WASHINGTON, D.C., January 17, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) – On Tuesday, hundreds of pro-life activists will gather at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. to hear from a slate of pro-life leaders on how to advance the cause for life in modern culture.

The fourth annual Law of Life Summit, founded by Ave Maria Law School, is co-hosted by March for Life Education and Defense Fund, Americans United for Life, Life Legal Defense Foundation, and National LIFE Runners. Each year, the Summit's attendees hear briefly from over 20 top pro-life Americans about their experiences saving the unborn.

This year's summit will run from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.

Among the speakers will be LifeSiteNews.com editor-in-chief and co-founder John-Henry Westen. In 2013, Westen was honored with the inaugural Law of Life Achievement Award. The award is a framed replica of the nail that crucified Christ through His feet, made by the grandfather of Summit lead organizer Royce Hood. Hood says his grandfather wanted him “to give this to people who have shown outstanding leadership … for Christian faith and for pro-life.”

Other speakers are expected to include Live Action founder and President Lila Rose and 40 Days for Life President David Bereit.

At last year's summit, Westen explained how pro-life media can impact mainstream media. He cited how LifeSiteNews.com got The New York Times to correct a story in 2006 that misrepresented important facts about a woman in El Salvador who strangled her newborn child. The Times had originally claimed the woman was jailed for having an abortion.

Radiance Foundation President Ryan Bomberger spoke about the importance of well-designed messaging. “Our design has to be intentional. Our messaging has to be intentional. It also has to be revelational, and there’s a beauty in brevity,” he said.

Catholic Healthcare International founder Jere Palazzolo highlighted the impact of “whole systems…forfeiting their Catholic identity legally…so they can forge joint ventures with non-Catholic groups so that they can do things that are financially viable for them.” Palazzolo said his organization's goal is to re-establish getting “Catholic health care back to life in the support of true life issues.”

This year will also mark the first Law of Life Summit West Coast. It is sponsored by Life Legal Defense Foundation, Ave Maria School of Law and the National LIFE Runner, and will be held on January 24 at St. Mary’s Cathedral Conference Center in San Francisco from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
