory or administer it secretly, perhaps via the water supply. These actions require weighing other values,” he writes.

The chemicals mentioned by Crutchfield are oxytocin and psilocybin, the active component of “magic mushrooms,” which he says “may cause a person to be more empathetic and altruistic, more giving and generous.”

Crutchfield says that his research in bioethics “focuses on questions like how to induce those who are noncooperative to get on board with doing what’s best for the public good.“

Twitter users appalled by Crutchfield’s article did their own research on his academic history, and posted a 2019 paper of his entitled “Compulsory moral bioenhancement should be covert.”

In at least one instance Twitter subsequently placed the link behind a warning sign, saying “The following media includes potentially sensitive content.”

Image

The abstract for that paper reads:

Some theorists argue that moral bioenhancement ought to be compulsory. I take this argument one step further, arguing that if moral bioenhancement ought to be compulsory, then its administration ought to be covert rather than overt. This is to say that it is morally preferable for compulsory moral bioenhancement to be administered without the recipients knowing that they are receiving the enhancement. My argument for this is that if moral bioenhancement ought to be compulsory, then its administration is a matter of public health, and for this reason should be governed by public health ethics. I argue that the covert administration of a compulsory moral bioenhancement program better conforms to public health ethics than does an overt compulsory program. In particular, a covert compulsory program promotes values such as liberty, utility, equality, and autonomy better than an overt program does. Thus, a covert compulsory moral bioenhancement program is morally preferable to an overt moral bioenhancement program.

A number of Crutchfield’s articles can be found on the U.S. government’s PubMed.gov site.

One is titled “It is better to be ignorant of our moral enhancement: A reply to Zambrano.” The abstract for that paper reads:

In a recent issue of Bioethics, I argued that compulsory moral bioenhancement should be administered covertly. Alexander Zambrano has criticized this argument on two fronts. First, contrary to my claim, Zambrano claims that the prevention of ultimate harm by covert moral bioenhancement fails to meet conditions for permissible liberty-restricting public health interventions. Second, contrary to my claim, Zambrano claims that covert moral bioenhancement undermines autonomy to a greater degree than does overt moral bioenhancement. In this paper, I rebut both of these arguments, then finish by noting important avenues of research that Zambrano's arguments motivate.

LifeSiteNews has written to Crutchfield to ask him whether he believes that the covert administration of psychoactive “morally enhancing” chemicals is in keeping with the U.S. Constitution. We have not received a response as of press time.

In Melbourne, Australia, the political authorities have adopted simpler methods for ensuring the public complies with government lockdown regulations, with the police given the power to enter private homes without a warrant or permission to carry out “spot checks.” The Victoria police chief commissioner unapologetically explained that officers have in some instances been smashing car windows due to people inside the cars not cooperating with them or following the newly imposed health guidelines.

Flashback: New York Democrat election official admitted ‘you’re gonna see a lot’ of voter fraud

In 2016, New York City elections commissioner Alan Schulkin revealed that 'people don’t realize, certain neighborhoods in particular, they bus people around to vote.'

PETITION: Investigate George Soros' role in funding domestic terrorism! Sign the petition here.

August 13, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – As controversy rages over President Donald Trump’s persistent warnings about the potential to abuse mail-in voting, conservatives have revisited an incident from 2016 to support their argument that voter fraud is a very real problem.

On Tuesday, Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe shared a clip from 2016 of former New York City elections commissioner Alan Schulkin, a Democrat, telling an undercover journalist that he believed voter fraud was widespread:

“People don’t realize, certain neighborhoods in particular, they bus people around to vote,” Schulkin said. “They put them in a bus and move them from poll site to poll site.”

He went on to recall New York Democrat Mayor Bill de Blasio giving out ID cards, “but they didn’t vet the people to see who they really are. Anybody can go in there and say, ‘I’m Joe Smith, I want an ID card.’ It’s absurd.”

“You’re gonna see a lot of fraud, not just voter fraud, but all kinds of fraud,” Schulkin predicted.

After release of the video in 2016, a spokesman for de Blasio called Schulkin’s comments “baseless” and evidence that he was “unfit” and should resign. Schulkin refused, while claiming the video did not fully represent his true views. After the 2016 election, the Manhattan Democrat Party unanimously nominated Jeanine Johnson, chief of staff to Assemblyman Keith Wright, to replace Schulkin, who had ultimately decided not to seek re-election.

President Trump set off a firestorm in May when he tweeted that mail-in ballots for the upcoming elections would be “substantially fraudulent. Mailboxes will be robbed, ballots will be forged & even illegally printed out & fraudulently signed.” Twitter responded by taking the unprecedented step of adding a “get the facts” disclaimer to Trump’s tweets, linking to an article that claimed Trump’s charges were false. Yet evidence suggests cause for concern.

