INDIANOLA, Iowa, January 15, 2016 (LifeSiteNews) – The president of a top abortion group says former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is “the right person” to be the next president of the United States.
“I'd like to break that glass ceiling,” said EMILY's List president Stephanie Schriock of getting Clinton elected as America's first female president. However, “that isn't what this is about. What this is about is getting the right person in that job.”
Schriock praised Clinton for working for the Children's Defense Fund in Washington instead of “sort of cash[ing] it in and make a lot of money when she was” just out of college.
Clinton was endorsed by EMILY's List nearly a year ago, in April, in a statement that did not mention abortion by name. However, Clinton has endorsed abortion on demand, and like EMILY's List she opposes the popular late-term abortion ban.
According to its website's “About Us” page, EMILY's List “is committed to driving progressive change throughout our country by winning elections that put pro-choice Democratic women into office.”
