PRO-ABORTS REFUSE TO HELP FBI WITH ABORTIONIST SHOOTING INVESTIGATION?

PRESS RELEASE Nov. 26, 1998 CAMPAIGN LIFE COALITION B.C.

RADICAL GROUP WITH LINKS TO LOCAL PRO-CHOICE RESEARCHER WON’T HELP FBI

One of the most radical pro-choice groups in the United States, Refuse and Resist, won’t assist the FBI in their ongoing investigation into the murder of Dr. Barnett Slepian.

R&R; issued a press release on the internet this week vilifying the FBI’s attempt to interview two members of their organization. The two men, Robert Stauber and Michael Gingerich have refused to be interviewed by federal law enforcement officials.

Refuse and Resist is linked to well-known pro-choice researcher Will Offley, of the BC Coalition for Abortion Clinics. Offley has supplied information to R&R; and is thanked on a web site for his material.

John Hof of Campaign Life Coalition BC stated: “The investigation of the tragic murder of Barnett Slepian is taking a new twist. From the beginning we have stated that we have every faith in the investigative abilities of the law enforcement agencies involved. How criminal that pro-choice groups refuse to cooperate and provide possible critical information in solving this crime. Perhaps it is time that law enforcement officials turn their sites on Will Offley of Vancouver, and question him as to the extent of his relationship with this radical group known as Refuse and Resist.”

CANADA DUMPS HALF A MILLION FOR POPULATION CONTROL IN COLOMBIA?

OTTAWA, Nov 27 (LSN) A press release from the Canadian international Development Agency (CIDA) Wednesday revealed that Canada has pledged $500,000 and another $80,000 to assist the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in promoting “human rights” in Colombia and other developing nations. The announcement was made by Foreign Affairs Minister Lloyd Axworthy and Minister for International Cooperation Dianne Marleau during the visit of Mary Robinson, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

Robinson has often admitted that her (and the UN’s) definition of “human rights” includes the “right” to abortion on demand and the acceptance of homosexuality. Furthermore, Colombia is one of the thirteen developing nations targeted for population control by the notorious NSSM 200 document. For these reasons, pro-life leaders are concerned that the Canadian monies pledged to the programs will be used to support abortion on demand, the promotion of homosexuality and other population control projects in Colombia and the other countries.

ONTARIO SPANKING BAN UPDATE

TORONTO, Nov 27 (LSN) Yesterday, the Toronto Sun reported more details on the court case seeking to make spanking illegal in Ontario. A court date has been set for January 12. A decision by the Ontario courts to repeal section 43 would deprive parents of the right to use spanking as a form of discipline only in Ontario unless the court orders a blanket repeal.

As reported by LifeSite News a week ago, the group Justice for Children and Youth launched a challenge to Section 43 of the Criminal Code (which permits spanking), claiming that the section violates the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Of note, the group received funding for the challenge to the Canadian law from the Canadian government itself via the Court Challenges Program.

HUMAN RIGHTS OR HUMAN WRONGS CONFERENCE IN EDMONTON

EDMONTON, Nov 27 (LSN) In Edmonton this weekend Canada will host the International Conference on Universal Rights and Human Values. The list of invitees to the event gives a clear indication to observers that they can expect the usual anti-life and anti-family rhetoric people have come to expect from such gatherings.

Invited guest, Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa is heading to Edmonton from Quebec where he gave an address at Bishop’s University Thursday. In an interview Tutu urged “real tolerance” for gays and lesbians and lamented the plight of gays “in such a homophobic world.”

Interestingly, British Columbia’s Attorney General, Ujjal Dosanjh, is the only provincial minister invited to the conference. Dosanjh’s view on human rights was summed up well in a BC Report article which reported: “He is all in favour of allowing pro-homosexual literature into kindergarten, but wants restrictions on pro-life prayer near abortion clinics.” The abortion rights crusader traveled to a premiers conference recently to demand greater protection for, and access to, abortionists.

Today the conference is hearing a Keynote Speech delivered by Mary Robinson the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights who last November pledged to get rid of “discrimination” around the world. “We still have widespread discrimination on the basis of gender, ethnicity, religious belief and sexual orientation. … My responsibility as UN High Commissioner is … specifically to include women’s rights as human rights, as we were reminded by the Beijing conference,” said Robinson during a speech at Oxford University.