“An inspector general report by the USPS establishes the lofty goal of only 96 percent for election mail delivery success. Sadly, in 2018, the post office couldn’t even meet that sorry goal, delivering only 95.6 percent of election mail successfully,” wrote J. Christian Adams, an election lawyer who served in the Voting Rights Section of the Justice Department from 2005 to 2010. “In the 2016 Presidential race, four percent was more than the margin of victory in 10 states representing 124 electoral votes.”

Adams goes on to detail examples of issues across the country, such as Clark County, Nevada sending out 1.3 million mail-in ballots with more than 200,000 bouncing back as undeliverable; a West Virginia postman who confessed to altering mail ballots; and voters in Maryland and the District of Columbia being disenfranchised after sending out ballots that failed to reach thousands of voters, who were then unable to vote in person because their polling places weren’t open.

In New Jersey, an activist named YaYa Luis Mendez “was reported to have confessed to investigators that he snatched ballots straight out of mailboxes and voted them.” Mendez was actually a repeat election fraudster who had done the same thing under different names in Mississippi and Ohio.

Such cases demonstrate the “benefits of a system where someone votes a real ballot in person at a government-run precinct, where the public can observe the process,” Adams wrote.

PETITION: No to mandatory contact tracing and government surveillance for the coronavirus! Sign the petition here.

UPDATE, August 14, 2020: This story has been updated to provide additional details on New Zealand’s quarantine rules, and to make a correction – lawmakers’ March vote to decriminalize abortion was unrelated to the previous referendum on the issue, which failed.

AUCKLAND, New Zealand, August 13, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – The government of New Zealand has announced that all COVID-19 infected citizens, and possibly close relatives with them, will be taken and placed in mandatory “quarantine facilities.”

The move “shows how serious we are about limiting any risk of ongoing transmission – even in self-isolation and including to others in the household,” Director-General of Health Dr. Ashley Bloomfield claimed at a press conference Thursday, NewsHub reports. “It will help us avoid any further inadvertent spread into the community as part of our overall response.”

Previously the government had required people who contracted the coronavirus to self-isolate in their own homes, with only travelers entering the country having to isolate in “managed isolation” (if asymptomatic) or quarantine facilities (if they show symptoms). But officials are now going further in response to four members of one family in South Auckland being diagnosed with the virus, breaking the country’s 102-day streak of no new community transmissions.

Bloomberg adds that the government reported a total of 13 new cases Thursday, bringing the national total to 36 current active cases. 19 of those cases came from people who tested positive after returning from overseas travel.

“A reminder, these facilities have been set up specifically and have excellent processes and resources in place to look after people with COVID-19, including health staff on site at all times,” Bloomfield claimed.

The facilities themselves consist of 32 hotels across the country, with Auckland alone having 19. Meals are delivered to residents’ rooms. Regulations for movement outside individual rooms vary from location to location, but require face masks.

Like many other nations, New Zealand’s response to COVID-19 has raised concerns over civil liberties, particularly keeping churches closed while allowing secular entities to reopen. In March, lawmakers also voted to decriminalize abortion.

While many in the press held up New Zealand as a model for success, journalist Jordan Schachtel argues that the truth is anything but.

“Tourism has been indefinitely canceled,” Schachtel writes. “New Zealand cannot even accept visitors from neighboring Australia. Tourism is a massive industry in New Zealand. It accounts for 6 percent of GDP, and 8.4 percent of the country’s workforce, or 230,000 Kiwis, are employed in the tourism industry […] People are getting a lot poorer. The country entered into a recession in June. A new jobs report found that in addition to the 4% of the workforce that cannot find a job, some 346,000 Kiwis are underemployed.”

Meanwhile, he continues, “New Zealand doesn’t appear to have a set end game on how it will deal with the coronavirus. Officials appear to be banking on a widespread vaccine with unprecedented efficacy to keep them sheltered from the virus.”

“When New Zealand opens back up, the virus will still be circulating around the globe, and much of the population will inevitably face risk of infection,” Schachtel laments. “New Zealand has temporarily shielded its 4.8 million citizens from the virus, but at a tremendous cost that is going to set back Kiwis for years.”

ANALYSIS

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 13, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – The little-known foreign organization which helped incite the “Occupy Wall Street” movement and its imitators in big cities across the U.S. a decade ago is now declaring war on the Trump Administration, capitalism, and the American electoral process as it invites agitators to D.C. to “lay siege to the White House” for 50 days before Election Day.

It is clear that the subversives behind this planned assault on the nation’s capital want Democrats Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to win.

They seek to “inspire a global movement of systemic change – a Global Spring – a cultural heave towards a new world order.”

