(LifeSiteNews) — I just wrapped up one of the most powerful interviews I’ve done in a long time.

Professor William Thomas, who sat in the same seminary classes as Pope Leo XIV, is sounding the alarm. A man who knows the Pope personally, who has worked in missions in Peru, Rwanda and Kenya, and who has spent decades defending the Faith, called the current synodal project exactly what it is.

“This movement is a wrongheaded movement,” he said. “It’s not a Catholic movement. In fact, it’s a diabolical movement.”

He was especially blunt about what he witnessed with his own eyes: the massive LGBT pilgrimage that marched through the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica carrying rainbow flags, with homosexual couples holding hands and kissing.

“I saw them going in. I was there and I was horrified,” Professor Thomas told me. “I went to Mario Grech, the cardinal responsible, and I said, ‘I feel very unwell at what I have seen.’ I said, ‘I don’t like this synodal movement at all.’”

He added pointedly, “Sodomy somehow has become a virtue rather than a sin. I mean, what kind of nonsense is this?”

He named the key players driving the agenda — Cardinals Jean-Claude Hollerich and Mario Grech, Sister Nathalie Becquart, Fr. Timothy Radcliffe, Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández, Cardinal Joseph Tobin, Archbishop Paul Martin, James Martin, SJ and others — calling them “all pro-gay, pro-LGBT.”

And he didn’t stop there.

When I asked him about the newly surfaced 1995 photos of then-Father Robert Prevost (now Pope Leo XIV) kneeling in a Pachamama ritual in Peru, Professor Thomas was blunt.

“It was paganism. It is paganism,” he stated.

Professor Thomas has just released a new book, A Catholic Revival versus a Synodal Church. In it, he dismantles the buzzwords that now dominate Vatican documents: empowerment, radical hospitality, inclusion, diversity, listening, discernment, participation, dialog, subsidiarity, and synodal accompaniment.

“None of these words are Catholic words,” he explained. “None of these words are ecclesial words … Inclusion of two groups — women and LGBTQ+ — which is a Marxist inspired movement. And that’s what they mean.”

Please share this clear-eyed warning from someone who knows Pope Leo XIV better than most.
