March 26, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) -- Two herbal treatments for the Wuhan virus developed by Archbishop Samuel Kleda of Douala, Cameroon, and approved for use by a government scientific committee have recently been offered on the export market after having been given to some 10,000 people locally with good results since the appearance of the coronavirus through January 2021, according to its producers.

A statement published March 17 by Dr. Marius Macaire Biloa, national coordinator of the Catholic Health Association of Cameroon (OCASC), announced that the treatments Elixir Covid and Adsak Covid are now available for the foreign market, priced at 20,000 CFA francs, some 30 euro or 36 US dollars, and would be exclusively available at the Bishops’ Conference of Cameroon and at the health coordination of the Archdiocese of Douala.

The medicines have been provided totally free of charge within Cameroon and will remain free for anyone who needs them in diocesan centers all over the country.

They are currently being offered to patients after consultation and lab tests to confirm SARS-CoV-2 positivity, mainly in a dozen Catholic health centers in Cameroon’s largest cities, Douala and Yaoundé, where most coronavirus cases have been registered.

When the crisis broke out worldwide last spring, all eyes turned to Africa, and many epidemiologists warned that chaos and horrific death tolls were on the horizon because of the continent’s large population concentrations, and lack of hygiene and medical care. However, Africa, especially sub-Saharan Africa, was largely spared, with few registered contaminations and a lower death toll than in the developed countries of the West.

This did not prevent severe anti-coronavisus measures in many African countries, but the Africans did not go so far as to ban possible treatments. And it is now the continent that had the least to suffer from the pandemic.

Of course, Africa has a much younger population than the other continents and is therefore less exposed to the worst consequences of contagion by SARS-CoV-2, which mostly kills elderly or gravely ill people. But contagion itself has also been kept to a much lower level. More or less left to themselves, many African countries have chosen to confront the danger in their own way, which includes trying old, proven medicines such as hydroxychloroquine and plants such as artemisia, which was promoted in the island of Madagascar (369 deaths since the beginning of the crisis from a total population of 26.26 million).

Kleda, who was made Archbishop of Douala, Cameroon’s economic capital, in 2009 by Pope Benedict XVI, has long been known for his passion for naturopathy and herbal medicines. He first started looking for natural remedies as rector of the Little Seminary of Saint-Paul-de-Guider, in north Cameroon, 30 years ago, because “ordinary” drugs were not available to treat children.

The archbishop does not want the use of substances inspired by traditional medicine to be confused with sorcery and magic. “We treat thanks to plants and with the intercession of the Virgin Mary,” he has been known to say. Since 2009, he opened a herbal store where he received the public and gave advice in his spare time.

When the coronavirus entered Cameroon, Archbishop Kleda pleaded for a very strict confinement – but also started searching for a possible plant combination.

“I already knew the plants used for the symptoms of the coronavirus. I simply set up all the recipes that I had at my disposal,” he said in April. At the time, he said he had already treated several hundred people. “There was not one death. All those who took the medicine were healed,” he claimed.

While Archbishop Kleda has not published the formula of his treatment, he did tell the population that eating onions and garlic will rapidly reinforce the immune system of people who have been weakened by the Wuhan virus.

The College of Physicians at the time warned against many of the herbal recipes that were already circulating in Cameroon, saying they needed to be assessed for possible serious side effects. “Those who are skeptic should remain within their skepticism, that is their right; we are getting in with our job,” responded Kleda.

By the end of April 2020, he claimed publicly that he had found a natural treatment that could reduce the symptoms of the disease linked to the Wuhan coronavirus.

Immediately, dispensaries were set up and run by the Archdiocese of Douala, attracting thousands of people who got free treatment, while the Archbishop received local private funding to continue his research. By May 7, many restrictions were lifted, bars that had been subject to early closing times were opened again in the evening, and doomsayers said contaminations would skyrocket. It didn’t happen. With a population of 25 million, Cameroon had only 601 deaths attributed to the coronavirus to date.

Archbishop Kleda’s remedy attracted more and more locals, to the point that even people who needed hospital care because of the Wuhan virus arranged for it to be brought to them.

At first, a member of the political opposition celebrated Kleda’s invention, saying the remedy “should be a source of national pride.” The former head of the Cameroon barristers’ association, Yondo Black, and a number of businessmen raised money to buy medical equipment and production units for the archbishop’s new treatment. The owner of a large media group in the country also supported Kleda. Even Cameroon’s health minister, Dr. Malachie Manaouda, stepped in at the end of April in order to get a closer look at Kleda’s miracle remedy.

On May 19, the president of Cameroon encouraged “all efforts to develop a local treatment against COVID-19.”

By June, the archbishop was invited by Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute to join the official group of health specialists for an audition by the Cameroon Parliament. Ngute himself had already met with Kleda.

At the time, the president of the National Assembly, Cavaye Yeguié Djibril, urged all to set aside prejudice and division regarding traditional medicines, invoking the “national interest” and the necessity to update the problem. Kleda added that phytotherapy should be studied in universities so that doctors and technicians can use them correctly.

Manaouda now wholeheartedly stands behind the archbishop’s healing remedy. He stated earlier this week that the contribution of traditional medicine has mitigated the number of people who fell ill with coronavirus and helped to bring down the percentage of victims of a grave form of the illness. The Cameroon Press Agency noted last Wednesday that “by now, no one can ignore the benefits of the anti-COVID protocol set up by the metropolitan archbishop of Douala, Bishop Samuel Kleda, which has proved its worth.”

Didier Raoult, France’s charismatic infectiologist from Marseille who promoted the use of hydroxychloroquine from the start before recommending the addition of Zithromax and zinc, has repeatedly praised Africa’s pragmatic approach to the epidemic, stressing that Africans not only are prepared to use cheap drugs in new ways – something that goes directly against the interest of the pharmaceutical industry that thrives on new patents – but that they are also way ahead in science about the coronavirus with highly trained specialists and first-rate hospitals.

And contrary to many developed countries, African nations have actually been treating their coronavirus patients.

By March 23, according to statistics released by the African Center for Disease Control and Prevention, a total of 4,123,632 “cases” of COVID-19 were registered on the continent, and 110,164 people died. Africa has a population of 1.216 billion.

March 26, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – Our Spring fundraising campaign ends in just 6 short days, and we have raised only $217,000 of our absolutely minimum $400,000 goal so far.

New readers may not realize that LifeSite is a 100% reader-funded organization. That means there are no political groups, religious groups, corporations or other outsiders that direct what we report.

LifeSite relies solely on everyday readers, like you, to make it possible for us to report truthful news.

If you are not already a regular supporter, please join all the others to ensure that we can successfully take on the massive costs associated with detaching from Big Tech. That involves opening our own International Broadcast Hub and replacing most of our current services with ones that will not be suddenly yanked away from us because we are not politically correct sheeples

With millions of people reading our news reporting each month, it would only take a fraction of our readers to chip in even just $25 to bring us closer to the finish line so that our new studio can become a reality. Follow this link to donate today: https://give.lifesitenews.com

When you become a supporter, your generosity will help us reach millions of people around the world, just like you, with the BIG PICTURE perspective, and often overlooked connections, between the many issues surrounding the battle between the Culture of Life and the Culture of Death.

One LifeSite reader, who recently became a supporter after experiencing one of our recent video production efforts, told us, "I just finished watching the replay of your video conference, ‘Unmasking COVID-19: Vaccines, Mandates, and Global Health.’ The speakers were outstanding, and the take-away points were clear and unmistakable. I was so powerfully moved that I am making this donation to your organization. God bless you all, and God bless your work!"

Another reader shared how important our news is for those they are trying to inform: "For several years now, I have relied on LifeSite as my news source. I have shared videos and articles with friends and family and they too appreciate responsible journalism. Thank you for covering the hard topics, for loving the Church enough to expose her poverty, and most of all for defending the life of all our precious unborn babes!

Another supporter told us why they recently decided to support our efforts: "Since you were kicked off YouTube, I thought you could use the money. Also, the encroaching communism seems like it is going to get a lot worse and I want to see you to continue to fight it."

And another recently shared: "I was saddened to learn of the censorship assault on life site news videos. I really thought your website was flying under the radar. It's obvious that big tech is not done with attempting to obliterate the truth from the masses. I pray that Truth will prevail."

Lastly, this supporter told us,"It is very important that you should succeed in developing and using your own secure platform for distributing news (including by video). This donation of $1,000 is to support you in doing that.

So, will you join these LifeSite readers who support our mission so that we can continue to have a platform - unattached to Big Tech - to provide truthful news and shine a light in the darkness?

A gift of $500, $250, $100, or even just $30 can help us cover the upfront costs associated with expanding our video broadcasting efforts as part of our plans to detach from Big Tech completely. Make a secure donation now by visiting https://give.lifesitenews.com

At a time when almost everyone is bewildered and not understanding the painful craziness that is going on, and not knowing where they can turn to find the answers they desperately need, it’s crucial that LifeSite continues its life and freedom saving mission

We must continue to speak the truth no matter the cost.

Our readership has grown tremendously this past year due tomillions of people fleeing away from mainstream media outlets. With even ‘conservative’ outlets like Fox News failing to uphold the truth, many have come to LifeSite to fill the void.

By supporting our efforts with a donation, you will help ensure that those who are seeking a go-to truthful news source will find it in LifeSiteNews.

We are depending on you this Spring and I thank you in advance for your willingness to become a much-needed member of jthe LifeSite giving family with your donation

‘You and your family are going to regret’ not getting COVID shot: Canadian doctor

‘Believe me, if you turn out to be one of those people who delays getting the vaccine and then gets COVID and then end up in my ICU, you and your family are going to regret it.’

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, March 26, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — Individuals and families in Winnipeg that delay taking the COVID vaccine and then test positive for the coronavirus will “regret” having failed to be injected, threatened Dr. Anand Kumar, who works at two major hospitals in the city.

“Believe me, if you turn out to be one of those people who delays getting the vaccine and then gets COVID and then end up in my ICU, you and your family are going to regret it,” Kumar told Global News on March 22.

Dr. Anand Kumar, a supporter of euthanasia, is a faculty member at the University of Manitoba. At the university, he is also the Director of Research for Critical Care Medicine. As an “infectious disease expert,” Kumar studied the treatment of septic shock using antimicrobial therapy. He works in the ICU at both St. Boniface Hospital and Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg.

LifeSiteNews reached out to Kumar for comment, but did not receive a response before press time.

The Manitoba government is campaigning hard and encouraging everyone to take any of the COVID vaccines available. Manitoba’s chief public health officer, Dr. Brent Roussin, said he would be “concerned with any hesitancy to get vaccinated.”

To date, Manitoba has injected 235,880 doses of the various vaccines, with a goal of 20,000 per day between over 900 clinics in the province

Dr. Anand Kumar, meanwhile, believes Manitoba is on the verge of a “third wave” of COVID.

He essentially told the province’s population to simply trust the experts, saying, “Let the people who do this for a living figure it out and those of us who do this for a living would say that all these vaccines are highly effective.”

Currently, there are four approved vaccines available in Canada. Two of them, Moderna and Pfizer use mRNA technology, which has been characterized by observers as “gene therapy.” All four vaccines caution that “the safety and effectiveness in people younger than 16 years of age has not yet been established.”

Moderna, the multi-billion dollar corporation, has never brought an approved medical product to the market, is currently embroiled in a court case over illegal use of biotechnology, and has limited interest in publishing their experimental data and academic papers.

Many experts have urged to be cautions with COVID vaccines, pointing out that the experimental biological agent was rushed through the process of development, testing, approval, and now distribution, with a new “messenger RNA” technology, no industry-standard animal trials, nor any sufficient studies on long-term effects.

Serious safety concerns from experts include “allergic” and “potentially fatal reactions,” risks that these vaccines may cause infertility in women, result in an increased vulnerability to the virus, and present unacceptable dangers of long-term effects due to a lack of proper testing.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) also drew up a document last fall listing the possible side-effects from experimental COVID-19 vaccines, including strokes, encephalitis, auto-immune disease, birth defects, Kawasaki disease, and death.

Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as contained in the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), shows that up to March 11, there were 38,444 adverse side effects following a COVID injection, including 1,739 deaths. 734 people were left with permanent disabilities, and 48 birth defects occurred.

Of more than 38,000 adverse effects, only 14,128 had returned to normal. The figures indicate that 4.5% of those injected died shortly after, and 36.8% recovered, showing that the injections would appear to be more harmful that the virus itself. Data for the U.S. shows that out of 30,616,099 positive tests for the virus, 1.8% (556,422) have been listed with COVID on their death certificate, and 74.8% (22,902,371) of people have recovered.

To report doctors like Dr. Anand and demand respect and safe care in our hospitals regarding the choice to choose to vaccinate or not, contact the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba by emailing [email protected].

MILWAUKEE, March 26, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – The Wisconsin judge charged last week for possession of child pornography has been barred from unsupervised contact with most children while his case is pending … except for the two children living in his own home with him and his “husband.”

