SIGN THE PETITION: Support Charlie Gard, forced off life support by judge
July 11, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) – Twelve hours of prayer for Charlie Gard will begin at 5 a.m. London time on Thursday (12:00 a.m. EST).
This “worldwide prayer vigil” for the 11-month-old whose parents are fighting to keep him on life support is being organized by Rev. Patrick Mahoney, one of the human rights activists who's assisting Charlie's parents.
“Thursday's court hearing will determine if Charlie Gard lives or dies,” Mahoney wrote on Facebook. “In response to this, we are inviting people from all across the world to pray with us for this critical hearing on Charlie all day Thursday.”
“We know through prayer we can see God shift, shape and transform history and we are believing God for a miracle in the case of Charlie Gard,” the prayer vigil Facebook event explains.
On Thursday, England's High Court will hear new evidence in Charlie's case. English courts and the European Court of Human Rights have ruled that Great Ormond Street Hospital has a right to remove Charlie's life support against his parents' wishes.
Charlie's parents, Chris Gard and Connie Yates, have raised more than $1 million from private donations to transfer Charlie to a hospital in the U.S. for experimental treatment. He has a rare mitochondrial disease. Chris and Connie aren't being allowed to do this – or even take him home from the hospital to spend his last few hours.
The judge hearing Charlie's case said Monday tht it would take “drastic” evidence for him to undo his original ruling that Charlie should be removed from life support.
