Physicians, scientists believe doctors’ group deserves Nobel Prize for finding ‘most powerful COVID-19 killer known to science’

New York Times journalist reported on high drama of a media blackout and brutal censorship by Big Pharma interests of the 'miraculous' Ivermectin drug that 'may well have saved' President Trump's life as doctors continue to endure 'David vs 10 Goliaths' battle.

ANALYSIS

June 1, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – The “miraculous” drug Ivermectin has proved to be incredibly effective at both preventing and treating COVID-19, yet it has been subject to widespread suppression and misinformation from global health bodies in an apparent attempt to promote financial revenue over saving the lives of millions.

In a recent article, New York Times best-selling author and journalist Michael Capuzzo detailed the manner in which Ivermectin came to be used to treat COVID-19, and simultaneously subjected to global censorship despite its incredibly high success rate at treating the virus. The May 2021 issue of Mountain Home contains Capuzzo’s detailed report, following the actions of doctors in the Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance (FLCCC).

Ivermectin is “what the world desperately needs now,” according to Dr. Pierre Kory, one of the founding members of the FLCCC. But although the desperate need is present, governing health bodies apparently seem intent on ensuring that the drug is not known, Capuzzo reveals.

FLCCC formation and the miracle drug Ivermectin

However, the FLCCC is not promoting Ivermectin based on a hunch or without medical qualifications to support them. The five-man team (shown in order in article header photo) in of Dr. Paul Marik, Dr. Joseph Varon, Dr. Gianfranco Umberto Meduri, Dr. Jose Iglesias, and Dr. Kory has “nearly 2,000 peer reviewed papers and books and over a century of bedside experience in treating multi-organ failure and severe pneumonia-type diseases” between them.

Dr. Marik spent the early days of COVID-19 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital treating patients with the virus, and developing a treatment protocol as early as January 2020. The FLCCC then realized in March 2020 that the coronavirus itself does not directly kill a person but rather overpowers the body with a “vast viral graveyard,” which then attacks the body, causing organ inflammation and blood clotting. They developed the MATH+ protocol for treating COVID, composed of Methylprednisolone, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Thiamine (Vitamin B1), and the blood thinner Heparin.

As Capuzzo wrote, while the approach was strongly recommended against by health bodies throughout the world, it was subsequently made the “global standard of hospital care,” courtesy of later studies. Their first COVID-19 preventive protocol, the first of its kind, was “centered” on the use of the “miracle drug” Ivermectin.

“It’s therapeutic nihilism to say that doctors can do nothing,” Marik said. “Supportive care is no care at all.”

Early censorship

The FLCCC’s MATH+ protocol treatment was hailed as eminently successful by medics around the world, who wrote to thank the FLCCC doctors, who were fast becoming “heroes of the pandemic.” In order to spread the good news of the medical success, Emmy Award-winning publicist Joyce Kamen and former CBS News correspondent Betsy Ashton devoted themselves to contacting TV news anchors, scientists, public health experts, “every governor and member of Congress, President Trump, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and, when the time came, President-elect Biden.” All ignored the successful treatment.

“People are dying needlessly. We’ve cracked the code of the coronavirus,” said Marik.

The censorship was a foreshadow of things to come.

Then in October, Marik came across studies from Latin America demonstrating the effectiveness of Ivermectin. The incredibly effective drug was described by Marik as “one of the safest drugs ever given to humanity,” with more than 3.7 billion doses given over 40 years. Australian research had earlier discovered that Ivermectin not only blocked the development of RNA viruses such as the Zika virus, influenza, West Nile virus, and Avian flu, but also lethally attacked COVID, wiping out “essentially all viral material by 48 hours.”

Ivermectin “basically obliterates transmission of this virus. If you take it, you will not get sick,” testified Dr. Kory before the Senate Homeland Security Committee in December 2020. He pointed to “mountains of data,” which had emerged in the past few months, backing up his claims.

These mountains were composed at the time of 27 studies, 16 of which were randomly controlled trials, with “miraculous” results. (Now there are 56 trials, with 28 randomly controlled trials.) People with COVID who took Ivermectin were “far more likely” to get better at home and did not need hospitalization, while those already ill in hospitals did not end up the intensive care units.

In fact, six of the studies presented results showing that Ivermectin's efficacy at reducing the risk of developing COVID was a staggering 92.5 percent. Dr. Hector Carvallo, professor of medicine at the University of Buenos Aires, conducted a real world trial of the drug, giving Ivermectin to 788 doctors and health-care workers in three different centers, with a control group of 407 medical staff who were not given Ivermectin. Out of the control group, 236 people became “ill with COVID,” and the 788 treated with Ivermectin recorded no infections.

Brazilian states with cities that took up Ivermectin protocols similarly “show a much greater drop” in cases than others, with disparities of more than 60 percent between neighboring areas, according to analysis linked by Kory. A subsequent study by a Brazilian-led team reported “a reduction of 31.5 to 36.5 percent in viral shedding” and 70 percent to 73 percent shorter symptom duration for patients treated with regimens that included the drug.

This was mirrored in Peru and India, as thousands, even millions, were given the drug, with COVID cases and deaths plummeting as a result. Dr. Andrew Hill, senior WHO investigator for potential COVID-19 treatments, also provided corroboration, stating that Ivermectin reduced COVID mortality by 81 percent.

A deafening silence of global censorship

However, Capuzzo reported that Kory and the FLCCC team have faced global censorship in their attempts to enlighten doctors and politicians to the truth about Ivermectin.

“Only big randomized controlled trials by big pharma/big academic medical centers are accepted by big journals, while others are rejected,” he declared. In order to escape the “media/social media censorship,” a treatment must be a big drug recommended by a large public health agency.

“This leaves you with a system where the only thing that’s considered to have sufficient evidence or proven efficacy is essentially a big new pharmaceutical drug,” he continued.

Kory’s powerful Senate testimony garnered a huge amount of views on YouTube, upward of 8 million, before it was deleted for “misinformation” about COVID-19. YouTube also removed the video from Republican Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson’s channel as well as other clips from the December 2020 Senate hearing.

In Argentina, Ivermectin-promoting Dr. Carvallo noted that “as soon as our reports were published ... resistance appeared in the horizon.” He said his team faced pressure from “many doctors who worked for the pharmaceutical industry, because this was a very, very cheap treatment.”

Then in England, Dr. Tess Lawrie, a prominent independent medical researcher evaluating drugs for the World Health Organization and the U.K.’s National Health Service (NHS), attempted to promote the drug, only to face similar censorship.

Having studied all of the reports that Kory cited, she called the evidence “consistent and unequivocal,” and promptly sent a high-level multi-study review to NHS leaders, U.K. politicians, and Prime Minister Boris Johnson, stating that Ivermectin should be “adopted globally and systematically for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19.” Three months later, she has heard nothing, and instead been “batted .. away with waffle.”

Social media also weighed in on the censorship. Twitter removed a January 12, 2021 tweet from the Brazilian Ministry of Health that urged people to “request early treatment” for COVID-19, i.e. Ivermectin. Twitter accused the message of “spreading misleading and potentially harmful information.”

Then the Slovakian Ministry of Health announced on Facebook it would begin using Ivermectin, which caused Facebook to remove the post and the entire page.

Even the so-called modern arbiters of truth, fact-checkers, attacked Kory’s “mountains of data,” when after he presented all the evidence from the many successful randomized trials to the Associated Press (AP), the AP wrote, “False. There’s no evidence Ivermectin has been proven a safe or effective treatment against COVID-19.”

The drug was blacklisted by medical agencies, health bodies, and media the world over, and emphasis placed solely on the much-hyped, hastily developed, experimental COVID injections.

Did President Trump receive Ivermectin?

A particularly poignant point made, but fleetingly in the article, is related to former President Donald Trump and his own connection to Ivermectin.

Capuzzo makes the groundbreaking claim that Trump was treated with Ivermectin while undergoing treatment for his own diagnosis of COVID-19 at Walter Reed Hospital. Capuzzo wrote that Trump’s use of the drug went “unreported by the press, though it may well have saved the president’s life while he was instead touting new big pharma drugs.”

Capuzzo is alone in making this revelation and provides no reference for his information.

However, the weight of his claim is not to be ignored, given his hard-earned credentials as a six-time-nominated Pulitzer journalist and a New York Times best-selling author.

Commenting on the matter, LifeSite co-founder and president Steve Jalsevac suggested that Capuzzo’s claims could indeed be true, and had suspected that the President must have received either Hydroxychloroquine or Ivermectin, since Regeneron and Remdesivir, both of which Trump was reported to have received, would not have been effective enough to cause such a dramatic improvement in his condition.

Jalsevac previously questioned why Trump was not receiving Hydroxychloroquine, since it had been proved to be both effective and safe in treating COVID-19.

Given the censorship that the FLCCC reported in its attempts to promote Ivermectin, it is perhaps not surprising that any news of Trump receiving the drug should be equally censored, and news of the incident only revealed in a publication of comparatively small readership.

Why such blacklisting of Ivermectin?

Given the widespread censorship of Ivermectin’s success that Capuzzo describes, along with his claim that Trump received Ivermectin but was completely ignored by the media, the question rises as to why such censorship is being enacted.

Writing to Dr. Marik, Dr. Carvallo summarized the reason for the censorship: “I am afraid we have affected the most sensitive organ on humans: the wallet … ”

What then is the connection between the wallet and Ivermectin? Ivermectin’s parent drug company Merck owned the patent, but it expired in 1996. Consequently, Ivermectin can be found for a price measured in cents or dollars, rather than hundreds or thousands.

In contrast, Gilead-produce Remdesevir, the “only anti-viral treatment for hospitalized COVID-19 patients approved by the NIH COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Panel,” costs $3,000 per dose. Remdesevir has been shown to have no mortality benefit for COVID patients. As noted by The Washington Post, “Remdesivir may not cure coronovirus, but it’s on track to make billions for Gilead.”

The same is seen with the COVID experimental injections. Drugs are only granted Emergency Use Authorization provided that “there are no adequate, approved, and available alternatives” for the drugs being authorized. Vaccine companies have received billions in funding in order to produce the experimental drugs, something that would not have occurred had Ivermectin been publicly known and promoted as the effective treatment which the FLCCC has shown it to be.

A censorship-free global promotion of Ivermectin would mean the loss of the billions in funding and the EUA awarded to the vaccines - vaccines that are rapidly being followed by adverse effects in their hundreds of thousands, and deaths in the thousands.

In fact, Merck recently warned against Ivermectin being used for COVID; a point that Philippine Dr. Agbayani called a conflict of interest, since Merck is currently making a rival medicine for COVID-19, having received $356 million from the United States to do so, and which will be marketed at $3,000, according to Capuzzo.

“Our little Ivermectin has so many big enemies. It’s David versus 10 Goliaths,” declared Dr. Kory.

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin, June 1, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — Fr. James Altman, who rose to fame after saying last year that a Catholic cannot be a Democrat, gave a rousing homily to his parish family on Memorial Day weekend despite his bishop’s request that he resign.

“So I’m surprised as anybody that I have the privilege to be with you again today,” Altman remarked cheerfully on Sunday at St. James the Less Catholic Church.

“A privilege it is, indeed. And like a father loves to do, to feed you, the only precious children I’ll ever have.”

The lively Wisconsin priest continues to refuse Bishop William T. Callahan’s request to resign. He was thus still in the pulpit and in fine form as he honored the memory of soldiers who died in the service of American freedom.

“As a profound saying goes, ‘Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it; it flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it,'” Altman stated.

“We are forever indebted to those who have given their lives that we might be free.”

Altman also quoted President Franklin Delano Roosevelt on the forgetfulness of those who enjoy their freedoms “that men have died to win them.”  He enjoined his congregation not to dishonor the “courageous” dead by giving away their freedoms, as too many Americans have done during the madness of the coronavirus crisis.

“Let us then not dishonor their sacrifice as so many in this country have done over the past 14 months by willingly, readily, happily giving away so much of our freedom to those who would seek to dominate and destroy the glory of the United States of America,” he said.

Altman then alluded to a more recent president before launching into a spirited denunciation of America’s enemies, using Biblical invective.

“To those that died that we might be free, we the grateful faithful are dutybound to say that we will work to make America great again and to drive out the many ungrateful, graceless, godless vipers who seek to destroy it,” he said.

Altman’s homily contrasted Gospel narratives of healings performed by Our Lord Jesus Christ with versions he suggested were compatible with the “Gospel of the World.” He noted that St. Peter’s mother-in-law had had a “severe fever” when Jesus had come personally to pray over her. The priest said that this is a reason why St. James wrote that if anyone in the Christian community was sick, they should call for a priest to say prayers over them in Jesus’s name and to anoint them with oil. But in the “Gospel of the World” version of the story, St. Peter’s mother-in-law has a “great fever,” the local health department puts her house under quarantine, the governor sends in a respirator that begins to kill her, and Jesus stands outside wearing a mask trying to look at her through the window.

“So Jesus and the apostles had to stand outside because they were afraid of offending the staff,” Altman said with heavy irony, “and having the staff call the police and arrest them for violating health department protocols.”

The priest them made a barely-veiled reference to the utility of such ordinary drugs as ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine in fighting COVID-19.

“Sadly, down at the local Walgreens there were some very cheap, tried-and-tested, readily available medicine, medicine that real science had already proven was helpful,” said Altman, continuing the “Gospel of the World” version of the Scriptural story.

