Editor's note: LifeSiteNews originally reported that Puget Sound schools are in New York. They are, in fact, in Seattle.

December 21, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) – U.S. schools are intentionally promoting transgenderism to children, putting “Gender” studies alongside reading, writing, and arithmetic.

The New York Times reports that schools like Puget Sound in Seattle are making “gender studies” a featured part of the curriculum.

“…schools like Puget Sound are altering their policies to include transgender kids and, more broadly, to make gender a deliberate part of the curriculum. Students are leading the way, driving schools to adopt more inclusive teaching methods,” the Times wrote.

Schools have made sure to include in their libraries books for children about transgenders or “mislabeled” protagonists. Popular books include transgender “Jazz” Jennings' biography and a story about a blue crayon that everyone cruelly calls “Red.”

Homosexuality and transgender sex-ed starts in kindergarten, with “lessons about the range of gender identities.”

Schools make sure to spotlight students who have declared themselves to be transgender.

One school gave a fifteen-year-old biological girl a featured spot in the all-school assembly to declare to impressionable fellow-pubescents, “I’ve come to the decision that I’m non-binary, which means that I’m not a boy or a girl.”

In lockstep with political correctness, the girl asked the entire school population to refer to her as “They,” and asked that all students designate their preferred pronouns whenever introducing themselves.

As if on script, she also said she needed her own gender-neutral bathroom.

Children are being taught that one’s biology is determined by individual decision.

And the government is using tax dollars to push this gender insanity on kids.

Not surprisingly, liberal California is not far behind.

The State’s 2016 “Healthy Youth Act” mandates the teaching of “gender expression” in public schools. Ditto Miami middle schools.  Children are indoctrinated via colorful books depicting smiling people declaring how wonderful it is to have no mother or no father, or, how great it is to be the opposite sex.

One school taught students that gender is a negative label “people invented to put you in a category.”

Schools such as those in Fairfax, Virginia, have put together lessons for seventh graders on “sexual fluidity” and for tenth graders on the “gender spectrum” – “the idea that there’s no such thing as 100 percent boys or 100 percent girls,” as one report put it.

Eighth graders are taught that individual identity has “four parts:  biological gender, gender identity (includes transgender), gender role, and sexual orientation (includes heterosexual, bisexual, and homosexual),” the school district reports.

Middle schoolers are taught about sexual orientation, homosexuality, bisexuality, gender identity, inclusive language, and transgenderism –“in an environment free of bias.”

The school board voted in 2015 to allow boys in the girls' bathrooms, and vice versa.

“Emphasis will be placed on an understanding that there is a broader, boundless, and fluid spectrum of sexuality,” the district stated.  “Sexual orientation and gender identity terms will be discussed with focus on appreciation for individual differences.”

All this as part of Fairfax schools' mandatory curriculum.

All of this leaves students questioning whether they are a boy or a girl or neither. They are left with the impression that binary gender categories are oppressive.

It seems that schools across the nation have become the breeding ground for indoctrinating children into transgender ideology.

“The larger picture is this is really an attack on nature itself – the created order,” Family Research Council's Peter Sprigg told Fox News. “And we’re supposed to affirm all of it.”

Schools are no longer centers of education that form the hearts and minds of children. They have become centers of destruction that corrupt the hearts and minds, and now, even the bodies of our children.