Recruiting for a ‘revolution’

Hoping to tap into the ongoing roiling turmoil of Black Lives Matters (BLM) protests and Antifa destruction in many American cities over the last few months, Adbusters, a non-profit Canadian organization which calls itself “a global network of activists[,] writers[,] artists[,] designers[,] hackers[,] tricksters[,] poets[,] philosophers[,] and punks,” has begun publicizing its plans and offering “Tactical Briefings” via social media.

“On September 17, 2020 we will lay siege to The White House for exactly fifty days,” announces Adbusters’ July 28 Tweet, pinned at the top of the group’s Twitter page.  “We need your wisdom and expertise to pull off a radically democratic toneshift in our politics.”

“Are you ready for #revolution?” they ask. “This is the #WhiteHouseSiege.”

A subsequent Adbusters tweet says, “Here’s hoping for [a] #revolution,” over an edgy dystopian meme:

Socialists seek to ‘topple existing power structures’

Previously, Adbusters had declared that they seek to bring together those “who want to advance the new socialist activist movement of the information age. Our aim is to topple existing power structures and forge a major shift in the way we will live in the 21st century.”

“This toppling, it seems, entails a lot of extreme, foul behavior,” I observed in 2011 after having gone undercover with the “Occupy” movement for a few days.

If the planned White House “siege” is anything like the “Occupy” movement’s takeover of public spaces nine years ago, Americans can expect the same sort of ugliness recently witnessed in Seattle’s police-free CHOP/CHAZ zone, and much more.

Here’s what I saw in 2011:

So far, Occupy encampments and events around the country have set the scene for more than 4,000 arrests, multiple alleged rapes, anti-Semitic harangues, attacks on police, child endangerment, public defecation and urination, public sex and masturbation, drug use, thefts, assaults, vandalism, the destruction of private and public property, devastating blows to local merchants' businesses, a few deaths, and much, much more.  The list continues to grow.

By any measurement of objective truth, this “movement” is appalling.  What is more appalling is this: adult progressives ––politicos, pundits, self-interested activists, and activist organizations–– are inhumanely manipulating these poor clueless kids who are experiencing degradation all for the sake of a flawed, failing ideology.

Through Occupy Wall Street, liberal elites reveal who they are deep down inside and how they would behave if they themselves were free to cast aside all societal restraint.  Their unwavering support and cheerleading for the Occupiers prove that they are comfortable with some level of both anarchy and tyranny if either will bring about their impossible utopian vision for the United States of America.  Many seem to be longing for a “Kent State” or “Tiananmen Square” moment to win public sympathy and spark the revolution.

The big story concerning Occupy Wall Street was not about the protesters. It was about the politicians, media, pundits, public- and private-sector unions, and other liberal elites whose ideological contempt breathed life into the movement.

The same is true today. The same liberal elites – whose numbers and influence have swelled since then via the growth of Big Tech and as others have ascended the corporate ladder in the country’s biggest companies – are likely to support the planned White House “siege” from behind the scenes in order to influence the 2020 Presidential and Senatorial elections.

Amazon is already seeking to profit from the planned event, promoting “The White House Siege” tee shirts on its website.

What’s more, the Democrat Party is now steered by its radical socialist base, and will likely be cheering from the sidelines if the planned “siege” takes place.

Tapping ‘domestic terrorists’ and BLM to ‘destroy the foundations of the American Republic’

Adbusters’ plan is radical.

“The group’s website boasts an updated twist to the messaging, branding, and PR of a standard Marxist cultural revolution,” noted PJ Media’s Kari Donovan, “this one meant to destroy the foundations of the American Republic with the assistance of the other domestic terrorists and participants of the Black Lives Matter movement.”

‘White House Siege will electrify the U.S. election season,’ push to ‘new world order’

“A siege only works if it is sustained. We witnessed this — the multiplying power of a strategic occupation — nine years ago. You dig in, hold your ground, and the tension accumulates, amplifies, goes global,” states Adbusters’ Tactical briefing #1.

“Fifty days — September 17th to November 3rd,” it continues. “Let us once again summon the sweet, revolutionary nonviolence that was our calling card in Zuccotti Park.”

“White House Siege will electrify the U.S. election season — and it doesn’t stop there...Drawing wind from Me Too, BLM, Extinction Rebellion, and protests against Trump’s lethal bungling of coronavirus, we’ll inspire a global movement of systemic change — a Global Spring — a cultural heave towards a new world order.”

MELBOURNE, Australia, August 13, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – Australia’s second biggest city has given police the power to enter private homes without a warrant or permission to carry out “spot checks,” while churches are closed again as part of a new lockdown regime after politicians declared a “state of disaster” in response to a rise in coronavirus associated deaths and positive test results.

