FLASHBACK: Presidents Clinton and Reagan used MAGA as a slogan, too

January 25, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) – The ridiculous fuss around the Make America Great Again (MAGA) hats has reached epic proportions. The enormity of the insanity can only be appreciated once you realize that the slogan was first used by President Ronald Reagan and also by Bill Clinton.

It was Clinton, however, who during his wife’s campaign associated the slogan with racism – despite the fact that he himself had used it as a presidential candidate.

Clinton used the slogan in 1991 launching his first presidential campaign. “I believe that together we can make America great again,” he said, as can be verified in this footage.

Wikipedia tells us that “Let's Make America Great Again" was first used in President Ronald Reagan's 1980 presidential campaign.

To no one’s surprise, though, it was former President Bill Clinton who made the false association of MAGA with racism while campaigning for his wife decades later. “I’m actually old enough to remember the good old days, and they weren’t all that good in many ways,” Clinton said at a rally in Orlando. “That message where ‘I’ll give you America great again’ is if you’re a white Southerner, you know exactly what it means, don’t you?”

The thought that pro-life Catholic teens can be vilified by much of the nation simply for donning a hat that has the slogan that Bill Clinton himself used in his presidency is beyond the pale. And the same crowd that is condemning the Covington youth for the MAGA hats are fully supportive of radical and vulgar “P-hats.”

The same folks who are attacking the Covington boys suggest that women can wear whatever they want and it doesn’t mean a thing. Yet when teen youth wear a hat which was the slogan for a president they support it means they are “asking” for the hatred and physical threats and violence they “deserve.” Unbelievable.
