Bruce 'Caitlyn' Jenner offers a 'transgender' message to President Trump on social media.Twitter

May 3, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) – Those of us who see transgenderism as a dangerous ideology often face questions from those who see it as simply another manifestation of our culture’s embrace of personal bodily autonomy, even if they do find it somewhat strange. It is true, they say, that some men feel like they are women and some women feel like they are men, and so why should we care if they decide to identify as the opposite sex? If it makes them happy, isn’t that a good enough reason to live and let live?

There are obviously a wide range of responses to this attitude. The first is that a biological man, by virtue of being a man, cannot understand what it feels like to be a woman. Thus, when a man claims to be a woman based on the fact that he has always felt like one, that argument is dead on arrival. That is information that nature has made inaccessible to him—and that’s not even to mention the various physical experiences that women have that men do not. The same is true vice versa.

Another answer would point out the fact that making gender and sex legally subjective causes enormous problems that should have been easily predictable. Thus, a girl gets suspended for kneeing a boy who was leading a charge into the girls’ bathroom at her high school because the boys were angry that a biological female had entered their bathroom. Some girls are avoiding using the bathroom entirely because they do not want to be seen by biological males, and one Illinois judge even ruled that high school girls have no right to “visual bodily privacy.”

But beyond the fact that transgenderism is a pseudo-scientific ideology, the fact that girls and women are being forced to give up their private safe spaces to allow biological males identifying as women to join them in locker rooms and showers and bathrooms and even safe houses, and the fact that trans activists are seeking to use the law to compel speech and demand that the rest of us play along with their delusions, there is also the fact that when you abandon biological reality and assert that people can be whatever they want simply by saying they feel a certain way, things will get very weird very quickly.

There is, for example, a “transspecies” woman who recently appeared on Good Morning Britain to explain why she now identifies as an elf. She realized that she was an elf after reading Lord of the Rings, and the Daily Mail solemnly reported that her interview, in which she claimed she was an “Otherkin” and trapped in a human body, “divided viewers.” Some people, however, “praised her beliefs.” After all, why not? If biological reality is no longer a determining factor in how we identify, there’s no limit to the claims people can make. As the would-be elf noted, it is about what a person feels inside, not their actual body, that now makes all the difference.

The Metro also recently reported on a “non-binary” Londoner who is living as a “genderless monster.” Those identifying as “non-binary,” of course, identify as neither gender. Jazmin, who asks that people call her by the pronoun “they” (and nothing is more confusing that reading a news article using plural pronouns to describe a single person), is hoping to get a double-mastectomy so that she can have a flat chest and better use her body to present as an alien. In other words, this is not just an adult playing make-believe: This is a deadly game replete with drastic physical mutilation.

And then there are those like 26-year-old British singer Sam Smith, who claim that they switch fluidly back and forth between identifying as male and female. This might make misgendering rather difficult, but because such things are now subjective, we are required to believe that this young man is male some days and female other days. He says he is happy to be a role model for other young people who may apparently feel that they are also gender fluid in this way, but admits to often being severely depressed.

Now, it is true that bizarre behaviors have always existed. It is also true that the elites’ acceptance of the transgender phenomenon has created a scenario in which they are forced to take anyone’s self-identity seriously, no matter how crazy it might seem. The fact is that when sex and gender were made subjective and the state put the force of the law behind transgender claims, biological reality itself was abolished. In this new world, each and every person can be a god unto themselves, creating his or her own identity and forcing reality and everyone around them to bend to their will. They can defy nature with mastectomies and castrations and elaborate disguises, and get respectful coverage from mainstream media while prominent activists will call them “brave.”

And that is why the imposition of transgender ideology is not a matter of “live and let live.” They do not simply wish to transition themselves. They wish to transform all of society with them.

Jonathon’s new podcast, The Van Maren Show, is dedicated to telling the stories of the pro-life and pro-family movement. In his latest episode, he interviews Operation Rescue president Troy Newman who explains why the pro-life movement has to focus on shutting down abortion centers. Involved in the pro-life cause since 1991, Newman, now 53, says, “the only way we can determine whether or not we're closer to ending this holocaust of our time is the number of babies being saved and the number of abortion mills closing down.”You can subscribe here, and listen to the episode below:
