Skeptical panel hears arguments against portions of pro-life Texas bill

A three-judge federal appeals court panel Monday heard an hour-long debate over the constitutionality of two sections of HB 2, a pro-life 2013 Texas law. The consensus, for what it’s worth, among media accounts is that judges Jennifer Walker Elrod, Catharina Haynes, and Edith Jones were skeptical of the plaintiff’s arguments made on behalf of Planned Parenthood and a number of abortionists by Janet Crepps, a lawyer for the New York-based Center for Reproductive Rights. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel did not indicate when a decision would be rendered on U.S. District Judge Lee Yeakel’s October ruling […]

Will the Supreme Court strike down ‘bubble zone’ laws? Pray that it does.

The Pro-Life Action League is calling on all pro-life Christians to pray the Lord’s Prayer each day from January 7 through 15, for the intention that the U.S. Supreme Court will strike down all of the restrictive “Bubble Zone” laws that have been enacted to muzzle sidewalk counselors. On Wednesday, January 15, the high court will hear oral arguments in the case of McCullen v. Coakley. Pro-life activists in Massachusetts are challenging that state’s recently enacted Bubble Zone, the most restrictive in the country. Under the law, pro-lifers may not speak to abortion clinic clients within 35 feet of the […]

Australia’s Dr. Death is exporting suicide kits to the U.S.

January 3, 2014 (Alex Schaenberg) – In his most recent newsletter, Philip Nitschke, Australia's Dr Death, claims to have found a way to import suicide kits into the United States, starting in January 2014, under the cover of his Max Dog Brewing kit. Nitschke admitted that his Max Dog Brewing kits are in fact Suicide kits. He send the kits to people who pay by credit card. The kit is used for an “undetectable” death. On June 30, 2011; Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber signed into law a bill outlawing the sale of “suicide kits” in Oregon. The Oregon bill was in response to the […]

Gary Herbert for president!

No, I'm not really endorsing Utah Governor Gary Herbert for president in 2016 – but the way he handled an activist judge's decision to redefine marriage proves Herbert would be better for the job than Chris Christie. On Friday, an Obama-appointed judge overturned Utah's state constitutional amendment protecting marriage – one passed by two-thirds of state voters in 2004. U.S. District Judge Richard Shelby said the amendment violated the U.S. Constitution – arguing, in effect, that George Washington would have taken a bullet to protect sodomy. Governor Herbert has done all he can do to protect sane jurisprudence and the […]

PETA to bear-mauled girl: You deserved it!

I really do believe that PETA is a people hating organization, at least among its leadership. Alpha wolf Ingrid Newkirk, for example, expressed the wish that humans had never appeared on the planet. Recently, a young woman in Florida was out hunting and badly mauled by a bear. No one asked PETA’s opinion, but they sent the recovering girl a letter that basically told her she got what she deserved. From the letter: As this mother bear demonstrated, animals form intense bonds with their young, just as we do, and will go to great lengths to protect them, just as your […]