Speaking on August 3, Victoria police chief commissioner Shane Patton was unapologetic as he explained that police had in some instances been smashing car windows due to people inside the cars not cooperating with police or following the newly imposed health guidelines.

“On at least three or four occasions in the past week we’ve had to smash the windows of people in cars and pull them out of there so they could provide their details because they weren’t telling us where they were going, they weren’t adhering to the chief health officer guidelines, they weren’t providing their name and their address,” Patton said.

“This is clearly the biggest job, the biggest commitment that we have at the moment, it’s the most important commitment for Victoria police and that is enforcing the chief health officer guidelines,” Patton began his press conference explaining the police’s role in the new lockdown regime.

The new lockdown rules for the state of Victoria, of which the city of Melbourne is the capital, include:

  • Police may enter private homes, without the permission of the owner and without a warrant to carry out “spot checks”
  • A curfew not allowing people to leave their homes between 8:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., except for “work and essential health, care or safety reasons”
  • During the rest of the day people may only leave their homes to shop for food and essential items, receive or give care, take daily exercise, or to work
  • Churches are closed except for funerals, with a maximum of 10 mourners allowed to attend, with permits required
  • Schools are closed, except for vulnerable children and children of permitted workers
  • Face coverings are mandatory anywhere outside one’s home, even in open spaces when one is alone
  • No one may go to any home other than his or her own, except to give care
    • The state government makes an exception to this rule to “visit your partner” and for those with shared parenting arrangements
  • People may only gather in public with one person from outside their home

A range of fines and penalties are in operation for those who breach the rules, including a $200 on-the-spot fine for “not wearing a face covering, without lawful excuse,” a $1,652 on-the-spot fine for those breaching “stay at home” orders and a nearly $5,000 on-the-spot fine for those who have tested positive for the coronavirus breaching quarantine rules. All such fines can be significantly extended for repeat offenders.

At least one video of police in Victoria taking action against an individual for not wearing a mask has gone viral with millions of views online and several versions of the video removed from various social media platforms (warning: language and violent content).

Writing on his own website in the immediate aftermath of the new rules coming into force, regular Spectator contributor Toby Young explains that the measures were prompted “by 671 new cases of coronavirus” and “seven more deaths” in the days preceding their introduction.

Young suggests that the increase could be due to a corresponding increase in testing.

“Victoria tested almost 43,000 on Sunday, July 26th, twice as many as on normal days, and the peak on Wednesday could be due to the few days delay before the results come through. In addition, a percentage of the positive results are likely due to the extensive contact tracing introduced in the past few weeks, with targeted testing of those who’ve been in contact with other infected people,” Young writes.

“It looks like a familiar pattern: on the advice of public health officials, a political leader ramps up testing and introduces a track-and-trace programme, then, when the number of cases inevitably increases, the leader panics and introduces draconian new measures.”

Father Glen Tattersall, a Catholic parish priest in Melbourne, told LifeSiteNews that the leading state politician in Victoria, Premier Daniel Andrews, “is a radical leftist with a love for despotic power.”

Tattersall told LifeSiteNews that, aside from anything else, some of the draconian provisions “simply cannot be justified on a scientific basis.”

“We have a curfew from 8 pm to 5 am, rigorously enforced including by the use of police helicopters and search lights. Is the virus a vampire that just comes out at night? Or the wearing of masks: they must be worn everywhere outside, even in a park where you are nowhere near any other person. Why? Does the virus leap hundreds of metres through the air? This is all about inducing mass fear, and humiliating the populace by demanding external compliance,” Tattersall said.

“Daniel Andrews is a bad Catholic with a chip on his shoulder against the Church: he supports abortion, same sex marriage, the LGBT agenda, euthanasia (personally introducing this), and has abolished the privilege of the seal of the confession in sexual abuse cases before our criminal courts. He also, while acknowledging the verdict, treated with contempt the Australian High Court’s decision to unanimously acquit Cardinal George Pell, after Pell had been imprisoned for over a year thanks to the Victorian justice system.”

Tattersall explained that the state of Victoria has had 17 years of Labour Government in the last 21 years and that “radical leftists dominate the Victorian judiciary and civil service because of political appointments.”

Tattersall said that the silver lining of Victoria’s transformation into a police state is that some people are “waking up and turning to God.”

“Many Victorians are angry, and are calling into question the government’s response to the Wuhan virus,” he said.

“They realise it is disproportionate, contemptuous of their basic civil rights, and ineffective. I think that when the moment is right an enormous shift in public opinion will be manifested. Also, a number of people have been so shaken out of their comfortable complacency, that their minds and hearts are opening up to the reality of God.”