“But the people were swayed by, indeed duped by, the godless media, and even any mention of the real science behind it strictly was forbidden, and anyone who did bring it up was cancelled immediately.”

In this worldly version, St. Peter’s poor mother-in-law dies “alone and lonely without being given Last Rites and the apostolic pardon.” The Lord  goes home to self-quarantine for 14 days.

Altman also took a jab at the COVID-19 vaccines, saying that from the worldly point of view, the sad part of the story was that St. Peter’s mother-in-law died before she could be injected with “an experimental gene manipulation.”

“Oh, wait a minute: if they had done that while she had a fever, it would have compromised her immune system and made her doubly sick, so she would have died twice as fast,” he said.

The priest underscored that this story is “the Gospel of the World as we have seen for 14 months”, the Gospel “according to Fauci, Birx, Cuomo, Biden, and health departments pretty well anywhere.”

Altman then read another passage of Scripture describing the Lord’s healing mission, noting that Jesus went around to "all the towns and villages" and to synagogues that were neither empty, nor locked, preaching the Gospel and curing "every disease and illness."

Altman noted also that people crowded to the Lord, without wearing masks. He pondered that Jesus had fed crowds of 5,000 men, which implies 5,000 or more women and children as well.

“CNN would have had a cow at the sight of such a super-spreader event,” the homilist said.

Altman underscored also that Jesus’s example shows us that unrestricted church worship is “essential.”

“Jesus taught in churches that were full, and not subject to some capacity restrictions because he knew and taught us then — and we should know now — that this is essential,” he said.

In the final part of his homily, Fr. Altman noted that American are approaching “graduation season” and that parents will soon send their children out into the world, where they are in danger from the “contagious and deadly virus of this world.” He asked his congregation if they had immunized their children against “the Gospel of the World by vaccinating them with the Truth, Beauty, and Goodness of the real Gospel, the Catholic faith.”

After Mass, LifeSiteNews reporter Jim Hale spoke with a young couple who had driven for three hours with their children to hear Fr. Altman, “a priest speaking very prophetically.”

OTTAWA, Ontario, June 1, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – An amendment to Canada’s controversial internet regulation bill proposed by the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) to bring back safeguards for user-generated social media content was voted down Monday by all opposition parties.

The Liberals, NDP, and Bloc party members rejected the CPC amendment during a clause-by-clause review of Bill C-10 by the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage.

According to Dr. Michael Geist, law professor at University of Ottawa and Canada Research Chair in Internet and E-commerce Law, the CPC amendment was in effect offering a “do-over” of the bill after a clause was removed that protected user-generated content.

“The Conservative amendment effectively offered the parties a ‘do-over’ by acknowledging that the removal had sparked huge public concern over the implications for freedom of expression and net neutrality,” wrote Geist, a law professor at the University of Ottawa and Canada Research Chair in Internet and E-commerce Law, in an opinion piece.

“Nevertheless, the Liberals, NDP, and Bloc voted down the motion, with the NDP not even bothering to speak to the issue at all.”

On Monday, CPC MP Rachael Harder said during the Heritage committee meeting that "to put the CRTC in control of such a thing is not only daunting for them, by their own admission, but crazy. Like, it’s just ludicrous. This bill is under the guise of ‘modernizing the Broadcasting Act,’ but the Broadcasting Act actually shouldn’t be applied to the Internet.”

“The Internet is this incredible place that is limitless. So, you don’t actually need the CRTC to step in and pick winners and losers, show favouritism to some and harm others ... what’s going on here without that (safeguarding user content) is actually the extreme censorship of material posted online, and therefore an attack on the concept of net neutrality.”

Last year, the Trudeau government introduced Heritage Minister Steven Guilbeault’s Bill C-10 that would regulate certain online media services through the creation of a new class of broadcaster called “online undertakings.” The new regulations would be done through amendments to Canada’s Broadcasting Act.

The original draft of Bill C-10 had a Section 4.1 exemption clause for “user content” posted on social media by individuals, meaning such posts would originally have not fallen under Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission’s (CRTC) regulations.

The CRTC is the federal body tasked with regulating TV and radio in Canada, but up until Bill C-10 has kept a hands-off approach to regulating the internet.

However, a recent amendment to Bill C-10 through the Heritage Committee removed the Section 4.1 provision, which in theory means the federal government would be able to regulate what people post online.

The legislation, if passed, would force companies such as YouTube, Twitter, or Instagram to remove content deemed “harmful” within 24 hours. In essence, it would let the CRTC regulate the internet and social media in line with their regulations for broadcasting services.

The CPC amendment would have restored the Section 4.1 provision.

Geist noted that while the Liberal, NDP, and Bloc parties were “not supportive of addressing the user generated content concerns,” they were “quick to defend any suggestions that the study of Bill C-10 had been flawed and excluded important voices.”

Geist said the impact of not having “key witnesses appear before committee has become increasingly obvious as clause by clause has proceeded.”

“The reality is that the MPs may be well-meaning, but there is too much they simply don’t know about the bill and its implications. This includes the numerous terms that are not defined, the likely impact on creators, the consequences of discoverability, and the ability to implement provisions that are not found anywhere else in the world among them,” wrote Geist.

“Without that knowledge, many simply revert to platitudes about making web giants pay, instead of acknowledging the obvious: The committee’s study of Bill C-10 has been deeply flawed and embarrassingly incomplete. As MP Kevin Waugh told committee yesterday, ‘Bill C-10 is a disaster now. We need to take a step back.’”

In a May 17 open letter addressed to Trudeau, tech critics called upon his government to halt all regulation of the internet, saying there would be “unintended consequences for the free and open internet in Canada” from any “overreaching regulatory policies.”

Guilbeault recently struggled to give a clear answer to justify why a committee he chaired moved to have personal social media posts placed under government oversight.

Recently, the Heritage Committee put a hold on Bill C-10 until the Department of Justice looked at it to determine whether or not the recent amendments violate one’s free speech granted in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms with regard to posts on social media.

After a review, the government said in explanatory an note on the bill that it does not impede Canadians' freedom of speech.

Bill C-10 has come under fire from the former head of the CRTC Peter Menzies, who said, “Putting the CRTC in charge of the entire internet, I mean, that’s like putting a logging company in charge of the Great Bear Rainforest … it’s not going to end well.”

CPC MP Pierre Poilievre has been an outspoken critic of the Trudeau government and Bill C-10. He recently launched a petition against Bill C-10 called “Stop the Censorship Bill & Protect Free Speech.” The petition calls on the Trudeau government to “immediately withdraw the censorship bill and respect free speech.”

Conservative Party of Canada leader Erin O’Toole said a future Conservative government would do away with Bill C-10.

“The Liberals want to push through Bill C-10 with no regard for your free speech. If Bill C-10 passes, a Conservative government will do the right thing and repeal it,” he wrote in a May 19 tweet.

Currently, Bill C-10 is at second reading stage. However, with Parliament scheduled to wrap up by June 23 for summer break, even it is passed in the House of Commons, it is unlikely to make it through Canada’s Senate for a full review.

The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage will be meeting again on June 4 to discuss Bill C-10.

Johns Hopkins prof: ‘One of the biggest failures of our current medical leadership is ignoring natural immunity’

Dr. Marty Makary blasted the CDC and the White House for continuing to push vaccines for COVID-19 when it's not necessary.

June 1, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – A Johns Hopkins School of Medicine professor blasted the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for ignoring crucial data on natural immunity from COVID-19, saying that “probably half the country has natural immunity from prior infection. This is the most slow, reactionary, political CDC in American history.”

Dr. Marty Makary, also a professor at the Bloomberg School of Public Health, made the remarks during an interview on the Vince Coglianese Show, where he excoriated public health officials for denying the reality of a natural immunity to COVID-19, acquired through natural infection.

Makary explained that the CDC’s numbers on those who have contracted a COVID-19 infection are artificially low, giving a false impression of the spread of the virus and the herd immunity that has already arisen therefrom.

Referencing the roughly 30 million COVID infections cited on the CDC’s dedicated COVID-tracker webpage, Makary said “those are just the people who are confirmed to have had the infection. It’s probably five times higher, about 150 million people.”

Makary spoke positively of the broad spread of the virus in relation to immunity: “When you get natural immunity from a severe COVID infection, you have natural immunity that’s probably lifelong.”

Various studies have shown this to be the case, Makary noted, paying attention to data from Denmark, where only “six-tenths of one percent of people who had COVID ever get the infection a second time.” “And that’s when they’re around it (COVID) all the time, that’s in healthcare workers,” he added.

“Studies out of California prove that and show 38 percent of Californians had antibodies back in March before the vaccine was really kicking off. About half the country has natural immunity.”

And this “natural immunity works,” Makary continued, adding that “there is more data on natural immunity than there is on vaccinated immunity, because natural immunity has been around longer.”

Though the virus has been around “for 15 months,” Makary explained that “in the U.S. we’re not seeing re-infections.” Additionally, he recognized that Italy too, once the epicenter of the crisis, is “not seeing re-infections.”

“When they do happen, they’re rare and their symptoms are mild or they’re asymptomatic. You get breakthrough infections with natural immunity, and you get breakthrough infections with vaccine immunity. They’re mild and often asymptomatic,” he explained.

Makary voiced dismay at CDC and White House officials who routinely push for near-universal vaccination in spite of the data on natural immunity. In fact, governing bodies are guilty of “demonizing” people who decide not to get vaccinated, even when they have recovered from a COVID infection and have the antibodies, forming a natural immunity.

So incensed was the professor by the intellectual negligence displayed by public health officials that he actively discouraged recourse to their advice on COVID-related matters: “I never thought I'd say this, but please ignore the CDC guidance.”

“One of the biggest failures of our current medical leadership is ignoring natural immunity,” he said. “They’ve given out no guidance to those who’ve had the infection, they just tell them to get the vaccine as if they don’t already have antibodies and they demonize them when they’re hesitant.”

He added that the medical establishment “don’t know what to do with those who already had the infection,” leading them to simply suggest taking one of the experimental vaccines.

But the vaccines themselves are no guarantee of protection against the very virus they were created to shield from. In addition to myriad health problems arising from the currently experimental COVID vaccines, including life-threatening blood clots, the jabs have not proved adequate in preventing infection after being “fully vaccinated.”

Reports in April confirmed almost 6,000 so-called “breakthrough cases” of COVID-19 in the United States – that is, contraction of the virus two weeks after receiving a full vaccine regimen – 74 of whom died.

In fact, as more breakthrough cases were beginning to be reported, the CDC made the decision to alter how it tests and records COVID infection in vaccinated individuals, raising the COVID test-positive bar higher than that of tests from unvaccinated individuals. The CDC also announced that it would stop reporting weekly COVID breakthrough infections unless they result in hospitalization or death, subsequently suppressing the figures.

Although breakthrough cases continue to rise, Makary suggested that taking just one shot of a two-shot-recommended vaccine is sufficient for protection against COVID-19. He did note, however, that “when you get the second dose it can knock you down,” and that “getting the infection is like getting a dose.”

The medical doctor soon turned his attention to destigmatizing the decision not to vaccinate, saying that such a choice should be considered “reasonable too,” especially given that “we have fewer daily COVID cases now than we have daily flu cases in a mild flu year.”

“We've got to start respecting people who choose not to get the vaccine instead of demonizing them,” he said.

Makary blamed the Biden administration, as well as the CDC, for misleading the nation regarding the need for high vaccine uptake, thus hindering the perceived progress toward herd immunity. “They ignore natural immunity which changes the path to herd immunity,” he said.

“When you ignore the fact that half of the unvaccinated have natural immunity, the path to get to 85 percent immunity in the population is much more difficult, it’s much more dire. If you ignore natural immunity, the only way to get to 85 percent population immunity is to have mandates for the vaccine, and require kids to get them, and convert those who are hesitant, and demonize them. That is why you are hearing a totally different story from public health officials who ignore natural immunity.”

“Right now in America, 62 percent of all adults have been vaccinated and half of the unvaccinated have natural immunity. That means 80 to 85 percent of adults in America today have immunity. The virus can’t jump around … when 8.5 out of 10 people are protected, they’re barriered.”

“That’s called herd immunity and we are there.”

“This is the most slow, reactionary, political CDC in American history. They’re taking talking points from the WH and it’s a disgrace,” he said.

June 1, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – Blue states are ramping up plans to move male convicts who identify as women to female prisons despite recent reports of sexual assault by gender-confused men behind bars.

Last week, Maine lawmakers advanced LD 1044, a bill mandating that prisoners be housed in facilities based on “gender identity.” A section of the bill entitled “gender affirmation” states that inmates must be treated “irrespective of anatomy or physique” for housing and “search procedures.” The Maine Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety approved LD 1044 by unanimous vote last Tuesday.

Maine’s push to eliminate sex-specific prisons comes amid a mass integration of biological males into female correctional facilities in California with little regard for sex offender status.

Since California overhauled prison rules last year, more than 260 gender-confused inmates have put in requests to switch facilities, Breitbart reported in April. Virtually all of the requests have come from men seeking to be placed with women, and none of them have been declined under the law, which, as in Maine, does not take anatomy into account.

Eleven men, some of them rapists or murderers, already have been placed in Central California Women’s Facility, the largest female-only prison in the United States, according to World News Group

A similar situation has unfolded in Washington state, where a whistleblower recently told local news that a male prisoner raped a women upon arriving at a prison in Pierce County.