Brett Blomme, a 38-year-old Milwaukee Children’s Court judge, has been charged with seven counts of child porn possession for allegedly uploading 27 videos and pictures of the sexual abuse of children to the internet.

The news shocked many due to Blomme’s job presiding over cases involving children, followed by the revelation that Blomme was president of the Milwaukee-based LGBT group Cream City Foundation (CCF), which has been a financial sponsor of Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH) events in which cross-dressers read to children at public libraries, often with sexually suggestive undertones as well as messages reinforcing the notions that gender is fluid and subjective.

The Wisconsin State Journal reported that Blomme faces up to 25 years of combined prison and extended supervision, and, while currently out of jail on bond, has been ordered “not to use social media or file-sharing capabilities on the internet and not to have any unsupervised contact with minor children other than his own.”

That last detail caught the attention of children’s rights advocates Katy Faust and Stacy Manning, who asked at The Federalist, “Were these children placed with these two men because of the mistaken belief that these adults had a ‘right to adopt,’ or because it truly was in the best interest of these children?”

“Given these new revelations, we’d be willing to wager that this placement was influenced by a bureaucratic desire to appear tolerant and inclusive rather than prioritizing a home that would satisfy these children’s natural longing for both paternal and maternal love,” Faust and Manning argued.

Blomme was an active donor to various Wisconsin Democrats, including U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, and state Sen. LaTonya Johnson, all of whom now say they will give the amounts they received to charity, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. Conservative commentator Dan O’Donnell noted that Blomme has been worked for, been photographed with, and received endorsements from various state Democrats over the years, including Barrett, U.S. Rep. Gwen Moore, Milwaukee Common Council President Cavalier Johnson, and Milwaukee Alderwoman and former State Assemblywoman JoCasta Zamarripa.

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, March 26, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — A Canadian mother, who, along with her four children and the children’s grandmother, were each fined $3,000 after Canadian border agents refused to accept the results of their COVID tests — because the results were 2 hours expired — will fight the charges in court if they are not dropped by the Crown.

“We have rights as Canadians and these rights are being violated. I am ready to fight the good fight,” the mother, a registered nurse (RNBN) who works in chronic care, told LifeSiteNews under condition that her name not be published due to fears of retaliation.

“If the charges are not dropped by the Crown, the next step is to set a court date. Our deadline is April 2, 2021.”

LifeSiteNews reported last month how the mother and her family were returning from the U.S. to Manitoba after having attended the 79-year-old grandmother’s medical appointment and visited family.

They all received negative COVID tests prior to crossing the border by car to return home. Due to car trouble, by the time they reached the border, the tests, which have a 72-hour window of validity, were two hours expired. Border agents not only rejected the tests but went on to slap the family with the maximum fine for failing to “comply with an order reguarding [sic] a treatment measure for preventing the introduction and spread of a communicable disease.”

The family was then hustled off to a government-run COVID quarantine facility where they were forced to stay until they could receive additional COVID tests.

The mother related details to LifeSiteNews this week about their stay in the quarantine facility.

“We stayed in the hotel, 3 days and 2 nights. We did our schoolwork, prayed, had zoom dancing lessons, and ate our meals,” she said.

“We were escorted outside once a day for a walk around the property. A nurse came to the room for a wellness/symptom check every morning. Finally, we all received our negative results at 8:00 pm Wednesday, February 17. We needed to wait for the quarantine officer to email a ‘discharge’ note for each of us and this happened quickly.”

“We were so happy to get to go home. We were all still puzzled why we needed to go to the hotel in the first place,” she added.

For the next number of days, government agents, empowered by the Quarantine Act, would call the family to make sure they were compliant with the rules related to quarantining at home.

“They called 6 times a day,” the mother related, “one call for each person.”

“They were very concerned about where the non-traveler, my husband, was living in the house. They kept asking how were we keeping separate, even though we all had 2 negative tests each. They also made one house call where we needed to show ID and answer a bunch of questions again.”

The mother did not sit idle at home. She related how she called the border agents numerous times, asking why her children had been fined and how the children were expected to pay the fines.

“I explained the situation, focussing on how I did not understand how my 9-year-old, or 12-year-old, etc. were expected to pay this fine. Within that week, I received a letter sent by registered mail from the Public Prosecution Service of Canada stating that the ‘the Crown will not be prosecuting your children.’”

The mother said that she wished at the time of the border crossing she had known more about her rights as a Canadian citizen. She would have insisted on the agents respecting her rights.

“I wish I knew more about my rights and what to say and how to stand up for them. I’ve learned a lot by reading endless posts about how to oppose the stringent measures. We have rights as Canadians and these rights are being violated. I am ready to fight the good fight.”

The mother has secured the legal services of the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms to help in her battle.

The mother said she is “disappointed” with how Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government is handling the virus with measures that attack Canadian rights and freedoms.

“I would hope that the intent of these fines was not to put a middle-class family (and a front-line worker) through such an incredible amount of stress, during an already stressful time,” she said. “Safety is one thing, what happened to us was not about safety.”

“In February I was trying to comply. Now, I want to tell our political leaders, ‘I do not consent,’ as was so eloquently said by Dr. Anne McCloskey. I am ready to stand up for our rights.”

Could early treatment of COVID have saved lives?

'COVID-19 is the only medical problem that comes into public view every day with no mention of early treatment. Patients are handed their positive SARS-Cov-2 result and given no advice on treatment, no hotline for available research protocols, no prescriptions, and no medical follow-up to adjust regimens.'

March 26, 2021 (HeartlandDailyNews) – If Marty Makary, M.D., is correct in saying the decline in cases dating from early January cannot be attributed to vaccines, this raises an intriguing question: Would widespread use of other treatments, such as hydroxychloroquine or ivermectin, in the early stages of the virus have saved more lives while vaccines were still under development?

“The most critical and pernicious blunder from all stakeholders involved in the pandemic response is a blind-spot on COVID-19 treatment,” said Peter A. McCullough, MD, MPH,  vice chief of internal medicine and cardiovascular disease at Baylor University Medical Center.  “Millions have been ill and more than 500,000 have died without task forces, panels, public presentations, and international collaboration on treatment regimens to manage patients at home in order to reduce spread, hospitalization, and death.

“COVID-19 is the only medical problem that comes into public view every day with no mention of early treatment,” McCullough said.  “Patients are handed their positive SARS-Cov-2 result and given no advice on treatment, no hotline for available research protocols, no prescriptions, and no medical follow-up to adjust regimens.

“It is a colossal blunder by Dr. Fauci and all who have been involved in the NIH/CDC/FDA/White House Task Force to ignore the high-risk patient and his/her journey with COVID-19 and to understand that such a serious medical problem requires constant agency, attention, and engagement with the medical community to reduce the risk of hospitalization and death,” McCullough told  Health Care News.  “Because of obvious shortcomings, the U.S. has had record morbidity and mortality, the vast majority of which was completely avoidable. This American tragedy will undoubtedly become the focus of investigative historians who will reel through days and weeks and months of press briefings, media interviews, and public statements without a single mention of how doctors should and could treat patients.”

Ignoring solutions

Joel S. Hirschhorn, author of the new book “Pandemic Blunder” (see review, page 13) and a former university professor and government official, laments the opportunities and lives lost through the government’s refusal to use readily available medical means to confront the pandemic.

“Fauci and the government perversely interpret a lot of good news on the COVID-19 pandemic,” Hirschhorn tells Health Care News.  “One is their sick commitment to the continued use of contagion controls including masking and limits imposed on small businesses.  The other is their refusal to acknowledge and use mounting medical evidence that a variety of preventive early home treatments knock out the virus and keep people out of the hospital.  The latter is an alternative to taking a vaccine, which many people still do not feel comfortable doing.”

CDC finds masks, indoor dining bans don’t stop virus, but media ignores

The bottom line is, the contagion control taught nothing not known earlier. 'What we really have to rely on is common sense. If you are sick, stay home and isolate. If you are healthy, get some sunshine, cough into your elbow, and most important wash your hands.'

March 26, 2021 (HeartlandDailyNews) – Masks and bans on indoor dining do little to stop the spread of  COVID-19, according to a new report by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Infection, and media outlets that covered the findings downplayed the results.

According to the CDC report, published March 12 in the agency’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, while mask mandates and indoor restaurant bans did decrease daily cases of COVID-19 and deaths, the results were a correlation and a tiny one at that.

Mask mandates reduced case growth between zero and 1.8 percent, and COVID death rates by .7 and 1.9 percent, with an increase in deaths 21-40 days after the mandate went into effect.  Indoor dining bans decreased case growth between .1 and .4 percent with an increase in cases in four time periods the bans were implemented. Restaurant bans were associated with a slight growth in COVID mortality.

Media outlets reported the findings but downplayed the numbers. “CDC study shows link between mask mandates, reduced COVID-19 spread as states lift restrictions,” reported ABC on March 5 (the day the result released to the public). “CDC study finds easing mask and restaurant rules led to more COVID cases and deaths, as some states move to lift restrictions,” stated CNBC.

Mississippi and Texas governors have announced a full re-opening of their states after months of mandates have crippled some industries and reduced education to tumultuous virtual learning. President Biden criticized reopening as “Neanderthal thinking.”

Low Impact, Nothing New

The CDC’s findings on masks are in line with a Danish study published in November and a study on quarantined Marine recruits published in the New England Journal of Medicine in December. Both studies found limited evidence that mask-wearing was effective in stopping the spread of SARS-CoV-2.  On September 11, CDC reported in a group of 314 with and without COVID-19, there was no significant difference in vigilant mask use.

On March 8, CDC stated fully-vaccinated people do not have to wear masks while mingling with vaccinated people or unvaccinated individuals from a single household who are at low-risk for severe disease

“Masks do little to protect people from disease,” said Patrick Wood, director and founder of Citizens for Free Speech. “There are no scientific studies that show this. People will ask, then why have masks always been worn in medical settings? The answer is simple – to protect patients and providers from saliva, Wood told Health Care News. “There may be a reason for some people to wear face masks in public, but for the general population, masks can pose a health risk. Medical experts agree and a number of people are making this point.”

“I find the new guidance for the vaccinated individuals curious,” Singleton said. “The vaccine guidance says that vaccinated folks while visiting with other fully vaccinated can take off their masks and get close to one another in their own home as if most people were not already doing that. They can also go mask-less with unvaccinated low-risk individuals. Fully vaccinated folks are still told to wear masks outside the home. We are told to accept this unscientific recommendation as ‘the new normal’ as if that makes it reasonable or rational.”

The mask guidance for vaccinated individuals is curious, says Marilyn Singleton, M.D., J.D., a former president of the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons who has written widely on masks. “The vaccine guidance says that vaccinated folks while visiting with other fully vaccinated [people] can take off their masks and get close to one another in their own home as if most people were not already doing that,” said Singleton. “They can also go mask-less with unvaccinated low-risk individuals. Fully vaccinated folks are still told to wear masks outside the home. We are told to accept this unscientific recommendation as ‘the new normal’ as if that makes it reasonable or rational.”

Florida v. California

Now state lockdowns have been in place for one year, it is easier to measure the effectiveness of mitigation measures. AnneMarie Knott, a business professor with Washington University who has been examining COVID trends. Most recently Knott has compared weekly COVID-19 deaths between highly restrictive California and Florida, which limited restrictions, using CDC data.

“Florida’s population is much older, so it should have had a higher COVID death rate than California, but it took the hits early, and in the end has a lower total death rate of 1.22 per 1000 versus 1.32 per 1000,” Knott told Health Care News.

Death rates in highly restricted versus low-restriction states do not support mask efficacy. As for the slight decrease in cases, CDC noted for masks, Knott offers one explanation. “One thing the study may be picking up is that states impose masks when cases are rising. Cases naturally peak after that, then decline.  So the study may be giving masks credit for something that happens naturally.”

Common Sense

Indoor dining bans have devastated the dining industry with restaurants and bars losing more than 370,000 jobs in December, a record high,  according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

On-premises dining was reopened in the majority (97.9 percent) of U.S. counties during the CDC’s study. According to the report, “Changes in daily COVID-19 case and death growth rates were not statistically significant.”

The bottom line is the contagion control taught nothing not known earlier. “What we really have to rely on is common sense,” said Singleton. “If you are sick, stay home and isolate. If you are healthy, get some sunshine, cough into your elbow, and most important wash your hands.”

LITTLE ROCK, March 26, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — Arkansas became the second state to formally exclude biological males from female athletic programs on Thursday, thanks to Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson signing SB354, the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act.

The new law applies to school, intramural, and club sports from elementary school all the way up to the collegiate level, ensuring that girls will only have to compete against other girls for athletic success, scholarship consideration, or professional opportunities.

“I have studied the law and heard from hundreds of constituents on this issue,” Hutchinson said in a statement. “I signed the law as a fan of women’s sports from basketball to soccer and including many others in which women compete successfully. This law simply says that female athletes should not have to compete in a sport against a student of the male sex when the sport is designed for women’s competition. As I have stated previously, I agree with the intention of this law. This will help promote and maintain fairness in women’s sporting events.”

