NEW YORK, May 7, 2001 (LSN.ca) – Dolores Cross, who served on the National Abortion Rights Action League’s “National Commission of America Without Roe’”, will be given an honorary doctorate today by Seton Hall University. Fr. Peter West of Priests for Life points out the scandal noting “Catholic schools bestowing honors on abortion advocates weakens the Church’s witness to the sanctity of human life.” In an email letter on the subject Fr. West asked, “If Dolores Cross were discovered to be a racist, anti-Semite or anti-Catholic she would be immediately uninvited. Why don’t we have the same reaction to those who deny the rights of pre-born children?”

Seton Hall University was founded in 1856 by Bishop James Roosevelt Bayley, the first bishop of Newark, who named it after his aunt, Mother Elizabeth Ann Seton – the first American-born saint. The University website https://www.shu.edu/ contains the details on the commencement.

Fr. West asked pro-lifers to contact Seton Hall’s President – Msgr. Robert Sheeran at (973) 761-9620 or send him an email at [email protected] to express your opinion about Seton Hall honoring an abortion advocate.
