OTTAWA, June 12 (LifeSiteNews.com) – All the Canadian Alliance leadership candidates except Dr. Keith Martin responded to a pro-family questionnaire issued by the Canada Family Action Coalition.  Questions on the uniqueness of heterosexual marriage, conscience legislation, religious freedom and pornography and more were answered. On retaining traditional marriage, both Stockwell Day and Preston Manning agreed to use the notwithstanding clause to guard against a Supreme Court revision of marriage but Tom Long waffled, not agreeing to use the clause unless such use was approved by referendum.

On conscience legislation both Day and Manning supported it unequivocally. Mr. Long however qualified his support by suggesting it was a provincial issue and that he did not want to infringe on provincial jurisdiction. For these and more answers to the CFAC questionnaire,  see the CFAC website.
