PANAMA, May 25, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A poll by Dichter & Neira published in La Prensa has revealed that the majority of adults in Panama are opposed to abortion. The question was simple and to the point: “Do you agree or disagree with abortion?” 89.4% disagree.

The same poll asked about same sex “marriage” with similar results. To the question, “Do you agree or disagree with allowing same-sex marriage?” 78.8 disagreed with 12.4% being “indifferent.”

Despite this widespread public opposition in the heavily Catholic country, Panama has legalized abortion in cases of pregnancy due to rape, medical abnormalities of the child, or the life or ‘health’ of the mother.
