TORONTO, ON, July 25, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) – With thousands of kilometers behind them and just over two weeks away from their final goal at Parliament Hill, the Crossroads pro-life walkers will be entering Toronto this weekend.

Since they started walking in Vancouver, BC this May, six to eight devoted young men and women have been taking shifts so that there is always someone on the road day or night. On the weekend they give talks, pray before abortion clinics and other public functions. After twelve demanding weeks on the road, the first ever Canadian Crossroads walking team is scheduled to arrive at Parliament Hill on August 11.

This Friday, the Crossroads walkers will arrive at the Campaign Life Coalition office in Toronto at 11:30 am. After a meeting and luncheon with CLC President Jim Hughes, they will then continue walking to finish their daily 100 kilometers. Over the weekend, several of the walkers will be giving witness talks at churches throughout the Toronto area.

LifeSiteNews.com spoke with Crossroads Canada organizer Cyril Doll, who was walking between Perry Sound and Barrie today. He said it feels good to be approaching the final goal after twelve weeks on the road. The walkers are all getting excited as they come down from the deserted area of northern Ontario and enter more populated regions. Ever since they came South of Sudbury, said Doll, they have been getting more reactions from passersby, and they are looking forward to engaging in even more dialogue as they enter the big cities.

After passing through Toronto and Montreal, the walkers will finally enter Ottawa. Doll told LifeSiteNews.com that when they reach their final goal, “First and foremost we’re going to go pray in front of the Supreme Court of Canada. We’re going to pray for the Holy Spirit to give Canada’s judges a little wisdom and guidance when they make decisions that will affect the lives of Canadians.”

He continued, “At Parliament Hill we’ll do the same thing, praying that the lawmakers will be aware of their responsibility and that the Holy Spirit will give them guidance. We will also pray for all of Canada, that people will wake up to the fact that over 110,000 of us are dying each year because of abortion.”

At present there are eight walkers, six of whom have come all the way from Vancouver. Cyril Doll (Calgary,AB), Jeremy Fraser (High River, AB), Greg Roth (Saskatoon, SK), Etienne O’Toole (Vancouver, BC), Tom Woodard (Calgary, AB), Ben Broussard (Sulpher, LA), Sarah Gallaher (Manassas, VA) and Wendy Macagno (Mojave, CA).
