CHICAGO, June 15, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The American Medical Association Monday urged the FDA to ease restrictions on prescription-only access to the morning-after pill. The resolution was one of several passed at this year’s annual AMA House of Delegates meeting. “The (Food and Drug Administration’s) own advisory committee determined emergency contraceptive pills were safe,” claimed AMA committee head Dr. Ronald Davis, who investigated the matter, according to Reuters news report. The AMA also clamoured for renewed U.S. funding of the United Nations Population Fund and other population-control groups giving credibility to criticisms that the organization is now dominated by persons with a strong ideological agenda.
