NEW YORK, May 25 (LSN) – Julia Alvarez, the Dominican Republic’s highly-regarded ambassador to the United Nations, shocked delegates at a UN conference last week by denouncing population-control programmes as inspired by racism and eugenics. According to the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute, the ambassador said such programmes have had disastrous effects on women and poor people in developing nations. She also showed the stunned audience, included delegates from Planned Parenthood’s Alan Guttmacher Institute among other leading population-controllers, how groups like Planned Parenthood have targeted poor and dark-skinned people from the beginning. Another participant in the meeting, Dr James McCarthy at Columbia University’s Center for Population, expressed similar sentiments, and seemed to cast doubt on standard pro-abortion theories of “over- population.”