“He is a proven sexual predator, having committed multiple crimes against women, yet the state of Washington had no problem moving him into a women’s facility and housing him with the most vulnerable in our population,” the whistleblower, a prison employee, reportedly said.

Women’s Liberation Front (WoLF), a pro-abortion feminist group that opposes transgender prison transfers, has since sued to uncover prison records about gender-confused male inmates in Washington. While a state judge has prevented the full release of the records, documents obtained by WoLF show that a rapist indeed had been placed with female prisoners in the state.

“The DOC records also confirm that there are prison infraction records and PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) records against several men who are currently housed in women’s prisons,” the organization revealed

Other states pushing forward with broadly unpopular “gender identity” transfers include Connecticut and Massachusetts, World News Group said, as well as New Jersey, which moved a biologically male inmate to a female facility in Pennsylvania last week.

Reports of sexual assault of women by men in prison have been reported in various places in recent years, including Illinois and the United Kingdom, as liberals increasingly institutionalize LGBT ideology in criminal justice systems. Transgender-identifying men, who are significantly overrepresented among British sex criminals, have been reported to have raped both prisoners and prison officers in the U.K.

Bp. Strickland stands with Father Altman: ‘It’s more dangerous to stay silent’

Strickland says that he will continue to speak up for any shepherd of the Church who is unafraid to teach the truth.

June 1, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — In this episode of The Bishop Strickland Show, Bishop Joseph Strickland of Tyler, Texas, voices his support for Fr. James Altman, who was asked by his bishop to resign two weeks ago.

His Excellency notes that he will continue to stand with Altman not because of the opinions he expresses, but because “he’s teaching the truth of the Gospel,” and promoting Catholic teachings. The bishop states that it is for this reason, the preaching of moral doctrine and truths, that Altman is being targeted, even by some in the Church.

A day after Altman told his congregation in a Pentecost Sunday homily that Bishop William P. Callahan had requested his resignation, Strickland tweeted in support of the Wisconsin priest.

Strickland says that he will continue to speak up for any shepherds of the Church who are “taking the stance of the truth and willing to put themselves at risk.” He points out that even though we live in a dangerous world where orthodox Catholic voices are silenced, he believes that “it’s more dangerous to stay silent.”

In this week’s show, Bishop Strickland also discusses how the media, business, and entertainment industries do not value the body of each individual. He calls it a great “tragedy for humanity today,” because the culture does not value the body as a creation and gift worthy of “glorifying God through it.”

Nickelodeon show Blue’s Clues has drag queen teach children about LGBT pride parades

Blue’s Clues & You! recently featured an animated pride parade, narrated via song by drag queen Nina West.

June 1, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — Nickelodeon took another major step toward the sexualization of children and their recruitment into cultural activism recently with a segment of the long-running preschool-aimed show Blue’s Clues that featured a song about an LGBT pride parade and all the variety such events entail, sung by a drag queen.

The show’s latest iteration, Blue’s Clues & You!, continues the original format of a cartoon dog named Blue being “guided” by the audience to various clues, thereby helping small children learn how to identify and put together shapes, objects, etc. It is rated TV-G in the United States (meaning suitable for all ages), and more than a third of its viewers are below age five.

Yet despite — or perhaps because of — the youth and innocence of its target audience, Blue’s Clues & You! recently featured an animated pride parade, narrated via song by drag queen Nina West. The song runs through various “nontraditional” family structures adorned with numerous variants of the rainbow LGBTQ+ pride flags, all with a refrain of “they love each other so proudly” or a similar phrase.

The floats are described as, in order:

  • This family has two mommies
  • This family has two daddies
  • These babas are non-binary
  • Trans members of this family
  • Some people choose their family
  • Ace, bi, and pan grown-ups you see
  • All families are made differently
  • This house is a family of kings and queens
  • Allies to the queer community

The song ends with a declaration that “love is love is love, you see, and everyone should love proudly,” with West wishing Blue a “Happy Pride Month,” which occurs in June. Additionally, thoughout the video, the animated West can be seen holding a microphone bearing the clenched fist logo popular among Black Lives Matter (BLM) and other far-left groups.

The segment is a step further from a brief pro-LGBT message in an alphabet song the show ran in February, which included the entry “P is full of pride!” as the stylized letter was flanked by eight different “pride” flags, representing non-white LGBT, asexual, lesbian, bisexual, nonbinary, genderfluid, intersex, and pansexual pride.

Both clips appear intended to, at a minimum, get children to ask their parents what the flags and terms mean, forcing families into discussions for which parents may feel their children are too young, as well as setting up potential conflicts with Blue’s Clues’ endorsement of homosexuality and gender-fluidity versus parents’ own values.

Promoting homosexuality and gender-fluidity is nothing new for kids’ television

In 2018, the final season of Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time depicted a lesbian kiss, and its Steven Universe featured a lesbian wedding. Other recent examples of “children’s” or “all-ages” shows to incorporate LGBT content include PBS’s Arthur, Cartoon Network’s Clarence; Netflix’s Voltron: Legendary Defender and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power; Nickelodeon’s The Legend of Korra and The Loud House; the Disney Channel’s Star vs. The Forces of Evil; Amazon’s Danger & Eggs; and even the preschool-aimed Disney cartoon Doc McStuffins.

Last year, Nickelodeon drafted its iconic character Spongebob Squarepants into a Twitter message celebrating June as pride month. The official social media account for PBS’s long-running Sesame Street shared a pride message, as well.

This past March, Nickelodeon went so far as to host far-left pro-abortion Democrat Vice President Kamala Harris as a “champion of kids and family issues” during its annual Kids’ Choice Awards.

67 US bishops fail to halt brother bishops in tackling problem of pro-abortion politicians receiving Communion

The U.S. Conference of Catholic bishops will go ahead with plans to discuss 'Eucharistic Consistency.'

June 1, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — The U.S. bishops conference (USCCB) will go ahead with its plan to discuss “Eucharistic Consistency” at its meeting this month — despite a group of 67 bishops (three of them cardinals) pressing in a letter for the matter to be taken off the agenda.

USCCB president Archbishop Jose Gomez stated in a May 22 letter addressed to all U.S. bishops that a proposed “document on the Eucharist” will be discussed at the June 16-18 virtual General Assembly.

“As you will note, the focus of this proposed teaching document is on how best to help people to understand the beauty and mystery of the Eucharist as the center of their Christian lives,” the Los Angeles Archbishop wrote in the letter.

Gomez said that any vote at the upcoming meeting will not be to approve a final statement, but “only whether drafting of a text may begin.”

“If approved, the Doctrine Committee will develop a text. From there, the Conference’s usual process of consultation, modification, and amendment will take place as the document is presented for consideration at a future Plenary Assembly,” the letter states.

The letter comes in the wake of a group of 67 bishops writing to Gomez on May 13, asking that discussion on the matter of reception of Holy Communion be taken off the agenda for the upcoming meeting. The letter originated from the Archdiocese of Washington headed by Cardinal Wilton Gregory. Gregory stated last November that he would not “veer” from the path of allowing President Biden to continue receiving Communion, as Biden did when he was vice president. The initiative was principally organized by Gregory and Cardinal Blase Cupich of Chicago, reported The Pillar. Joining Cardinals Gregory and Cupich in signing the letter was Cardinal Sean O’Malley of Boston. Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York had also signed the letter, but withdrew his name after the letter had been sent.

“Having now received the May 7, 2021 letter from His Eminence Luis F. Cardinal Ladaria, SJ, Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, we respectfully urge that all Conference wide discussion and committee work on the topic of Eucharistic worthiness and other issues raised by the Holy See be postponed until the full body of bishops is able to meet in person,” the group of bishops state in their letter.

The letter was referring to a May 7 letter from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith to Archbishop Gomez, advising that any forthcoming policy on giving Holy Communion to pro-abortion politicians who call themselves Catholic, such as President Joe Biden, may become a “source of discord” for the country’s episcopate and would unfairly target “only one category of Catholics.” While the CDF’s letter will likely slow down the bishops in addressing the problem, it did, nevertheless, provide a rough outline for how the bishops could address the problem, involving “two stages” of dialogue before taking concrete steps to “witness to the grave moral responsibility of Catholic public officials to protect human life at all stages.”

Ladaria’s letter also called for a “true consensus of the bishops on the matter” prior to any concrete steps being taken.

The letter from the 67 bishops stated that the “high standard of consensus among ourselves and of maintaining unity with the Holy See and the Universal Church as set forth by Cardinal Ladaria is far from being achieved in the present moment.”

“Moreover, as the Prefect’s sound theological and pastoral advice opens a new path for moving forward, we should take this opportunity to re-envision the best collegial structure for achieving that,” the letter added.

San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone called the letter from his brother bishops “totally unacceptable.”

“I’m really alarmed at this move. We are following our conference procedures. I’m very bothered by [this letter],” he told The Pillar in a May 26 interview.

“The administrative committee voted overwhelmingly to put this on the agenda for the June meeting,” he said. “I know Archbishop Gomez is committed to following the procedures as we agreed on them. I think this is totally unacceptable.”

Cordileone said that some bishops signed the letter without realizing what it was about and later withdrew their support for it.

“I know two bishops and I’ve heard there are others, who agreed to sign it and then later realized exactly what this was about and are upset, and have withdrawn support,” he said.

Cordileone also suggested that many of the signers of the letter are auxiliary bishops who don’t have any say when it comes to policy matters at the USCCB.

“I know they say they have [around] 70 bishops who signed, but many of those bishops are auxiliaries in the dioceses of the main protagonists of this letter,” he said.

In a May 1 Pastoral Letter that sent shockwaves around the U.S. episcopacy, Archbishop Cordileone stated that Catholic politicians who “reject the teaching of the Church on the sanctity of human life and those who do not seek to live in accordance with that teaching should not receive the Eucharist.”

“It is fundamentally a question of integrity: to receive the Blessed Sacrament in the Catholic liturgy is to espouse publicly the faith and moral teachings of the Catholic Church, and to desire to live accordingly,” he wrote. “If you find that you are unwilling or unable to abandon your advocacy for abortion, you should not come forward to receive Holy Communion. To publicly affirm the Catholic faith while at the same time publicly rejecting one of its most fundamental teachings is simply dishonest.”

The matter of applying Catholic teaching when it comes to Holy Communion for politicians who claim to be Catholic while championing the deaths of pre-born babies through abortion has acted as a dividing line for the U.S. bishops. Some say that such a ban would amount to a “weaponization” or “politicization” of the Eucharist. Many more point out, however, that such a ban is required by Church teaching, and is necessary to protect the sacrament, to avoid scandalizing the faithful, and to call the sinner to repentance.

The Catholic Church holds that the bread and wine consecrated by a priest at Mass become the body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus Christ, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity. St. Paul warns the Corinthians that those who partake of the Holy Eucharist in an “unworthy manner” will be “guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord.”

The Catholic Church teaches (Code of Canon Law, can. 915) that Catholics who are “obstinately persevering in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to holy communion.” According to a 2004 memo issued to the U.S. bishops by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, the former prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith who is now Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, a Catholic politician who is “consistently campaigning and voting for permissive abortion and euthanasia laws” manifests “formal cooperation” with grave sin and must be “denied” the Eucharist.

Archbishop Gomez, in his May 22 letter to all U.S. bishops, attached a draft of a proposed document by the USCCB Committee on Doctrine on the topic of “Eucharistic consistency within the wider context of Church teaching on the Mystery of the Eucharist.”

“In light of recent surveys, it is clear that there is a lack of understanding among many Catholics about the nature and meaning of the Eucharist. This teaching document will address the fundamental doctrines concerning the Eucharist that the Church, as a whole, needs to retrieve and revive,” the committee’s proposal to draft a formal statement on the matter reads.

“This includes the call to all the faithful for ongoing conversion, moral transformation, and missionary discipleship,” it adds.

The proposed draft lays out a plan for addressing the matter that includes three parts. The first part deals with “real presence,” “Sacrifice,” and “Healing.” The second part deals with “Unity,” “Beauty,” and “Identity.” The third part deals with Moral transformation, “Eucharistic Consistency,” and “Missionary Discipleship.”

Regarding Eucharistic Consistency, the proposed draft states: “A person should examine himself, and so eat the bread and drink the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body, eats and drinks judgment on himself (1 Cor 11:28-29).” It adds the following note: “The nature of eucharistic communion and the problem of serious sin.”

Bombshell: Fauci wrote in 2012 that benefits of gain-of-function research ‘outweigh the risks’

Gain-of-function research involves intentionally strengthening viruses to better study their potential effects.

WASHINGTON, June 1, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — White House coronavirus adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci acknowledged in 2012 that controversial “gain-of-function” research carried the “remote” possibility of triggering a pandemic, but argued the benefits would “outweigh the risks,” according to remarks newly unearthed as worldwide COVID-19 deaths near 3.6 million.

Last month, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) confronted Fauci during a Senate hearing over the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH’s) role in funding gain-of-function (GOF) research — which involves intentionally strengthening viruses to better study their potential effects — at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Such research could have given birth to COVID-19.

Fauci insisted that his department, the National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Diseases (NIAID), “never” funded any such research. Paul then referred to the NIAID’s grant to the nonprofit EcoHealth Alliance “to study bat-based coronaviruses in China,” including “gain-of-function” research, which in turn funded the Wuhan research. Fauci then claimed the grant recipient assured them at the time that GOF work would not be done with the money.

