Wendy Davis not pro-abortion enough, writer claims

Even when the insincerity of pro-abortion politicians is transparent, for them even to pretend to believe that we’d be better off without aborting any children is going to incur the wrath of those who believe there are never enough abortions and to suggest otherwise is verboten. Yesterday I’d thought about mentioning (at least in passing) an entirely phony baloney assurance of Texas gubernatorial candidate and pro-abortion icon Wendy Davis. Without retreating a step from her support for “reproductive health,” she told CNN affiliate KGBT, “The goal that we should have is that we see zero abortions.” This didn’t even qualify […]

Australian euthanasia advocate Nitschke opens Internet suicide clinic

Australia’s Philip Nitschke is Jack Kevorkian, squared, but without our late ghoul’s willingness to put his own freedom on the line for his beliefs. How noxious is Nitschke? Just read Kathryn Jean Lopez’s interview with him from more than ten years ago, in which he said that suicide pills should be sold in supermarkets and available to “troubled teens.” Now, he is set to open an Internet suicide clinic. From the International Business News story: With Independent MP Bob Such’s Ending Life with Dignity bill creating such a huge discussion in parliament, it’s only timely that Australia’s first euthanasia clinic should also be discussed. Dr Philip Nitschke, voluntary euthanasia […]

Belgian Senate will vote on bill to extend euthanasia to children with disabilities on November 26

Euthanasie Stop in Belgium is reporting that the Belgian Senate will vote on the bill to extend euthanasia to children with disabilities on November 26. Earlier reports suggested that the bill might be delayed until after the next election. Insiders recently learned of a political trade-off with the Flanders N-VA party which has enabled the Socialist party to bring this bill to a vote immediately. Currently the Belgian euthanasia law limits euthanasia to people who are at least 18 years old. This unprecedented bill would extend euthanasia to children with disabilities. The Belgian Socialist government is adamant that the euthanasia […]

What’s happening? A quick update on euthanasia and assisted suicide

Excerpts from the latest newsletter from Care Not Killing Alliance Assisted Suicide (Scotland) Bill Independent MSP Margo MacDonald launched her long awaited second attempt to legalise assisted suicide in Scotland, just three years after her last bill was defeated in Holyrood by a massive 85-16 in 2010. 87% of all who made written submissions to the scrutinising committee for that bill were opposed to it, and 64% of individuals and 62% of organisations responding to her own consultation ahead of the current bill also rejected a change in the law. Doctors' opposition The MacDonald bill was immediately met by the British Medical Association restating their opposition to […]

Planned Parenthood Obamacare “navigator” fined for campaign finance violation

From the Burlington Free Press, November 19: The Vermont Office of the Attorney General has settled another campaign finance complaint from the 2010 election. Planned Parenthood of Northern New England has agreed to pay a $30,000 penalty to settle a complaint filed by group known as Let Vermont Vote. The group said Planned Parenthood failed to register its Action Fund as a political action committee and file contribution reports. The complaint also said the PAC had accepted contributions bigger than the $2,000 per donor limit. The Planned Parenthood Action Fund spent $119,437 on advertising that criticized Brian Dubie, the Republican candidate […]

If gov healthcare is killing veterans, what will it do to you?

Back in 2009, I wrote a commentary titled “Veterans First on Health Care.” I argued the government must prove it can handle existing obligations before proposing any further takeover of the health care industry. I interviewed former Congressman Gene Taylor (D-Miss), who I once worked for, and among other things, assisted with Veterans Affairs claims and other military constituent services. Taylor made the point then that “We [government] can’t pay for the promises we’ve already made on health care, and it only gets worse for the next fifty years.” I posed the logical question, “If it cannot handle the challenge […]

Obama gives abortion champion Gloria Steinem Medal of Freedom Award

Among those who have just received the Medal of Freedom from President Obama is Gloria Steinem, who has done as much for advancing abortion-on-demand as any single person in the last half century. In an interview with The Washington Post, she said, “Approximately one in three women in this country needs an abortion at some time in her life”. Aside from the dubiousness of this statistic, note that she uses the term “needs.” Needs? Laura Enriquez has written convincingly on abortion as a preferential, not medically necessary, condition. What is clear is that what passes for “need” in the world of Ms. […]

It’s a Wonderful (Day to Take Your) Life?

Once again, Hollywood has delivered what no one asked for. This time, it’s a sequel to the heartwarming holiday classic, It’s a Wonderful Life. The 1946 Frank Capra masterpiece, about an angel-in-training convincing a suicidal Jimmy Stewart that every life matters, could only be described as “pro-life.” The remake will deliver a much different message. Variety reports: Karolyn Grimes, who played George Bailey’s daughter Zuzu in the original, will return for the sequel as an angel who shows Bailey’s unlikable grandson (also named George Bailey) how much better off the world would have been had he never been born. This […]

Spoon feeding is basic care

An article published in the Vancouver Sun and written by Pamela Fayerman concerning the Bentley – Spoon Feeding case, is reporting on the preliminary hearing in the Vancouver court.  The Euthanasia Prevention Coalition (EPC) requested to intervene in the Bentley case. Later this week, the plaintiffs will argue against the EPC intervention, while our legal team will argue in favour. A three day trial has been set for mid December. The Vancouver Sun (article) reports that the BC government lawyer stated that not feeding Margaret Bentley could constitute criminal charges of culpable homicide. Crown lawyer, Jonathon Penner stated: To the […]

BBC: euthanasia cheerleader

As reported by the BBC today, Journalist, broadcaster and gay rights activist Ray Gosling has died in hospital in Nottingham. My sympathy is with Gosling’s family. However his death revives memories of the time when the BBC’s flagrant promotion of assisted suicide and euthanasia arguably reached its greatest depths. When the former television journalist confessed on BBC’s Inside Out programme on 15 February 2010 that he had taken a pillow and smothered a gay lover with AIDS who was in ‘terrible, terrible pain’ it very quickly became an international news story. But it later transpired, after a police investigation involving 32 officers, […]