LGBT activists claim it’s “discriminatory” to reserve female competitive sports for actual females, but science confirms that “trans women” (i.e., biological men) retain distinct physical advantages through which they can deprive actual female athletes of recognition and scholarship opportunities intended to advance girls.

In a paper published by the Journal of Medical Ethics, New Zealand researchers found that “healthy young men [do] not lose significant muscle mass [or power] when their circulating testosterone levels were reduced to [below International Olympic Committee guidelines] for 20 weeks,” and “indirect effects of testosterone” on factors such as bone structure, lung volume, and heart size “will not be altered by hormone therapy”; therefore, “the advantage to transwomen [biological men] afforded by the [International Olympic Committee] guidelines is an intolerable unfairness.”

During a Senate hearing on the LGBT lobby’s so-called “Equality Act” last week, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) noted that the speed of world record-holding runner Florence Griffith Joyner, while still unmatched by female successors, was surpassed by 76 American high-school boys in 2019 alone.

Arkansas follows Mississippi’s enactment of a similar ban earlier this month. Arkansas would have been the third state to do so, but women’s sports protection legislation was stalled in South Dakota recently thanks to Republican Gov. Kristi Noem’s last-minute objections to its language, despite having previously said she was “excited” to sign it into law.

MEDICINE HAT, Alberta, March 26, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – An outspoken provincial politician from Alberta says that it was a “mistake” for governments to not list religious practice as “essential” when locking the population down with COVID health orders.

“I think one of the things that governments, one of the mistakes that governments all around the world made at the start of this thing a year ago now, was not to define religious practice, spiritual freedom, as an essential part of our life and our way of life,” said Drew Barnes, the United Conservative Party (UCP) MLA for Medicine Hat to LifeSiteNews.

“You know, we are in a situation now where we can only have 10 people at a wedding, but the next day there could be 50 people at a funeral. And the day after that, there could be 150 people. In the communication, it has been forgotten how important our spiritual health is, our mental health is our physical health, and our economic health. And I'm absolutely a believer in freedoms of all kinds, our freedom of expression and our freedom of speech, and our freedom of religion. Absolutely.”

Barnes also told LifeSiteNews that many of his constituents have said loud and clear they are suffering “from COVID fatigue and information overload.”

“I think almost all of us are suffering from COVID fatigue and information overload. I've talked to many Albertans in the last little while that are looking for hope or looking for faith or looking for the opportunity to return to a normal life with their friends and their family,” said Barnes.

“And sometimes there's too much of a message. So going forward—and I think it's best not to look back going forward—let's focus on opportunity and faith in the future.”

There have been few politicians in Canada at all levels of government who have come out against COVID lockdowns to highlight the negative effects they have had on people’s mental health.

Barnes, however, has not been afraid to speak his mind and has consistently advocated for a regional approach to lockdowns, arguing that the negative effects they have caused cannot be ignored.

Only recently, a total of six UCP MLA’s including Barnes went public to show their anger over the flip-flopping of UCP Alberta Premier Jason Kenney’s backtracking on planned COVID-related restriction relaxations.

On Monday, the Alberta government said that due to rising “variant” cases of COVID, they would not be relaxing further restrictions. Barnes spoke out strongly against this, saying in a statement he believes in a regional approach, especially considering his riding only has a dozen or so active cases.

Barnes told LifeSiteNews that he has spoken to many MLAs who are in favor of a regional approach. He has also joined the End The Lockdown Caucus. Another Alberta MLA, Angela Pitt is also part of this caucus.

Liberty Coalition Canada (LCC) is behind the “End the Lockdowns National Caucus,” which is a non-partisan group of current and former elected politicians with the common aim to end all “lockdowns” in Canada.

Independent Ontario MPP Randy Hillier, Independent MP Derek Sloan, and People’s Party of Canada leader Maxime Bernier are also part of the group.

Barnes told LifeSiteNews one of the reasons he joined the group is that he realizes and sees the unprecedented stripping of Canadians freedoms due to COVID lockdowns.

“The main goal of it is to analyze government regulations and government actions during the COVID lockdown. And let's look at that, we've had a couple of great meetings. There's more to go,” said Barnes.

“Let's look at where civil liberties were infringed on, let's look at where mistakes were made, let's look at what was done right. And then if this persists, whether it's the third way or the seventh wave, whether it's COVID 20 or whatever, let's do everything we can to get that balance right.”

Spike in suicides

Barnes riding has seen a spike in suicides since the start of the COVID crisis, mostly in middle-aged men, which he says shows the dire state of mental health in the area.

“We have a mental health and an economic crisis here as big as the COVID crisis. It is so sad, the amount of self-harm, the amount of addiction, and the number of overdoses. And you know, the lack of opportunity, the lack of chance to live a normal life is certainly had a big effect on mental health,” Barnes told LifeSiteNews.

“It's incumbent on us decision-makers to get this right. It's incumbent on us to make sure that if we go into this kind of thing again, that we've learned from any mistakes that were made this time. And God bless every family and person that's been affected.”

Since the jailing of Alberta Pastor James Coates of Grace Life Church (Grace Life) in Spruce Grove, Kenney, and his UCP government have come under increased fire from many who oppose lockdowns.

Although Coates was released this past Monday after a $1,500 fine was paid “as time served,” the Kenney government recently backtracked on planned easing of restrictions on church attendance size.

Kenney’s provincial government allows retail businesses to operate at 25 percent capacity, but churches, remain capped at 15 percent.

About Coates, Barnes said it was an “awkward, awkward situation where we're letting criminals out of jail. But we have pastors in jail for breaking different rules.”

“You know, bless Pastor Jones and his family…these are the things that we cannot afford to get wrong in the future,” Barnes told LifeSiteNews.

A recently published LifeSiteNews report details how according to a source with inside knowledge of Kenney’s UCP, the provincial leader has placed a gag order on his caucus members, preventing them from voicing their opposition to COVID lockdowns.

Barnes told LifeSiteNews that nothing will stop him from being critical about the government’s handling of the COVID situation.

“Well, I always think that actions speak louder than words, and I have not slowed down at all in speaking when the government does something well and when the government does something poorly,” said Barnes.

“I'm honored to be the representative of Cyprus Medicine Hat. Now, in my third term, I'm grateful for the chance to do this. And I am going to continue to speak up when my constituents need something, when my constituents feel that there is a better idea or a better way. And at this point in time, I'm able to do that and I'm going to continue to appreciate that.”

Outside of Barnes’ office, anti-lockdown protests have been held with regularity.

At one protest, Barnes said that he will always “fight for” Alberta families and their freedoms, saying that “we are taking this message, we’re passing it along to Premier Kenney, we’re passing it along to all of the UCP caucus.”

“This is about Alberta’s future, this is about creating the type of future where it’s faith not fear, where it’s about families … self reliance.”

As for the Kenney government, the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF) is currently suing the Alberta government over passing Bill 10 last year. The Public Health Act has been criticized for “providing sweeping, extraordinary, and nearly unlimited powers to any government minister at the stroke of a pen.”

The Alberta government, along with its health officials, has repeatedly stated that the health care system in the province would be overwhelmed were it not for COVID-19 lockdown measures, which have been in place for roughly a year.

However, an internal memo indicated that intensive care unit (ICU) admissions in the Canadian province of Alberta were lower in 2020 than in 2019. According to statistics compiled by the JCCF, based on data from the government, the survival rate in Alberta from COVID-19 is 99.96 percent.

First lawsuit against COVID-19 vaccine mandate filed in US

‘This is a case where the supervisor is just dead wrong. They absolutely don’t have the right to force anyone to take an experimental medical product,’ one lawyer said.

March 26, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — Legal challenges to COVID-19 vaccine mandates have begun in the U.S., with the first lawsuit against compulsory coronavirus vaccination filed late last month in New Mexico.

Corrections officer Isaac Legaretta sued his supervisors and local officials on February 28, after New Mexico’s Doña Ana County mandated COVID-19 vaccine injections for all first responders.

In his complaint, Legaretta said he had been threatened with termination and written up at work multiple times for refusing to accept experimental COVID-19 vaccination. The county gave Legaretta just five days to provide proof of vaccination, according to a memo from February that he provided. Legaretta is seeking an injunction to block his termination or to reinstate him in the event that he loses his job.

Doña Ana initially announced in January that all first responders in the county, including police officers and detention center employees, must receive COVID-19 shots as a condition for continued employment.

“It is required that, if you have not already started your vaccinations, that you be vaccinated with your first dose on one of those days, or contact Human Resources for accommodation,” a January 29 notice from County Manager Fernando Macias read. “Being vaccinated is a requirement and a condition of on-going employment with the County due to the significant health and safety risks posed by contracting or spreading COVID-19.”

The abortion-tainted COVID-19 vaccines currently being rolled out in the U.S. have been approved only with emergency use authorization (EUA) by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Federal law indicates that products granted EUA cannot be mandated, as Legaretta’s complaint argues. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in August also stated that COVID-19 vaccines “are not allowed to be mandatory.”

There is no New Mexico law providing for compulsory vaccination during a public health emergency, and the state health department has said that it will not try to require people to take the shots.

“This is a case where the supervisor is just dead wrong. They absolutely don’t have the right to force anyone to take an experimental medical product,” Legaretta’s attorney Ana Garner said, adding that people have “an absolute right to refuse” COVID-19 vaccines.

“The stakes are extremely high,” Garner told the Activist Post in a recent interview. “We want to go to the Supreme Court with this,” she said. “Our ultimate outcome is to get a declaratory judgement … saying that the federal law concerning emergency use authorization is superior to any mandate that could be passed in the state.”

“But what’s at stake here are our medical freedoms, our liberties, bodily integrity, our right to choose any sort of medical intervention. This is a critical issue. We are not human guinea pigs, nor should we be treated that way,” she said.

COVID-19 vaccine mandates are a form of “experimenting on humans” and thereby violate the post-World War II Nuremberg Code, Garner said, calling them “a crime against humanity.” “This is a crime against humanity for these organizations, and counties, and now the Department of Defense, trying to get all of our military vaccinated.”

New Mexico Stands Up!, the public interest group that Garner works with, has filed another lawsuit challenging New Mexico’s “public health emergency” declaration for COVID-19. “We have uncovered enough info, enough evidence to show that the death count has been grossly inflated, that the PCR tests are meaningless, and that … the myth of asymptomatic transmission is completely untrue,” Garner related.

Late last year, Minnesota lawmakers reported that death certificate data showed that the state’s official COVID-19 death count was inflated by around 40%. The legislators pointed to perverse financial incentives for hospitals to misdiagnose patients with coronavirus.

Several studies have found that top COVID-19 testing methods have serious accuracy issues, and have busted the theory that the virus spreads through asymptomatic carriers, throwing doubt on claims that COVID-19 is a continuing “health emergency.”

“The nice thing about this lawsuit, is that if we show that there’s no public health emergency, that also will feed into being able to challenge the emergency use authorization, because the emergency has to exist, and as long as the emergency exists, the emergency use authorization is valid,” Garner said. “Once the emergency is no longer there, then also [COVID-19 vaccines] lose their emergency use authorization status, so we’re looking at that at a national level[.]”

“We have the right to choose what goes into our body,” Garner added. “And so, I say to people, even the COVID disease, yes it does kill people, but it’s not as bad as what we’re seeing with the reactions. And I think that there are going to be far more adverse effects that show up years later, in the form of autoimmune disorders, in the form of increased inflammation types of related diseases,” she said.

“We have to stand our ground. And this is why it’s gotten into this position, is we’ve had too many people capitulate to authority. This is an unbridled, tyrannical expression of authority that I have never seen in my lifetime,” Garner said.

Watchdog’s analysis indicates CDC’s actions resulted in ‘1,600% inflation of current COVID-19 fatality totals’

March 26, 2021 (HeartlandDailyNews) — The nation reached a significant milestone in late February, with media outlets reporting that the number of Americans who have died from COVID-19 passed the 500,000 mark.

Such a death toll is deeply disturbing.  But is it accurate?

recent study in the journal Science, Public Health Policy, and the Law published by the Institute for Pure and Applied Knowledge/Public Health Initiative raises intriguing questions.  The study, “COVID-19 Data Collection, Comorbidity & the Law,” concludes that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) unilaterally altered the 17-year-old process by which it calculated disease-caused fatalities, creating a special procedure for tabulating COVID-19 deaths.  This, the study says, enabled the CDC to produce inaccurate data which were widely disseminated by the media and served to justify a host of coercive measures to stem the spread of the disease.

“As a result of these changes, we allege the CDC compromised the quality, objectivity, and integrity of all COVID-19 data collected to date,” the authors write.

Puzzled by the CDC’s actions, the study’s authors ask three questions:

  • “Why would the CDC decide against the use of a system of data collection & reporting it authored, and which has been in use nationwide for 17 years without incident, in favor of an untested & unproven system exclusively for COVID-19 without discussion and peer-review?
  • “Did the CDC’s decision to abandon a known and proven system also breach several federal laws that ensure data accuracy and integrity?
  • “Did the CDC knowingly alter rules for reporting the cause of death in the presence of comorbidity exclusively for COVID-19? If so, why?”