Now, Weekend Australia reports that Fauci actually argued in an October 2012 piece for the American Society for Microbiology that GOF research was worth it, despite knowing the risks.

“In an unlikely but conceivable turn of events, what if that scientist becomes infected with the virus, which leads to an outbreak and ultimately triggers a pandemic?” he wrote. “Many ask reasonable questions: given the possibility of such a scenario — however remote — should the initial experiments have been performed and/or published in the first place, and what were the processes involved in this decision?”

“Scientists working in this field might say — as indeed I have said — that the benefits of such experiments and the resulting knowledge outweigh the risks,” Fauci declared at the time.

Late last month, Republican members of the House Intelligence Committee released a report finding “significant circumstantial evidence” that COVID-19 spread from a leak at the Wuhan lab, including “clear signs” that the U.S. government “may have funded or collaborated in Gain of Function research” at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. “The U.S. Government must also provide a full accounting of any American cooperation with the Wuhan lab’s coronavirus research, including the support of these projects through U.S. Government funds,” the report declared.

These revelations come after Democrats and the mainstream media spent much of the last year assailing as a “conspiracy theory” the notion that COVID-19 could have leaked out of a lab. Only in recent weeks have they begun acknowledging the theory’s legitimacy.

Fauci’s potential role in funding the research that may have given rise to COVID-19 is only the latest black eye for the divisive public-health official.

In February 2020 he said there was “absolutely no reason whatsoever to wear a mask” in the United States; by July, he was suggesting that Americans wear not only masks, but goggles and face shields. To this day he continues to tout the importance of masking, despite multiple studies indicating their ineffectiveness.

Critics have also faulted Fauci for floating the idea of requiring Americans to carry “certificates” documenting their immunity to COVID-19 and suggesting that handshaking should be abolished but sex with strangers remains alright if “you’re willing to take a risk.”

‘Broad consensus’ among Canadian premiers to develop ‘proof of vaccine credential’

‘A broad consensus emerged out of the discussion between First Ministers on collaborative efforts to develop a proof of vaccine credential to enable international travel based on sound principles.’

OTTAWA, Ontario, June 1, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — The Prime Minister of Canada’s office has claimed that a “broad consensus” has been reached among the nation’s premiers working to create “a proof of vaccine credential” system for travel.

“A broad consensus emerged out of the discussion between First Ministers on collaborative efforts to develop a proof of vaccine credential to enable international travel based on sound principles, including respect for provincial and territorial jurisdiction and privacy of health information,” said a news release based on a callout of a meeting between Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the nation’s premiers held last Thursday.

Allison Kindle Pejovic, a lawyer for the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF), told LifeSiteNews that the Trudeau office’s statement is “concerning,” as it does not provide the public with confidence that “travel restrictions and potentially other lockdown measures will be lifted without a vaccine passport system in place.”

“Canadians have a Charter-protected mobility right to enter and leave the country, which is not subject to any qualification that Canadians undergo invasive medical procedures,” said Kindle Pejovic.

The meeting with Trudeau and the premiers included Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs Dominic LeBlanc, as well as Chief Public Health Officer of Canada Dr. Theresa Tam. It mostly focused on Canada’s COVID-19 response, but Trudeau stated that Canada could be “fully vaccinated by September.”

Meeting notes also indicate that the First Ministers “looked to the future and discussed how to safely reopen the economy,” as more Canadians “get vaccinated.”

“Highlighting the reopening plans that many provinces and territories have released, the Prime Minister and premiers spoke about next steps to ensure Canada is prepared to adjust border measures when it is safe to do so,” reads the news release.

In Canada, health is under the full authority of the provinces, meaning any such national “vaccine passport” program would need the buy-in of all provinces.

Canada’s Liberal government under Trudeau has to date not said with certainty one way or another whether it will implement a national COVID-19 “vaccine passport” system in Canada.

Trudeau’s latest remarks from the First Ministers meeting, however, is a sign that his government is one step closer to implementing some form of a “vaccine passport” for Canadians.

“Such a requirement would be wholly unnecessary, totalitarian, and not in accordance with a free society,” Kindle Pejovic countered.

In late February, Trudeau said that there were “pros and cons” to COVID-19 “immunity passports.”

In early March, Canada’s Health Minister Patty Hajdu said the government is “certainly working on the idea of vaccine passports” with its fellow G7 partners.

In late April, Trudeau said his government was working on “certificates of vaccination” for travel with its allies, saying they are to be “expected.”

Thus far, no premier in Canada, including Conservative ones in Alberta, Ontario, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, have publicly spoken out against the idea of so called “vaccine passports.”

Vaccine passports” are a “blatant violation of one’s personal autonomy”

In speaking with LifeSiteNews, JCCF lawyer Kindle Pejovic said that any requirement of a “vaccine passport” to allow Canadians to travel is a “blatant” infringement of one’s personal sovereignty.

“The requirement to have a vaccine passport to travel or to engage in other Charter-protected activities such as gathering or associating with others is a blatant violation of one’s personal autonomy that is not in accordance with the principles of fundamental justice,” said Kindle Pejovic. “It is also a worrisome violation of Canadians’ Charter-protected privacy rights.”

Currently, no Canadian province has implemented any type of “vaccine passport,” however, some have apparently started the process of rolling programs out.

In early May, LifeSiteNews reported that the Canadian province of Manitoba under its Conservative Premier Brian Pallister may be looking into creating a type of COVID-19 vaccine record card enabled by QR code, which could be used as a sort of digital “vaccine passport,” according to a source who works with the government.

In May, as well, the province of Quebec began to send as “electronic proof” a vaccination confirmation in the form of a QR code to those who had received a COVID-19 jab.

In April, the JCCF released a powerful video highlighting concerns surrounding COVID-19 “vaccine passports,” and the mandatory vaccinations being touted by some provincial governments.

Canada has in place one of the most oppressive travel quarantine requirements in the world. The rules mandate that all travelers entering the country by air stay at a government approved COVID-19 site for three days upon arrival — at their own expense.

The three-day stay is mandated even if someone produces a negative COVID-19 test before boarding their flight from the place of origin. Producing a negative COVID-19 test as a condition of being allowed to board a plane bound for Canada has been mandatory since January.

Travelers are also mandated to take another test upon arrival, despite the questionable accuracy of PCR tests.

Crossing Canada’s border has been severely limited for well over a year to what is deemed non-essential travel. Bans to specific countries and regions (India and Pakistan) are in place until at least June 21.

As it stands, the border between Canada and the United States could fully open by the end of June. However, Trudeau recently said he is not in a hurry to re-open the border to non-essential travel. He also stated that at least 75 percent of Canadians would need to take a COVID-19 jab before the border would re-open.

Health Canada has authorized four COVID-19 injections for adults, all with connections to abortion. All of them have been associated with severe side-effects such as blood clots, rashes, miscarriages, and even heart attacks in young healthy men.

In Canada, vaccines are not mandatory at the federal level. Some provinces — such as Ontario and New Brunswick — have made certain vaccines mandatory via legislation, with a few exceptions, for children to attend public schools.

The idea of a so called “vaccine passport” has been blasted by the Canadian Civil Liberties Association (CCLA). The group said it has “flashed red and yellow lights at any effort by a Canadian government to mandate public disclosure of private health care information.”

Teacher suspended for refusing to lie to students that a ‘biological boy can be a girl’

‘I will not affirm that a biological boy can be a girl and vice versa because it’s against my religion. It’s lying to a child, it’s abuse to a child, and it’s sinning against our God.’

LEESBURG, Virginia, June 1, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) — A public school teacher has been placed on administrative leave for daring to inform the county school board at a public meeting that its gender affirmation policies damage children, and constitute child abuse.

At a Loudoun County, Virginia, Public School Board (LCPS) hearing last Tuesday, elementary school teacher Byron “Tanner” Cross explained he shared the board’s concern for students who struggle with gender dysphoria, but strongly disagreed with the policies and methods prescribed by the LCPS.

“I am speaking out of love for those who suffer with gender dysphoria,” said Cross. “‘60 Minutes’ this past Sunday interviewed over thirty young people who transitioned, but they felt led astray because of lack of pushback or how easy it was to make physical changes to their bodies in just three months. They are now detransitioning.”

“I love all of my students, but I will never lie to them regardless of the consequences,” continued Ross. “I’m a teacher, but I serve God first, and I will not affirm that a biological boy can be a girl and vice versa because it’s against my religion. It’s lying to a child, it’s abuse to a child, and it’s sinning against our God.”

Two days after his presentation, the LCPS Board sent Cross a letter saying he was being placed on administrative leave “pending an investigation of allegation that [he] engaged in conduct that had a disruptive impact on the operations of Leesburg Elementary School.”

Cross is now restricted from LCPS buildings and grounds and banned from attending school-sponsored activities and extracurricular activities.

Teachers forced to violate their beliefs

Attorneys with the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) shot off a letter to LCPS on Ross’ behalf, explaining that LCPS’ policies “would force teachers to violate their beliefs by requiring them to address students with their chosen pronouns rather than the ones consistent with their biological sex.”

“Public schools have no business compelling teachers to express ideological beliefs that they don’t hold, but it’s beyond the pale to suspend someone simply for respectfully providing their opinion at a public meeting, which is what such meetings are designed for,” said ADF Senior Counsel Tyson Langhofer, director of the ADF Center for Academic Freedom. “This isn’t just about a pronoun; this is about endorsing an ideology. The school favors certain beliefs, and it wants to force Tanner to cry uncle and endorse them as well. That’s neither legal nor constitutional, and neither was the school’s move to place Tanner on leave.”

“Immediately suspending an employee and launching an investigation for engaging in First Amendment-protected expression, creates an atmosphere of fear and is intended to send a message to Mr. Cross and other teachers that they must toe the line or face the consequences…,” the ADF letter explains. “The First Amendment does not countenance such retaliation. We demand that you immediately (1) rescind the suspension, (2) reinstate Mr. Cross so that he can return to class on Tuesday, June 1, (3) remove the suspension letter from his file, and (4) refrain from any future retaliation against protected speech.”

Local Democrats target Cross’ supportive pastor

After defending the embattled teacher during a sermon on Sunday, Cross’ pastor was targeted by the Loudoun County Democratic Committee, demanding that he recant his “inflammatory remarks.”

“What are we to do?” asked Cornerstone Chapel Pastor Gary Hamrick during a church service on Sunday. Should we “throw our arms up and surrender and retreat and let our country and our county and our kids be taken over by progressive, liberal, Marxist ideology?”

“We need to be prepared,” continued Hamrick.

“There will be people who will attack us, label us, dismiss us, try to cancel us,” warned the pastor, “but to be passive is to be complicit.”

“The school board, some of them, are not doing their duty to protect, let alone educate, our children,” said Hamrick. “They are subjecting them to sexually explicit materials … and they are already talking about introducing [a] racially divisive curriculum. They are emotionally abusing our children by perpetuating the lie about gender confusion when they affirm pronouns that are contrary to biology, reality, and the beautiful design of God.”

“So, they need to be held accountable and it’s time to step up,” he added.

Later in the day on Sunday, the Loudoun County Democratic Committee (LCDC) issued a searing statement condemning Pastor Hamrick.

“The Loudoun County Democratic Committee was extremely disheartened to hear that one of our community’s religious leaders made inflammatory and insidious remarks about several Loudoun elected officials during a service at Cornerstone Chapel this morning,” began the LCDC statement.

“In his Sunday, May 30th sermon, Pastor Gary Hamrick took to the pulpit to accuse six Loudoun County School Board members of ‘emotional child abuse,’ opening his chapel’s atrium to political campaigning, and invoking the name of God to incite political action,” continued the LCDC.

“We are deeply concerned about the consequences of such rhetoric, having witnessed a recent rise in threats to the safety of the Loudoun School Board members. Furthermore, this irresponsible accusation of child abuse minimizes and tarnishes the people and organizations that seek to protect our children,” claimed the local Democrat organization.

“We call on Pastor Gary Hamrick to recant his allegations due to the libelous and inflammatory nature of the remarks,” demanded the LCDC, suggesting that the pastor’s remarks were “unfounded” and that “statements such as these not only hurt our community that he is meant to serve but have dangerous ramifications for the incitement of violence.”

June 1, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — An apostolate devoted to fostering Catholic fatherhood is holding Eucharistic processions across the United States this month to promote “the heroic role of fatherhood,” and has called on the faithful to help organize more.

Catholic Father’s Day, sponsored by EWTN and other Catholic organizations, has announced processions in several states, including Wisconsin, Michigan, Texas, and California. The group holds Eucharistic processions every June — the month dedicated by the Church to the Sacred Heart of Jesus — “to inspire Catholic men to their great and noble call as Catholic fathers.”

“The Catholic Father’s Day movement has been founded by a large network of Catholic laymen from around the country,” according to the website. “The idea is simple: gather Catholic fathers and their families together once a year in June to renew their commitment to the heroic call to be Catholic fathers and to give glory to God the Father, to proclaim their commitment to Jesus Christ through Eucharistic processions, to draw down the Holy Spirit to strengthen men in faith and to seek the intercession of St. Joseph, the patron saint of the Church, Fathers and Families.”

