BREAKING: Bishop Schneider talks about climate of fear in Rome - many 'bishops are intimidated'

Opening a week of intense activity in Rome as the Synod comes to an end, a press conference launching a new catechism authored by Bishop Athanasius Schneider saw a gathering of many of the defenders of tradition. Bishop Schneider was clear about his support for the five cardinals who questioned the Pope via a dubia, and described the Pope’s response as “unsatisfactory.” He spoke of the climate of fear in the Vatican among bishops and about his relationship with Pope Francis. Cardinal Robert Sarah praised Bishop Schneider’s new catechism and noted that it is not the Church that is in crisis but the pastors of the Church who are in crisis. Cardinal Sarah also provided a fascinating take on the Church in Africa, suggesting that while it could be of benefit on moral issues afflicting the Church today, Africa – a young Church – needs the traditional liturgy from the ancient Churches of the West (Europe).
