(LifeSiteNews) – It is no secret that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his cronies hate trucks and truckers. After what his administration did to the peaceful Freedom Convoy truckers in February, we know where he stands.

However, the disdain that he showed for the working-class heroes who dared to challenge his insane and draconian mandates goes deeper: he doesn’t just hate long-haul truck drivers, he hates all trucks and their owners.

That might sound extreme – well, only if you don’t know anything about Trudeau – but a newly proposed tax by the Liberals shows the party’s scheme to charge truck buyers thousands of dollars on top of sales tax. We are not talking about owners of long-haul trucks, but personal vehicles like pick-ups and SUVs.

On March 31, the Liberals released a hundreds of pages long report called “2030 Emissions Reduction Plan.” It includes the typical pie in the sky nonsense about reducing carbon to virtually nothing through electric cars, etc. All of these goals will be met at some distant time in the future when Trudeau – God willing – will no longer be in power.

Of course, most people – and probably most politicians – will never read whole documents released by Trudeau’s Liberals. This is understandable, and as a journalist I would advise anyone with blood-pressure issues against reading said documents. At any rate, Conservative Party leadership candidate Pierre Poilievre has done the work and caught a clandestine attempt to take more money away from truck-owners.

Hidden away in a massive report on the government’s fantasy-land environmental initiatives is a proposal to extend an already onerous tax on older heavy-duty vehicles and apply it to all passenger trucks over a certain size.

Essentially, trucks that do not meet arbitrary fuel-efficiency standards will be taxed heavily upon sale, even if they are used and have been bought and paid for multiple times.

A heavy-duty Ram 3500 would be taxed 4000 dollars when sold, for example.

Always looking to clarify the facts and tell the truth, Canada’s Minister of the Environment and Climate Change (yes, that is a real job in Canada) took to Twitter to pinky-swear that his green initiative won’t be implemented and harm truck owners.

Now, you will notice that Mr. Guilbeault employed classic leftist tactics in his dishonest comment. “The federal government has not proposed a fee on trucks,” is technically a true statement. That is because the federal government has proposed an extension of a program already in place that would raise taxes on the sale of any vehicle – truck or otherwise – with a certain fuel-efficiency rating. This extension could include virtually all personal trucks.

He also assured us that “a recommendation by an independent body in a report is not government policy.” Right. Just like all those “independent” scientific bodies that only recommended that governments lockdown their societies for the better part of two years did not constitute policy… I bet this is totally different.

Showing that typical Liberal charm, Guildbeault then took a potshot at conservatives, and in true Freudian fashion accused the other side as being “divisive.”

Guilbeault isn’t a fan of divisive politics apparently. Maybe we should board the next plane and go to Ottawa to talk to him about that. Oh, wait, five million Canadians still don’t have their full civil rights and can’t fly due to personal medical choices… So never mind.

The Canadian state media – the CBC – has of course come to the Liberal’s defense and assured Canadians that “Conservatives are condemning a ‘truck tax’ that doesn’t exist.” Again, it is not stated in the report that a “truck tax” has been proposed, but in reality, that is what the new tax extension would play out as.

The Liberals are not known for their overly kind treatment of working-class Canadians, and this green tax should not surprise anyone.

Trucks and big SUVs are extremely popular in Canada amongst both tradespeople and other Canadians. Even though we have been told for decades that the planet is getting warmer, Old Man Winter keeps refusing to listen to the politicians and keeps dumping huge amounts of snow and ice on Canadian roads each winter.

Canucks drive big trucks because they keep drivers and passengers safe in rough road conditions. And hard working Canadians use trucks to do the jobs that the Zoom-class tends to avoid for fear of mixing with the untouchables who have callused hands.

As is expected of Trudeau, his government is doing everything it can to strangle the Canadian economy and hurt the people who constitute the backbone of the nation he seems hell-bent on destroying.
