Confessions of a former Planned Parenthood director

Why is Planned Parenthood pushing this dangerous vaccine on minority women? When I worked for Planned Parenthood, I found out.

This is not a conspiracy theory: Planned Parenthood is targeting black women with this dangerous drug

Abby Johnson Abby Johnson Follow Abby

Ben Johnson recently wrote a great article about the damaging effects of the Gardasil (HPV) vaccine. You should all take a minute and read it here.

In his article, he talks about women who have died, 96 to be exact. And those are just the ones that have been reported.  He talks about women who have lost their fertility after receiving the highly regarded HPV vaccine. But the main focus of the article is how the Gardasil vaccine is being heavily promoted to the African-American community through ad placement on BET (Black Entertainment Television).

When I read his article, my conspiracy alarms went off. Now, I’m not a conspiracy theorist (although I find people who are quite entertaining). But when I heard about these ads, my memory was triggered. Of course Planned Parenthood is trying to target minorities with this vaccine…they are getting big reimbursement for injecting their low income patients with this dangerous drug! Then I knew I had to write this article about my own experience inside Planned Parenthood regarding Gardasil.

When Gardasil came out, Planned Parenthood was PUMPED. “Such a wonderful way to serve women,” they said. “This will help prevent cancer for so many young women,” one of my coworkers raved. But then I heard the real reason behind the excitement, “We are going to make so much money off of this vaccine.” Bingo. Of course they were excited. Each injection was going to cost around $200, and women have to get three to be “fully protected.” Six hundred dollars for a vaccine. That was a lot of money.

But then I thought to myself, “Our clients don’t have $600 for a vaccine. This is going to be a huge flop.”

What I didn’t know about at that time was the “Merck Vaccine Assistance Program.” Merck is the manufacturer of Gardasil. This program would pay 100% for the cost of the vaccine itself. Our patients would just have to pay a little $30 “injection fee” per vaccine. Ninety dollars versus six hundred was definitely doable.

Next we were instructed to offer Gardasil to EVERY woman age 11-26 who walked through our doors. “Oh, you are here for a vaginal infection? How about a vaccine, too?” “Oh, I see you marked that you had Herpes and need treatment. Well, you better get this vaccine so you won’t get genital warts, too.” These may seem funny, but it was seriously how we were told to sell this vaccine to our clients.

So, we started signing people up by the dozens. We faxed off countless applications for the “Vaccine Assistance Program.” Almost everyone was approved (most of our clients were low income). We were running out of vaccines. Those little bottles were flying off our refrigerator shelves at around $170 a piece, for which Planned Parenthood was being reimbursed by the Merck program.

I’ve never been of the belief that Planned Parenthood operates solely out of racism, but strictly sees money-making opportunities and goes for them…unfortunately, that is usually at the expense of minority women.

I don’t know if any of these women came back in with complications. I don’t know if they presented to the ER with problems. It’s not like we did any follow up. Heck, I don’t even know if they got all three doses. My gut tells me that 80% of them did not.

Back to the conspiracy idea. Planned Parenthood just ran a series of ads promoting Gardasil on BET (Black Entertainment Television). Ninety-six women have died, several have experienced sterility, and yet Planned Parenthood launches a big campaign targeting the African-American community?

The pro-life movement has talked for years about how Planned Parenthood targets our minority community in the United States. And even if we totally scrap the fact that the founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, was a raging racist we can still look and find racism inside of the organization.

I’ve written before about the document that we were NOT to talk about inside of Planned Parenthood…the “Jaffe Memo.” Here is my article about that memo and what it entailed. This document was written in the late '60s by a high level official with Planned Parenthood. You will notice some really interesting ideas in the document.

“Fertility control agents in water supply”

“Eliminate Welfare payments after first 2 children”

“Encourage increased homosexuality”

“Compulsory sterilization of all who have two children except for a few who would be allowed three”

“Payments to encourage abortion”

The document was proposed to the Population Council (a eugenics-based population control organization led by its first president, Frederick Osborn, who also served as the President of the American Eugenics Society). This was one of Planned Parenthood’s first attempts (after Margaret Sanger’s shenanigans) to reduce the minority population.

We also know that currently over 70% of Planned Parenthood facilities are located in low income, high minority communities. We know that more than 50% of African-American pregnancies end in abortion. We know that Planned Parenthood has dumped tons of money into “Promotora” programs that go into Latino communities and convince them that Planned Parenthood is the ONLY place they can go for health care. And now, they are targeting these same communities for the dangerous Gardasil vaccine.

