KINGSTON, Ontario, September 27, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Pro-life activist Andrea Mrozek is slated to debate Joyce Arthur of the Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada at the 2011 Queen’s University Health and Human Rights Conference. The topic of the debate is: “Can Canada have an effective global maternal health policy by excluding funding for abortions?”

In 2008 Andrea founded ProWomanProLife.org, an organization by and for women who believe that strong, confident women are pro-woman when they are pro-life, and that being pro-life is a compassionate and pro-woman stand. She describes her ultimate, long term goal as no secret agenda: “To create a Canada where demand for abortions dwindles and decreases until there’s none left, not because it was forced upon anyone but because that is what women choose.”

Andrea has a Master’s degree in history from the University of Toronto, with a special focus on Holocaust studies and modern Europe. She is the Manager of Research and Communications at the Institute of Marriage and Family Canada.

Joyce Arthur is the founder and Executive Director of Canada’s national abortion advocacy group, the Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada (ARCC). Before founding ARCC in 2005, she ran the Pro-Choice Action Network in British Columbia for 10 years and edited the newsletter Pro-Choice Press, which she began in 1995.

The Queen’s University conference organizers describe the “Maternal and Child Health” conference as an opportunity to reflect on the “rising international focus on the unique issues affecting the wellbeing of these vulnerable populations.”

“We strive to use this meeting as an opportunity to challenge ourselves, explore our biases, and question our roles as global citizens … uniting speakers from various academic disciplines and professions, and inviting discourse on both local and global issues within the realm of Health and Human Rights,” the organizers state on their website.

Past experience has shown that abortion advocates are seldom willing to engage knowledgeable opponents in one-on-one public debate, so the opportunity to hear Andrea confront Arthur on the topic of Canadian policy on global maternal health should not be missed.

“Come and decide for yourself,” Andrea invites. “This is open to the public and free of charge, so if you are in the neighbourhood, stop on in.”

The debate will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2011, starting at 2:45 pm, at the Biosciences Complex, New Medical Building, Room 1101 (Auditorium), 116 Barrie St., Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario.
