The pope and his call for a ‘human ecology’ that respects the environment

Last week I wrote about the rise of what I called, for lack of a better term, a “pro-life environmentalism.” I argued that this movement, which is arising amongst a generation of younger religious conservatives, is a positive thing, striking, as it does, a healthy balance between the anti-human, pro-population control ideology of the eco-extremists, and a grasping and inhuman materialism that pays no heed whatsoever to the effects of human activities on nature. I hope to explore this topic (particularly how it ties in to pro-life issues) further and in a more formal setting in the future, but for […]

The Third International Symposium on Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide – a tremendous success

The Third International Symposium on Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide in Vancouver (June 3 – 4) was a tremendous success. The goals that were set-out before the Symposium were surpassed. The DVD’s of the Symposium will be available in early July for $50 for the complete set. The Third International Symposium was organized by the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition (EPC). The International leaders had a meeting on Thursday, June 2, that was chaired by Alex Schadenberg. The meeting examined issues related to the language of the debate and common directions for the group. There was general agreement concerning the language of the […]

Russell Crowe: Pro-abortion foreskin man

I really, really like Russell Crowe as an actor. But as a person Crowe clearly has missing brain synapses that have rendered him a bonehead. As the Huffington Post reports today, Crowe took to Twitter yesterday [Warning: vulgar] to castigate male circumcision. That’s fine. My opinion differs on the topic, but whatever… But then Crowe got stupid. His very next tweet, after “stand[ing] for the perfection of babies”? The absurd illogic is almost too obvious to point out. But I must. Removing a piece of skin the size of a postage stamp from a newborn baby is “barbaric and stupid,” […]

Apocalypse Newt: the rise of Rick Perry?

Goodbye Newt, hello Rick Perry! Newt Gingrich’s campaign has imploded, his staffers mutinied, but it all is good news to pro-life Republicans hoping that the current governor of Texas may just be waiting in the wings. Two dozen Gingrich staffers resigned en masse earlier this week, citing a difference of direction they wanted the campaign to take. One direction they did not like was the Mediterranean course Newt had charted – a two-week cruise among Greece’s isles with his wife Callista. It appears the staff thought Newt taking a personal vacation – shortly after making an official announcement for the […]
