VANCOUVER, October 15, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) – B.C.‘s Anglican hierarchy sounded surprisingly authoritarian in condemning Terry Buckle, the Anglican bishop of the Yukon who has declared his willingness to act as bishop for a group of Vancouver parishes outside his diocese that are unwilling to toe the homosexual line. Archbishop David Crawley, B.C.‘s senior cleric, said: “Many of us are deeply grieved and embarrassed that a bishop, who has sworn an oath to maintain order in the life of the church, is himself the author of disorder.”  In Britain, Dr. Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury is expected to side with “conservatives” on the issue of homosexuality to avert a worldwide schism, inviting 38 primates from among the world’s 70 million Anglicans to Canterbury for an “emergency summit” on the ordination of active homosexuals. Reports say he will reiterate his church’s official view of only five years ago that homosexuality is “incompatible with scripture.”  A spokesman for powerful traditionalist, Archbishop Peter Akinola of Nigeria, whose flock accounts for one-third of all Anglicans, said: “This [homosexual ordination] is a departure from the teachings handed down from the fathers of faith and the word of God in the holy scriptures.”  For CBC coverage:  https://www.cbc.ca/stories/2003/10/10/bishop_samesexblessings   For UK coverage:  https://news.independent.co.uk/uk/this_britain/story.jsp?story=452727   For coverage of developments in the U.S.:  https://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/local/southflorida/sfl-episcopal1012,0,1819209.story?coll=sfla-home-headlines and https://www.ajc.com/news/content/news/1003/08episcopals.html;COXnetJSessionID=1Mrglyi55tP6O1ni56dE3u8Zsvb9XXpoA6e7Ddi9728Jvp3QKH3k!543119967?urac=n&urvf=10661835843140.3663274443131701
