(LifeSiteNews) — Former Republican Vice President Dick Cheney joined his daughter, former U.S. House Rep. Liz Cheney, declaring that he will vote for Democrat Kamala Harris over Donald Trump in the upcoming election, claiming that the 45th president is a “threat to our Republic.”
While the Cheneys identify themselves as conservatives, by supporting Kamala Harris they are choosing woke-Marxism and identity politics over the U.S. Constitution and inviting the maximal slaughter of the unborn.
“In our nation’s 248-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump. He tried to steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him. He can never be trusted with power again,” Cheney said in a statement on Friday.
“As citizens, we each have a duty to put country above partisanship to defend our Constitution,” the 83-year-old neocon continued. “That is why I will be casting my vote for Vice President Kamala Harris.”
Earlier last week, Cheney’s daughter Liz – one of 10 Republican members of the U.S. House who voted to impeach Trump in 2021 and who was one of just two GOP members who served on the committee investigating the January 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol protest – announced her intention to vote for Harris.
The younger Cheney told a crowd at Duke University that “the danger that Trump poses” is “something that should prevent people from voting for him.”
“I don’t believe that we have the luxury of writing in candidates’ names, particularly in swing states,” Cheney said. “As a conservative, as someone who believes in and cares about the Constitution … and because of the danger that Donald Trump poses, not only am I not voting for Donald Trump, but I will be voting for Kamala Harris.”
Trump: ‘The Cheneys are irrelevant RINOs’
Harris reportedly welcomed the Cheney’s endorsements and President Trump seized the moment to criticize the father-daughter duo.
“Dick Cheney is an irrelevant RINO, along with his daughter, who lost by the largest margin in the History of Congressional Races!” Trump said on Truth Social.
“He’s the King of Endless, Nonsensical Wars, wasting Lives and Trillions of Dollars, just like Comrade Kamala Harris,” Trump continued. “I am the Peace President, and only I will stop World War III!”
“What Liz Cheney did with the Unselect Committee of Political Losers is unthinkable. She and her Unselects deleted and destroyed all evidence and information – IT’S GONE,” he wrote in all caps. “Much of it proved that Nancy Pelosi was responsible for J6 (who) DIDN’T PROVIDE SECURITY.”
“Cheney and the others should be prosecuted for what they did, but Comrade Kamala is even worse!” he concluded.
Perhaps it’s the very real threat of prosecution from a future Trump administration Department of Justice (DOJ) is what has led the Cheneys to support Harris.
Dick Cheney championed same-sex ‘marriage’ before Obama, Biden
Dick Cheney has long betrayed Christian/conservative values, working in the years leading up to the U.S. Supreme Court’s tragic Obergefell decision – which instituted same-sex “marriage” across the country – to convince Republican state legislators to vote with Democrats to institute same-sex “marriage” in their states.
In June 2009 at a National Press Club gathering, Dick Cheney said, “I think people ought to be free to enter into any kind of union they wish. Any kind of arrangement they wish.”
Cheney then qualified his position by saying that the federal government had no role in imposing same-sex “marriage” and that it was an issue that should be decided by the states.
While impossible to quantify, Cheney’s support went a long way to rolling out the red carpet for the institution of the impossible notion of same-sex “marriage.” His championing of same-sex “marriage” predated both Barack Obama’s and Joe Biden’s support by a few years.
‘I was David battling the Cheney Goliath’
In early 2012, as a chaste former homosexual, I spent a few days in Annapolis meeting with as many of my home-state legislators as I could, hoping to bolster their resolve to oppose a pending same-sex marriage bill. It was then that I realized I was David battling the Cheney Goliath.
With the Maryland House vote looming, I stood outside a GOP legislator’s door with whom I had planned to meet – stunned – after word got to me that Dick Cheney was calling wobbly Republican delegates seeking their support for the measure. It was a supremely demoralizing moment, but that’s what it was meant to be for those battling to maintain the immutable definition of marriage.
A few days later, the bill passed by a thin margin with the help of two Republican votes, thanks to the former Republican vice president’s intervention.
The Cheney family, thanks to Dick Cheney’s interference in sovereign state issues, turned their very personal family matter into state and, ultimately, national policy. His meddling emboldened and gave cover to progressives seeking to undo the definition not only of marriage but of family, husband and wife, man and woman, boy and girl.
Cheney helped throw open the door to the contagion of transgenderism, a plague that rushed in upon our youth in the aftermath of Obergefell.
In a 2021 “60 Minutes” interview in which Liz Cheney announced her capitulation to same-sex “marriage” and transgenderism, CBS journalist Lesley Stahl told Cheney that despite her continuing identification as a conservative Republican, “You have become in a way a hero to the liberals.”
Both Dick and Liz Cheney are legit heroes to the woke-Marxist Democrat Party.
