OLIVE BRANCH, Miss., Nov 16 (LSN) – Michael and Sharon Blackard of Olive Branch, parents of Ashley, are suing a Memphis abortuary for $12 million for having committed an abortion on their daughter while she was not yet 18 years of age. The law in Tennessee states that pregnant youth under the age of 18 must have the permission of a parent or a judge before aborting a child.  According to court documents the girl’s boyfriend took Ashley to the Memphis Area Medical Center for Women,  where she was given an abortion without her parents knowledge. The American Civil Liberties Union is fighting for the abortuary saying that the Tennessee law is now being challenged in court and thus the abortion mill should be exempt from thwarting it. However, Robert Hutton, the Blackards’ lawyer said “You can’t even take a mole off a child’s back without parental consent. To me it is unfathomable that”  abortion is exempt.
