MADRID, Mar 27, 2001 (LSN.ca) – The abortifacient morning after pill will go on sale in Spain this May after approval by the Health Ministry. Zenit News reports that the Catholic Bishops have repeatedly warned that the pills amount to “chemical abortion”.

The moral decline in Spain began in the sixties when the birth rate of the once strongly Catholic country began to plummet. LifeSite reported in January 2000 that Spain had the lowest birth rate in the world (1.07). Moreover, official data recorded about 54,000 babies were killed by abortion in 1998 in the country and RU-486 went on sale in some hospitals and abortuaries in February 2000.