Duck Dynasty star: Democrats forming ‘satanic mob’ to ‘make America hate again’

WEST MONROE, Louisiana, August 13, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) — Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson recently shared his thoughts on the Democratic Party. “They’ve exchanged Jesus Christ for Karl Marx,” he said.

In an interview with Breitbart on August 5, Robertson discussed the Democratic Party’s link to satanism and its hatred of Christianity. Robertson, a conservative Christian, has consistently stood up to the mob and refused to back down from his beliefs.

“[Democrats] come along and say, ‘No, we want to make America hate again, and we’re going to show you how,’” he continued.  “[They] form a satanic mob with filthy minds, filthy mouths. The F-word is sprayed on everything they touch.”

He discussed how Democrats riot, loot, and burn, trying to get rid of Jesus, churches, and Trump. They “get rid of anything wherever anybody ever made a mistake, zero forgiveness for everybody that’s sinned — like they don’t — and you just look at them and they say, ‘Trust us. We will make America hate again.’”

“The most pathetic thing I have ever seen human beings display is this monster Donald Trump is now running against,” remarked Robertson.

Joe Biden’s recently chosen running mate, Kamala Harris, is akin to Biden, supporting abortion, LGBT “rights,” and limiting religious freedom.

Robertson identified the left’s embrace of Marxist ideological hatred of Christianity. “When they begin to burn Bibles — when they pile Bibles up on top of the American flag, the flag that represents their country, and they burn those — get ready, and get your ammo,” he warned. “Get all your gun stuff ... because the battle is fixing to begin when they go down that road.

“They’ve exchanged Jesus Christ for Karl Marx. Karl Marx is ... the one they’re going with. You would think human beings would learn better, but we’re not wrestling against flesh and blood; we’re wrestling against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Our struggle is with Satan. I view it from a spiritual lens,” he continued.

“If the United States of America votes for that dude and votes him ... in, they deserve what they get,” he added, “and we’re fixing to have Hell on Earth. That’s exactly what’s going to happen with Joe Biden. Hell on Earth is coming if they vote for him, if we’re that far down.”

Earlier this year, Fr. Michael P. Orsi similarly said, “The devil has made his home among the leadership of the Democratic Party for some time now and found it a most hospitable environment.”

“This can be deduced from the fact that every prominent Democrat figure is totally committed to abortion — even partial-birth abortion and post-delivery abortion, which is to say infanticide,” Orsi continued. “What else but diabolical influence can explain their determination to block even the slightest impingement upon the murder of children?”

On the contrary, Robertson recalled that, when he met with Donald Trump, the two men “had a Bible between us” and “discussed spiritual matters.”

“He is pro-God, and he’s pro-life, and he’s pro-marriage between a man and a woman, and he’s pro-duck-hunting,” he added. “That’s good enough for me, dude.”

“The guy has a keenness and a quickness and an understanding in dealing with a situation. I’m telling you, for lack of a better word, Donald Trump is caustically brilliant,” he continued. “The man has a head on his shoulders. I’m telling you, in one word, I would say that he’s very shrewd, and he doesn’t want from fights.”

Cdl. Zen: Vatican pursuing policy of submissiveness to Chinese communist govt

'We are at the mercy of this new commission,' said Zen. 'We don’t have religious freedom because we don’t have freedom.'

By Doug Mainwaring

August 13, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) — Cardinal Zen, the outspoken retired bishop of Hong Kong, acknowledged in an interview that the “so-called national security law” recently enacted by mainland China’s government makes it easier for the Chinese Communist Party to punish the city’s protesters and reduces the autonomy of the once independent city-state.

The new law, which was kept under wraps before it was passed on June 30 by the mainland legislature — a move that circumvented and overrode Hong Kong’s established law — criminalizes any acts deemed to be succession, subversion, terrorism, or collusion with foreign or external forces.

The sweeping new law gives the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) new powers to squelch resistance to the mainland’s ever tightening control over the compact, thriving economic hub.

“It effectively strips away the freedom of speech and protest for the people of Hong Kong,” observed Raymond Arroyo as he interviewed Cardinal Zen.

“We are at the mercy of this new commission,” said Zen. “We don’t have religious freedom because we don’t have freedom.”

“I went through the whole text of the law,” said Zen, who summarized the impact of the new law on Hong Kong’s Catholics.

“It’s easy to tell you in just one sentence: ‘Now they can do anything,’” he declared, referring to the CCP.

Zen suggested that the Vatican respects the Chinese government — run by the CCP — too much. “The Vatican is constantly pursuing a policy of submissiveness to the Chinese government.”

“I hope the whole world can now be awakened,” said the prelate. “We now can see the real face of the Chinese Communist Party and it’s now spiritual warfare between the lie and the truth, between the selfish desire of power of domination and concern for other people.”

