OTTAWA, February 28, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – BC Conservative MP James Moore, who promoted himself as a pro-life, pro-family candidate before elections in 2000, scandalized his own Conservative caucus and his pro-family supporters when he crossed the floor of the House of Commons February 16 to shake the hand of Prime Minister Paul Martin – right before Martin delivered a speech promoting his same-sex “marriage” legislation.

Campaign Life Coalition National Director of Public Affairs, Aidan Reid, told LifeSiteNews.com that he signed up to help Moore campaign for his riding of Port Moody-Westwood-Port Coquitlam, BC in 2000 because of Moore’s claim to being pro-life and pro-family.

“It’s a real kick in the teeth to see that he’s turned out to be a big fraud,” Reid said. “And the cherry on top is to hear that he actually crossed the floor to shake Paul Martin’s hand.”

“You can be sure that we’re going to focus on that riding in the next election,” Reid said. “I grew up in that community and I know lots of people. The general feeling out there is ‘anyone but James.’ I think that his political future depends on his voting against this legislation.”

Moore also supported homosexual-activist NDP MP Svend Robinson’s Bill C-250 homosexual hate crimes legislation.
