TORONTO, June 25, 2001 (LSN.ca) – An Ontario NDP Member of Provincial Parliament, Frances Lankin, has agreed to resign from politics this September to head up the United Way of Greater Toronto. Lankin, a pro-abortion activist MPP, will receive $150,000 a year in her new post and at the same time collect a hefty political pension. (Toronto Star June 22, 2001)

In the summer of 1998 Lankin was livid over the removal of abortion services at a downtown Toronto hospital after it merged with St. Michael’s Catholic hospital. “That’s 1,000 to 1,500 abortion procedures per year that will no longer be available to this community,” she fumed. Lankin again demonstrated her pro-abortion extremism when she complained in the legislature that the Catholic school board was raising funds for a Toronto crisis pregnancy centre. She demanded that the Minister of Health join in her condemnation of the Catholic board: “Minister, in order to stand up for women you have to stand up for their right of access to legal medical services, all of them, including the right of access to abortion services. I asked you very clearly if you would join your voice to mine and say that it is wrong for the board to have decided to have kids involved in raising money for a group with a misleading name like Aid to Women.”

In 1976 the Toronto Catholic archdiocese pulled funding from United Way due to the inclusion of Planned Parenthood, the world’s largest abortion agency, as one of its members.
