News

Dear LifeSiteNews Readers,

This is message #2 in our campaign asking LSN readers to join with us and be Heroes for the cause by making a generous gift to LifeSiteNews.com (LSN).

For many of you this is the holy season of Lent, which emphasizes personal acts of penance and charity, or almsgiving.  I realize that many of you may already have contributed to other worthy organizations this Lenten season, especially in the wake of the Haiti earthquake.  At the same time, however, we ardently hope you will consider the work of LSN worthy of your Lenten giving.

In many ways, this service is one of love, dedicated to doing God's work by challenging the grave evils threatening our Judeo-Christian civilization.  His Culture of Life and Family needs warriors to defend and promote Truth, and this Lent we hope that you will rise to the challenge by supporting LSN.

January and February are always very lean months for donations. In order to continue this work LSN requires a substantial influx of funds over the next couple of weeks.

LSN is not supported by one or two major benefactors like many other charitable organizations – our entire budget is paid for by many more modest donations from generous readers (like you) who appreciate and rely upon the information that we provide.

So while it is difficult to continually make these quarterly appeals to hardworking, honest people whose resources often are already stretched, the undeniable need for this news service to combat the destructive power of the culture of death spurs me forward.

As we have heard before from several religious and pro-life leaders – this work is the most important work on earth.

In fact, during one of our LSN Key Supporter Dinners, keynote speaker Father Thomas Euteneuer, President of Human Life International, emphasized the need to labor for the pro-life movement until it hurts. We need to stretch ourselves to the breaking point in defence of life and truth because the cost of not doing so is too great.

However, we should also always remember that the difficulty of the struggle is only part of the story. As we reflect on what we are fighting for, we should achieve a deeper recognition of the honor and privilege of doing this work. Not only do we work to save, uphold and protect God's most treasured creation, but also the institution He designed to nurture new life – the family.

If you are new to LifeSiteNews, defending life and family by means of a news service may seem to be a strange tactic.  However, because the greatest weapons of the Culture of Death are secrecy, ignorance and lies, we know that shining a light into the darkness with truthful news reporting is a potent offense.  LifeSiteNews has proved the power of this over and over again.

The effectiveness of our reporting has repeatedly astonished us. Truth is powerful and not to be feared by those abiding in truth.

That is why our exceptional team works tirelessly to provide you with a news service that covers the most important issues on a global scale – there is no other news service like LifeSiteNews.com.

Consider LSN as YOUR news service. It is always dedicated to empowering you to do good in a world that is greatly thirsting for the honest, courageous presentation of the truth.
