Hey, not that you should watch TV over the holidays, but since you might, here’s a suggestion.

Given the scarcity of good programming on TV these days it’s nice to find a show that is at the same time well produced, captivating and doesn’t majorly offend moral sensibilities.  It’s also a bonus if in some small way the show has some point that jives nicely with traditional morality.

There is such a show, at least in the first season of episodes.  That show is Spielberg’s Terra Nova.  Of interest to pro-lifers, the show’s premiere episode revolves around a family who flouts a population control law permitting only two children per family.

The year is 2149 and the levels of pollution on earth have become unsustainable but a newly discovered rift in time allows for transportation 85 million years in the past to a pristine earth where dinosaurs roam and the new settlers have to make their home.  There is much adventure, suspense and intrigue; however the language is clean and apart from the final episode of the season (which unfortunately had a couple of racy scenes – racy not by modern standards mind you) it is clear of sexually offensive material.

Time travel, excitement, car chases, battles, great graphics and story-telling all minus (for the most part) the junk, and you have a TV show you can let your teens watch and enjoy with you.