“It’s a warfare between the good and evil, so I hope the whole world should stand up,” added the retired cardinal.

Zen told CNA he has ‘no confidence’ that the new National Security Law will respect the religious freedom of Catholics and that while many would find official diocesan support for the implementation of the law “disappointing,” “on the other hand, it will be a lot of trouble if we don’t support the government. We never know what they will do to our Church.”

Hong Kong’s dicoesan schools told to indoctrinate Catholic students regarding the new National Security Law

A pair of letters addressed to Hong Kong’s nearly 200 Catholic schools in advance of the new school year, intended to promote the new National Security Law and squelch political unrest among teachers and students, underscore Zen’s concern.

Episcopal delegate for education Peter Lau Chiu-yin sent a letter urging Hong Kong diocesan schools “to help students understand the ‘national security’ law, ‘respect the national flag’ and ‘the national anthem,’  as well as ‘foster the correct values on their national identity,’” according to a report by Asia News. Lau said each school “should have a ‘mechanism’ to monitor ‘teaching materials, assignments, examination papers and books’ used in the classroom.”

A second letter, from Ingrid Yeung, Hong Kong permanent secretary for education, said schools must uphold “national values” as well as stop student political activities. Teachers accused of “rioting” or “arson” should be suspended at once, according to the same Asia News report.

It’s no wonder that the CCP is using the new National Security Law to apply pressure on Hong Kong’s schools. Asia News explains:  “Among the more than 9,000 people arrested (as of June 2020) since the start of the protest movement, about 3,725 are students, 45 per cent from secondary schools.”

UNITED STATES, August 13, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) — A prestigious U.S. medical journal retracted a study that claimed that “gender reassignment” procedures brought mental health benefits. This happened after its authors admitted that the study found “no advantage to surgery” and that those who have had “gender reassignment” surgery “were more likely to be treated for anxiety disorders.”

The study, published October 4, 2019 in the American Journal of Psychiatry, purported to show that “gender-affirmation” treatment improves transgender mental health. The study utilized data from the Swedish Total Population Register, with information from more than 9.7 million Swedes, or about 95 percent of the country.

The claimed findings from the study led to headlines in mainstream media outlets proclaiming things like “Long-Term Mental Health Benefits of Gender-Affirming Surgery for Transgender Individuals” (American Psychiatric Association), “Sex-reassignment surgery yields long-term mental health benefits” (NBC News), and “Transgender surgery linked with better long-term mental health, study shows” (ABC News).

Earlier this month, the authors of the study issued a correction to their work, conceding that “the results demonstrated no advantage of surgery in relation to subsequent mood or anxiety disorder–related health care.”

Following the correction, the authors have now retracted the study altogether, saying their conclusion that “gender reassignment” procedures brought mental health benefits was “too strong.”

University of Texas sociology professor Mark Regneus pointed out last year that the study “found no mental health benefits for hormonal interventions in this population,” and the claim that “gender reassignment” surgery helped mental health hinged on the outcomes of only three people — from a total dataset of 9.7 million.

In their correction issued earlier this month, the authors of the study noted that gender-confused people who undergo “gender reassignment” surgery are more likely to be treated for anxiety disorders than those who don’t have such surgery.

“Individuals diagnosed with gender incongruence who had received gender-affirming surgery were more likely to be treated for anxiety disorders compared with individuals diagnosed with gender incongruence who had not received gender-affirming surgery,” the correction read.

Writing at The Daily Signal, Dr. Ryan Anderson pointed out that such findings are consistent with previous studies in this area.

“It shouldn’t surprise us that the results of this most recent study — and its correction — show that hormonal and surgical transition procedures don’t bring the promised benefits,” Anderson wrote.

“Even the Obama administration admitted that the best studies do not report improvement after reassignment surgery.”

Anderson cited a 2016 memo from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid that stated that “the four best designed and conducted studies that assessed quality of life before and after surgery using validated (albeit non-specific) psychometric studies did not demonstrate clinically significant changes or differences in psychometric test results after GRS (gender reassignment surgery).”

Anderson pointed out that the same Obama-era memo cited a 2011 Swedish study that identified significantly increased suicide rates among those who had “gender reassignment” surgery.

A range of scientific literature indicates that reinforcing a patient’s gender confusion often fails to prevent significant emotional harm up to and including attempted suicide (with or without surgery), because fixating on “gender affirmation” tends to distract from exploring other issues that may be the actual root of a patient’s mental or emotional unrest.

“Given all of these concerns, why the media celebration of the study? Why the ‘consensus’ among the medical elite that transitioning benefits patients? Why the claim that it’s the only acceptable treatment?” Anderson asked.