The 25-page peer-reviewed study claims the CDC willfully violated several federal statutes, including the Data Quality Act, Paperwork Reduction Act, and the Administrative Procedures Act.

“Capricious Alteration to Data Collection”

“The CDC published guidelines on March 24, 2020, that substantially altered how death is recorded exclusively for COVID-19,” the study notes.  “This change was enacted apparently without public opportunity for comment or peer-review.  As a result, a capricious alteration to data collection has compromised the accuracy, quality, objectivity, utility, and integrity of their published data, leading to a significant increase in COVID-19 fatalities.”

Specifically, in a March 24, 2020 NVSS COVID-19 Alert, the CDC instructed coroners, medical examiners, and physicians to de-emphasize underlying causes of death, also referred to as preexisting conditions or comorbidities, by recording them in Part II rather than Part I of death certificates, the study explains.

“It’s worth noting that Part I of a death certificate is the immediate cause of death listed in sequential order from the official cause on line item (a) to the underlying causes that contributed to death in descending order of importance on line item (d), while Part II is/are the significant conditions NOT relating to the underlying cause(s) in Part I,” the study points out.

CDC’s action constituted a major rule change on reporting deaths from the agency’s 2003 Coroners’ Handbook on Death Registration and Fetal Death Reporting and Physicians’ Handbook on Medical Certification of Death, which had instructed medical professionals nationwide to list underlying conditions of death in Part I for the previous 17 years.

By law, the study notes, the CDC was required to submit such a change as a proposal to the Federal Register for public comment, which the CDC failed to do.

Moreover, on April 14, 2020, the CDC adopted a position paper that, according to the study, “dramatically altered what defines a new case exclusively for COVID-19.” The paper was authored by the Council of State and Tribal Epidemiologists (CSTE), a 501 (c)(6) non-profit organization, with the assistance of four CDC-employed subject matter experts and sanctioned by CDC Director Dr. Robert R. Redfield.  Not only does this appear to be a potential conflict of interest, the study points out, it also bypasses the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) oversight responsibilities under the Information Quality Act and Paperwork Reduction Act.  The arrangement between CDC and CSTE also contains ex parte communication which the study says are “in general violation of ethical standards.”

Published Data and Public Policy

Aside from the legal issues involved, the study suggests that the CDC’s manipulation of statistics resulted in significant inflation of reported COVID-19 fatalities, as well as the imposition of economically destructive public policies.

“As a result of state policies based on potentially compromised data published and promoted by the CDC, Americans have lost jobs and businesses in historically unprecedented numbers,” the authors conclude. “Federal agencies have the legal obligation to provide the most accurate data to the public, fellow agencies, and policymakers they are advising, and they have a responsibility to abide by every federal law … It is concerning that the CDC may have willfully failed to collect, analyze, and publish accurate data used by elected officials to develop public health policy for a nation in crisis.”

The CDC’s actions “resulted in a 1,600% inflation of current COVID-19 fatality totals,” according to an analysis of the study by the watchdog group All Concerned Citizens, which was provided to National File.

“If this analysis is correct, the CDC is guilty of gross malfeasance causing devastating losses to millions, in violation of settled federal law,” said Jane Orient, M.D, executive director of the American Association of Surgeons and Physicians and policy advisor to The Heartland Institute, which co-publishes Health Care News. “How can they be held accountable?  What kind of relief is obtainable?”

“When I conduct statistical analysis and develop models, it is of utmost importance to have the most accurate data possible,” said Kevin Dayaratna, principal statistician, data scientist, and research fellow at the Heritage Foundation’s Institute for Economic Freedom. “Regarding this pandemic, I’ve gone by the data that are available.  Incomplete data, however, can lead to incorrect statements and inferences; for example, as we noted in a recent study, case-fatality rates may be much lower than we actually observe due to incomplete COVID-19 data.”

March 26, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — In this week’s episode, Pamela Acker joins the Ladies of LifeSite to discuss aborted fetal cells in vaccines and what people of conscience can do.

Pamela Acker is an expert on the use of aborted fetal cells in vaccines and in vaccine development testing. Acker recently wrote the book Vaccination: A Catholic Perspective, which is available here. (Or sign up for The Ladies of LifeSite email list for a chance to win a FREE copy!)

Listen here:

Acker started her PhD in biology at the Catholic University of America with a passion for finding an alternative to the use of aborted fetal cells in vaccines and vaccine testing. Sadly, not long after she began her research, her lab asked her to begin using aborted fetal cells in her research, as all of the protocols researched used these HEK293 cells. She refused and suspended pursuing her PhD.

Acker joins Rebekah, Madeleine, and Clare to share her story and to help expose the use of aborted fetal cells in vaccines and other products. On today’s episode, Acker tells listeners that although there are two common aborted fetal cell lines used in research, there are numerous others.

“Even if it was only two abortions, it would still be wrong,” Acker says, “One abortion is one grave reason to consider not using these vaccines and one grave reason is all we need.”

Acker and the, Ladies discuss the moral and biological implications of getting vaccines that contain aborted fetal cells, such as the Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccines and the Chickenpox vaccine.

You don’t want to miss this fact-filled episode of The Ladies of LifeSite. If you’re pro-life, but aren’t well versed in the use of aborted fetal cells in vaccines, this is an easy introduction to the topic. Acker’s passion is contagious!

LEXINGTON, Kentucky, March 26, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — Pro-homosexual Bishop John Stowe is breaking with his fellow U.S. bishops by publicly supporting the Equality Act. The bill would effectively criminalize Christianity by overriding conscience objections to practices such as performing abortions and transgender surgeries, and denying placement of foster children with same-sex couples.

“As a Catholic bishop, I hate to see any form of harmful discrimination protected by law and it is consistent with our teaching to ensure that LGBTQ people have the protection they need,” the bishop of Lexington, Kentucky, wrote in a March 19 letter to Sens. Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA), America reported.

Stowe, who has been criticized for publicly opposing Catholic teaching on homosexuality, continued, “It is deplorable that, while LGBTQ persons contribute to our society in many ways, they can be denied basic protections in housing, employment, and in many other areas of life.”

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), by contrast, has strongly opposed the Equality Act on the grounds that it would “discriminate against people of faith” and “inflict numerous legal and social harms on Americans of any faith or none.”

In a February letter issued in opposition to the Equality Act, the USCCB wrote that if the legislation was passed, it would “punish faith-based charities such as shelters and foster care agencies, and in turn their thousands of beneficiaries, simply because of their beliefs on marriage and sexuality.”

Homeless shelters, for example, would be forced to have women share facilities with men claiming to be women. Foster care agencies would be punished for insisting that children are placed with a foster mother and father couple, as opposed to same-sex couples.

The bill doesn’t stop there. As the U.S. bishops also point out, the legislation would “risk mandating taxpayers to pay for abortions, and health care workers with conscience objections to perform them, ultimately ending more human lives.”

The bill forbids discrimination based on “sex,” which as the U.S. bishops note, is defined by the Equality Act to include “pregnancy, childbirth, or a related medical condition.”

When EWTN White House correspondent Owen Jensen asked White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki what Biden thinks about concerns that the Equality Act “would force doctors to perform abortions even if it violates their conscience,” “Psaki simply responded that Biden is a ‘long supporter of Roe v. Wade,’” Catholic Vote reported.

Stowe told America that “it’s a difficult thing to take a stance against what the U.S.C.C.B. published,” and he “cannot condone any expansion in abortion access or threats to the sanctity of life.” He nevertheless insisted, “I do not believe that the Equality Act would compromise our beliefs on this matter.”

“I wish we could influence the writing of the law in ways that would better protect everybody’s interest,” he said. “In this circumstance, I do believe that the provision of equal justice under law is more important,” Stowe continued.

Even though Stowe seems to value “equal justice under law” higher than preventing the killing of countless unborn human beings every year, the Catechism of the Catholic Church is clear: “Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law.”

Before the 2020 election, Stowe had said both abortion and the environment are “critical issues.” He then went on to say, “I think an argument could be made that … creation is the preeminent issue, because without the environment to sustain human life, you can’t have human life.”

The Catechism, on the other hand, states, “The inalienable right to life of every innocent human individual is a constitutive element of a civil society and its legislation.”

In July of last year, Bishop Stowe had discredited President Trump as not really being pro-life.

“For this President to call himself pro-life, and for anybody to back him because of claims of being pro-life, is almost willful ignorance,” he said. “He is so much anti-life because he is only concerned about himself, and he gives us every, every, every indication of that.”

“Yes, we have to be concerned for the unborn children,” the bishop said at the time. “It’s foundational for us, but it’s all connected,” and “our understanding of pro-life has to be the vision that was described as the seamless garment vision.”

The term “seamless garment” refers to a theory first spelled out by the late Cardinal Joseph Bernardin. According to that theory, intrinsic evils like abortion are essentially morally equivalent to societal ills like poverty.

Stowe also has a history of supporting the homosexual lifestyle, in defiance of Church teaching. In 2017, he spoke at a homosexual activist conference put on by New Ways Ministry, which has been condemned by the Vatican. The “Catholic” group describes itself as a “gay-positive ministry of advocacy and justice for lesbian and gay Catholics,” and advocates for same-sex "marriage” and the acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle.

Stowe also filmed an LGBT “Pride Month” video in 2020, and is one of five bishops who endorsed pro-gay Fr. James Martin, S.J.’s book, “Building a Bridge.”

NEW JERSEY, March 26, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – A Catholic group located in the diocese of New Jersey is trying to shut down the student-run radio station at Seton Hall University—a private Catholic school—after a recent investigation revealed that it has a long history of broadcasting blasphemous and openly satanic heavy-metal music.

Shut Down WSOU has been working tirelessly for months to put an end to the station and its broadcasting of moral pollution in the wake of an investigation in August of 2020 by the Lepanto Institute.

Image

In his investigation, Michael Hichborn found that the radio station airs “bands and songs that are blasphemous, openly satanic, promote sacrilege, promote the murder and mutilation of women and children, and the slaughter of Christians.” A page on Shut Down WSOU’s website also contains evidence [WARNING: link leads to disturbing material] of the filth spewing out from the radio station.

Beginning in September of last year up until a few months ago, the group publicly and peacefully prayed the rosary every Tuesday, both in front of the station and the university campus. One of the organizers of Shut Down WSOU, Maria Woltornist, told LifeSite that her group has “begged, pleaded, petitioned, and prayed on our knees regularly for this evil to be shut down at this so-called Catholic university, Seton Hall, but to no avail."

The station was founded at Seton Hall University, an official school of the diocese, just over three decades ago. It has withstood two bans and multiple internal reviews by the university over the years. The current archdiocesan leadership of Cardinal Joseph Tobin, who is the chair of both the Board of Regents and the Board of Trustees at Seton Hall, has done nothing to stop Satanism and blasphemy from being spread by the radio station.

The university also operates a seminary, independent from the rest of the school, but still situated in the same area. Woltornist and her group find it hypocritical that Seton Hall professes Catholicism on the one hand and yet continues to operate a public radio station that regularly promotes material contrary to the faith.

“You cannot have a Satanic radio station and think your seminary is highly regarded. The two cannot exist together in peace,” she said.

Woltornist is convinced that the Cardinal could intervene in a meaningful way.

"Cardinal Tobin is at the top and can shut it down,” she said, adding that her group is praying for him and those involved in the matter to “do the right thing.”

She related how Shut Down WSOU has reached out multiple times to the offices of Cardinal Tobin, Joseph Nyre, the president of the university, Mark Maben, the general manager at WSOU, and others with their concerns, but to no avail.

This coming Tuesday, March 30, the group is planning to return once again to their weekly peaceful, public demonstrations with the help of the rosary rally crusaders at Tradition, Family, and Property. The rally is set to begin at 1:00 PM at South Orange Avenue & Centre Street, South Orange, NJ, 07079.

Woltornist hopes that those with the power to make change will see the need for swift action to be taken. She said that Cardinal Tobin “needs to realize that his spiritual children are playing with matches in a basement concerning this Satanic radio station: One spark with paper around, and the whole house comes burning down.”

“We pray people join us in this battle against evil to save souls," she said.

In some years, flu vaccines are only 30 percent effective.

March 26, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — American biotechnology company Moderna, developer of one of the country’s two mRNA experimental vaccines for COVID-19, has announced plans to create a hybrid vaccine that will target both COVID and influenza, again using its new mRNA technology.

Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel made the announcement during The Wall Street Journal’s Health Forum, where he said the efficacy of flu vaccines would be aided by being developed with mRNA technology and could be on the market in just a couple of years. The dual vaccine would be required to go through the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) standard approval procedures before being authorized for use, contrasting with the “emergency use authorization” granted to its mRNA COVID-19 jab in December 2020, a week after Pfizer had their equivalent shot approved.

