(LifeSiteNews) — Pro-abortion activists have reportedly been celebrating the deaths of over 100 people in last week’s devastating Texas floods.
Students for Life president Kristan Hawkins condemned the rhetoric as “evil” and “sickening.”
Her remarks come in response to collages of X posts that appeared to mock the natural disaster as retribution for Texas’ pro-life laws.

The flooding, which struck areas including Austin and San Marcos, destroyed homes, infrastructure, and pro-life pregnancy centers – while leaving at least 27 girls and counselors dead at Camp Mystic on the Guadalupe River.
“There’s no way to sugarcoat this,” Hawkins said. “These are some of the worst floods I’ve ever seen. Over 100 people have died. And now, abortion activists are mocking those deaths because Texas protects life in the womb.”
Citing a report from LifeNews.com, Hawkins pointed to comments online suggesting that “pro-life Texas deserved” the disaster. She continued, “Having four children of my own, these comments sicken, sadden, and enrage me.”
Of the eight posts included, only two are verifiable. It is unclear whether the others were removed by users.
I’m kinda happy that the National Weather Service gave incorrect predictions when it came to how much rain would fall – especially since the best and brightest from that org were let go due to DOGE, Elon and Trump.
Texas deserves the flooding

There’s no FEMA to pick you up by your bootstrap. They gave it all to ICE. pic.twitter.com/5d0STUiVJW

One Houston pediatrician, Dr. Christina Propst, was reportedly fired for suggesting that those killed by the floods had received “what they voted for.” Many of those who died were children.
This is what happens when a political party stops valuing human Life.
Thankfully, she lost her job. But the cruelty speaks volumes. https://t.co/SjTSuQ5Wc6

Hawkins said that the rhetoric reflects a deeper hostility toward the pro-life movement. “While the prayers and support of pro-lifers across the nation are going out to all those who have been affected, the Abortion Lobby decided to take to social media to celebrate,” she said.
LifeNews reported that Students for Life raised $42,426 for Pregnancy Resources Centers last year after Hurricanes Helene and Milton and relayed Hawkins’ call to support those affected by the floods.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott, while focusing his public remarks on disaster recovery efforts, praised the resilience of local communities but did not comment on the controversy.