I mean, am I crazy? How is it that rational people can’t see what Planned Parenthood is doing here? I’ve never been of the belief that Planned Parenthood operates solely out of racism, but strictly sees money-making opportunities and goes for them…unfortunately, that is usually at the expense of minority women.

And the bottom line is that this will continue to happen until these minority communities wake up to the realization that Planned Parenthood is USING them to pad their bottom line. They don’t care about health care for minorities. They care about making money off of you! This won’t stop until people stand up to this abortion giant and say “NO MORE.” What will it take for these Black and Hispanic women to simply say, “We will not be used. We will not be your pawns. We will no longer be lied to. We are better than Planned Parenthood.”

Kris Ford, an African-American woman who runs Women’s Health and Justice Initiative, said it better than I can.  “Planned Parenthood has ignored the voices of women of color and the organizations that women of color lead for years. Planned Parenthood continues to raise large sums of money off of issues of reproductive justice while framing the issues as a binary that leaves out the experiences of women and communities of color.” It’s time to do something about it. Stop buying the lie.

When we were first told about The Justice Fund, we were told that the money had been given by an anonymous donor. Whoever this person was wanted to be kept totally anonymous. Shutterstock

EXPOSED: The billionaire Planned Parenthood donor who wants his donations kept very, very secret

Abby Johnson Abby Johnson Follow Abby

Sept. 28, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) - Three weeks after I left my job at the clinic, Planned Parenthood took me to court. I am always asked, “Why would they take you to court? Did they have something to hide?” Well, yes. They absolutely had something to hide. They didn’t want me sharing the information in this article. Let’s expose the truth, shall we?

Yes, I do realize that releasing this information puts me in a precarious situation. But it’s always better for the truth to be out…no matter the cost.

It was life changing. I remember the first time we were able to make an appointment with our new funding…it was called “The Justice Fund.” After we had given the woman all of the necessary information about her abortion appointment, we asked her if she wanted to apply for a funding program to help pay for her abortion. She of course said yes. We went through her income and expenses and determined she was eligible for funding. We informed her that she would only have to pay $100 of the $400 cost. The woman began to cry on the phone. So I began to cry. Wow. We were going to change so many lives with this money, this “Justice Fund.”

When we were first told about The Justice Fund, we were told that the money had been given by an anonymous donor. Whoever this person was wanted to be kept totally anonymous. We, as clinic directors, weren’t even given the information. The only people who knew were the board members of the National Abortion Federation (NAF). My boss happened to be on the board of NAF, and we were pretty close. Eventually, over some drinks at the annual NAF conference, she spilled the beans.

For months, we had just known this person as “the donor.” At the annual Planned Parenthood conference, there was a woman there representing “the donor.” She never said her name to the crowd…just said that she was so honored to be among all of us…all of us who were protecting women’s rights. She said that “the donor” was so proud to work with us. We knew that “the donor” was giving NAF up to $21 million dollars every year to help poor women pay for their abortions.

Here’s how the program worked. While scheduling a woman for an abortion, we would ask her if she would like financial assistance to help pay for her abortion. Um, of course they did. We would then go through a screening tool given to us by NAF. Pretty much everyone qualified…and if they didn’t we would rearrange the numbers so they did. Then, we would bill the amount owed to our clinic directly to NAF. They would then send the bill to “the donor” and then “the donor” would send our check to NAF. They would turn around and send the check to our clinic.

During the first year of the “Justice Fund,” our abortion numbers grew by 100%. We literally doubled our abortion number. Abortion was much easier to sell when you didn’t have the financial burden attached to it.

About six months into the program, the rules changed. I guess we were billing too much, too fast. Now, “the donor” would only pay 40% of the cost, instead of 75%. That was fine. The women were still so grateful to have a huge chunk of money taken off of their bill. Now they were paying $240 for their $400 abortion. I remember our “frequent flyers” being angry when we told them that the rules of the program had changed. They wanted that 75% discount! Couldn’t we make an exception for them since they had so many abortions at our clinic? Sometimes we would. Sometimes we would bill “the donor” for the entire amount. I mean, he didn’t care. They weren’t actually looking to see if we were implementing the program correctly. They just got the bill from us and sent the check. They knew we were trustworthy. Ha. Ha.