Bancel suggested that the dual vaccine will help immunize people from both COVID and the flu. It would be necessary, he anticipated, to guard against both on an annual basis. The Moderna executive predicted that “more concerning mutations of the new coronavirus” will begin emerging over the next six months and that — both influenza and COVID-19 being respiratory-related illnesses — the vaccines might be packaged together quickly.

Moderna is reportedly working to overcome obstacles presented by the apparent mutation of the coronavirus, developing a modified version of their current mRNA therapy which will target more contagious forms of the virus and be useful against more than one strain at a time, the Wall Street Journal wrote. Additionally, the gene technology firm is reportedly developing five mRNA-based vaccines for different cancers.

Flu vaccines fluctuate in their effectiveness from one year to another, with some as low as 30 percent effective, up to a maximum of around 60 percent. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), flu vaccines created for the 2019–2020 season had a roughly 45 percent efficacy against the viral infection, meaning that recipients of the shot were still statistically more likely than not to contract the illness, despite their inoculation.

“Today the vaccines we have for seasonal flu are OK in a great year and they are pretty bad in a bad year, in terms of efficacy,” Bancel noted. “It is not impossible that in a couple of years we should have the product I just talked about — a high efficacy seasonal flu vaccine and a COVID vaccine –– for you at your pharmacy on an annual basis.”

Although headlines the world over touted both Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech’s mRNA jabs as having an efficacy greater than 90 percent, and the CDC reported Moderna’s specifically as 94.1 percent effective in a laboratory trial setting, the data garnered from clinical trials admits of some important lacunae. This, in turn, could mean that Bancel’s optimism on the effectiveness of mRNA-developed flu vaccines is misplaced.

In medical parlance, “efficacy” is a term used to denote results obtained from controlled conditions, such as those found in clinical trials. “Effectiveness,” on the other hand, regarding vaccine use, refers to the results observed from real-world use, outside of the lab, after the vaccine has been rolled out.

With this in mind, the CDC’s 94.1 percent figure may not be what is achieved in widespread, real-world use. Notably, the trials for Moderna’s COVID shot tested only for the virus on those who expressed symptoms, leaving asymptomatic trial participants uncounted, thus rendering the overall “effectiveness” of the vaccine unknowable.

Not only is there doubt over the effectiveness of the jab to combat the spread of COVID-19, but questions still remain about the necessity thereof.

As early as November 2020, Dr. Mike Yeadon, the former Vice President and Chief Scientist at Pfizer (which also manufactures an mRNA COVID shot), flatly rejected any need to vaccinate the population against COVID-19.

Writing for Britain’s Lockdown Sceptics, Yeadon said there was “absolutely no need for vaccines to extinguish the pandemic … you do not vaccinate people who aren’t at risk from a disease.” “You also don’t set about planning to vaccinate millions of fit and healthy people with a vaccine that hasn’t been extensively tested on humans,” he said.

In fact, mounting evidence suggests that Moderna’s mRNA therapy is responsible for seriously injuring vast numbers of people who have taken the jab in the hope of avoiding illness from COVID-19. The CDC’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), which collates self-assessed reports from individuals who record side-effects after getting a vaccine, displays some 16,749 reports of injury following use of Moderna’s vaccine.

The latest data on the system, taken from December 14, 2020, up to March 11, 2021, shows 834 deaths have been recorded, accounting for almost 5 percent of total reports. A further 338 recordings of serious disabilities were submitted after taking the Moderna jab and 1,890 hospitalizations.

Democrats look to institutionalize ‘internet censorship’ under guise of ‘net neutrality’

In short, today’s net neutrality is not about helping gamers and video consumers get more bandwidth. It is not about equality. Rather, it is about institutionalizing Internet censorship, forcing everyone who disseminates or transmits content to abide by infamous fact-checker rules as leftists determine them.

March 26, 2021 (AmericanThinker) — In 2019, Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) stood with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) to launch their radical Green New Deal that would flip America’s economic system into a resemblance of the World Economic Forum’s “Great Reset.” In terms of high-tech industry lingo, “disruptive” would be the right adjective to use.

The Verge reports that Markey is now on a track to introduce new legislation that would re-implement net neutrality that “would engrave the no throttling, block, or paid fast lanes rules into law.”

Should Markey’s new bill fail, his plan B is to stack the FCC with enough Democrats to take matters into their own hands. He explained to The Verge that “Once we have three Democrats in place at the Federal Communications Commission, I will strongly urge it to reverse the Trump FCC wrongheaded decision and restore net neutrality and the FCC’s authority over broadband.”

Net Neutrality as a political issue was originally introduced by then-Senator Barack Hussein Obama. On October 29, 2007, Obama stated,

“I am a strong supporter of net neutrality … What you’ve been seeing is some lobbying that says that the servers and the various portals through which you’re getting information over the Internet should be able to be gatekeepers and to charge different rates to different Web sites … And that I think destroys one of the best things about the Internet—which is that there is this incredible equality there."

The keyword to note here is government-mandated “equality.”

The radical left organization, Common Dreams is joining the call for net neutrality. It claims “nearly 80 million people in the U.S. still do not have adequate broadband at home-with poor families and people of color disproportionately disconnected.” There is no proof offered for these vague statistics.

By the way, the person who originally coined the term “net neutrality” in 2003 was Columbia Law Professor Tim Wu. He recently joined the Biden White House staff as a top advisor on technology and competition issues. His appointment was hailed as a win for progressives. In 2018, Wu preview authored “The Curse of Bigness: Antitrust in the New Gilded Age.”

One recent article, from Reuters, detailing his new position stated:

“Congressional Democrats have already begun talks with the White House on ways to crack down on tech companies, including making them responsible for disinformation and addressing their market power.”

Previous discussions about net neutrality have always been contentious and full of disinformation. Free market forces, subject to all the currently standing anti-trust and anti-competition laws, are sufficient to sort out problems of content delivery to consumers, if only those laws would be enforced.

It appears that the new administration has other motives in taking control of how ISPs (Internet Service Providers) and content providers run their businesses.

Government control will fix all that. Biden wants to enforce and accelerate the already rampant censorship being practiced by Big Tech today. Remember the phrase above, “including making them responsible for disinformation.”

With the First Amendment and free speech already under fire and with so-called “fact checkers” constantly determining what is disinformation and what is not, the Biden administration is ramping up to take direct control of both content suppliers as well as ISPs, with penalties applied to the non-compliant.

This battle for control has been brewing for a long time. Engadget reported that from 2003 onward, the concept of net neutrality “terrified those who were concerned about government regulation” and that “the back-and-forth between those camps will likely continue for years.“

Tim Wu’s 2005 paper, “Network Neutrality, Broadband Discrimination” did not mention a single word about content management, disinformation or fake news. The inclusions of these terms into current proposals for net neutrality is new and considering that it is coming from the radical left should make everyone shiver.

In short, today’s net neutrality is not about helping gamers and video consumers get more bandwidth. It is not about equality. Rather, it is about institutionalizing Internet censorship, forcing everyone who disseminates or transmits content to abide by infamous fact-checker rules as leftists determine them.

Let me make it very clear: If your blog or journal publishes something that the government declares is false, you are going to be punished for it.

Welcome to Orwell’s Ministry of Truth. If Americans don’t repel these assaults on the First Amendment, the rest of the Constitution will fall like dominoes.

Be assured that Big Media will soon spin up a fresh news cycle on “Progressive style” net neutrality; just don’t believe everything that you read.

Canadian opioid deaths skyrocket in wake of COVID-19 lockdown measures

More people died from opioid overdoses in the province of British Columbia in 2020 than from COVID since the pandemic began

CANADA, March 26, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – Opioid overdose deaths skyrocketed 120% across Canada in the third quarter of 2020 compared to 2019, making it the highest quarterly opioid death count since national surveillance began in 2016.

According to the figures from Health Canada updated this month, 1,705 people died from opioid overdose between July and September last year compared to 776 in the same three-month frame a year earlier.

In the six months immediately following implementation of COVID-19 ‘social distancing’ and lockdown measures by health authorities, opioid overdose deaths soared 74% across the country. Between April and September of last year, 3,351 people died opioid overdose deaths – up from 1,923 in the six months prior.

In what is being called a “shadow pandemic” that has been ignored by mainstream media in favor of non-stop COVID coverage, the number of deaths and hospitalizations from opioid drug abuse are actually higher than deaths and hospitalizations from coronavirus in some regions in Canada.

More deaths than COVID

The province of British Columbia Coroners Service reported in December that 1,548 British Columbians had died of opioid toxicity in 2020, with a full month left in the year to report, compared to 983 deaths the year before.

To date, the government has recorded 1,446 COVID deaths in British Columbia. Opioid deaths are likely to outstrip coronavirus deaths by hundreds in the province when the opioid data catches up.

The same is true in some Canadian cities. Public health officials in the central Ontario city of Peterborough met last week to deal with their opioid crisis, saying hospitalizations for opioid-related abuse had nearly doubled in the city between 2019  and 2020 – from 81 to 151 per 100,000 people. Deaths from the drugs climbed to 39 in 2020 compared to 29 the year before with 13 suspected deaths in just the first quarter of 2021, according to a Global News report.

By contrast, 10 people were recorded to have died from COVID in Peterborough from the beginning of the pandemic to date, according to the city’s local Covid Tracker.  The total number of patients hospitalized with the coronavirus since last year is 29 since the pandemic began and four patients have been admitted to an Intensive Care Unit for coronavirus treatment in the past year.

Most of the opioid death victims were between 19 and 40 years of age. Peterborough public health “report details” do not provide ages of last year’s 10 COVID victims.

Record numbers

Hospitalization for opioid poisoning between July and September 2020 across Canada increased by 23% from the same period in 2019 with patients remaining in hospital three days on average.

Emergency services were called out 86% more often during the six months following the implementation of COVID-19 prevention measures; they responded to 16,200 suspected opioid-related overdoses up from 8,689 in six months prior.

Ontario recorded 2,167 opioid-related deaths from January to November last year – a nearly 60-percent increase over the same period in 2019, according to a report from the Office of the Chief Coroner.

On one particular day in January (Friday, the 29th), Toronto emergency services responded to 40 suspected opioid overdose calls, including three deaths, the highest call number to date.

The province of Alberta recorded 1,128 deaths from opioid overdose last year, up from 623 deaths in 2019 and well above the 2018 record of 806. There were 1,976 deaths from COVID in the province to date since the pandemic began, making it feasible that deaths from overdose will outstrip deaths from COVID by the end of 2021.

‘Isolation, stress, unemployment’

“A number of factors have likely contributed to a worsening of the overdose crisis, including the increasingly toxic drug supply, increased feelings of isolation, stress and anxiety and limited availability or accessibility of services for people who use drugs,” according to the Health Canada report.

“The pandemic has been a nightmare scenario for people struggling with or at risk for substance abuse disorders,” Marissa King, of Yale’s School of Management, who researches opioid addiction and the “functions of social networks” wrote in Yale Insights this week. “Social isolation, stress and unemployment – all known factors for use and relapse –have been rampant.”

Upward trends of drug abuse are expected to have continued in the United States too, where the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported a 20% increase in fatal opioid overdoses – the largest increase on record – between March and May 2020.

A study published in JAMA Psychiatry in February analyzed nearly 190 million emergency department (ED) visits and reported 45% higher rates of visits to EDs for opioid overdoses during the months of March to October 2020 when compared against the same dates in 2019.

“People die from opioids when they use alone,” Peter Canning, a paramedic on the front lines of Connecticut’s battle against opioids told ABC news. “In this last year, the number of deaths has risen fairly dramatically.”

“We went from a bad and dangerous situation to a worse situation," said Trevor Henderson with the Metro Health Department Nashville, TN where opioid overdose is reported to have risen 32 percent recently.

“There is no vaccination for addiction, so this issue is going to be with us for a while. This issue is going to claim more lives for the next several years. So, yeah, we do need to get back to paying more attention to this," said Henderson.

Mexico’s president blames Biden for migrant crisis at the border

MEXICO CITY, Mexico, March 26, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — The president of Mexico has blamed the migrant crisis currently affecting the southern border of the United States on President Joe Biden and his administration.

“Expectations were created that with the Government of President Biden there would be better treatment of migrants,” said Mexican President Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador during a press conference Tuesday. “And this has caused Central American migrants, and also from our country, wanting to cross the border thinking that it is easier to do so.”

Obrador cautioned that while “Biden’s immigration policy is very good,” it will take some “time” to implement.

“Well, it is a process, because there are also many human traffickers, ‘coyotes,’ who encourage people to say: ‘Now it is easier to get to the United States, let’s go,’ and it is not like that; above all, there are risks unfortunately from violence. So, we have to protect and that is what we are carrying out,” said Obrador.

The explosion of people flooding the border between Mexico and the U.S. began shortly after Biden took office, notably after he stopped former former President Donald Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy, which makes migrants return to Mexico while their refugee/asylum claims are administered.

Biden also stopped the construction of the border wall, which was one of Trump’s main projects, and put a 100-day moratorium on deportations.

Recently, the crisis has exploded with reports of thousands of migrants, most from Central America, going hungry and cold while being detained in “camps” set up by U.S. border officials.

