GRANITE CITY, ILL, Dec 7, 2000 (LSN.ca) – LifeSite has learned that abortionist Dr. Yogendra Shah, has been removed from his position as the Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Catholic hospital where he nevertheless continues to be employed. A release from the Diocese of Springfield says that he has been removed from the elevated position. The hospital, St. Elizabeth Medical Center suggests that moves to unseat Shah were underway before the story hit the press two days ago in a report by WorldNetDaily. However, he had been in that position for three years. The abortionist runs an abortuary directly across the street from the hospital, which commits some 7,000 abortions every year.

The release from the Diocese affirms the pro-life commitment of the hospital and the diocese. The hospital told LifeSite that the it was advised by lawyers that they have no legal recourse to remove Shah from the hospital.