The events take on unique significance during the Year of St. Joseph, the Catholic’s Father Day organization said. “Since God the Father Almighty created the first man, He has called men to the heroic role of fatherhood, men who sacrifice themselves to lead, protect and provide for their wives and children,” they said. “With the Catholic Church’s celebration of the Year of St. Joseph, it is a great time to inspire Catholic men to their great and noble call to be Catholic fathers.”

The organization notes that a major reason why “something is desperately wrong in the world” is a lack of “sacrificial fathers.” “One key reason there is chaos and suffering is that men and women have lost sight of the God-given purpose of men to be sacrificial fathers, men who are protectors and providers for their families, who lead their families to God.”

Catholic Father’s Day calls on laymen to help plan processions and offers a guide to organizing the events, in addition to other resources about the movement and Catholic fatherhood.

“Our playbook steps you through building your team, organizing your event and getting your event online on this website,” Catholic Father’s Day says. “We ask you to download and review the playbook right now, along with the templates, and prayerfully consider taking the lead for your parish, city or state.”

US embassy at the Vatican displays homosexual pride flag

Homosexual acts are considered grave sins by the Catholic Church, whose center is the Vatican. It has also taught for millennia that pride is the worst of the seven deadly sins.

VATICAN CITY, June 1, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — The United States Embassy to the Holy See is flying a colorful flag this month, but it’s not Old Glory. Today the U.S. Embassy to the Vatican announced over Twitter that it is celebrating “Pride Month” by exhibiting the bright rainbow stripes of the gay liberation movement.

Tweeting a photo of the flag hanging from the balcony of its building in Rome, an Embassy representative wrote, “The U.S. Embassy to the Holy See celebrates #PrideMonth with the Pride flag on display during the month of June. The United States respects the dignity and equality of LGBTQI+ people. LGBTQI+ rights are human rights.”

Not only are homosexual sex acts considered grave sins by the Catholic Church, whose earthly leader Pope Francis is also the monarch of Vatican City. The Catholic Church has also taught for millennia that pride is the worst of the seven deadly sins.

The U.S. Embassy to the Holy See is not itself in Vatican City, but in the same compound as the U.S. Embassy to the Italian Republic on the Aventine Hill in Rome, near the exclusive Via Veneto. Nevertheless, the choice to fly a flag representing sexual licence in the face of the Vatican may seem undiplomatic.

American Catholic children's author John McNichol told LifeSiteNews that he believes flying the pride flag is a blatant show of disrespect for the Catholic Church.

“I am thoroughly disgusted. In my opinion, given the Catholic faith's stance on homosexual activity, such an action has less in common with attaining and promoting equal rights for people than it does a slap in the face to the Catholic faith for its stances,” McNichol stated via social media.

“It is, regrettably, an action typical of the current American administration's hostility to authentic Catholicism,” he continued. “What is most troubling is that the minions of the Democratic party now feel comfortable in giving the proverbial finger to the Vatican. I cannot think of another group or nation who would be so blatantly targeted and openly disrespected for its views or policies. Is the Biden administration going to fly the flag of Amnesty International, Free Tibet, or other such symbols at the American embassies in China? Methinks not …”

Additionally, a former Canadian ambassador told LifeSiteNews that the U.S. Embassy’s intended audience is not the Holy See but the folks back home.

“Modern diplomacy is increasingly a hall of mirrors, in which the idea is to reflect approved messages back at the home audience,” David Mulroney told LifeSiteNews via social media.

“Just as Chinese Wolf Warrior diplomats craft their messages for the leadership in Beijing, American, Canadian, British and other ‘progressive’ diplomats are aiming their activities at their fellow progressives back home,” he continued. “The host country, in this case the Holy See, merely provides an exotic backdrop.”

Mulroney, a career diplomat, was Canada’s ambassador to the People’s Republic of China between 2009 and 2012.

Currently there is no American ambassador to the Holy See. After Callista Gringrich stepped down from the post in January of this year, diplomat Patrick Connell began to serve as the interim Chargé d’Affairs. Connell had served as Deputy Chief of Mission since July 2020.

Meanwhile, Twitter users have been wondering if American embassies in countries where Muslims form the majority of the population will also fly the homosexual pride flag.

“Is the embassy in Saudi Arabia hanging a pride flag?” asked a pseudonymous man identifying as a Catholic and former American soldier.

“Try do it in Saudi Arabia and see what happens,” urged Franz Mendelssohn.

“The United States has no respect for the religious convictions of Christians,” tweeted Gary Lyles before “Rasser”, a “libertarian conservative,” corrected him, tweeting, “The Biden administration.”

TALLAHASSEE, June 1, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – Florida became the latest state to protect women’s sports for actual women Monday, as Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a new law that will exclude biological males who claim transgender status from competing with the opposite sex in sex-specific athletic programs.

The Fairness in Women’s Sports Act had been proclaimed dead by opponents after being shelved by Senate Republicans with just days left in the legislative session. But Republicans revived the measure at the end of April by attaching it to a charter school bill.

“Athletic teams or sports designated for females, women, or girls may not be open to students of the male sex,” the new law reads. “For purposes of this section, a statement of a student’s biological sex on the student’s official birth certificate is considered to have correctly stated the student’s biological sex at birth if the statement was filed at or near the time of the student’s birth.” Female athletes affected by violations can sue for damages.

“In acting to defend women’s sports in Florida today, Governor Ron DeSantis has solidified his reputation as a fearless conservative who will face down attacks from the woke elite in order to do what’s right for his constituents,” said American Principles Project president Terry Schilling, who joined DeSantis at the bill signing ceremony. “This is exactly the quality which voters are so desperately looking for in their national leadership.”

“When we began working on this issue over two years ago, very few Republicans were interested in standing up for female athletes,” Schilling continued. “Many were fearful of the boycott threats from woke corporations and bad publicity from the leftist-dominated media. But by joining Florida to a growing coalition of states that are moving to explicitly protect a fair playing field for female athletes, Gov. DeSantis has sent a message to the woke elite: attack us at your peril. While economic boycott threats might have worked against a single state, the strength of many state leaders standing together to defend women’s sports is certain to neutralize the left’s favorite playbook.”

Florida is now the eighth state with similar language on the books.

LGBT activists claim it’s “discriminatory” to reserve female competitive sports for actual females, and conservatives argue that forcing girls to compete against boys deprives the former of recognition and scholarship opportunities that were originally instituted to advance girls academically and professionally. Further, scientific research indicates that testosterone suppression does not eliminate all the physical advantages that come with male physiology.

In a paper published by the Journal of Medical Ethics, New Zealand researchers found that “healthy young men (do) not lose significant muscle mass (or power) when their circulating testosterone levels were reduced to (below International Olympic Committee guidelines) for 20 weeks,” and “indirect effects of testosterone” on factors such as bone structure, lung volume, and heart size “will not be altered by hormone therapy”; therefore, “the advantage to transwomen (biological men) afforded by the (International Olympic Committee) guidelines is an intolerable unfairness.”

This is only the latest in a string of actions DeSantis has taken that have pleased conservatives, such as banning left-wing critical race theory from public schools, forbidding “vaccine passports” that would coerce Floridians into taking a COVID-19 vaccine against their will, pardoning residents who violate local COVID-19 restrictions, increasing penalties for rioting, limiting social media giants’ power to deplatform their political enemies, and signing an election law that strengthens signature verification for mail ballots and bans ballot harvesting. This record has made DeSantis a top contender for the GOP’s 2024 presidential nomination in the minds of many conservatives.

UNICEF report says pornography is not always harmful to children

'UNICEF’s report ignores the vast body of research demonstrating the harms of pornography to children. By ignoring the real harms pornography can have, UNICEF is playing roulette with children’s health and safety.'

WASHINGTON, D.C., June 1, 2021 (C-Fam) — A UN agency is again immersed in controversy for a recent report suggesting there is no conclusive evidence that children exposed to pornography are harmed.

The report published by the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) addresses how government policy can be used to protect children from harmful, abusive and violent content online.  Its conclusion is based on a European study of 19 EU countries that found in most countries, most children who saw pornographic images were “neither upset nor happy.” In fact, the report UNICEF relies on says that 39 percent of Spanish children were happy after seeing pornography.

Porn fighters disagree with the UNICEF data. “UNICEF’s report ignores the vast body of research demonstrating the harms of pornography to children. By ignoring the real harms pornography can have, UNICEF is playing roulette with children’s health and safety,” said Lisa Thompson, vice president and director of the Research Institute at the National Center on Sexual Exploitation.

Thompson’s organization, which provides expert research to inform policy decisions to end the sexual abuse and exploitation of women and children, has found that pornography can be a central driver of this abuse.

“Mainstream pornography contains horrific sexual abuse, rape, incest, racism – all of which children should not consume,” continued Thompson, and “UNICEF’s milquetoast assessment of the impacts of hardcore pornography on children does nothing to challenge the political narrative that pornography is benign, and as a result, puts children in harm’s way.”

The 2020 EU Kids Online Study concluded that some children and young people “intentionally seek out sexual content” for a variety of reasons and that seeing sexual images “might also represent an opportunity” to provide answers to questions about puberty and sexual identity. The study encouraged “seeing the nuances” which lead children to seek out and view sexual content online.

UNICEF says any efforts to block children from accessing pornography online might infringe on their human rights. UNICEF bases this claim on an expansive interpretation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

UNICEF also claims that asking for age-verification to access pornography online may deny children access to what it calls “vital sexuality education.” It should be noted that critics charge that “comprehensive sexuality education” is pornographic and harmful to children.

UNICEF’s release of this report comes just days after the U.S. Agency for International Development announced its renewal of its longstanding partnership with UNICEF, committing an additional $300 million in direct program funding. The U.S. is UNICEF’s largest government donor with 2020 funding reaching almost $994 million in humanitarian and development programs.

UNICEF generally has joined the feminist push at the United Nations in calls for abortion. The children’s agency was founded to help displaced children after the Second World War. Critics say UNICEF has strayed far from its founding vision, and that this call for children’s access to pornography under the guise of human rights and sex-ed underscores this change. At one time, the Holy See stopped its annual symbolic donation to UNICEF.

New study: Mask mandates did not slow spread of COVID

The study, which included the total number of cases in 50 states from March 2020 to March 2021, focused on the efficacy of wearing masks during major and smaller surges.

May 31, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — A new study has concluded that there is no correlation between mask mandates and slowing the spread of the coronavirus. Instead, the study published May 25 (but not yet peer-reviewed) pointed out that virus containment strategies need further research.

The study was completed by biology professor Damian D. Guerra from the University of Louisiana and Biochemistry professor Daniel J. Guerra. The study, which included the total number of cases in 50 states from March 2020 to March 2021, focused on the efficacy of wearing masks during major and smaller surges. The findings were identical.

The two professors found, “Mask mandates are not predictive of smaller or slower shifts from low to high case growth … Our main finding is that mask mandates and use are not associated with lower SARS-CoV-2 spread among US states. 80% of US states mandated masks during the COVID-19 pandemic. Mandates induced greater mask compliance but did not predict lower growth rates when community spread was low (minima) or high (maxima).”

“We infer that mask mandates likely did not affect COVID-19 case growth, as growth rates were similar on all days between actual or modelled issuance dates and 6 March 2021,” they continued.

Not only were masks found not to stop the spread of COVID, but the risks were not taken into consideration when the mandates were instituted.

The risks of wearing masks, the study noted, include:

  • Prolonged use of wearing a mask (more than four hours per day) promotes “facial alkalinisation and inadvertently encourages dehydration, which … can enhance barrier breakdown and bacterial infection risk.”
  • Masks “increase headaches and sweating and decrease cognitive precision.”
  • “By obscuring nonverbal communication, masks interfere with social learning in children.”
  • “Masks can distort verbal speech and remove visual cues to the detriment of individuals with hearing loss; clear face-shields improve visual integration, but there is a corresponding loss of sound quality.”

The only positive result of wearing masks, the researchers said, was that they “may promote social cohesion as rallying symbols during a pandemic.”

The study concluded that “further research is needed to better understand the risks of long-term daily mask use.”

This most recent study is only one of the many voices pointing to the problems associated with the use of masks.

In November 2020, a major study published by the Annals of Internal Medicine [that] found no statistically significant difference in COVID-19 cases between mask-wearers and non-mask-wearers.

The Danish randomized controlled trial was the first in the world to test for the efficacy of face masks to prevent wearers from contracting the coronavirus.

1.8% of those who were asked to wear masks were infected with the virus according to antibody testing, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), or hospital diagnosis, while 2.1% of the control group tested positive.

In March, Dr. Joseph Mercola reported on a recent online study published using data from Germany’s first registry recording the experience children are having wearing masks. Parents, doctors and others can enter their observations; the registry had recorded use by 20,353 people as of October 26, 2020.

The data on 25,930 mask-wearing children included 24 health issues. The report side effects like “irritability (60%), headache (53%), difficulty concentrating (50%), less happiness (49%), reluctance to go to school/kindergarten (44%), malaise (42%) impaired learning (38%) and drowsiness/fatigue (37%).”

Currently, according to a state by state update published by the AARP, 17 state governments within the U.S. still require masks to be worn by those who are not fully vaccinated.

“To date, 22 states that had orders broadly requiring residents to wear masks in public places have lifted them,” the update states. “Eleven states did not impose mask mandates at any point during the pandemic. Several states, including Florida, Texas, Arkansas and Iowa, have moved via legislation or executive to prevent cities, counties and school districts from instituting their own mask rules.”

