ANCHORAGE, Sept 10 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Alaska Superior Court Judge Eric Sanders ruled yesterday that Alaskan’s do not have a constitutional right to physician-assisted suicide (PAS).

An unnamed physician in her sixties is challenging the state to allow her PAS. Pro-PAS lawyers argued that a decision by the courts to allow abortion two years ago was based on “the recognition of an individual’s right to determine what happens to his or her own body.”

In his ruling Sanders wrote: “The state’s proper governmental interests enable it to infringe on privacy interests by criminalizing, or banning, assisted suicide in Alaska.” The PAS pushers vowed to appeal to the Supreme Court.