So, my answer to why Planned Parenthood took me to court? Well, I think it was for two reasons.

  1. They wanted to make an example out of me. “See workers, if you defect from us, you will find yourself in court, too.”

  2. Because I knew the ins and outs of the plan funded by “the donor”...and, I knew his name.

In 2003, there was a big scandal that broke out surrounding the company Pampered Chef. The majority of people selling this kitchenware were stay-at-home moms. Many of them were pro-life women. So imagine their surprise when they found out that the new owner of their company, Warren Buffett, had given millions to the abortion industry, primarily Planned Parenthood. Suddenly, there was a mass exodus from the company. Women were done selling their overpriced spatulas. You can see more about that story here.

So, when Warren Buffett decided that he wanted to start this “Justice Fund” in order to donate $21 million a year to the abortion industry, you better believe that he wanted to remain anonymous. He tried to disguise the donations under the foundation started by him in the name of his wife, Susan Thompson Buffett. But the 990s are for public consumption. Anyone can see where they are spending their money. Here’s the most up to date financials for his foundation. Click the year to view the 990 for that year.

I encourage you to take the time to look through these 990s so you can see the organizations that he funds. He gave a boatload of money to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). It’s no wonder they have so diligently fought legislation like banning partial-birth abortions. He gave 2 million dollars to the group called “Catholics for Choice.” Of course, they are not recognized by the Roman Catholic Church and in fact have essentially excommunicated themselves from the Church.

Warren Buffett is single-handedly influencing many universities and medical institutions with his money. My advice is this. Read through the list. Find organizations to write letters to. Let them know that you will no longer be a supporter until they stop applying for grants to the Buffett Foundation. Maybe invite your friends over and have a letter-writing get-together. Send stacks of letters to these organizations. Make your voices heard! You may think that your small voice doesn’t matter. But if your voice is paired with hundreds of other voices, these organizations will take notice.

Paying for low income women to have abortions is all part of Buffett’s “population control” campaign. After all, as Planned Parenthood’s founder Margaret Sanger said, minorities are “reckless breeders” who should be “eliminated from the human garden.” The population control campaign is inherently racist…as is the “pro-choice” position. I wish I had a dollar for every pro-choicer who told me that abortion has to be accessible for poor women…as if being poor makes you an unfit mother.

It seems that Warren Buffett and his beloved Planned Parenthood are two peas in a pod…trying to eliminate the “poor,” one life at a time.

Dear Dr. Gatter: I can’t promise you a Lamborghini. But I can promise you your dignity.

URGENT: Sign the petition demanding that Congress stop Planned Parenthood's illegal and inhuman practice of harvesting and selling baby body parts. Click here.

Dear Dr. Gatter,

Listen, I can’t promise you a Lamborghini. I can’t even promise you a used Ford Focus. But I can promise you something much more valuable…your dignity.

I think I know why you got into the abortion industry. You did it because you believed you were helping women. You probably thought that you were just helping to provide a safe abortion option. After all, without safe abortion, these women would be forced to seek out illegal abortion services. What would that look like for them? Unsterile instruments? Incompetent doctors? Negligent care? That would be absolutely terrible.

What you didn’t know was that your involvement in the abortion industry would mean that you would now be part of what you feared. Abortion clinics are being cited for the things you thought only happened in illegal “back alley” facilities. Legal abortion clinics are being cited for improperly sterilizing their instruments, putting hundreds of women at risk for potentially fatal infections. Clinics are actively participating in Medicaid fraud. Women are dying from legal abortion procedures because of negligent care. Former abortion clinic workers are speaking out about mandatory abortion quotasbotched abortions, and incompetent physicians. This is safe abortion?

Every day you go into work and begin your day. Maybe today is just first trimester abortions. Planned Parenthood says that you should perform each abortion in less than five minutes. Maybe you are always trying to challenge yourself. “How fast can I do this one?” When you first became an abortion provider, you used to introduce yourself to every patient. Now you find that to be a nuisance. The patients don’t care anyway. Now you just hope they are sedated by the time you walk in the room.

Follow Abby Johnson on Facebook

You start the procedure by artificially dilating the patient’s cervix with dilator rods. You hear the woman complaining about the pain. What did they think? Did they think this wasn’t going to be uncomfortable? Once the cervix is dilated, you begin the actual suction procedure. You ask the technician to turn on the suction and you hear the familiar whir. You begin moving the suction machine in and out of the uterus. Small clumps of tissue are sucked into the machine. You are waiting for “the noise”. And then you hear it…a big “thump”.

