EDMONTON, June 29 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Alberta provincial Catholic Women’s League (CWL) has disassociated itself from the March of Women 2000. Alberta CWL President Lucille Partington told LifeSite that the CWL members of the province were encouraged “NOT to march under a banner that is not in accordance with our faith and belief.” Partington said that rather than march in the pro-abortion March of Women 2000, “the CWL will march in marches against abortion.” It noted an upcoming pro-life march in Edmonton.
The Alberta CWL has intensified its work to end poverty and violence in the province and will encourage such “legitimate” efforts. The decision to disassociate from the March was made democratically with the urging of grass roots CWL members.