The Biden administration has blamed Trump for the current crisis, and recently tasked Vice President Kamala Harris to tackle the migrant crisis facing the southern border.

“We are rebuilding the orderly systems that the Trump administration tore down to avoid the need for these children to actually take the perilous journey,” said Alejandro Mayorkas with the Department of Homeland Security.

Obrador stressed the severity of the border crisis, which he noted has been an issue for decades for both Mexico and the U.S. He also pointed out that Trump “respected” Mexico’s sovereignty and that he worked well with his administration. The Mexican president said bluntly that migrants “don’t go to the United States for fun, they go out of necessity.”

Obrador also said he is not in favor of any U.S. meddling in Mexico’s affairs, after a recent visit from a Biden envoy to the crisis area along the border.

“We do not accept supervision visits. We are not a colony, we are not a protectorate, Mexico is an independent, sovereign, free country,” said Obrador regarding the “envoy visits.”

In November of 2020, Obrador said Mexico “cannot act recklessly” in congratulating Joe Biden as the “potential” winner of the 2020 U.S. presidential elections until official results were posted.

He was one of the last world leaders to congratulate Biden, doing so only in late December with a letter to congratulate him on his “triumph. Obrador did not attend Biden’s inauguration.

On January 7, Obrador made headlines the world over when he said that he does not like anybody “being censored” on social media in light of Trump’s ban from Twitter and Facebook.

He then pledged to push forward with an international endeavor to fight censorship at the hands of social media giants, who banned Trump from their platforms, along with many other conservative voices.

Media companies bill could create a liberal monopoly on news, crushing conservative outlets

The Journalism Competition and Preservation Act would effectively give Fox News and the Wall Street Journal a monopoly on news that is not hard-left, which means that 'conservative' would be whatever the Murdoch family says it means.

March 26, 2021 (AmericanThinker) — The Journalism Competition and Preservation Act (JPCA) is a bait-and-switch attempt that claims to help conservative news sources but would instead purge them from the marketplace of ideas.  Congress should reject it for the freedom-killer it is.

JCPA would give media companies — broadcast and print — an exemption from federal antitrust laws, so they can operate in a coordinated fashion to negotiate prices that social media companies like Facebook would have to pay them to carry their content.  It would ensure that these tech billionaires would have to direct some of their riches into content providers.

But that's a Big Boys' game, where the major players could decide whom to let into their club.  Smaller outlets would be left out in the cold, and the market would suffer.

This is because almost all of the Big Boys are liberal.  For print, there are the New York Times and the Washington Post.  For video content providers, you have the networks, CNN, and MSNBC.  The twin star performers owned by News Corp — Fox News Channel and the Wall Street Journal — are some of the only ones to the right of the 50-yard line.

The bill's supporters say it would help small, conservative outlets like the one you're reading now.  No chance.  I talk almost daily with friends on Capitol Hill, and I heard from them the names of a couple of hard-charging right-wing outlets who were supposed to be the beneficiaries of this legislation.  But then I talked with the CEO of one of those companies and found out that no one had approached him on this bill before it was rolled out.  (For that matter, he opposes it.)

Aside from having done thousands of interviews over the past half-century, I used to be part owner of some radio stations and know how the media industry works.  The reality is this: media companies prefer cartels and monopolies, just like many other businesses.

This provides them a chance to have one without the lean and hungry conservative happy warriors.  Offer a bill with the sales pitch that it will protect those citizen-journalists, then have the big dogs circle the wagons on terms that the social giants must meet for huge corporations, and then keep those citizen-journalists outside the circle.

That's what this is — a classic bait and switch.  News Corp would be fine under the JCPA and with it all of that company's conservative voices.  But there are as many moderates at Fox News and the Wall Street Journal as there are conservatives and more than a few liberals.  Facebook couldn't turn those outlets away, but that company might be the only right-of-center media company at that level.  It would effectively give Fox and the Journal a monopoly on news that is not hard-left, which means that "conservative" would be whatever the Murdoch family says it means.  People who get all their news from social media — and there's an increasingly high number of those — would never hear voices like the ones they are accustomed to reading at this outlet.

So JCPA would allow the liberal big media company to have a cartel with only one non-liberal company.  All the plucky, intrepid conservative outlets could form their own cartel, but it would make up such a small slice of the media pie that social media could ignore them altogether.

If Facebook has to negotiate on a rate to carry news from outlets that are stridently conservative, it would just let the conservative outlets name a price — any price — agree to that price per piece, then rarely or never take any of their pieces.  In theory, everything is okay because they have an agreement, but the Big Tech titans would just never pick up any content under the agreement.

The Trump witch hunt will swiftly lead to disaster for America

Bad Orange Man must go, the country, our kids’ and grandkids’ futures be damned. Sadly, the 74 million American voters who didn’t cast ballots for these awful people and policies will pay the price for the vapidity of Americans filled with enough hate and ignorance to elect this garbage.

March 26, 2021, (AmericanThinker) — At less than 100 days in, Trump-haters have imposed growing disasters on the country. Trump-hating voters cared about one thing and it wasn’t the success of Operation Warp Speed, a strong economy, or peace in the Mideast. Bad Orange Man must go, the country, our kids’ and grandkids’ futures be damned. And we reap what we sow.

The 46th President of the United States Joseph Robinette Biden began by signing an unprecedented number of executive orders designed to bypass the legislative process (including job killers and open borders). He signed the hyper-partisan “Covid relief package” proving that he has no interest in unifying the country. He actually boxed out Republican voices in the negotiation process resulting in a true moderate, Susan Collins, wondering why Biden “would want to alienate” Republicans willing to work with him. In between we’ve barely seen the president while he hides behind Harris and Dr. Jill.

Trump-haters ignored Biden’s senility and Harris’s record as the most progressive member of the Senate (who was so disliked by Democrat voters that she didn’t even make it to the Iowa caucuses). Now we learn the White House has directed agencies to refer to the “Biden-Harris administration” in official documents. Harris has been making calls to world leaders on behalf of the administration and participating in all meetings. The stage is being set for Biden to predictably step down and rest (the White House called a lid on Biden’s day at 1:13pm on Monday).

Under the auspices of never letting a crisis go to waste, the Democrats’ $1.9 trillion dollar “Covid” boondoggle (on top of the $4 trillion previously thrown at the pandemic) benefits special-interest groups, applies just 9% of the funds towards fighting Covid, puts the country further in debt, funds teachers’ unions that still refuse to get back to work, and wastes vast sums that will have to be paid back through massive tax-hikes on constituents Biden promised would never see tax hikes (reminiscent of Obama’s infamous lie that if you liked your doctor and health insurance, you could keep them).

If the Biden administration truly cared about getting people back to work, the last thing it would have done was shut down the Keystone Pipeline, with John Kerry condescendingly telling the 10,000 workers who lost their jobs that they could produce solar panels (that are actually mostly produced in China), attempt to force a $15 minimum wage on the entire country, and kill the welfare-to-work requirement passed under Clinton, a genuine moderate president.

And the Democrats’ spending spree has just begun. Next up is a massive $3 trillion infrastructure bill intended to reduce carbon emissions and narrow “economic inequality” (notwithstanding that the Trump economy drove minority unemployment to its lowest and minority wages to their highest). The Green New Deal is estimated to cost between $50-90 trillion.

Biden has stated his support of studying slavery reparations that would cost $1.4 trillion reiterating he’s committed to addressing “systemic racism that persists today” -- one of the biggest lies the left perpetuates in order to maintain power and bleed the last drop of capital from “the wealthy.”  Democrats are also beginning hearings on 18 bills that will eventually lead to single-payer healthcare.

Democrats must know that taxing the “rich” will never produce enough money to pay for their progressive plans; they’ll do so anyway. They realize corporations will move offshore while the wealthy find tax havens, unemployment will rise, and welfare dependency will grow. That’s the plan – use Covid, TDS, race-baiting, cancel culture, and global warming as smokescreens for grabbing power.

Ironically, the one place at which the Democrats refuse to see a crisis is our Southern border.  It’s not even caravan season and yet migrants share that they’re flocking in precisely because Biden told them to come. Liberal Chuck Todd is questioning whether Biden has put a gag order on media reporting from the border, while Democrats perpetuate the myth that the reversal of Trump’s effective policies was humane. And as they spend $86 million on hotel rooms to house illegals, Democrats see future voters and couldn’t care a less about the terrorists, drug runners, cartel members, gang bangers, human traffickers, and convicted sexual predators infiltrating our country, nor that open borders and free stuff for all are unsustainable.

The filibuster is, unsurprisingly, facing cancellation (supported by Biden) and while McConnell has warned that would lead to a “scorched-Earth Senate,” Democrats only see power. DC statehood is now being debated, but the scariest bill in the works is HR-1, Democrats’ “voting rights” bill that would nationalize elections while institutionalizing fraud.  HR-1 is arguably the most dangerous piece of legislation proposed in Congress in our lifetimes, overriding state laws intended to protect election integrity. Yet Democrats are using their favorite term – systemic racism – as a justification to ram it through.

After Democrats nationalize voter fraud, they’ll likely turn to education. Blue states are imposing on students ethnic studies and critical race theory curricula that teach that white people, the Founders, police officers, and anyone who doesn’t agree with them are racists. One of Biden’s first EOs dissolved Trump’s 1776 Commission, established to promote patriotism and counter the anti-American 1619 Project that teaches that America is “irredeemably and systemically racist.” Toddlers are being taught social justice aimed at “dismant[ling] bias for kids as young as two.”

Biden’s executive order on transgenders in sports was a power-grab that harms female athletes at the expense of 0.4% of the country’s population that identifies as transgender. Couple that with the Equality Act that passed the House with only three Republican votes and say goodbye to women’s sports, bathrooms, locker rooms, and safety and privacy more generally.

In addition to racism, Democrats are obsessed with climate change and want to destroy our nation’s energy independence by outlawing gasoline-powered vehicles, fracking, and nuclear energy. Energy prices would skyrocket while inefficient alternative sources would result in power outages becoming common place as we’ve seen in California and Texas. Those who don’t abide would be cancelled as “climate deniers.”

Speaking of cancel culture, the silencing of Trump and conservatives by social media authoritarians is cheered on by Democrats. Aunt Jemima, Pepe LePew, Mr. Potato Head, Mark Twain, Dr. Seuss, and American history have all been on the chopping block. Statues representing our astonishing history are torn down and schools with names like Washington, Lincoln, and Jefferson are renamed. Careers are being destroyed and free speech is under attack as liberals run roughshod over ideas they don’t like.

On foreign policy, Biden has an even more Iran-friendly government than did Obama.  While he reunited the Obama pro-Iran team consisting of Blinken, Sullivan, Rice, Power, Kerry, Sherman, and Malley, he’s added many Israel-haters also enamored of the Mullahs who seek Death to Israel and America. Maher BitarReema DodinHady AmrColin KahlUzra ZeyaKristin ClarkeAvril Haines, and others have all been appointed to high-level and influential positions in an administration even more hell-bent on handing Iran nuclear weapons than Obama’s. And just as Obama ignored Iran’s attempt to blow-up a DC restaurant in order to murder the Saudi ambassador, Biden is apparently ignoring Iran’s plans to blow-up a DC army base and murder a U.S. general.

Amr, who was “inspired by the Palestinian intifada,” is responsible for Biden’s position paper on resetting relations with the Palestinians. The plan begins with funneling billions of dollars to Palestinians who, according to a State Department report, in 2019 spent $151 million on pay-to-slay programs and $191 million on Palestinian “martyrs.” Biden is apparently undeterred by U.S. law that prohibits aid to the Palestinians until they stop paying terrorists.

Biden’s plan also returns the Democrats’ obsession with the “two-state solution” to the front burner while gutting Trump policy that proved Kerry’s ignorance when he proclaimed that Mideast peace wasn’t possible without the Palestinians. However, Trump’s Abraham Accords that resulted in four Arab countries signing normalization agreements with Israel are now on the line. Lee Smith explained:

The alliance between Israel and the Gulf states is an impediment to the dream of a reempowered, nuclear-armed Iran backed by the United States, which was Obama’s main foreign policy aim—and an affront to peace processors convinced of their own never-ending importance. The Biden administration apparently aims to sink the accords by penalizing Israel and its peace partners for getting too close, and returning the Palestinians to center stage—in order to prepare the ground for reentering the Iran deal.”

China just publicly bitch-slapped Blinken while turning the administration’s obsession with non-existent systemic racism into a weapon used against it. Fred Fleitz wrote:

The Alaska press event was a debacle that will build a perception that the US is returning to Jimmy Carter-like incompetence in foreign policy. It also confirms claims by Biden critics that his foreign policy team is headed by inept second and third-string Obama retreads.

And while China is on track to replace the U.S. as the world’s superpower, Democrats wish to gut our military and dumb down our education system lest black kids fall behind. While the Chinese excel in STEM disciplines, Democrats seek “math equity” because focusing on the “right answer” is an example of white supremacy. This cannot end well. Putin is laughing and how long will it be before Kim Jung-Un decides to flex his muscles?

