OTTAWA, June 29, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Canadian Conservative Party leader Stephen Harper declared the new same-sex “marriage” law passed yesterday is “illegitimate,” promising that his Conservative government would revisit the issue if elected to power in the next federal election.

“I don’t see Canadians will see this as a legitimate way to settle this debate, and so this will be an issue for some Canadians in the next election,” Harper promised, as reported by the CBC. “There will be a chance to revisit this in a future Parliament,” he added, according to Canadian Press coverage. “Our intention is to have a free vote.”