June 1, 2021 (JCCF) – The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms will be in Federal Court today in Toronto, on behalf of eleven clients who are challenging the government’s policy of forcing returning Canadians into a federally approved hotel for quarantine at their own expense. The Applicants: Barbara Spencer, Sabry Belhouchet, Blain Gowing, Dennis Ward, Reid Nehring, Cindy Crane, Denise Thomson, Norman Thomson, and Michel Lafontaine, Steven Duesing and Nicole Mathis are represented by the Justice Centre’s Sayeh Hassan and Henna Parmar, who will be in court for three days arguing quarantine hotels are unconstitutional and a violation of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Effective midnight on January 7, 2021, the federal government made an interim order via Transport Canada that proof of a negative COVID laboratory test result must be presented to an airline prior to boarding a flight to Canada. The test must be conducted within 72 hours of the traveller’s scheduled time of departure to Canada. A second announcement made on February 12, 2021 forced Canadians to have a second test on arrival and be quarantined three days in a federally approved hotel at their expense, while waiting for the results.

The new mandatory quarantine took effect on February 22, 2021. In a letter sent shortly afterward, the Justice Centre demanded that the Trudeau Government stop the practice immediately and release anyone they may be currently holding in federal quarantine. Shortly afterward the Justice Centre commenced litigation in Federal Court on behalf of its clients.

“The forced detention of returning Canadian air travellers in federal facilities is arbitrary, unnecessary, and totalitarian,” states Justice Centre Litigation Director, Jay Cameron.

“These unconstitutional hotel quarantines were imposed on Canadians without parliamentary scrutiny or debate by a government that has repeatedly demonstrated it has little respect for the Charter or the democratic process. Canadians across the country are anxiously waiting for the judiciary to impose limits on government overreach of this type as has happened repeatedly in other countries around the world.”

Media admit it: They’ve got ‘egg on their faces’ over their cheap dismissal of Wuhan lab-leak theory

The media may have gotten what they wanted in its continuous smog of false stories, debunkings, ignorings, and lies to Get Trump, but it's done so at a steep price: its credibility.

1 June, 2021 (American Thinker) – It's a little late, but according to the Daily Mail, the media are finally admitting it:

Liberal media reporters and pundits admitted over the weekend they were wrong to dismiss the Wuhan lab leak theory just because it was espoused by former President Donald Trump.

Mainstream reporters had pushed back at the idea that COVID-19 may have originated in a virology lab in Wuhan, China, and openly ridiculed the idea as Trump spoke openly about it in the early days of the pandemic.

But now, those same reporters have admitted that it is possible that the virus came from a lab leak — as more scientists and political officials openly question the virus' origins.

'I think a lot of people have egg on their face,' ABC News' Jon Karl told Martha Raddatz Sunday morning.

That makes them look kind of stupid, more stupid than they realize, given that people have known about this for months, and long suspected it was happening.  Those who stated early that it may well have been lab-created had been dismissed by this bunch as conspiracy nuts.

The reporters and commentators who did this weren't reporting news; they were advancing a political "narrative," acting like the 27-year-old reporters who know "nothing," as Obama-era spinmeister Ben Rhodes once contemptuously said of them.  They were boobs in the service of charlatans, and yes, they do have egg all over their faces.  They can wear that as a badge of honor in the service of Democrats and show it to all their crummy little friends.

The whole COVID fiasco has been an amazing string of bad reporting revolving around the press's crazed desire to Get Trump.

The press lied about the Chinese origin of the virus, using it as bait to hammer home on television screen after television screen that the president was a racist.  The cover-up of the origins of this virus was useful indeed for that agenda, but the truth went untold.  They even allowed a killer clown like New York's Gov. Andrew Cuomo to claim that the virus emerged from Europe.  That, too, was a lie, and nobody called him on it.

Speaking of Cuomo, who the heck among this bunch exposed Cuomo, and four other leftist governors, for seeding nursing homes with COVID patients, the most insane and lethal move in the entire pandemic?  That government-mandated atrocity killed tens of thousands and was characterized by unusual cruelty.  Loved ones were prevented from seeing their elders even in their last moments, forcing them to die alone, to somehow "protect" them, yet untested hospital patients from COVID wards were let in, ostensibly on non-discrimination grounds, all to cough, wheeze, and breathe all over the most COVID-vulnerable people on the planet.  Only the New York Post kept on this story and got to the bottom of it.  If it weren't for the Post, Cuomo would have gotten away with it and gone on to more fawning media and millions more in book deals.  Today, he stands exposed as an ogre.

There was continuous nonsense about masks — don't wear one, wear one, why isn't Trump wearing a mask?  Wear two of them, wear one, masks don't do much.  That was the latest word from a study in Sweden, and it shows the extent to which the press just followed Fauci, the sorry National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director, glowingly described, again and again, as America's foremost expert on infectious diseases, despite spending much of his career as a medical bureaucrat, ignoring the real experts who know about these things, and whose research is reflected accordingly.  A couple of them in Kentucky found that mask mandates did nothing to slow the spread of COVID during high-transmission periods.  They used actual evidence on the scientific method, based on states with and without mask mandates.

And speaking of experts who know what they are talking about, let's get into the media's treatment of Dr. Scott Atlas, M.D., a Stanford neuroradiologist and President Trump's late-appointed COVID czar, who was continuously demonized for stating the basic facts about how human immunity works, including the uselessness of lockdowns and mask mandates.  He was continuously reported to be a nut because he followed science rather than the politically motivated Get Trump agendas of the CDC and the NIAID of Fauci.  Nobody in the press bothered to look for the truth.

The press also lied about hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin as effective treatments for COVID, some really big lies, which cost untold lives as sick patients were denied this treatment, all to Get Trump.  As I wrote here on May 5, 2020:

When President Trump brought up hydroxychloroquine as a promising potential treatment for COVID-19, a huge upsurge of negative political publicity followed from it.  It was strange stuff, because up until then, the treatment, which had been safely used to treat malaria, lupus, and arthritis, had been seeing promising results for COVID-19, too.  Yet the condemnations from all sides poured for weeks.  It wasn't just the political establishment blasting it; it seemed to be the medical establishment, too.  That raises questions as to whether financial interests might be involved here.

It started with the press engaging in its customary contrarianism against Trump when he called the treatment "promising."  The logic was simple: If Trump liked it, then it had to be bad.

How's this for a slanted headline and report from NPR, which ran on April 10?

COVID-19 Patients Given Unproven Drug In Texas Nursing Home In 'Disconcerting' Move

Last night, the real story was obtained by Fox News host Laura Ingraham, and it's quite a different picture.  It isn't out on YouTube yet, so I will describe it:

A Galveston-area doctor, Dr. Robin Armstrong, who was in charge of a nursing home, found himself in the middle of the worst health care nightmare anyone can imagine: a COVID-19 outbreak, on a home full of elderly people, and he was in charge.  Odds were big they were going to die.  We already know what the coronavirus did to a nursing home in Washington State, and we have subsequently learned what inserting COVID-19 patients into unwilling nursing homes in New York City did to those populations.  Coronavirus + Nursing Home = Death Sentence.  That was what he was looking at.  In desperation, the Texas doctor decided to treat his threatened patients with hydroxychloroquine in a last-ditch effort to save them...and he called it right.  Unlike those other places, his patients got well.  His informed judgment saved the lives of a building full of nursing home patients, and he reported no bad side-effects such as heart problems brought on by the treatment.  He would have been justified to take such risks because his treatment was triage, and the alternative was the death sentence.  But there wasn't even that.  His patients lived, they regained their fragile health, and there were no stacked bodies or chaotic medical scenes in his part of Texas on his watch.

That's frankly a story of heroism, and the brilliant medical man should be celebrated for the huge number of lives he saved.

Instead, all he got were trashy stories with scare headlines like NPR's, painting him as some kind of evildoer.  Bad medicine, unproven treatment, everybody get scared.

It was worse than just this with hydroxychloroquine — people were demonized for saying it had worked for them.  A young black legislator in Michigan who said she was cured of COVID through its use, asking for it after hearing about it from President Trump, was met with a Democrat threat to expel her from the party.

Doctors who advocated for it, such as Dr. Stella Immanuel, who treated 350 patients with it and saved all of them, were censored on Facebook and other Democrat organs.

Chris Cuomo, incidentally, was someone she accused of getting the treatment himself while loudly claiming that it did not work, a pretty potent indicator of media bias if true, and even if not true, a pretty significant indicator of culpable ignorance.

As I wrote here last July:

Immanuel, whose passionate testimony beginning at about the 5:30 point of the UGE video said that she herself treated 350 COVID patients with HCQ, same as doctors in Asia, Africa and Europe do, and not one died. Her described bedside manner, telling patients 'you're not going to die' must have been immensely assuring to many a patient with a terrifying diagnosis associated with so much death, based on her sureness of knowledge. And she's got science on her side. Just three weeks ago, a huge medical study confirmed HCQ's efficacy. A previous "study" by the famed British medical journal Lancet debunking HCQ got retracted because it was found to be junk. Aside from the studies, these doctors spoke from their own medical experience, the things they saw with their own eyes on the frontlines of the COVID pandemic, and sought to tell of.

And for that, they got censored. YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook removed all evidence of their testimony from their sites, leaving only smaller sites with the evidence they gave, effectively silencing them.

Things were just as bad for those who tried to speak the truth about ivermectin and its efficacy.  Two days ago, American Thinker editor-in-chief Thomas Lifson wrote about how India destroyed its runaway COVID problem by making this vital medicine easily available.  Instead of keeping patients on ventilators for weeks in the hospital and letting the patients flood in, overwhelming the system, ivermectin was given out, and people got well.  When Trump was in office, the media demonized the treatment.  When Trump was out, a New York Times big shot admitted that it was the most important story of the year, which it pretty well is.  That's right: the press ignored the biggest story of the year because, in its mind, Getting Trump was the most important narrative of the year.

There are probably a lot of lies I am forgetting in this, but that's because COVID has been a miasma of lies, ending with Joe Biden claiming credit for the vaccine development when it was President Trump who deserves that honor.

It's disgusting.  The media may have gotten what they wanted in its continuous smog of false stories, debunkings, ignorings, and lies to Get Trump, but it's done so at a steep price: its credibility.  It lied about all sorts of things to this end — from the Russia collusion hoax to the continuous evidence-free claims that there's no such thing as election fraud, with the corollary claim that any move to stop election fraud is Jim Crow–style voter suppression.

It's crap, and there's no reason to believe them when they make such claims, given their record.  In time, with audits going on, the truth will come out.  Then it will be time for another round of egg on their faces, and it lingers ugly.  How much egg must they get before people stop paying attention entirely?

Correction: Fauci runs the NIAID, not the NIH.

Masks! What are they good for?

June 1, 2021 (American Thinker) — The CDC finally said that vaccinated people can ditch the masks. Where I live (in a free red state), a lot of people promptly did. Now, at stores, nobody asks whether those without masks are vaccinated. We trust them to make their own decisions. However, a lot of people are still wearing those skimpy, often dirty rags on their faces. It turns out that they should ditch them, too, because a new, comprehensive study found that masks made no difference to the Wuhan virus's spread.

Because I'd come from California, with its many wildfires, I had N95 masks on hand when the virus started. We wore them, and they may well have stopped a few virus particles from passing through. Of course, the fact that my limited supply meant that we also re-wore them and, about once a week, washed them with liquid detergent suggests that their protection was dubious at best.

Compared to our fellow Americans, we were well protected. Whenever we ventured out, we saw people wearing the equivalent of t-shirts or napkins on their faces. They had them under their noses, they touched them constantly, they shuffled them repeatedly in and out of pockets and bags, and they generally rendered them completely ineffective at stopping viruses. My feeling all year was that the masks were pure theater.

I was right. A study from the University of Louisville, one that initially believed that masks did help, looked at CDC data found — and discovered that masks were useless when it came to stopping COVID's spread:

Randomized control trials have not clearly demonstrated mask efficacy against respiratory viruses, and observational studies conflict on whether mask use predicts lower infection rates. We hypothesized that statewide mask mandates and mask use are associated with lower COVID-19 case growth rates in the United States.

Methods We calculated total COVID-19 case growth and mask use for the continental United States with data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation. We estimated post-mask mandate case growth in non-mandate states using median issuance dates of neighboring states with mandates.

Results Case growth was not significantly different between mandate and non-mandate states at low or high transmission rates, and surges were equivocal. Mask use predicted lower case growth at low, but not high transmission rates. Growth rates were comparable between states in the first and last mask use quintiles adjusted for normalized total cases early in the pandemic and unadjusted after peak Fall-Winter infections. Mask use did not predict Summer 2020 case growth for non-Northeast states or Fall-Winter 2020 growth for all continental states.

Conclusions Mask mandates and use are not associated with slower state-level COVID-19 spread during COVID-19 growth surges. Containment requires future research and implementation of existing efficacious strategies.

Perhaps if everyone had first disinfected his hands and then placed high-end, single-use N95 masks snugly over his face, the data might have been different. What really happened was that people lost a year of seeing each other's faces. In addition, they suffered from low oxygen intake, they developed rashes, they damaged their dental health, and they wasted a lot of money on foolish face coverings.

The worst thing that happened was to children. Babies need to see human faces to develop. Little children were inhibited from playing and leading normal lives. Empathy dies a little when you cannot see someone's face. (Burqas are a very effective part of dehumanizing women in the Islamic world.)

