Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein attacked a Catholic judicial nominee for her faith during a confirmation hearing Sept. 6, 2017.

September 14, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) — At a Senate hearing last Wednesday Notre Dame law professor Amy Coney Barrett was informed by California Senator Dianne Feinstein that “the dogma lives loudly” within her.

Barrett, a Catholic, should take the remarks as a compliment, though they were not intended to be.

Feinstein’s comments were essentially a more diplomatic way of saying, “your kind ain’t welcome ‘round here.”

Five days prior, The Boston Globe published an article with the headline “Religion is constant part of Elizabeth Warren’s life.” The article spoke glowingly about how the militantly pro-abortion senator from Massachusetts is informed by her “deep and authentic” Christian faith when it comes to her work as an elected official.

Two women. Two different stories. Read collectively, they tell Americans all they need to know about the dark path this nation is walking down when it comes to religion and politics: Those whose religious beliefs advance the politically correct cause of the day (often championed by liberalism) are welcomed as prophets while those whose religious beliefs advance the Kingdom of God are deemed outcasts.

Feinstein’s words amount to a public call to arms on behalf of the secular state against those who serve a God unswayed by the spirit of the age.

Feinstein’s words, in fact, reveal that a war is already well under way against Christianity.

But Christians have been involved in a war with the powers of darkness ever since their innocent founder was betrayed and suffered the cruel and ignominious death of crucifixion. Christians know his words well: “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.” They also know that Christ’s death redeemed mankind and will lead to a glorious resurrection.

At the end of the day, Christians know that no matter what their enemies have in store for them, Jesus Christ has already won the war.

This knowledge provides Christians with a unique perspective on practically everything when compared with the perspective of those seeking to destroy them.

Christians look to the eternal, the supernatural. They view man as a creature of God and understand suffering as redemptive. Christians submit themselves to Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, and recognize sin as something to be despised.

The enemies of Christians worship the here and now. They see man as his own creator who needs to avoid any and all suffering. They deny both original and actual sin and make pleasure the primary purpose of life. The individual, not Christ, is king.

Christians spread their beliefs aided by the power of the Holy Spirit. God’s grace stirs the hearts of men, compelling them to turn towards Him.  Motivated by love of neighbor, Christians want to convince others to join them in eternity. With a healthy fear of the Almighty, they desire laws that aid men in their journey to God.

The enemies of Christians, however, proselytize by way of propaganda and deception. They twist reason and logic to support the claim that man is the supreme authority who has power to give and take life. They relentlessly strive to annihilate all who stand in the way of their anti-gospel.

The remarks directed toward Professor Barrett at her hearing should call to mind the treatment Christ himself underwent. “The servant is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you” (John 15:20).

Feinstein’s comments reveal that Christians must spiritually prepare themselves for the attacks that will be unleashed on them if they choose to be faithful to Christ and his teachings, if they choose to live the Gospel without compromise.

It is becoming more and more obvious that followers of Christ must make a choice: Either stand strong in their faith or offer a pinch of incense to the new world order being constructed around them.

Whatever the enemies of truth have up their sleeve, Christians must never forget that they are pilgrims in this life and that they shouldn’t expect acceptance or comfort this side of eternity.

Christians were born for combat. A choice for Christ means courageously facing the Goliaths of our time. Whatever else happens is up to the Lord. As St. Paul once wrote, “the sufferings of this time are not worthy to be compared with the glory to come.”
