(LifeSiteNews) — “Cancel culture” has been going on in secular society for some time, but we’ve seen it also affect the Church. You’ve got a huge movement in the U.S. of the “canceled priests,” and this is from people trying to do the right thing.
On social media, saying something true that happens to be pro-life, pro-family, “misgendering” someone (using the wrong pronouns) gets you banned. Well, sadly, this is happening in the Church now.
It’s not only in the U.S. There’s a priest in Ireland who gave a beautiful homily: pro-life, pro-family, but gave it in love. It’s not like it was about hating people who call themselves homosexual or whatever. No, it was about loving them. Loving them enough to tell them the truth. But that is not good, according to his bishop, who has now forbidden him from saying public Masses.
Wow. But for being faithful, this priest has made the front page of newspapers because the prime minister — who is, by the way, an active homosexual — has actually reacted to the priest’s comments, and now it’s all over the front pages of the papers in Ireland. Stay tuned to this latest episode of The John-Henry Westen Show, where we will be speaking with Father Sean Sheehy himself.
Here’s a taste of what you’ll be getting from Father Sheehy:
The Church in her spiritual works of mercy says, “Admonish the sinner.” And I say we don’t do that by a sense of superiority. We do that because we care. We don’t want anyone to go to hell. And the fact is that if we don’t repent and if we don’t seek forgiveness, we will go to hell. And that’s the reality.
Listen to last night’s episode with Father Sheehy below or watch the interview above.
Be sure to check out LifeSiteNews’ previous coverage of Father Sheehy’s “cancellation,” too.