But the mask Nazis were inflexible. In New Jersey, a school nurse was suspended when she rightly called the mask mandate “child abuse.” If you doubt her, pay attention to her experience:

I had a kid come down to me. She was wearing a mask. She was crying. She had vomited in class…I pulled her mask off. It was full of vomit. Her mask was full of vomit.

Child abuse, indeed.

We've read about the leftists who refuse to lose the masks, whether because they're willing victims of Stockholm syndrome or because they're making political statements. Think of those masks as the equivalent of the rattle on a snake. These are people you should avoid. Everyone else should ditch those face diapers. Perhaps they can be used as hammocks for hamster cages and dolls' houses.

Evidence from around the world suggests COVID vaccines are leading to more deaths and infections: French medical doctor

June 1, 2021 (Global Research) – This article by Dr. Gérard Delépine was first published on May 25, in French on the Global Research French language website – mondialisation.ca

This article demonstrates unequivocally that mortality and morbidity has increased dramatically as a result of the vaccine. The incidence of COVID positive cases has also increased.

“And everywhere they have been followed by a dramatic rise in new infections and mortality for several weeks or months.”

Dr. Delépine’s careful analysis of the pre and post vaccine trends for 14 countries around the world

The latest official figures for the European Union, which are rarely acknowledged by the mainstream media, indicate that from late December 2020 to  May 22, 2021:

  1. 12,184 deaths and 1,196,190 injuries following injections of four experimental COVID-19 shots (Moderna, Pfizer-BionTech; AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen). Serious injuries are of the order of 604,744 (i.e more than 50% of total injuries)

  2. The Pfizer-BioNTech mRNA gene-edited vaccine has resulted in the largest number of fatalities: Total reactions for its mRNA vaccine Tozinameran: 5,961 deaths and 452,779 injuries to 22/05/2021

While Pfizer has the largest numbers of deaths and injuries, the EU Commission has largely placed the blame on AstraZeneca.

Ironically, not only does Pfizer have a criminal record with the US Department of Justice for “fraudulent marketing”, the EU Commission has chosen Pfizer BioNTech as its “Reliable Partner” for the production of 1.8 billion doses over the next 3-4 years, in a  contract which is currently under negotiation.

Two months ago, we tried to alert people to the paradoxical results of the COVID-19 vaccines by publishing the pre- and post-vaccination mortality curves for Israel and Great Britain, [1] which already showed that these vaccinations were followed by a considerable increase in contamination and mortality lasting 6 to 8 weeks after the start of vaccination. [2]

Since this period, vaccination campaigns have spread worldwide even to countries where COVID was not present. And everywhere they have been followed by a dramatic rise in new infections and mortality for several weeks or months[3]

How many deaths and severe accidents will it take for executives, WHO, health agencies FDA, EMA among others, to look at the proven results of this experimental pseudo-vaccination in the real world and derive the results from it?

Reminder of the proven facts published by the WHO

We present below the epidemic curves of the most vaccinated countries as published by the WHO (with our comments in red).

ASIA

In Nepal, a country of 28 million inhabitants

The vaccination campaign, using the Chinese vaccine and the Indian AstraZeneca, began at the end of January 2021. Until that point, after ten months of the epidemic, the country had 270,092 confirmed cases and 2,017 deaths and the daily average of new cases  amounted to 350.

Four months after vaccination began, the epidemic has exploded with a current average of 8,000 new cases daily. As of May 22, Nepal had 497,052 confirmed cases (+ 90%) and 6,024 deaths (+ 200%.)

Image

In Thailand, a country of 70 million inhabitants

The vaccination campaign using the Chinese vaccine began in the first week of March. So far, since the start of the epidemic, the country had only recorded 25,000 infected and 83 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Image

Since the start of vaccination, in 2 months, the number of recorded infections has multiplied by 5 (123,066 on May 22) and that of deaths by 9 (735 on May 22).

In Cambodia, a country of 27 million inhabitants

Image

In Mongolia, a country of 3.3 million inhabitants

Image

SOUTH AMERICA

In Colombia , a country of 50 million inhabitants

A country severely affected by the disease, the epidemic began to decline sharply until the start of the vaccination campaign on February 18, 2021.

Since then, the number of daily infections has quadrupled and daily mortality has multiplied by 3.

Image

Chile, country of 18 million inhabitants

Vaccination began on December 24 and a total of nearly 17.1 million doses of the vaccine have been administered to less than 20 million people. But despite the highest vaccination coverage rate in South America and harsh confinements, the number of daily infections and the number of deaths remain close to triple what they were before the start of the vaccination campaign.

Image

In Brazil, a country of 217 million inhabitants

Vaccination began on January 18 as weekly mortality stabilized around 7,000

Image

THE MIDDLE EAST

In the United Arab Emirates, a country of 10.5 million inhabitants

Image

In Kuwait, a country of 4.2 million inhabitants

Image

EUROPE

In Hungary, a country of 9.8 million inhabitants

The vaccination campaign, which began at the end of February, was followed by a sharp increase in weekly contaminations, which rose from 25,576 on February 25 to 62,265 a month later, before gradually falling back to the pre-vaccination level.

In two and a half months, Hungary has doubled its figures of recorded infections (400,000 to 800,000) and deaths (from 14,000 to 29,000) reached after 11 months of the epidemic.

Image

In Romania, a country of 20 million inhabitants

The vaccination campaign began at the end of December at a time when the epidemic was waning, and according to official data from May 4, 2021, Bucharest has the highest vaccination rate in the country with 31.2% of its eligible population vaccinated. But shortly after the start of vaccination, the number of daily infections and mortality increased.

Before vaccination began, and after ten months of the epidemic, Romania had 618,000 infected and 15,000 dead. After five months of the vaccination, she counts twice as much.

Image

Monaco, country of 38,000 inhabitants

Had only 3 deaths before vaccination and 32 since vaccination began.

Image

Gibraltar, 34,000 inhabitants

Vaccination of the entire population was followed by an 800% increase in mortality (from 10 to 94).

Image

What can be deduced from the official data?

The Israeli and British Pyrrhic victories [4]

Vaccination advocates claim vaccinations in Israel and Britain have been successful, as current, daily contaminations and mortality are low.

But these apparent successes correspond in fact to the disappearance of a large part of the people at risk (the “harvesting”) achieved by vaccination and to the spontaneous regression of the disease observed also in countries with little vaccination.

Vaccine “harvesting”

In Israel and Britain, the mortality attributed to COVID increased sharply for 4 to 6 weeks, equaling all the deaths in 2020. The COVID per vaccination mortality curve in Israel is demonstrative.

Image

The “harvest” of 1,404 people in January and 949 others in February, the equivalent of a full year of COVID mortality without a vaccine (the year 2020) sharply reduced the number of Israelis at risk, resulting in de facto probably a decrease in the apparent risk of mortality in the coming year, in this age group.

But along with this decrease in its original target, the virus has mutated to attack other segments of society and especially younger age groups.

In November 2020, data from the Israeli Ministry of Health revealed that Israel had detected 400 cases of the coronavirus in children under the age of two. In February 2021, that number increased to 5,800.

The same “harvesting” has been observed in Great Britain. As COVID-19 threatens only a small part of the population (the elderly with comorbidities), the peri-vaccination disappearance of a large part of this population at risk (as much as the deaths of the year 2020), mathematically reduces mortality observed, at least transiently.

Image

Since the British vaccination campaign, the average mortality per million inhabitants in Great Britain (934 per million) is more than double that of the Netherlands (411 per million).

The natural regression of the epidemic

The natural regression of COVID-19 also explains the drop in mortality, as shown in the comparison between the highly-vaccinated Great Britain and the very poorly-vaccinated Netherlands.

Image

The mortality curves per million inhabitants follow the same temporality in these two neighboring countries. That of the United Kingdom suffers from a much higher peri-vaccination peak, the current mortality in the Netherlands is slightly higher, reflecting the absence of the English “harvest.”

The current vaccination, accelerator of the epidemic and mortality?

The review of the main countries which have adopted broad vaccination shows that in real populations, generalized vaccination behaves more as an accelerator of the epidemic and of mortality than as a prevention thereof. [5]

In all highly vaccinated countries, the mortality recorded during the two months after vaccination is equal to or exceeds that of the whole of 2020.

Lack of solid experimental data

The tests of these vaccines were insufficient, without hindsight, because they are in progress. The first results are promised for early 2023.

None of them pointed out the possibility of a possible increase in contamination and mortality, which fortunately appear to be transitory. They are not very informative on the more or less serious side effects, such as the frequency of early vascular accidents in the days following vaccination, or the multiplication of miscarriages and menstrual disorders in women, or the possiblilty of further side-effects in the medium and long term.

The race for accelerated vaccination at all costs could ultimately be ineffective for popular confidence in all vaccinations. There’s no point in running, you have to start on time, La Fontaine would have said. But new billionaires like the CEO of Moderna probably don’t think like the turtle in the fable who has already amassed a fortune.

The future is early treatments mastered by field physicians

Transparent studies are essential to understand the mechanism of these transient worsenings of the epidemic after vaccination and to deduce possible preventive measures, if a new outbreak occurs.

Especially since the future, after this vaccine hecatomb, remains very uncertain. The leaders who have violated the bases of medicine and democracy by imposing express vaccination without respecting the usual procedures for the safety and effectiveness of drugs placed on the market, all find themselves promising their populations early treatment for future waves, thus proving, like Boris Johnson, that they no longer believe in the vaccination they have imposed. [6]

Medicine should not be decided by policy

Health policy should no longer be imposed or guided by often inaccurate simulations (and their displays sometimes influenced by policies, as English scientists admit), but should be based on respect for democracy and clinical experience.

All data must be transparent like the figures of the Sentinels Network, which reflects the number of real patients consulting doctors for clinical signs. Such data is much more reliable than the perennial infections figures based on unreliable PCR tests.

Freedom to care and be careful

Above all, doctors must be allowed to treat their patients freely with all the means at their disposal without bureaucratic diktat, and this from the beginning of the disease, as in any other pathology. From the beginning of the epidemic, early treatments based on antibiotics, macrolides, hydroxychloroquine, artemisia, vitamins D and C and zinc, then ivermectin were all known and were all demonized by the doctors in the service of the producers of new expensive drugs such as remdesivir, and above all, future vaccines.

The political choice to prohibit the free choice of treatment by the authorities has led in several countries of the world, including France, to numerous deaths, at least some of which were preventable. The ongoing trials will give voice to the families of the victims without repairing the irreparable loss of a loved one.

Essential moratorium

Totalitarianism, systematic censorship and persecution of opponents and the suppression of fundamental freedoms in science, medicine and economics only lead to more or less long-term catastrophes, including for those responsible for them.

It is high time to go back to the proven facts and to their critical examination. In all countries, experimental vaccinations were followed by an increase in contamination and mortality attributed to COVID-19 and the appearance of mutants. As long as the phenomenon has not been elucidated, a moratorium on the COVID vaccines is essential and urgent.

Award-winning photographer gives up everything to become a Catholic religious

Canon Elvir Tabaković was an internationally-known photographer but decided to study to be a priest.

June 1, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — If you needed a sign that God is still in control of His Church, have I got the story for you. In this powerful episode of The John-Henry Westen Show, I interview Canon Elvir Tabaković. Though today he is on his way to becoming a Catholic priest, Canon Elvir was actually an internationally-known, award winning photographer who got paid to travel the world. All before turning 25! Why did he give up his jet-setting life and follow Christ?

Born in Croatia in 1986, Canon Elvir was raised in a mixed Catholic-Muslim family. His father, a Muslim, didn’t know his mother had him baptized as an infant. Religion was “kind of taboo” in his family, he told me. But his mother and Grandmother raised him Catholic. At the age of 9, he wanted to become a priest.

When he turned 12-years-old, he completely left the faith. He said he began listening to punk rock music and got involved with computers and communist ideas. He believed that modern science proved religion was “primitive.” When he went with his classmates on a trip to Rome at age 15, he didn’t want to step inside St. Peter’s Basilica because he “really hated the church.”

Canon Elvir eventually got into photography so he could improve the websites he was working on. After high school, he began working professionally with many high-end clients, including the biggest car magazine in Croatia. He soon found himself being sent across the world — Spain, Germany, Latin America — to take photographs and write about his experiences. In one year alone, he traveled more than 85,000 miles. “It was the fulfillment of my dream,” he told me.

As he entered his mid-20s, he said he “realized there must be something more.” “I didn’t have tragedies in my life…but my heart was empty…I was very curious to see if the spiritual world really exists.”

God indeed showed Canon Elvir that the “spiritual world” does exist. Thanks to several “demonic” encounters, Canon Elvir said he began to realize that God was real. His mother, he said, had been praying like St. Monica did when she was praying for St. Augustine. In December of 2011, after visiting Međugorje — which he admits is controversial — he became “a new man.”

“God gave me the perspective of eternal life so I could see this life is, in the face of eternity, so insignificant to attach ourselves to anything which is passing." Only God can fulfill your heart, he told me.

Canon Elvir started attending mass every day and praying the rosary. He went to confession regularly and attended retreats, asking God to show him what to do.

“I asked Him to reveal to me His will…and He just made it very clear…not a voice, but a thought, ‘I created you to become a priest,’ and that was it…I didn’t need any time to think about it…I called my mother and said ‘Jesus has called me to be a priest, I’m going to a monastery.’”