That thump was the baby’s body slowly moving through the suction tube and hitting the glass container where it will be kept for later. You are finished. Another one down. Another $75.00 added to your paycheck. You get up and move to the next room, where a sedated woman is waiting for you to provide your “service”.

But before you walk into the exam room, you stop by the POC (products of conception) lab. You want to make sure that all of the body parts of your last victim are accounted for. You see them all there: two arms, two legs, a head, and torso. You sign the paper in the POC lab confirming that the “parts were accounted for” and then you move to the next room. Your next patient is waiting. Your next unsuspecting victim is waiting to be killed.

This is why you became a doctor?

I don’t think it is. I think you wanted to be a doctor who healed people. But somehow, you got involved in one of the most corrupt industries in history…the abortion industry. I know the money is good. The pay cut I took when I became pro-life was steep. But I would do it again without question because what I gained was invaluable. My dignity. My self-respect.

When I stopped taking life, I got mine back. I learned what it was to truly help women. I realized that in order to help the woman sitting in front of me, I couldn’t dehumanize her child.

I also got my humanity back. I realize now how dehumanized I had become. Of course I was. I had become part of a machine…a machine that casually takes life day after day. In order to dehumanize the baby we were killing, we had to dehumanize ourselves.

I want to help you find the humanity that has been lost. I wish I could explain to you the freedom and pure joy that you will feel if you leave the abortion industry. But it’s something I can’t really explain…it can only be felt. I believe that you are worthy of redemption. I believe in your inherent dignity, in your worth. Let us at And Then There Were None help you find what you have lost. We are here for you; individually, confidentially and unconditionally.

Dear Dr. Nucatola: I used to harvest fetal tissue for Planned Parenthood just like you

Abby Johnson Abby Johnson Follow Abby

URGENT: Sign the petition demanding that Congress stop Planned Parenthood's illegal and inhuman practice of harvesting and selling baby body parts. Click here.

Dear Dr. Nucatola,

I watched the video put out with your face on it. I heard you talking about harvesting fetal body parts. I saw you sip your wine while talking about how to remove an intact fetus.

I want you to know that I’m not disgusted by you. I’m not disgusted, because I used to be just like you. You see, my former Planned Parenthood clinic used to harvest fetal body parts. I used to sift through their bodies and prepare them for transport to the research lab we were contracted with.

The other day, I learned a new thing that I hate because of my work at the clinic. Dry ice. We used to participate in studies where we would have to collect fetal body parts and ship them to research labs...all for stem cell research. We kept their little bodies cold and preserved by using dry ice. My daughter was really excited to put water on it so she could see the smoke. I stood there and couldn't get the memories of those little bodies out of my mind. My kids were squealing with excitement and I felt like I couldn't move. I had to make a decision in that moment. I could either let my past consume me, or I could repurpose that memory and use it for good. And that’s what I chose to do. I sat down next to the block of ice and watched my kids run around in the smoke.

But that dry ice did cause me to recall that particular part of my work. All of the blood, body parts and extra tissue would be collected into a glass jar. That glass jar would come to me in the POC (products of conception) lab through a “pass through specimen cabinet.” I would take the jar to our sink, dump everything into a huge strainer, rinse out the jar and then rinse the blood out of the strainer. After I had a clean body, I would dump it into the glass baking dish that was sitting on top of an x-ray light box. I would put a little bit of water in the glass dish so that the body parts would float…that made it easier for me to manipulate them.

During the season of tissue harvesting, an intact body was gold. An intact fetal body is considered perfection in the land of fetal tissue research. But dismembered body parts were okay, too…and that is usually what we gave them. I would check the patient’s chart to make sure that they had signed the consent for us to donate their baby’s remains. Almost every woman did, because we made it seem like that by donating, they were helping others…altruism during abortion. If she had consented, then I would gather the parts wanted (usually all of them) and place them in a particular container given to us by the research company. At the end of the day, I would pack all of the containers neatly in the box with dry ice and ship them off.

That was my life, and I did it for eight years. The images of tiny bodies will always be burned in my memory. And in a strange way, I am thankful for that memory as it reminds me what I’m fighting for.

