Remember that Texas cheerleader Kendall Jones, the one created an Internet firestorm by posting pictures of her hunting various animals in Africa? Well, her actions have flushed another animal out of the bushes: Democrat Mike Dickinson of Virginia, who is proudly revealing his moral high ground by offering a hundred grand for nude photos of her.

I’m not kidding. Dickinson, who claims to be running for Republican Eric Cantor’s Congressional seat, disagrees with Jones’ hunting. And his response is to solicit and publish what nine states have already banned: Revenge porn.

Here are just a few examples of the repulsive tweets Dickinson has been firing at his critics:

We criminalize those who go Thailand to trophy hunt teens for sex, yet allow #KendallJones to go kill animals in poor countries

(Really? “Trophy hunting a teen” is exactly what Dickinson is doing!)

100k bounty for nude photos or videos of #KendallJones expose this lowlife scum. She hunts animals, let’s hunt her.

Only the teabaggers celebrate #KendallJones for hunting animals but criticize me for hunting her. 100k for nude photos

100k to anyone w nude photos or sex videos of scumbag #KendallJones she hunts animals for fun let’s hunt her for fun

On his Twitter feed he has responded to female detractors by calling them unattractive, making crude comments about their mothers, making overtly sexual comments about degrading oral sex, calling (oh the irony) Jones’ hunting pictures “obscene,” saying that she is going to hell, and comparing her to a serial killer. He also makes a number of specific requests for information on her sex life that I won’t bother to repeat here.

So we’ve established that he has the moral character of an intoxicated Howard Stern.

I’d like to say something flippant here like “the Sexual Revolution turns ugly,” but it’s been ugly from the start. What this man is doing is cyber-bullying, its sexual harassment–and it’s a growing trend. “Revenge porn” is described by a new Utah law banning it as the “publication of intimate images with intent to cause emotional stress or harm.” It has had a devastating impact on the lives of many people. Some victims have even committed suicide.

“Revenge porn” is different from the “sexting” phenomenon, although the two are inextricably linked. Since sending nude or semi-nude photos – or “selfies” – is now the norm in relationships, people – especially women and girls – are finding themselves in the uncomfortable position of leaving relationships with people who have in their possession extremely intimate photographs. Jilted ex-partners, in turn, are often spreading these photos far and wide – either to a group of friends via social networks, by mass-forwarding it on to others, or, in some cases, sending the images to “revenge porn” websites, which exist solely for the purpose of hosting these images and ruining people’s lives. Many of these sites include the victim’s name, address, and social networks. Some revenge porn sites even blackmail their victims by offering them “reputation protection” – the removal of their images in exchange for a large fee. The intent is to objectify, humiliate, and destroy.

Porn culture and the digital age, meet the jilted lover.

Fortunately, action is being taken against this new trend, slowly but surely. As I mentioned previously, nine states, including California, Utah, and New Jersey, have all passed laws against it. Some include jail time. Israel made the distribution of revenge porn a sex crime punishable by jail, with one Knesset member calling it “virtual rape.” The German High Court has ruled that ex-partners must delete such photos upon demand. And in Canada, legislators have recently put forward a cyber-bullying bill that includes up to five years of jail-time for anyone publishing pornographic photos of someone they know online.

“Revenge porn” laws are passed for people just like Mike Dickinson.

It is a shame that we even need such legislation, but cowards like Mr. Dickinson prove that we do. I say coward because he’s nothing but a pervert with a Twitter account, hiding behind his laptop and attempting to ruin someone’s life. I suspect that in any in-person confrontation, Mr. Dickinson would not fare well. Clearly, he is someone of such low moral character that even a Wi-Fi connection is too much to handle. “Revenge porn” laws are passed for people just like him.

Revenge may be a dish best served cold, but then again, so is justice.