Canon Elvir now attends school at the Angelicum in Rome. He still takes photographs but does so to glorify the beauty that God has created. “I am just using a talent God gave me…In the end I am a useless servant.” “Everything earthly is passing, it just goes away very quickly.”

His advice for young people is that they should not be afraid. “Our Lord has conquered the world. Mary is so mighty Satan can't even pronounce her name…just follow what Our Lord told us, and you’ll be fine…don’t care so much about what other people think because they can’t save you. Only God can save you.”

June 1, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – “‘Pride’ month is absolutely ridiculous,” declared Christian Walker, the homosexual son of NFL great Herschel Walker, and ardent supporter of President Donald Trump during the 2020 presidential campaign.

“Some of us are horrified by Pride Month,” tweeted Walker emphatically. “You don’t celebrate your rights by marching down the street naked at a Pride Parade.”

“You don’t battle stereotypes that your promiscuous and can’t hold down a proper relationship by having sex behind dumpsters and parading around in a rainbow flag,” said Walker.

“LGBTQ is nothing more than a Marxist cult, separating people based on their sexual orientation or their gender identity,” he proclaimed.

“People are more than who they’re sexually attracted to,” he continued. “They are their character, they’re their skill set … stop these left wing totalitarian techniques of separating people based on a facet of their identity.”

“You are not oppressed when every multinational corporation is turning their logo rainbow every June,” argued Walker, who explained that the rainbow is actually “God’s covenant never to flood the Earth again. Get a grip.”

Pride parades are an expression of new norms, and you’re supposed to take the kids

Society has undergone quite a transition in just a decade.

June 1, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — In our post-revolutionary world, the entire month of June is now dedicated to massive parades, festivals, and corporate genuflection at the altar of an expanding panoply of sexual diversity. The identity game is booming, and everyone wants in on it. Of course, Pride parades are also fun for the whole family — even Canada’s state broadcaster says that children will see adult nudity at the festivities, but this is a good discussion opportunity (in case you wanted to discuss genitals and where people put them with your kids). Adult entertainment is now for kids.

As such, the animated series Blue’s Clues and You got in on the game with an animated knock-off of RuPaul’s Drag Race, featuring a drag queen singing to children about the many wonders of Pride Parades to the tune of “The Ants Go Marching.” Children are introduced to non-binary animals, transgender beavers, families with two moms, and other floats featuring various exotic aspects of the LGBT movement. This was aired on Nickelodeon, just in case you thought that children’s cartoons were free of indoctrination.

Parents will have to explain terms like “ace,” “queer,” “trans,” “bi,” and “pan,” and also a wide range of flags (because every identity has to have one, what with all the parades, etc.). What parent doesn’t want to explain bisexuality to their children? It’s 2021, and it’s also June.

Meanwhile, investigative journalist Jennifer Bilek reports at The American Conservative:

In 2019 the Spectator journalist James Kirkup asked why so many people and organizations who had no knowledge of or policies regarding transgenderism at the beginning of the decade were now enthusiastically embracing “non-binary” identities and transition. He unearthed a document by Dentons, the world’s largest international law firm, and Thomson Reuters Foundation, a corporate tax law and media behemoth, entitled: “Only Adults? Good Practices in Legal Gender Recognition for Youth.” The November 2019 document was drafted for ILGYO — International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex Youth & Student Organization — to assist in advancing the idea that it is possible for a child to “be transgender.” The Dentons document helps these transactivists persuade children to legally “change their gender” without adult approval.

These heavily politicized entities have the legal and media clout to make these changes. “Trust Law” is Thomson Reuters’ pro bono legal program, connecting the most successful law firms and corporate legal teams around the world with high-impact NGOs. The foundation works to drive systemic change in society. Reuters is fond of titles that drive the newly minted categories of “transgender people” and people with “gender identities.” And now they are selling us transgender children, with their legal guide and their news items.

Yesterday’s insanity is today’s orthodoxy — and if you’re the sort of pre-2014 Neanderthal who doesn’t think that kids should be exposed to this, the #LoveWins crowd is coming for you. Most recently, a P.E. teacher in Virginia was suspended after a speech described by Fox News as “explosive,” in which he stated the previously boring view that he would not “affirm that a biological boy can be a girl and vice versa.” The teacher, Tanner Cross, cited a recent “60 Minutes” special about “de-transitioners” featuring those who regretted their transition.

It should be obvious that saying boys cannot be girls and girls cannot be boys would not have been described as “explosive” fifteen historical minutes ago. In fact, around 2010 it would have been considered explosive to say the opposite. Society has undergone quite a transition in the meantime. Pride parades have their own month now, and they aren’t an act of cultural defiance — they are an expression of new norms, and you’re supposed to take the kids.

In a world full of negativity, believe in and walk by the Light of Christ

We all need a lot of grace to persevere in a most unholy and unchristian age.

June 1, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — In the secular world and in the Catholic Church today, there is, to be sure, plenty of cause for an attitude of negativity. The political trends are ranged against the divine law and the natural law, from which we are receding at warp speed; our shepherds are either asleep on the job, cavorting with wolves, or busy lycanthropizing themselves. I need not go on about the many particular problems that afflict us on all sides. The question always is what we are going to do with the negativity: Will we face it down or let it enter into us, take up residence in us, and dominate us? I can’t help thinking of Denethor in The Lord of the Rings, the steward who gazed into the Palantir and saw the inevitable defeat of the good (which was making a pathetic showing at best) and the irresistible triumph of Sauron — seeing, in short, just what the enemy wanted him to see, and despairing.

On Passion Saturday in the traditional Roman rite, the end of the Gospel reads: “Yet a little while the light is among you. Walk while you have the light, that darkness may not overtake you. He who walks in the darkness does not know where he goes. While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light. These things Jesus spoke, and He went away and hid Himself from them” (Jn 12:35–36).

These verses prompt one to think about how much darkness there is, and where the light is still to be found. Jesus speaks as if the light is available only for a certain time and will then be taken away. But He also implies that those who believe in the light become light themselves. And then He hid Himself.

For me, the Church isn’t primarily about the Church. It’s about union with Christ. In baptism I died and rose with Him; in the Eucharist I receive Him. For me, there is no other reason to belong to the Church except to guarantee life from the Life, light from the Light. The Church gives me access to Him by divine guarantee, and that’s why I’m a Catholic. I’m not a Catholic in order to have access to clergy or even to liturgies; I welcome the (good) clergy and the (good) liturgies because they lead me closer to Him, who is my life and my light.

The Church has been corrupt in her hierarchy in some other ages, too, but we survived those centuries, and periods of renewal followed, ignited by this or that reformer or reforming movement. Not everyone who lived during the dark times got to see the renewal that came later. Human beings generally don’t live long enough to see major changes from good to bad or bad to good, which tend to move at a glacial pace in comparison to a normal lifespan.

Unlike certain reassuring voices out there who think they are “putting things in perspective,” I don’t believe we are passing through just another crisis — and not the worst — among the many crises that the Church of God has had to face over twenty centuries of history. Quite the contrary: I believe we are looking at the historic nadir of the Catholic Church on earth, next to which the Arian crisis of the fourth century or the Protestant revolt of the sixteenth look fairly tame in comparison. Yet anyone living during the life of St. Athanasius of Alexandria could have placed a highly probable bet that Nicene orthodoxy was doomed and would disappear as a matter of course. The same is true now: There are those who are betting that the papacy has perished, or that there’s no chance of recovery; we are doomed. Tradition-loving orthodox Catholics are holding an impossible position; they are a trivial minority; they can be crushed in an instant by the gears of power. That is what our Catholic Denethors see in their internet Palantirs.

But why should we think Satan finally has God “stumped,” has Him backed into a corner from which there is no escape? Do we think so highly of Satan’s power — or so poorly of God’s?

At the end of the day, there are two alternatives: faith or nihilism. For the thinking man, it comes down to these two, and the only goal in life is to become a saint or to die trying.

The saints are madmen, but so are the atheists (e.g., Marx, Nietzsche, Derrida, Dawkins). I would rather cast my lot with the saints. Call it an updated Pascal’s Wager: I would rather take all my chances on the promise of eternal life with Christ than throw away the hope of it for the sake of the temporary and ultimately unsatisfying satisfaction of being a pessimist or skeptic who can look around at the world and say: “That’s right: it’s a gigantic, meaningless mess.” Or: “The Church is a gigantic, hopeless mess. It’s not what it claims to be. Either Christ lied, or He’s abandoned us.” Or: “Christianity is a gigantic system of guilt-driven repression and exploitation by which pastors profit at the expense of the sheep.”

Not long ago I read the biography of a Trappist abbot, Dom Gabriel Sortais, who lived from 1902 to 1963. He had a fiery temperament, was politically involved, was engaged to be married. Then he heard the call to monasticism, dropped everything, and became a Trappist (that is, a member of the Cistercians of the Strict Observance). So far, so good. But then, after his simple vows, he entered into a total darkness, where he could no longer think of God or religion without distaste. He kept making acts of faith. And after three years, the darkness vanished one fine day like clouds giving way to sun. He was shortly after elected abbot of the community at the age of 33, and took up that burden, which he didn’t want. He then entered a second darkness, this time of the virtue of hope. He could not believe that God loved him or wanted him to be in heaven; in fact, he believed that he was predestined to be damned, and nothing could shake this conviction. This darkness lasted much longer than the first, but he kept on with determination, praying simply out of love for God — as he said at the time, even if I’m a sinner and a castaway, God is still good and deserves my love, so I will give him all that I can. His fidelity and love throughout this time of interior misery won the day, and when this darkness was lifted at last, he emerged into a peace and confidence that nothing could ever shake again, in spite of terrific trials.

St. Thérèse of Lisieux suffered a similar dark night at the end of her life: She said “only someone who has passed through a tunnel like this could ever understand what I have gone through.” Other saints have spent years in the absence of any feeling or awareness of God. They kept praying and working as they had done before. The light did not fail them in the end; they became even more “sons of light,” and they went on to see the Light in person — but with this advantage: They had already been purified and needed no purgation. The saints we now revere as paragons of virtue knew massive interior crises while they were in this mortal life. They held on even when they couldn’t see through the fog or the darkness. That’s why they became saints (no one starts out there).

One could look at someone like that and say: “The saints are nuts. There’s no humanly good reason for them to keep believing, to keep hoping, to keep loving, when all is darkness, emptiness, meaninglessness.” And there’s something true about their reaction, for they are madmen. But the nihilists and atheists are madmen, too. In fact, all the most sane people are mad, because they can see that either God exists and therefore gives meaning to everything, including darkness, suffering, abuse, chaos — and this makes them become fools for Christ — or there is no God and life is a sheer absurdity from which the most consistent will liberate themselves by suicide (except that there is no such thing as consistency; any action would be equally pointless).

I have read searing accounts online of the hell through which certain Catholics have been put by abusive clergy. I would not dare give such a victim trite advice: “Chin up, man, it’s not so bad. Forgive and forget. Move on.” No, that would be a new form of cruelty. But if he stops believing or if he stops going to church, what will he find? A Christ beyond the visible Church? A God beyond organized religion? That’s been tried: It’s called Protestantism, which evolved into liberal Protestantism, which collapsed into liberalism plain and simple. No, we interact with God religiously, and we receive and adhere to Christ in and as a body, in and as His Body. We put our faith in Christ, not in the Church; the Church is the means, not the end — the opening, not the destination. We are saved by Him, and we will not be saved apart from Him. That is the basic faith of the Christian. Even in the worst of times, it has a lot to be said for it, especially because, while no one who walks the earth is perfect, there are good, holy, generous, and wise laity, religious, and clergy still in the Church, and there always will be. It is not all a wasteland.

Anyone who is trying to follow Christ will experience trials, just as He promised, and if Christians are serious enough about discipleship, or if they are in a position of leadership, they can be guaranteed to face massive interior crises. The question I have to ask myself — the question you have to ask of yourself — is this: Am I doing what I need to be doing in order to nourish my faith? I heard a priest once say in a homily: “Faith is a like a muscle: it grows stronger when you exercise it, and weaker when you don’t.”

At one point when I was in college, someone recommended to me that I read a bit from one of the Gospels every day, to get to know Christ better, to meet Him anew. It sounds way too easy and simplistic, but there’s much truth in this advice. Going back to what I said earlier, He is the reason I am doing all that I am doing — or at least I want it to be true that He is. And why? “No man has ever spoken like this man!” (Jn 7:46). He’s the only one in the human race, in human history, who seems to know reality through and through — mine, yours, everyone’s, everything’s. If He’s not the real deal, the one worth following, the one worth living and dying for, then nothing is, because nothing else holds a candle up to Him. Or rather, all the other good things are candles, and He is the Light itself from which they are ignited.

I find that reading from just about anywhere in Scripture, and especially praying the Divine Office, has a similar strengthening, focusing, and elevating effect. One comes into contact with the meaning of things, with the origin and end of reality, with the one who says: “I am who am.” The daily contact with God in prayer and spiritual reading does not cause problems to evaporate, burdens to lose weight, or evils to cease; rather, it gives us sight to see through them and past them, capacity to endure until we rest in Him, and a certainty that the world’s evils are finite, temporary, and conquerable. That holds for the evils in the Church, too.

We all need a lot of grace to persevere in a most unholy and unchristian age. Let us pray more than ever for an increase of faith in God, hope in His promises, and love for His goodness — kindled from the burning furnace of charity that is the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