U.S.-Russia relations hit a new Cold-War low recently when Biden gratuitously called Putin a “killer” on national television resulting in Russia recalling its ambassador and Putin describing relations as “very bad.” As Biden alienates Russia and China, the result is a new friendship between our two nemeses with the Russian Foreign Minister cozying up to his Chinese counterpart.

So here we are. Unity? Moderation? Not in a Biden-Harris administration that brags about passing the most “progressive bill in American history.” Not in an administration driven by reversing Trump policy no matter how successful while driven by divisiveness, lies, ideology, and power. But Trump’s gone so we have that going for us.  Sadly, the 74 million American voters who didn’t cast ballots for these awful people and policies will pay the price for the vapidity of Americans filled with enough hate and ignorance to elect this garbage.

Climate change is the perfect tool to justify complete control

March 26, 2021 (AmericanThinker) — COVID was a blessing for the Democrats.  Primarily affecting older people (mostly Trump voters) and the infirm, it allowed the shutdown of most small business in America (again, mostly Trump-supporters).  It permitted millenarian Democrat governors to test the efficacy of using fear to impel acquiescence to emergency rule by diktat.  It showed people will voluntarily cede income and freedom in the face of an "existential emergency."

"Armageddon" ruined Trump-supporters financially, while coincidentally allowing Dem supporters to continue drawing a paycheck or have their fortunes grow.

The COVID social experiment in control was a smashing success.  Yet, with COVID winding down, Democrats need a new apocalypse.

Fortuitously, "climate change" is perfect.  Faux though its existentialism may be, as a crisis with broad support among the elite left and their minions, it is a cataclysm made to order.

Impending climate catastrophe cannot be disproved — hot weather, cold weather, drought, flooding — everything can be portrayed as "proof."  The benefits promised are decades in the future.  So is its inevitable failure.  People will not see the scam until it is too late.

As a scheme for total control, climate change is even better than COVID.

Lockdowns proved that restricting movement and shutting down the economy will drastically reduce the CO2 released into the atmosphere.

Replacing internal combustion–powered automobiles with E.V.s is policy.  Eventually, they will acknowledge the inherent pollution in battery manufacture, the production of the electricity needed to charge the batteries, and eventual battery disposal.  The goal is to eliminate private transportation in its entirety.

In major cities, roadwork now entails reducing on-street parking while narrowing thoroughfares to increase traffic.  This is a prelude to charging a yearly fee for the privilege of city parking.  Several thousand dollars a year should modify behavior and increase revenues.

The implementation of license fees (also several thousand dollars per annum) for car ownership will come to fruition.  Limiting the right to own a car for people who allow their "social credit score" to decline by saying something untoward about government or authorities on social media, or in public, will also be a tactic.

Next will be restricted usage and a fee per mile driven with driving limited to odd and even days for portions of the population.

Social scores will dictate who is allowed to fly on commercial airliners, with ticket prices including a "carbon fee" commensurate to the seat's percentage of the flight's total carbon cost.

In addition to forcing the price of gasoline to $20 a gallon, the "price of all energy will necessarily have to skyrocket" (Barack Obama).  They will triple or quadruple the price of all energy, whether it be electricity, natural gas, or home heating oil.

License fees for air-conditioners and energy rationing will become prevalent.  Consumers will only be allocated a certain amount of electricity per month.  After that, the cost will rise on a per unit "congestion pricing" basis.

Forcing people into cities near their employment through rezoning to eliminate single-family homes, or vastly reducing the size of these homes, will become law.  People will be allotted a certain amount of personal square footage in living space. Should they exceed their allotment, they will be charged accordingly for the damage their selfishness does to Gaia.

Do not forget diet.  Cows produce a lot of methane; they will either need to be eliminated as a source of protein or priced to proscribe the consumption of beef and dairy products.

...and so much more.

None of these rules, regulations, and legislation will eliminate planes, automobiles, meat, large homes, air-conditioning, and heat.  They merely use price to constrain usage and freedom.

As the only ones who can afford it, the elite oligarchy will still have their mansions, cars, central air, heat, and porterhouse steaks.  Control is for little people.

On the upside, roads will be empty for their limousines, and since most of the economy will have been destroyed, it will be easy to find really cheap help to do all the menial things wealth allows the wealthy to pay others to do.

An additional benefit is it will drastically curtail illegal immigration.

You cannot make a utopia omelet without breaking a few deplorables.

A person who is mobile can say, "No!"  They cannot allow that.  After all, everything they do is for our own good, especially the universal income that will replace employment.

Being stuck in tiny apartments in crowded, fetid, and dangerous cities, unarmed and weak from lack of protein, is the future.  It will save the world.

It is not too late to stop this dystopian madness.  Americans can no longer sit idle and allow the destruction of the country we know and love.

We will need to get organized and resist (legally and peacefully) at every juncture and opportunity.  I realize that it is unusual for those on the right to protest, with most having jobs and bad habits like children, food, and shelter.  Who has the time and energy?

Our oligarchic government is conspiring to suppress us. We are fast approaching a point of no return.  Biden fully intends to overthrow America to install a single-party socialist paradise.  The mistake Americans made on January 6 was to be tricked into being the fall guy for a false flag operation.

Civil disobedience is our right, and it is fast becoming the only arrow that remains in our quiver against the quiver of cobras that are the Democrats.

Remember, there are more of us than them.

While we still can, we need to say, "No!"  And we are going to need to force them to listen.

Keeping the faith while investigating clergy sex abuse

Stephen Brady has been courageously fighting the clerical sexual abuse inside the Church for decades.

March 26, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) - For this episode of The John-Henry Westen Show, I speak with Stephen Brady, a veteran researcher and investigativor, who has been courageously fighting clerical sexual abuse inside the Church for decades. He describes that his work uncovered how many in the hierarchy have been silent and even complicit in moral corruption.

In the late 90s, Brady brought to light a secret website used by 55 homosexually active priests including one bishop where they posted photos and engaged in X-rated chat. The one bishop involved, Bishop Reginald Cawcutt an auxiliary in Cape Town South Africa, even had messages on the site which hoped Pope John Paul II would be poisoned. Brady attempted unsuccessfully to bring the contents to the attention of the hierarchy, but no one would listen, so he went public. Even then little was done and he was severely criticized by many clergy.

Brady tells me that what led him to begin this thankless work was seeing that children, including his own, were being taught "pornographic sex education programs" at public schools, even by Catholic teachers. After digging deeper into how the clergy could allow this to happen, he discovered that his own bishop had a "predatory homosexual nature."

Though at first he had confidence that, if given the information, the bishops and hierarchy would solve the abuse problems, Brady "began to find out that the hierarchy was the problem." The investigative reporter was even given orders by the Vatican to remain silent, and "not one American cardinal" which he contacted would listen.

Despite seeing first hand all the damage the Church and the priesthood were experiencing, and the complicity and silence of the hierarchy, Brady's Catholic faith grew even stronger. One of his motivations for his hard work is being a father of seven children, who, he says, taught him to be pro-life. He says that it is unimaginable that some bishops "would sit down and wine and dine some pro-abortion politician that participated in promoting the murder of millions of children."

Brady also discusses former Cardinal Theodore McCarrick and how "the (McCarrick) Report didn't name names as far as the coverup that went on." He talks about some of his investigations which have found that many foreign corporations have entered into "troubling" dealings with bishops and the hierarchy, which he says should lead to RICO lawsuits.

The hard-hitting investigator says that "what is needed to straighten things out within the Catholic hierarchy" is to bring back a true meaning of love within the faith. He states that it demonstrates "lack of love" if homosexuals continue to be given Holy Communion and promoted.

Today, Brady and his organization Roman Catholic Faithful have been steadfastedly fighting the corruption in the hierarchy, and are now faced with a lawsuit from a California priest. RCF operates on a shoestring budget with no salaried employees, and are in need of your help to continue fighting for the Church.

Feminists are halfway to pro-life in validating a woman’s grief after miscarriage

Feminists recognize that when a woman miscarries, she's lost her baby, not simply a 'clump of cells'

March 26, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – Every so often, a prominent person comes forward to share her story of miscarriage and the pain of losing a pre-born child. On July 20, 2019, Meghan McCain shared her grief in a New York Times editorial titled “What I learned from my miscarriage.” (Her husband, Ben Domenech, explored the loss in an extraordinary podcast episode A Year of Dying Gracefully.) The following year, Meghan Markle revealed that she and her husband had suffered the loss of their second child through miscarriage in a New York Times editorial titled “The losses we share.”

Each time this happens, feminists ask why it is that our society is so bad at recognizing the pain people suffer when they lose pre-born children. Commentators and pundits solemnly pretend that we don’t know the very obvious answer to this. If abortion, the destruction of a child in the womb, is a celebrated right, how can we validate the grief of women who lose children at the same stage at which millions are being aborted? If abortion activists are right, a miscarriage is simply a woman passing a clump of cells. If abortion activists are wrong, she has lost a child. Both cannot be true at the same time.

And so the news that New Zealand’s parliament has unanimously passed legislation giving the parents of children who pass away by miscarriage the right to paid leave—a bereavement allowance—is both encouraging news and sadly ironic. The bill was initiated by Labour Party MP Ginny Anderson, who stated that “The passing of this bill shows that once again New Zealand is leading the way for progressive and compassionate legislation, becoming only the second country in the world to provide leave for miscarriage and stillbirth. The bill will give women and their partners time to come to terms with their loss without having to tap into sick leave. Because their grief is not a sickness, it is a loss. And loss takes time."

New Zealand’s Labour government is led by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who raked in progressive accolades last year for scrapping plans to hold a referendum on the decriminalization of abortion and instead removing abortion from the 1961 Crimes Act on a parliamentary vote. Under the new regime, women are able to abort their pre-born children up to twenty weeks with no questions asked, with the approval of a doctor being required to abort a baby after twenty weeks. According to New Zealand’s feminist government, the world works like this: If you choose to grieve your baby, it was a baby, and society grieves with you. If you choose an abortion, it wasn’t a baby, and society applauds you.

People instinctively recognize this schizophrenia, and it was one of the primary reasons our discussions around miscarriage are so stunted. Perhaps we will soon see in New Zealand what we saw recently in the Netherlands. In 2019, the Dutch government changed the law to permit people to officially register their stillborn children as legal persons in response to a petition signed by 82,000 people who wished to see their sons and daughters who died before birth to be recognized as people of value. These children are, once registered, legal persons under the law. What the government did not expect was a woman who deeply regretted her abortion to register her aborted child as a legal person, raising deeply uncomfortable questions.

Perhaps women in New Zealand will now begin taking bereavement leave after having abortions, with the government both championing their feticide and giving them paid time off to mourn their butchered fetus. Or may be we can have a discussion about the elephant in the room when miscarriage is discussed: Abortion.

New Swiss bishop gives Holy Communion to non-Catholics

Bishop Joseph Bonnemain of Chur also sees no problem blessing homosexual relationships.

By Jeanne Smits

March 26, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — The new bishop of Chur, Switzerland, gave Holy Communion to three non-Catholics during his ordination ceremony last Friday, in the presence of Cardinal Kurt Koch, who had just ordained him to the episcopate. The event took place with the implicit assent of the Pope, who handpicked Joseph Bonnemain to take the head of the diocese after the cathedral chapter of Chur, in a highly unusual show of resistance, had rejected three progressive candidates presented by Rome.

The three protestants who were given the Eucharist were Rita Famos, president of the Evangelical Reformed Swiss church, Michel Müller, president of the Zürich church council, and Mario Fehr, socialist councilor of the canton of Zürich.

Also present were Bishop Peter Bürcher, who administrated the diocese since the departure of Bonnemain’s conservative predecessor, Vitus Huonder, in 2019, and Bishop Felix Gmür of Basel, who is also head of the Swiss Bishops’ Conference.

The reception of Holy Communion by three non-Catholics was confirmed by the communications officer of the diocese of Chur during a telephone conversation with LifeSite this Thursday. He stressed that Bishop Bonnemain did not innovate in doing so, but that Bishop Huonder had done the same on one occasion (in 2012). He underscored that conservative websites were calling Bishop Bonnemain’s act scandalous while they never denounced a similar act on the part of Bishop Huonder.

The communications officer of Chur later repeated this in an email to LifeSiteNews, saying that “the information was confirmed.”

It should be clear that if a bishop with a deserved reputation for doctrinal rectitude does distribute Communion to Protestants, this cannot be excused because he is a “conservative.”

According to an article published on March 23 by kath.ch, the official Catholic Media Center of the Roman Catholic Church in Switzerland, Bishop Huonder joined a Mass at the “Together Days” for the dedication of Saint Mary’s Church in Zürich, and before the Consecration asked the priest Mario Pinggera, whether Reformed people were also present and whether they would come to Communion.” Pinggera says he told the bishop: “We have a very good ecumenical relationship. And I wish that this will still be the case after the consecration!” He added, speaking to the press, that before Communion Bishop Huonder told the assistance: “Whoever believes that Christ is truly present in this bread should come.” Mario Pinggera commented: “For that I later praised him in the sacristy: That’s good. Later he probably tried to put the whole thing into perspective. But that’s how it happened.”

