VANCOUVER, May 26, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Stephen William Thomas Parker for many years a board member of Campaign Life Coalition in BC and 20-year veteran of the Delta Police Department passed away Sunday after a battle with cancer. Media reports indicate that only last week some 300 people gathered at his hospital window to encourage the 44 year-old father of four. His funeral is to take place Monday at Sacred Heart Church, with a capacity of 500, however officials estimate attendance may be double that number.
John Hof, president of Campaign Life Coalition BC stated “Stephen Parker knew the value of life and lived each day, given him by his maker, in the service of others.” Added to all his other volunteer work in his community and church Stephen also served on the board of directors of Campaign Life Coalition BC for many years. “I am certain the entire pro-life movement in Canada joins me as I offer our deepest sympathy and prayers to Stephen’s wife Maureen, their four school-aged children and all of their family.”
He is survived and deeply missed by his loving wife Maureen his four children Kevin, Kathleen, Jessica and Emily who range in age from 15-6 years of age.
Hof told LifeSiteNews.com that Parker’s son Kevin, 15, had made a commitment to play golf in place of his ailing father at a Knights of Columbus fundraiser golf tournament. Stephen Parker passed away Sunday, the day of the golf tournament. Kevin kept his promise and played through his tears, and those of the Knights and onlookers.