“Why are children being ‘transitioned’? And why are parents being told puberty-blocking drugs, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries are the only way to treat their children?”

OB/GYN stops praising birth control pill after patients’ side effects became unbearable

'The Pill has been masking whatever pathology was going on,' Dr. Summer Holmes Mason said.

August 13, 2020 (Live Action News) — Given the multiple side effects and risks of hormonal birth control, there has never been a better time for women to learn about evidence-based methods of fertility awareness. A growing number of medical professionals are utilizing fertility awareness–based methods (FABMs) of natural family planning as they seek to address root causes of infertility, and others are seeking to offer their female patients additional treatment options beyond a prescription for hormonal birth control to manage painful periods, irregular cycles, and more.

Dr. Summer Holmes Mason of Ohio is one such provider. In a 2019 interview with Natural Womanhood, she said that initially in her practice she considered hormonal birth control “bread and butter gynecology for me. It was probably one of the largest tools I had in my arsenal as an OBGYN to treat medical issues.” Yet, she found that birth control was not a good fit for some of her patients.

“After a couple of years, I realized people were coming back to me with more side effects than I thought was acceptable,” she said, recalling one patient who experienced a blood clot, a potentially life-threatening complication of hormonal birth control. Additionally, Dr. Holmes Mason saw other patients “cycle through birth control. They’d be on, sometimes, five or six or seven different kinds of birth-control pills . . . and they couldn’t find one that worked well for them.” Just as troubling, she found that hormonal birth control was masking symptoms rather than resolving underlying problems.

“Often times I see women in my office who have been on the Pill for 5 or 10 years, and they’ve had menstrual dysfunction since they were 12 or 13 years old. . . . I’m seeing them for the first time, and we don’t really know why their menses were dysfunctional,” Dr. Holmes Mason said. “The Pill has been masking whatever pathology was going on. Maybe they want to come off the Pill, for whatever reason — a medical issue, or they want to get pregnant. But the original issue still remains.”

She wanted to offer her patients more options, but her only exposure to FABMs during medical school and residency was learning about the rhythm method, a 1930s precursor to today’s evidence-based methods. She was surprised to find a podcast that featured an interview with Dr. Marguerite Duane, co-founder of the Fertility Awareness Collaborative to Teach the Science (FACTS), a group of medical professionals and others which works to “provide information about natural or fertility awareness based methods of family planning with the medical community.” When Dr. Duane specifically addressed the use of FABMs for medical management of common reproductive issues, Dr. Holmes Mason thought, “Aha! This does exist!”

Fast forward several years, and Dr. Holmes Mason is now certified in FEMM Medical Management, which along with Neo Fertility and NaProTechnology has treatment protocols for various reproductive problems that work to restore health by identifying and treating underlying root causes. For her part, Dr. Holmes Mason now says she has “so much more to offer” patients besides hormonal birth control.

Public perception about FABMs is slowly shifting, amongst medical professionals and users alike. Growing numbers of providers have incorporated FABMs, leading to significant increases in patient load. Georgetown University is now offering an elective on FABMs to med students. In 2019, the CDC finally updated its effectiveness statistics for FABMs. What’s more, a 2018 survey found that more than 4 in 10 women were open to hearing about FABMs from their OB/GYN.

Evidence-based FABMs offer women holistic options to restore reproductive health without side effects, and can be used to either achieve or avoid pregnancy. Their growing popularity is worth celebrating.

What do homosexuality and COVID-19 have in common?

Both COVID-19 and homosexuality have been oversold to the American public. The consequences have proven to be staggering.

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 13, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – What do homosexuality and COVID-19 have in common?

The American public vastly overestimates the presence of both.

A recent survey conducted by the research firm Kekst CNC found that Americans believe that 20 percent of their fellow citizens – that’s over 60 million people – have had COVID-19, 20 times the actual number of known cases.

Perhaps more astonishingly, Americans believe that nine percent of the population – a whopping 30 million people – has died as a result of contracting the coronavirus. The actual number, according to Johns Hopkins University’s Coronavirus Tracker, is about 166,000 as of this writing.

That’s an incredible 190 times the real number of COVID-19 deaths.

The Kekst report explains that people not only in the U.S. but around the world perceive the virus to be far more widespread than what actual figures show.

Gayflation

The COVID-19 survey results mirror a 2019 Gallup poll which showed that U.S. adults, on average, believe that about 25 percent of the population is gay or lesbian, more than five times the actual number.

Overall, a whopping 90 percent believe in an inflated number, with 54 percent of Americans estimating that gays and lesbians constitute more than 20 percent of the population, according to a June 17, 2019 Gallup poll. Thirty-five percent believe that more than a quarter of the nation is gay or lesbian.

