LAGOS, Feb 15, 2001 (LSN.ca) – On Sunday the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Lagos State branch, directed all Christian women groups in the state to march to the Lagos State House of Assembly yesterday to protest against the proposed legalization of abortion in the country. The initiative comes as the National Assembly begins debate on a bill allowing abortion to be legalized.
CAN is made up of the Catholic Church; the Christian Council of Churches, including Anglicans, Methodists, and Baptists; the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria; the Evangelical Church of West Africa, and the Organization of African Indigenous Churches.
