Former Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richard

January 16, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – Abortion giant Planned Parenthood was severely criticized on Twitter yesterday for its brazen, excruciatingly ironic self-promotion on a holiday which commemorates civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

Despite Planned Parenthood’s reprehensible history with black Americans, the abortion giant attempted to co-opt Martin Luther King, Jr. as if its awful history had somehow been erased or forgotten.

“Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. dedicated his life to the idea that racial and economic justice are foundational to our democracy. Today, we honor his courageous vision and radical action — and commit to furthering his dream by continuing the fight for justice. #MLKday,” tweeted Planned Parenthood.

The tweet could not be more hypocritical.

Planned Parenthood was founded by Margaret Sanger who promoted black eugenics.  Sanger regarded blacks as feeble-minded and spoke at rallies of Ku Klux Klan women.

Black activist Star Parker told LifeNews in 2015, “Margaret Sanger is a racist who wanted to end the black population through birth control and abortion. She founded Planned Parenthood. But The Smithsonian, funded by our tax dollars, celebrates this woman, even mentioning her advocacy of eugenics! They don’t even hide it! It is breathtaking in its idiocy.”

“The notorious ‘Negro Project’ which sought to limit, if not eliminate, black births, was her brain child,” noted a group of black pastors in a letter to the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery last summer, demanding that the museum remove a bust of the anti-black Planned Parenthood founder.

“Like Hitler, Sanger advocated eugenics — the extermination of people she deemed ‘undesirable,’” the letter continued.

The backlash to Planned Parenthood's tweet was swift and brutal.

Pro-life advocate Obianuju Ekeocha said: “But how can you further his dream when you have aborted millions of African American babies since 1973?”

Peter Wohlers responded:  “PP uses MLK to fit their narrative yet Margaret Sanger (founded PP) was an absolute racist!”

Daniel Roddick said, “Then stop working so hard to kill black babies before they’re even born PP!”

Dave Bunnell pointed out:  “You are aligned with the lynchers, not the victims. You are with the purveyors of hatred and violence against the innocent, not those who courageously stand against your genocide.”

National Review’s Alexandra DeSanctis, tweeted:  “Your group was founded by a eugenics enthusiast who peddled birth control in black and impoverished neighborhoods. Today, more black babies are aborted than born alive in NYC, your headquarters. You have no business coopting MLK to push your propaganda.”
