In the course of researching for my recent story on the growing “nofap” (no masturbation/porn) forum on Reddit, I spent quite a bit of time browsing posts by users on the forum. What I repeatedly found was an eclectic, but generally admirable bunch of men and women who, disgusted by what the culture had taught them about sex, were independently paving a better path towards sexual sanity.
On Friday as I was putting the finishing touches on my story, I ran across this gem of a post, which is indicative of the sort of thing one finds on nofap. It's geared towards men, but women can benefit from it as well. The language is a little uncouth, but what stood out to me was its profound earnestness, as well as its hopefulessness and truth.

My biggest issue with porn is that it's an imitation.. It's lying to you. You're being lied to. Do you see that? You did absolutely nothing to see that woman naked. You've sacrificed nothing. You've fought for nothing. You clicked a fu**ing mouse and opened a god d**n page of lies. Do you think that makes you a man? Do you think that allows you to grow? To become stronger? To experience life?? It's a cheat, it's a hack, it's a lie, it's fake. It's not what you want.
How strong the desire in our hearts to find a beautiful women and be a man for her. How robbed we are by the lies of pornography. Porn makes a man feel like a man without ever requiring anything from him. That's not what a man is. A man is strong, powerful, knows he has what it takes and fights for it. Keep fighting fellow fapstronauts!
I'm proud of every single one of you on this sub. If you're fighting you're a man in my book. Good on you.
Preach it brother!
