(LifeSiteNews) — British Columbia Conservative leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay is going scorched earth on Premier David Eby’s NDP government. The video, published Tuesday to Findlay’s X account, has to be seen to be believed:

Findlay is clearly sick of the cynical progressive game that Eby is playing. It goes something like this: Progressives launch transformative culture wars, inserting transgender ideology into the school curriculum; insisting that Canada is a genocidal state; demeaning Canada’s Christian heritage. Then, when conservatives point this out, progressives claim that it’s their opponents who are launching a culture war — or better yet, an American-imported culture war. To be a Canadian, you see, is to be progressive.
Findlay, who won the leadership of the BC Conservative race in May on a largely social conservative platform, has clearly gotten sick of this game and decided to go on the offensive. In the two-minute video titled “The NDP’s culture war is a war on British Columbia,” Eby appears to be portrayed as a Soviet general. “British Columbians have been living through the NDP’s culture war for nearly a decade,” the video reads. It then lists the various fronts in Eby’s culture war:
- No action taken when churches were burned down.
- No action taken when statues were torn down.
- They condemn our history as racist (the example provided: the phrase “British Columbians” was termed “offensive”).
- NDP ministers called British Columbians “settlers,” “colonial,” and accused BC of “genocide.”
- Schools have been consumed by “ideological activism” — the featured example being a booklet called “Gender Identity for Kids.”
- Every institution pressured to view people through the lens of race, identity, and historical guilt.
“This didn’t happen by accident,” the video concluded. “The NDP launched a culture war. Now David Eby wants you to believe otherwise. That’s rich. You don’t get to spend years dividing British Columbians, demonizing our history, injecting ideology into every corner of our public life, then blame someone else for the division.”
I agree with all of that, of course. I have spent a decade writing that Canadian conservatives should opt out of the progressive game and go on the offensive by making precisely the points that Findlay’s video is making. Progressives have gotten away with launching a full-scale culture war in Canada with very little pushback; Stephen Harper left their institutions basically untouched, and the Conservative Party, with notable exceptions, has essentially ceded much of this territory until recently.
But — and I hesitate to say this — I’m not entirely sure that an AI-generated video with Eby as a Soviet general is quite going to do the trick. I haven’t voted in a BC election since I moved out of the province 15 years ago, but I strongly suspect that there is a better way to combat Eby’s farcical culture war accusations without an AI video that is rhetorically satisfying but also frankly jarring to watch.
That’s not to say that progressives haven’t tried to pull the same trick. I’m old enough to remember this Liberal gem from 2006, claiming that Stephen Harper was ready to deploy troops into Canadian cities and inaugurate a military dictatorship, or something:
Findlay is a good politician, and her instinct to go on the offensive is the right one. She should hit Eby hard in interviews and force mainstream media coverage by doing so instead. Each of the points cited in that video should get their own video featuring Findlay, backed by copious evidence (and there’s plenty of it available). Eby is lying, and he’s doing it cynically. She should say so, every day, from now until election time.