As I watched you on the video, I could almost see myself. After a grueling abortion day, we would all go out for margaritas and Mexican food. We would talk about the day and specific abortion cases. It wasn’t gross to us. We honestly didn’t think anything about it. We would plainly talk about harvesting fetal parts as if we were talking about harvesting a field of corn. That was our normal…and we were proud to live in it. I get the humor. I get how something grotesque to others can seem ordinary.

I understand the world you live in. I understand the blindness. I don’t think you are an evil person. I wasn’t an evil person. But just like I was, you are gravely misguided. I want you to know that I care about you. I have seen the things being said about you. I have seen the hate and vile comments about you. Seeing those things being said about you is honestly heartbreaking for me. I can’t imagine what you are feeling right now. I understand how hurtful people can be. I still receive comments like that sometimes.

But I am not one of those people. And no one involved in our organization, And Then There Were None, sees you as an evil person. We care about you. We want you to find peace. We want you to find true happiness. We know that won’t happen as long as you are involved in Planned Parenthood. We believe that your life matters. We believe that your life holds infinite value and worth. You matter to us. As hard as I fight to save unborn babies, I fight just as hard to save people like you from the grips of the abortion industry.

You can leave. We can help you. I hope you watch this video and see that we are a safe place for you to turn. Call me today at 888-570-5501 or email me directly at [email protected].

You can change your life.

Thank you, Aaliyah Hart, for bringing light into my life.

The day my boss announced we would start aborting post-viable babies…like this one

Abby Johnson Abby Johnson Follow Abby

I'll never forget it. We were in a meeting at Planned Parenthood and they were revealing their plans for the largest abortion clinic in the Western Hemisphere.

Everyone was cheering and clapping. I think a couple people were even crying from the joy (?) they felt. Maybe it was joy. Maybe it was their conscience not letting them escape their true sadness that they could never reveal. I don't know.

Either way, it was a big day. We were going to be the leader in abortion services. We were going to be able to schedule 75 abortions per day/6 days a week. We were going to be the abortion giant. In fact, my supervisor kept saying that we were going to "run the largest abortuary in the United States." We would all just crack up because we thought the made up words pro-lifers used were absolutely hilarious. We knew they said them in an attempt to be disrespectful, but we just loved it. The fact that they came up with their own sort of language to describe what we did made us revel in our work.

Someone asked if we would be expanding our abortion services. What she really meant was whether we would be aborting babies further along in gestation. The answer was not one that I wanted to hear.

Most prochoicers have a line in the sand concerning abortion. There are very few abortion supporters who believe in abortion through all nine months of pregnancy. Now, you won't hear any of them deviating from the talking points. They would never say that they had a problem with abortions past a certain gestation...but in their heart of hearts, most people do make some sort of distinction. For me and for many others like me at the time, my line in the sand was viability. Once a baby was considered viable outside the mother's womb, I didn't think abortion was right. And as far as I knew, babies weren't viable until at least 24 weeks.

Then one day I was reading a story in People magazine. Yes, I know...very scientific. Anyway, there was a story in there about a little girl, named Aaliyah Hart who was born at just over 20 weeks gestation, survived and was completely healthy. Well, there went my 24 week line. So now I had to push it back to 20 weeks because of baby Aaliyah. I had proclaimed to everyone (my family, my friends, my coworkers) that I would never work at a facility that terminated babies past the point of viability, which was now 20 weeks. Here’s an article about her birth.

But then my boss answered this question about "expansion of services." Excitedly, she told everyone that we would now be expanding our services to aborting babies up to 25 weeks gestation. Everyone cheered again...everyone but me.

Oh no. What would this mean for me? We are now talking about viable babies here. I said I would never do that. But I'm going to have to do it. And not only am I going to have to do it, but I'm being groomed to be the next COO of this affiliate...the affiliate that will open the "largest abortuary in the United States."

Looking back, I think that was the first crack that let light in. I had always believed that I would retire with Planned Parenthood. But I remember going home that day and telling Doug that I wasn't sure if that was going to happen. It was the first time I could imagine not working for Planned Parenthood.

The other day I was browsing through the internet and noticed an article that was titled "Baby given 1 percent chance of survival turns 12 after mom refuses abortion." That made me think of baby Aaliyah, so I clicked on it. I couldn't believe it. It was a story about her! She had turned 12 and this story had written about her life. You can read it here

That little life that had such a profound impact on mine. Never underestimate the power of anyone's story...anyone's life...even a life so tiny, so fragile. Thank you, Aaliyah Hart, for bringing light into my life.
