Don’t you just absolutely love it when left-leaning establishments hit the nail on the head in their passionate reactions to child pornography and school shootings?
Take the recent international child-porn bust by Toronto police where 348 child abusers were arrested and 386 kids were saved from reoccurring sexual abuse.
Police Chief William Blair hit the nail on the head.
“There’s no greater responsibility for those of us who have sworn to serve and protect, than the protection of our children,” he said on Thursday in a press conference.
“Exploitation of children is a crime for which law enforcement comes together united, around the world, to do our very best to protect those individuals who can’t protect themselves.”
But don’t you just absolutely hate it when the same left-leaning establishments can’t see that the exact same responsibility, service, and protection are due the unborn?
It reminds me of U.S. President Barack Obama’s reaction to the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting, where he unintentionally encapsulated the very heart of the pro-life argument and unwittingly provided what some hailed as the new blueprint for pro-life activism everywhere.
“This is our first task — caring for our children,” said Obama at a prayer vigil in Newton Connecticut honoring the 20 children and six staffers killed. “It's our first job. If we don't get that right, we don't get anything right. That's how, as a society, we will be judged.”
“And by that measure, can we truly say, as a nation, that we are meeting our obligations? Can we honestly say that we're doing enough to keep our children — all of them — safe from harm?
“Can we say that we're truly doing enough to give all the children of this country the chance they deserve to live out their lives in happiness and with purpose?
“I’ve been reflecting on this the last few days, and if we're honest with ourselves, the answer is no. We're not doing enough. And we will have to change.”
Obama hit the nail square on the head. Imagine if he were pro-life and brought this kind of passion to the defense of the unborn?

In many instances involving harm to children, those on the left “get it right.” They get it right when they react with outrage to children savagely murdered by a crazy gunman. They get it right when reacting to children horrifically abused by the sick and twisted who make, distribute, and consume child pornography.
They get it right because everyone knows deep down that every child should be valued, loved, protected. They get it right because the bloodied and abused children are visible victims whose visible sufferings relentlessly testify to the many ways we all have failed to defend, failed to protect these vulnerable children who depended on us for everything.
All of us need to realize that the beating heart in a mother’s womb is also a child who is worthy of the same passionate outrage and the same call to arms as any other visible child when his or her invisible life is under threat.
Imagine the words of the police chief applied to unborn children: “[We need] to do our very best to protect those individuals who can’t protect themselves.”
Imagine the words of President Obama applied applied in the same way: “Can we say that we're truly doing enough to give all the children of this country the chance they deserve to live out their lives in happiness and with purpose?”
Pray God He gives our leaders a heart to see the unborn as children, and the awesome courage to live it out with conviction in their leadership.
