January 5, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The fallout from the Nov. 28 LifeSiteNews story revealing a New York Times “Abortion-Promoting Whopper” continues to grow. In El Salvador, the country wrongly fingered by the Times for jailing a young woman who supposedly had an 18 week abortion, revelations by the NY Times Public Editor and LifeSiteNews garnered the front page and all of pages 2 and 3 in the country’s most influential paper.

Following a large, front-page headline the newspaper, El Diario de Hoy, stated,  “It is not the first time that The New York Times has to excuse itself to its readers because one of the stories published in its pages turns out not to be true.  Nevertheless, this time the report that utilized inaccurate information concerned El Salvador, and  a Salvadoran woman, supposedly sentenced to thirty years in prison for having aborted an 18 week fetus.”

The entire story, printed in Spanish, has been unofficially translated into English for LifeSiteNews readers and is available as a Special Report.

Elsewhere, a prominent blog called Hot Air includes a “Vent with Michelle Malkin” Internet report on the same New York Times controversy. The video report called “All the Abortion Lies Fit to Print”, entertainingly takes viewers through the New York Times saga.