Only eight percent of those polled came close to accurately estimating the LGBT population.

In reality, gay and lesbian individuals constitute less than 4.5 percent of the U.S. population.

Image

“Overestimations of the nation’s gay population may in part be due to the group’s outsized visibility,” suggested Gallup, citing a GLAAD report that found that 8.8 percent of primetime TV characters are LGBT.

Consequences

While the inflated perceptions concerning the number of U.S. gays and lesbians is no doubt a testament to the marketing acumen of LGBT lobbyists and promoters, the out-of-whack Wuhan estimates are most likely the result of the relentless daily barrage of media reports and government officials saturating the airwaves and news feeds with dire warnings 24/7.

These resulting overestimates are neither insignificant nor benign.

In the case of gays and lesbians, the misperception has had an outsized influence on voters, legislators, and judges, leading to distortions in law – most infamously in the fraying of the immutable definition of marriage and the eroding of religious freedom.

Regarding the pandemic, “Perception is reality when it comes to coronavirus,” say the authors of the Kekst CNC report.

“Such views will be impacting consumer behaviour and wider attitudes,” they warn. “Business leaders and governments will need to be conscious of this as they move to restart economies and transition into living with coronavirus for the medium to longer term.”

False perceptions about the magnitude of COVID-19 cases have “resulted in bizarre behavior, such as people literally leaping out of the way of other people walking their way and people being ‘too scared’ to go outside,” wrote Paul Joseph Watson for Summit News.

“The innumerable incidents involving aggressive confrontations and in some cases violent attacks on others for the sin of not social distancing or wearing a mask can also be partly explained by media scaremongering coverage of the pandemic,” suggested Watson.

Both COVID-19 and homosexuality have been oversold to the American public. The consequences have proven to be staggering.

WATCH: Bishop vs. Bishop on COVID vaccine mandate

Catholic bishops in the UK say it's a 'duty' to be vaccinated while Joseph Strickland of Tyler, Texas reiterated his opposition to vaccines created using cell lines from aborted babies.

PETITION: No to mandatory vaccination for the coronavirus! Sign the petition here.

August 13, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – LifeSite’s London correspondent Paul Smeaton has reported that in the United Kingdom the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales has stated that Catholics have a “duty to be vaccinated,” even if the shots are made using aborted babies.

“The Catholic Church strongly supports vaccination and regards Catholics as having a prima facie duty to be vaccinated, not only for the sake of their own health but also out of solidarity with others, especially the most vulnerable,” the letter, released Thursday, July 30 states.

“We believe that there is a moral obligation to guarantee the vaccination coverage necessary for the safety of others. This is especially important for the discovery of a vaccine against COVID-19,” the bishops continue.

While the letter notes that “[t]he Church is opposed to the production of vaccines using tissue derived from aborted foetuses,” it also states that “the Church teaches that the paramount importance of the health of a child and other vulnerable persons could permit parents to use a vaccine which was in the past developed using these diploid cell lines.”

The bishops then briefly mention the 2005 Pontifical Academy for Life document “Moral reflections on vaccines prepared from cells derived from aborted human foetuses” before quoting a separate 2017 Pontifical Academy for Life statement, which asserts that “all clinically recommended vaccinations can be used with a clear conscience and that the use of such vaccines does not signify some sort of cooperation with voluntary abortion.”

U.K. Catholic Deacon Nick Donnelly told Church Militant that “one of the cell lines being exploited in the production of the COVID-19 vaccine at Oxford University is from a healthy baby girl murdered through abortion in 1972 in the Netherlands.”

“Her kidney cells were harvested for medical research and given the dehumanizing label HEK-293. She’d probably be a 40-year-old mother with her own family by now,” Donnelly said.

“I don’t know how CBCEW can say it’s okay for Catholics to use vaccines incorporating cell lines from babies murdered through abortion,” he continued.

“Instead, the bishops are saying not only is it morally permissible to benefit from her murder through abortion, but that its a moral obligation for the greater good.”

In an open letter published in May, Catholic clergy and laity led by former papal nuncio Archbishop Viganò and Cardinals Gerhard Ludwig Müller, Joseph Zen, and Janis Pujats said that “for Catholics it is morally unacceptable to develop or use vaccines derived from material from aborted fetuses.”

This weekend, Bishop Joseph Strickland of Tyler, Texas reiterated his opposition to vaccines created using cell lines from aborted babies.

“I renew my call that we reject any vaccine that is developed using aborted children,” Strickland tweeted.

“Even if it originated decades ago it still means a child’s life was ended before it was born & then their body was used as spare parts. We will never end abortion if we do not END THIS EVIL!”