LifeSite was not able to find confirmation of these allegations in internet archives.

The article also accused the “extreme right-wing press” of “hiding” the fact that Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger himself gave Communion to Brother Roger Schutz, a protestant of the ecumenical community of Taizé, at Pope John Paul II’s Requiem Mass.

This did create a scandal at the time in traditional circles but according to French biographer Yves Chiron, Frère Roger had actually converted to Catholicism in 1972, a fact that was confirmed by the former bishop of Autun, Armand Le Bourgeois, who received his profession of Catholic faith, to his successor in the diocese, Raymond Séguy. The reason this was not publicized was that Schutz did not want to “break ecumenical communion” around Taizé. Chiron also quoted a letter sent to him by the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity saying that Schutz’ “communion of faith with the Catholic Church” had an “objective and public character.”

But it was not generally known, and under the circumstances, his admission to Communion, even by someone like Cardinal Ratzinger, led to confusion and dismay among many Catholics.

A response about the Chur incident from Bishop Bonnemain, who had received questions from a German-speaking media outlet, was also forwarded to LifeSiteNews. Here is his statement (translation by LifeSite):

The general norms and criteria concerning the reception of Communion on the part of non-Catholics are clearly set forth both in the Directory on Ecumenism and in CIC c. 844. The implementation of these norms towards individual concrete persons during a public celebration takes into account the existing circumstances and the personal attitude of the individual. The media, due to the protection of privacy, is not the place to comment on such matters.

We beg to differ with His Excellency on the question of commenting on “such matters,” when Holy Communion has been given publicly to members and dignitaries of Reformed communites in circumstances that can be questioned and in such a way that any Internet user can watch the full stream of the ordination ceremony and witness the event. Receiving the Holy Eucharist certainly has a strong private dimension but it is also an eminently public event, not only because reception of Communion is visible to all (and in this case, on video publicly available to all online), but also because Communion during a Catholic Mass implies communion with the Catholic Church.

It is because Communion is public that “public sinners” — that is, people who choose to live consistently and openly in opposition to the moral or doctrinal teachings of the Church — should not receive Communion publicly as long as it has not been made publicly clear that they have rejected their heretical beliefs or erroneous way of life, because of the scandal it would cause.

We take the point that the “existing circumstances and the personal attitude of the individual” are not for the bishop to comment on in the media; on the other hand, there was a public act of welcoming what is now called “intercommunion” with people who are not only members of protestant denominations, but even their leaders.

The Code of Canon Law (can. 844) states: “Catholic ministers administer the sacraments licitly to Catholic members of the Christian faithful alone, who likewise receive them licitly from Catholic ministers alone,” and adds a series of exceptions. These regard the possibility for Catholics to receive Communion in Eastern and other churches that, without being united to Rome, have sacraments that are valid, and for Catholic ministers to give the same sacraments to members of those churches under certain conditions.

Section 4 of can. 844 is the one that was apparently invoked by Bishop Bonnemain: “If the danger of death is present or if, in the judgment of the diocesan bishop or conference of bishops, some other grave necessity urges it, Catholic ministers administer these same sacraments licitly also to other Christians not having full communion with the Catholic Church, who cannot approach a minister of their own community and who seek such on their own accord, provided that they manifest Catholic faith in respect to these sacraments and are properly disposed.”

This “open door,” pushed ajar for pastoral reasons to bring help to people who are in a life-and-death situation, is certainly — and regrettably — worded in such a way as to allow abuse, but that does not make the abuse good.

Are friendship and the fostering of good relations sufficient “grave necessity” to allow Protestants who have a very different belief in the Eucharist than Catholics? Without going into details regarding the three “Reformed” Christians who received Holy Communion from the hands of newly ordained Bishop Bonnemain, it would have been helpful if he had at least made clear that reception of the Eucharist requires belief in the Real Presence of Our Lord under the species of bread and wine.

A later document than the revised Code of Canon Law of 1983 was also invoked by Bishop Bonnemain: the Directory for the Application of Principles and Norms on Ecumenism. Its number 129 reads:

A sacrament is an act of Christ and of the Church through the Spirit. Its celebration in a concrete community is the sign of the reality of its unity in faith, worship and community life. As well as being signs, sacraments — most specially the Eucharist — are sources of the unity of the Christian community and of spiritual life, and are means for building them up. Thus Eucharistic communion is inseparably linked to full ecclesial communion and its visible expression.

At the same time, the Catholic Church teaches that by baptism members of other Churches and ecclesial Communities are brought into a real, even if imperfect communion, with the Catholic Church and that “baptism, which constitutes the sacramental bond of unity existing among all who through it are reborn … is wholly directed toward the acquiring of fullness of life in Christ.” The Eucharist is, for the baptized, a spiritual food which enables them to overcome sin and to live the very life of Christ, to be incorporated more profoundly in Him and share more intensely in the whole economy of the Mystery of Christ.

It is in the light of these two basic principles, which must always be taken into account together, that in general the Catholic Church permits access to its Eucharistic communion and to the sacraments of penance and anointing of the sick, only to those who share its oneness in faith, worship and ecclesial life. For the same reasons, it also recognizes that in certain circumstances, by way of exception, and under certain conditions, access to these sacraments may be permitted, or even commended, for Christians of other Churches and ecclesial Communities.

Which conditions? Which exceptions? This remains unsaid in the document, creating the same kind of situation you get when a norm is correctly and plainly formulated and loopholes are immediately set up, as is the case with the reception of Communion in the hand (that has become the visible norm even though it still constitutes an exception by way of “indult”) or, more recently, the admittance to Communion of some divorced and civilly remarried couples following a “path of discernment.”

Vague norms don’t alter serious questions regarding the act

Clearly, Bishop Bonnemain did not act as a lone breaker of universally clear rules: The rules themselves lack clarity. But that does not alter the serious questions posed by his very public act.

The Diocese of Chur had no hesitation about confirming the information first posted by a conservative Catholic website, kath.net. Instead, the communications officer told LifeSite that “it is important to know that in Switzerland, about half of all marries couples are confessionally ‘mixed’ and that ecumenism is therefore an important priority.”

Does this indicate that a practice of giving Communion to the protestant spouse in a mixed-faith couple does indeed exist? When the question of “intercommunion” was raised with Pope Francis in 2015 during a visit to a Lutheran church in Rome, he refused to give a clear answer, prompting Cardinal Robert Sarah to intervene: “Intercommunion is not permitted between Catholics and non-Catholics. You must confess the Catholic Faith. A non-Catholic cannot receive Communion. That is very, very clear.”

In 2018, returning from his voyage to Geneva, Pope Francis gave one of his notorious in-flight interviews, saying that it was up to individual bishops, not bishops’ conferences, to determine whether a protestant married to a Catholic may receive Holy Communion. Pope Francis also quoted can. 844 to justify his answer, but without going so far as to say he was commending the practice.

In Chur, it raises no eyebrows.

When watching the video of the ordination ceremony of Bishop Bonnemain in Chur, it was difficult to verify whether the three protestants who had been named by kath.net actually received Communion — especially because everyone was wearing mask (even Bonnemain himself during his episcopal ordination). This was one of the reasons why LifeSite reached out to the diocese.

Rita Famos can be identified quite clearly in the full-length video of the Ordination Mass, at the 1:45:10 time stamp, but appears to walk in front of Bonnemain coming from the right, apparently without stopping to receive the Eucharist. She is soon followed by someone who looks quite similar to Michel Müller (time stamp 1:45:18). This person can be seen receiving the Eucharist, masked, and closing his left hand around it; he then moves away along the front row of pews without removing his mask and without lifting his hand towards his mouth, simply walking with his arms alongside his body.

The man’s offhand attitude and his actions become very clear when watching the video in slow motion, and would seem to indicate that he has no idea what the consecrated Host really is, or prefers to ignore what he knows. Perhaps he did consume the Host once returned to his place, but without respecting even the lax rules for receiving Communion in the hand. A scandal within the scandal …

To date, no public disavowal of Bishop Bonnemain’s gesture of giving Communion to protestants he surely knew, having spent the most recent decades of his life in the Diocese of Chur, has been forthcoming from the hierarchy of the Catholic Church.

Cardinal Kurt Koch, who ordained him a bishop, told kath.net that he only learned of the distribution of Communion to Protestants after the ceremony. “I was not informed of it, nor did I see anything. I did not distribute Holy Communion during the ceremony of the bishop’s consecration, but took a seat in the sanctuary. These are moments I use for myself to pray; not to look to see who was coming to Communion. For this reason, I was surprised by the letters I received afterwards.”

Three prostitutes were specifically invited to attend the ceremony

The giving of Communion to protestant leaders was not the only remarkable twist given to the ceremony. Bonnemain invited three prostitutes from Zürich’s red-light district, the Langstrasse, two women and a young man, to attend among the one hundred guests who were allowed into the cathedral in a special accommodation of COVID rules. Migrants were also present.

He also gave an important role to women: It was a woman who gave the solemn reading of the papal bull naming the new bishop of the see of Chur. This is usually done by a cleric, a representative of the nunciature.

Bonnemain gave a short talk in three languages at the end of the celebration, insisting that he would work at “healing” the diocese — an obvious jab at Bishop Huonder’s time. Huonder was no favorite with the progressives in the Catholic Church in Switzerland.

Before leaving the Church in the final procession, Bonnemain knelt facing the congregation, his back turned to the tabernacle, and asked the faithful for their blessing.

Raphael Rauch of kath.ch drew a parallel between Bonnemain falling to his knees and the “taking a knee” popularized by the Black Lives Matter movement, calling it a “powerful symbolic gesture.”

“The wounds inflicted by Bishops Wolfgang Haas, Vitus Huonder, and the Apostolic Administrator Peter Bürcher are still painful. The healing process can begin with the bishop and doctor Joseph Bonnemain,” wrote Rauch: “The kneeling of Chur stands for a new beginning in the diocese. This is symbolically confirmed by Martin Kopp’s invitation. A year ago, Peter Bürcher deposed the popular vicar general on flimsy grounds. At the episcopal ordination he was now a guest of honor — together with three refugees. This is a powerful form of reparation.”

Bonnemain himself, born in Barcelona, the son of a Catalan father and a Swiss mother, studied medicine in Switzerland and became a numerary of Opus Dei. He was ordained a priest as a member of the Opus Dei prelature. In 1981, Bonnemain was appointed diocesan judge, and one year later he was appointed vice judicial vicar. He became the head of the judicial vicariate of the diocese of Chur in 1989. He also worked in Zurich as a hospital chaplain. He says he changed his attitude towards believers when a dying man said he would rather make his last confession to a “fat, good-natured Capuchin” than to a lean, athletic man with two doctorates who “scared” him.

“I thought to myself: This is where the Holy Spirit speaks. I knew that I had to change. I understood that theology works differently in reality than it does in studies. There is no black or white, but many shades,” explained the new bishop in an interview.

The ordination ceremony took place in Switzerland’s oldest cathedral on the feast of Saint Joseph, marking a break in the rigors of Lent: flowers and music underscored the event, complete with a chamber orchestra and four soloists who played and sang Haydn, Pablo Casals, Louis Viernes, Gabriel Fauré, Duruflé… The musical taste of Bonnemain appears to be impeccable, but the mixture of sacred baroque and secular pieces — such as the Sicilienne of Fauré during the Offertory — lent a non-religious tone to the Mass.

Bonnemain, who has refused to have his own episcopal coat of arms, has adopted an age-old ivory episcopal baton which is said to date back to the 5th century and to have belonged to the first bishop of Chur.

In an interview with bazonline.ch, Bonnemain answered a question about the Church “excluding” people by not blessing same-sex couples: “The Church is in a process of development on these issues. We have already learned a lot, but we still have to learn more. For me, one thing is certain: Everyone is more than just their sexual predisposition.” He called the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith’s recent note prohibiting the blessing of these couples “guard rails” that constitute “an aid,” adding: “We always have to consider the whole person, their development and life story. And then decide … As in other areas, I will try to differentiate between guidelines and the specific people who stand in front of me. Regardless of whether they are homosexual or not. Incidentally, I also have homosexual friends and don’t make a difference here.”

When asked: “So if open-minded pastors are blessing same-sex couples in your diocese, you don’t mind?”, Bonnemain replied: “I would talk to them and see if they made a good judgment to reach their decision. On the one hand there are general guard rails, on the other hand the specific living conditions of the couple. I trust the pastoral wisdom of our pastors.”

To date, the Congregation for Bishops led by Cardinal Marc Ouellet has not called Bonnemain (or any other bishop openly showing his support for ecclesial recognition of same-sex couples, for that matter) to order, or if he has, in a private manner that does a disservice to all Catholics who have a right to hear the truth from their pastors. Doctrine, morals and the infinite respect due to Our Lord in Holy Communion are being set aside in the name of openness and tolerance.
